Had to downgrade my review. Their Sunday special pasta was awful, was WAY undercooked, and the tomato sauce was tart and thin. We sent it back for the penne Parmesan and asked for the pasta to be cooked. I think they undercooked that even more than the first dish! That sauce was also thin and flavorless - even with a hearty helping of Parmesan grated on top. The lobster stuffed shrimp was good, but the bread was rubbery. My husband surprised me with reservations here on a Friday night for an early birthday dinner. I am glad he made reservations because it was packed in there! It is a louder atmosphere with a live band. The live band near the bar was a nice touch and it had a club feel with the dim lighting. The side area was packed with people standing up as well. I am not sure if it was a private party or not. The main dining room had comfortable seating like little couches. The only thing that I felt was weird, were the two seater side tables by the booths. They are in between in an awkward location. We sat at one of them. If their are a lot of people in the booth, you may be overlapping a lot. There were a lot of staff to accommodate the busyness which was great. We were greeted immediately and told our server would be right with us. They were timely with everything despite it being busy. To start off, I got the margarita. I loved how it was served in the french press with a single ice cube in the glass. It was simple and not too sweet. I got the side salad that was $4.50 with an entree. It made for a good appetizer and had a good balance of veggies. For my dinner I got the salmon and replaced the Mac and cheese as a side. I was a little apprehensive when I saw the Mac and cheese had bread crumbs (y'all know I hate that) but it was good! The bread crumbs were not overpowering at all and it was cheesy. Plus, we ordered both varieties of peppers on the menu. The Hungarian were far too mild. Real Hungarian peppers kick ass and this definitely wasn't it. My daughter was in from one of those frigid states to celebrate her dad's birthday. She asked that we go to a place with good beef. We had been here a few times pre Covid and decided it was time to go back again. We made a reservation for late Sunday afternoon. Although I'd asked for a booth, none was available but we were offered a seat in the small dining room. That was fine but the big screen TV with a golf game on was a real turnoff. What a way to spoil atmosphere. For a smaller dining room with fabric chairs it was really loud. In addition the chair seat was stained and we had to test it out to make sure it wasn't still wet. Frankly it looked like someone had a leakage problem. Another turnoff. Hence 4 rather than 5 stars. Our server, Chelsea just couldn't have done anything better. Her warm greeting, answer to menu items and cocktails was wonderful, as was her service. A perfect balance between professionalism and making you feel like a friend rather than just another customer. We started with cocktails and the oysters Rockefeller, which were delicious. Our entrees included the Chilean Sea Bass, and filets with a lobster stuffed pasta. All that should have been enough, however, it was a birthday celebration and we ordered the chocolate cake, as well as the ice cream sundae with 3 flavors of home made ice cream, plus side sauces. Oh yes, then birthday dad was surprised (as were we) with a plate of lava cake with whipped cream. While it was all on the table we ordered glasses of wine and wondered how we'd have room for it all. A bit of a drive for us, but when we are close to this place we try to go. It's owned by the DebarTolo's, so being owned by billionaires never hurts... beautifully decorated and one of few establishments that has a proper sized bar area. We frequently eat at the bar, so we love their layout. Decent selection of drafts and bourbon, and a very good wine selection (reserve list). Also one of few higher end places that offers a happy hour too. As for the food, the fried Brie app is killer, the short rib cavatelli and filet are standout mains for us. Great side selections with the tilamook creamed corn with bacon being my favorite (add japs to kick it up). Have not made it to dessert, so can't comment on that just yet. Amazing food and service. We came for our anniversary and fell in love with the ambiance immediately. We complained that the band was too loud otherwise, we were overall very happy with our night there. We had French 75 to drink, and the baked lobster and crab pasta fir our dinner. For our appetizers, we had the Mac and cheese and Brussels Sprouts which is usually an side but we decided to have them as an app. We both thought the Brussels Sprouts were the best thing we had. Discounted small bites and drinks. Also on Tuesdays they have some specials. We had martinis that were made as we ordered and made well! For dinner, we ordered the Grouper Picatta and the Prosciutto,mushroom & Goat Cheese Pizzette. The grouper was moist and tender with the all right seasonings, paired with the lemon caper piccata sauce that was delicious. The cauliflower mash was unbelievably good and the asparagus was grilled to perfection. I had a square of my friend's pizzette and it was amazing! Although I can't eat bread, I tore off the toppings and devoured it! It had black olive aioli, mushrooms, prosciutto, goat cheese. He ate most of it and agreed with me :-) For dessert we decided to have the Killer Chocolate Cake. It was like heaven on a plate! First off, it was the biggest slice of cake I've ever seen! We went on a Friday night and the place was hopping, as you get closer to 9PM the older cougar/silver fox crowd makes their way in. Its definitely a "clubbing" type place for the older crowd. If you are a single young female I do not recommend going in alone on a Friday night... They had live music, the place is not 100% set up for that but it seemed to work. This was my second time at Sacred Pepper and again I was impressed! First of all, the decor inside is absolutely beautiful. There is a main dining area as well as a room for private parties. The bar is actually quite large and has plenty of seating and full service. The menu is quite large and has a little something for everyone. I ordered the blackened steak bites for a starter and OMG delicious, the steak was cooked medium, was the and juicy. I decided to keep it simple an ordered the Salmon and a side of the caramelized brussel sprouts for dinner which was equally just as great. The customer service was very pleasant, my server was attentive and offered suggestions of his favorites. Even the support staff was on point, they were quick and helpful when the server was helping other tables. Live band was amazing, they played a mix of genres, they were interactive and got people up and dancing. Made a reservation for my husband's birthday. Asked for a birthday dessert plate for him. The food and service was amazing. The dessert plate was served to the table right next to us. The table next to us had a full dinner and dessert and their waiter served my husbands dessert to that table. The couple looked confused but grinned and excepted the dessert. I visited the Sacred Pepper twice in the past 2 months and each visit had its pros and cons. Starting with the ambiance and decor - Sacred Pepper is an unlikely "diamond in the rough". Not that the location of the restaurant is "rough" per se, but I definitely did not expect to walk in to such a lavish and sexy environment. Once inside, I felt like I was transported back to Miami. The music, the lighting, the centerpiece chandeliers and the drift wood above the bar section were each perfectly positioned in harmony to create a really nice ambiance. I also loved the center bar. The bar appears to be the heart of the restaurant. It is very large and was packed each time I visited. On each visit I tried signature cocktails before dinner and then wine at dinner. The melon mule and the pear elderflower martini were my favorite choices simply because of the elderflower. The pear elderflower martini was light and refreshing. I love love elderflower! Now on to the food. Here is where things get tricky. On the first visit I ordered the crab cake appetizer. Good flavor and full of real crab. For entrees, I had the Shrimp Fra Diavolo and my friend ordered the Grouper Piccata. My friend and I were truly disappointed. The shrimp fra diavolo was totally missing the diavolo! There was absolutely no heat whatsoever! And while the Grouper Piccata had a perfect combination of the lemon and capers flavor, the portion of grouper was rather small and uneventful. The accompanying cauliflower mash was bit bland and did not support the small portion of protein provided. Each dish looked great on presentation, however they simply missed the mark in flavor. Given that our server, Joshua, provided such excellent service, and that I truly loved the vibe in this place, the decision was to give Sacred Pepper an additional opportunity to redeem itself. On the second visit I ordered the honey goat cheese baklava as an appetizer and the baked lobster and crab rotolo as my entree. I was so excited to order the baklava because they did not have it the night of my first visit. The BAKLAVA IS A MUST TRY! The appetizer is slightly sweet and savory. I loved the pillowy creamy goat cheese and the tart and chocolaty balsamic reduction drizzled all over the top! The bits of fig and pistachio gave great texture and my taste buds were pleasantly pleased! The portion of Baklava is enough for 3 - 4 persons to enjoy. Now about the main entree - I was slightly conflicted. The menu states the following - "two delicate rolled pasta shells stuffed with Maine lobster, ricotta, cream sauce, parmesan." This was not what came to my table. :-/ I think that they should rename the dish, Baked CRAB with lobster rotolo. The pasta was super delicate and the filling was nice and creamy with lots of crab. No complaints on that part BUUUUUT, the description stated that there would be lobster. My first rotolo had no lobster at all and the second rotolo had only a single chunk piece. The dish was light and delicate and actually tasted pretty darn good despite the false advertisement! Our server on this particular night, Sean, was also a bit uneventful. He was not very attentive to our table. First, when my friend did not like a drink, Sean did not offer to take the drink back or take it off the bill. Secondly, we had to flag Sean down to ask for grated parmesan for my pasta dish (meaning he took way too long to come and check on our table). Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere that Sacred Pepper brings. I also experienced a few dishes that I am willing to return for. I do hope that they find more consistency in the quality of dishes and service provided. I never saw the owner on either of my visits. However I was told that the owner frequents the bar and comes and enjoys herself with her patrons. I did however, briefly meet the GM, Chad. read more
