Based off New Orleans, I am sooo happy we got to avoid the chaos there since they opened this branch in Pensacola! There was also a wait time when we went (around 9:30am); there was a wait to get in and obviously a wait to get the food. However, the food didn't disappoint. We ordered the Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict and the Eggs Cochon... it was. so. delicious!!! Our other family members ordered other things off the menu, and they were quite pleased as well. The bread was like regular sandwich bread and the "cream" was just a really small portion of whipped cream and canned peaches. I was expecting brioche or some kind of fluffy bread with a thick cream cheese layer with fresh peaches. Also, I wish the plates were bigger because I kept getting food on the table. But the Benedict's were super tasty and wow they taste way better on a biscuit than on an English muffin so that is a genius move on the restaurant's part! While In Pensacola visiting my parents I stopped by the Ruby Slipper Cafe because they had excellent reviews. They are known for their breakfast and brunch so I was about to find out for myself. I really didn't come to Pensacola to put on weight so I stayed away from what I really wanted to order which was the Banana Pecan pancakes but I observed it on my neighbor plate and it was very tempting because it looked delicious and I was watching them on the down low as they were enjoying their meal. I ordered the Southern Breakfast and I thought I was safe until I saw that enormous fluffy biscuit that came with my meal. The Southern Breakfast was really good especially with my extra side order of bacon. I also tried the creamy vanilla spice latte which was a little too sweet I had to add hot water to it. The reviews were on point, if you are in the Pensacola area this place should definitely be on your bucket list. If you are on a diet make sure you visit this place on your cheat day. read more

We got our orders in pretty quickly - I went for the Sweet Heat Chicken and Waffles; my friend got the Peacemaker - which is a combination of any of the Benedicts that Ruby Slipper offers. I also added some scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and a Creamy Vanilla Cold Brew, and my friend added a traditional style pancake. In short - the food was amazing. My husband and I ventured out to Ruby Slipper for our first day date after becoming new parents 8 weeks ago. We had a fabulous experience with our server, who was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the fried green tomatoes as a starter, a Bloody Mary, and morning margarita. For the price, I felt like each item was very fair in quantity as well as delicious. Entree wise, I got the smoked salmon benny and my husband got the shrimp and grits. I am typically weary on smoked salmon as it really needs to be SMOKED to avoid the fishy flavor that I dislike. This smoked salmon Benny was delicious. The salmon was wonderful (coming from someone who is picky on seafood as I dislike the fishy taste) and the egg was poached to perfection. My husband got the shrimp and grits, which had very plump gulf shrimp and a great amount of flavoring to mix in with the grits. Overall, I think we spent about $60 which I felt was fair for the wonderful meal we received. We will absolutely try to return again soon! read more

We were anticipating brunch here after hearing so many rave reviews about this place. Perhaps it was an off day, but everyone in our party of six found it to be mediocre at best. I found Ruby Slippers to be subpar. The good: the Bloody Mary. The bad: first bite was cold. The breakfast potatoes were old, cold and unseasoned. Nothing. Dry and cold. No amount of ketchup and/or hot sauce could fix that. After looking at my small plate of biscuits and gravy, I too had ordered a side of breakfast potatoes which arrived in a cup but these had some slimy onions on top. No one else's potatoes had onions, so it was unexpected. I had also ordered a side of grits and was offered cheese or plain ... I opted for cheese. This arrived as Quaker instant grits, cold, with some packaged shredded cheese sprinkled on top. It too was cold. Needless to say it was not edible. I turned my attention to my plate of biscuits and gravy. It is pretty hard to mess up eggs over medium, but I sopped up some runny egg whites with part of an old, dry biscuit and looked at my soggy, undercooked bacon and moved on. The gravy, while cold, was sparsely dotting my biscuits. It was enough though in that it was plain and underwhelming. In my opinion we should have done Cracker Barrel. I left hungry which was a huge disappointment. The staff was good but a bit frazzled so we didn't bother to mention what could not be fixed. I generally don't review places I won't return to, but felt an honest post about Ruby Slippers was warranted given that they were so highly recommended. read more

The French toast was very delicious. The French toast was sprinkled with cream cheese and was served with a container of honey. I ordered out of my comfort zone and got the Chicken St.Charles. Which consisted of a biscuit cut in half with a deep fried to perfection chicken breast with a egg of your choice. I fried my egg over medium. Topped with a Tasso cream sauce. Surprisingly it was really good. Chris was our server he was nice and helpful at first however that change when my friend did not like her meal and asked for it to be returned. He did not accompany our table after that incident and we had to stop him when he attended to tables around us for to go carts and our bill. My food was good however the service could had been better that's while I'm lowering my overall experience at this establishment. The place is very clean with a wide open floor plan and a very country feel to it. The staff was great too...our server Donna was sweet, polite and a real pro!! I had the Abita beer braised eggs Benedict and my friends had the breakfast tacos and a red velvet pancake and Apple pie cheesecake stuffed French toast.
