TL;DR: This New Orleanian brunchy location is worth giving a try, even on a short vacation. Take a food recommendation. Be aware of the egg surcharge. This was one of several visits that I've had to Ruby Slipper and this location in particular. The parking is into a gravel lot. Spots can be a bit tight, but there are generally plenty of them. Walking in, you are met with plenty of merch and service that is, so far as I've experienced it, attentive and considerate. The dishes are spins on New Orleans favorites and have noticeable care put into them. Although, much of what I've had is probably not best for the sodium conscious among you. Maybe there is something for you, especially if sugar or carbs is okay as a substitute. For a savory dish, I recommend the Couchon Benny or the shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits are among the best I've had in New Orleans. The best sweet is probably the banana's foster french toast. Both are pictured in my review. The restroom has always been clean and well-stocked. My only critique from my most recent visit is that there is a 50cent surcharge for eggs. Yes, I get it; eggs are expensive, but you are already paying for the dish, and 50cents is making money on the egg by itself. If eggs were cheaper than normal, dont expect a discount. Anyway, I will avoid any Benny so long as this is in effect. read more

Popular breakfast and brunch spot in New Orleans so I had to give it a try! The service was quick and the staff were extremely friendly. You can opt to eat indoors or outdoors. I got the mix and match for my bennies as there was only 2 I really wanted to try. The fried chicken one was by far my favorite. New Orleans does not disappoint when it comes to their fried chicken. My coworkers and I had a great experience at this location of Ruby Slipper! Our waiter, Chef, was helpful with menu suggestions and he did an amazing job bouncing between being helpful in the kitchen and being attentive to us as a group. The omelet was delicious and well seasoned. Who knew crème fraiche and salmon went together so well? The breakfast potatoes were crispy and delicious. I enjoyed the morning margarita but went back and tried the lavender Paloma which I enjoyed more! The modern diner style of the restaurant is very cute and inviting. This was our first time visiting Ruby Slipper, it was an easy process getting on the waitlist and being seated as soon as we got there. It was pretty busy as it was deep Mardi Gras season but it took our server a long time to even acknowledge us. When she finally came and took our order, we had the trio Benedict and candied bacon. Bacon came out and it was ok...strips were really small but flavor was good. The tripping Benedict's were good too. I've was shrimp creole which I thought was the best one, only it was lukewarm...I think it would've been better if it was hot. The other 2 had pork and chicken on it. We made reservations for a party of 9 ahead of time. They said they would have to split us 4-5 which was fine but once we got there they put us all together!!! They have a neat back area with seating and yard games so we actually played cornhole while we waited! It was swiftie weekend so it was quite busy. Our waitress definitely seemed stressed out. She said it would be easier if we did one check. Get it, but it made life annoying for our group later. Great customer service server really broke down the menu in detail. Food arrive fast and hot and the flavors were hitting all my taste buds. I have been to one of the Ruby Slipper locations in the French Quarter ( around the corner from the Sheraton on Canal) before and it was delicious. During my last visit on 10/20/24 me and some family members were recommended to go to the location on Broad Street. It is a stand alone restaurant with a nice patio and area out front to play cornhole. It also has its own parking lot (major plus). We were seated quickly and our server, Keshon, was great. She was both friendly and efficient. I had the shrimp omelet which came with grits and a buttermilk biscuit. Those grits were cooked to perfection and that biscuit was one of the best I've had in a very long time, as a lot of places make biscuits, but don't necessarily make GOOD biscuits. You also gotta try the candied bacon. They played good music, we enjoyed our meals and had great service. read more

The two trips we've taken to NO we were recommended Ruby Slipper. This last trip we realized there are more than one location so I had to search my previous Yelp check ins because we really liked this spot. After eating for several days and waking up late, we made it a point to stop by on our way out of NO. I ate so much this last trip that so couldn't eat any more at all. But it's Ruby Slipper and we were anticipating going here. My first trip, I ordered something I can't remember because it had one fried green tomato and that is all I can remember. It was that good. I never had one before and I felt like I had been missing out all my life. It is one of my favorite movies after all. This trip, I ordered the red and green fried green tomatoes with poached eggs and biscuit. I couldn't eat it all but I made my best effort and it did not disappoint. So delicious. My daughter orders the St. Charles chicken with scrambled eggs. She ate one and took the other on the road. We were both so stuffed from all the amazing food in New Orleans. My first time here was about a year ago. It was super busy. The food was good but I was disappointed with the portions. The menu didn't seem to have changed much since that time. This time was a lot better. We were able to be seated as soon as we arrived. The staff was very accommodating. The portions were better too. We ordered beginets as a starter. They were actually very small in size. We also ordered the megas (an egg dish served over fried tortilla strips and a side of avocado slices), fried catfish and grits, shrimp and grits, a side order of chicken sausage, and a side biscuit. The biscuits are a good size but were very dry. The butter that was served with them made them better. The shrimp and grits would have been a much better presentation with several butterfly shrimp on top than the small shrimp mixed into the grits. We also had a couple of mocktails. We waited for TWO HOURS after being told our wait would be 30-45 minutes once we were officially added to the list at the hostess stand. Worst part was the hostess told us we were next and we had 5 more minutes then 15 more minutes when we asked again about 40 minutes later and we heard her tell everyone who asked for an update the exact same thing as us and that they were next. At the two hour mark, I checked back in with her and she blatantly ignored me. I know you can't always control how long people stay at a table but our place "in line" kept getting pushed back when we would check the app so I recommend making sure the software actually works properly. I wouldn't have been so upset but we had a diabetic with us so giving more accurate updates could have prevented the issues they had after we left. When we were finally notified that our table was ready 2 hours and 15 minutes after getting on the list, we were immediately "taken off the list" before we made it back to the hostess stand so that is when we decided to leave. This experience makes me sad because we really liked coming here when our family comes in town and they were very excited about it but we will never come back if we can't trust the wait times given. I know this can't always be controlled but the hostess could have been a little kinder about it or even escalated the matter when we hit the two hour mark. read more
