We came by at 4 pm on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. I have to say that I was really disappointed with the service here, from seating to table side service. When my husband and I came in, we asked for a table for 4 in a booth. In a restaurant that was 80% empty, the hostess said the booths were not available unless we wanted to wait (wait for what exactly?) as we stared at booths that were very clearly empty around the tables where we sat (and continued to be empty throughout our time there, so they were not reserved). The rest of the party arrived shortly and they took our order. Our waiter was ok, my husband ordered coffee which the waiter made it a point to say that he'd have to go make the coffee because he was the only one working "back there." I was also confused by this statement, there were plenty of ppl behind the counters and again, the restaurant was mostly empty. And then he forgot to put the coffee in, so we reordered it. It was just drip coffee (was not ever offered a refill), and it was $6 for pretty mediocre diner coffee. The meal was fine, but there were several other things that happened during our meal that just threw the entire meal off for me. Another NYC classic opens a Dallas location! I heard Sadelle's was almost impossible to get a reservation for right when it opened, but now it's relatively easy. I didn't think I would need one considering there were so many openings the day before I was ready to book. I still highly recommend getting one because I showed up and had to wait over an hour for a table. The hostesses aren't the nicest or warmest, so it wasn't a great first impression for me. They don't communicate when your table will be ready either. However, our waitress was much nicer and came by to check on us regularly despite a busy brunch time. My friend and I tried the matcha latte and espresso martini, and both were delicious. I was surprised by how good the matcha latte was. We also ordered the salmon tower, omelet, and eggs benedict. Everything was honestly so good. It's really unique to have NYC bagels in Dallas, and it makes me so happy to know there are small parts of my favorite city in my hometown. The eggs benedict was actually really yummy, and I love the little toast that the eggs sat on. My friend's omelet looks simple and unassuming, but it was also really fluffy and delicious. The salmon tower was such a fun experience because we got to make our own bagels with tiny tongs. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here. So, food gets a 10/10, service an 8.5/10, but oh my God, this place is LOUD during a packed Sunday brunch. It was unbearable. The interior is lovely but sounds like an echo chamber with all the hard surfaces. The noise bounces around like crazy. And for some reason, they made this even worse by blasting the most jarring yacht rock playlist imaginable at full volume. Add a crying baby or two, and you've got a full-on acoustic nightmare. I honestly didn't have high expectations going in since I had a really horrible experience at their sister restaurant Carbone, but Sydelles was actually quite amazing. The service was a bit slow at times but they're new so it's to be expected, but all the staff we interacted with were amazing, hilarious, and beyond accommodating. I read some reviews complaining about the price, but honestly for what you're getting, it's fair. The caviar is a great deal compared to other restaurants in the area, same with the champange. Having gone for the matzo ball soup, the fact that they were out of it, was very disappointing. In fact, they were out of half the things on the menu! Since they are open daily until 9:00 pm, couldn't they have made more soup? The matzo ball soup is epic; instead two of my table mates ordered tomato soup. Each got only about 1/2 cup of soup in a large bowl, which looked pretty pathetic. Whoever is managing this place is not doing a good job. By now, they should know how much food to order and how often to have deliveries to accommodate their crowds. I had a Greek salad, which was very good and very large. The expresso martinis are good here. They put chocolate shavings on top. The service is always attentive. In this economy, it's hard to sit here and praise a $30 omelette. Sure you can get a decent omelette at Denny's for half the price, but it will never compare to the tantalizing delight the Leo Omelette from Sadelle's will bring. The decor makes you feel like you're chilling in a classic East Coast establishment (their food prices reflect that sentiment too). First impression: Heard the restaurant has amazing NY style bagel so it's been on our to try list. We finally visited Sadelle's this morning at close to 10am. Restaurant was half empty but the manager and hosts took a while to sit us with party of three. They seem having hard time to decide where to sit us. After order was placed, I decided to pay the restroom a visit, since it's my first time, I had to explore and ask another waitress who happened just walked right passed me with cold and unfriendly tone and attitude affirming my direction toward the restroom. Food: Food arrived after 15-20 min, great house salmon (smoked) and everything bagel with cream cheese. It was pretty good, but the plain bagel is just plain, nothing special, sesame bagel was good, almost on par with everything bagel. Service/attitude/atmosphere: Plain, not inviting high end breakfast/lunch restaurant with staff's stock up attitude and atmosphere. Granted, the restaurant is located in Highland Village with visitors who drive high end vehicles and living in million dollar houses, but the Mediocre service and quality food does not go together at this setting. I had a great experience here . The food 5/5, I had the blueberry pancakes, my friends had the French toast and salmon salad and they all enjoyed it. The drinks were also 5/5, delicious and strong but not too strong. The maitre d Joe sat us promptly although we were very late. Our waiter Kevin was amazing, very fast and friendly. A restaurant that takes Jewish deli food, then doesn't call themselves a deli... This might actually be a good thing though as they've seemingly managed to ruin every Jewish deli food they serve. It's a little nuts though that despite them serving Jewish deli food, this overly corporate expanding restaurant chain won't call themselves a deli, I'm guessing because they think a "deli" is below them? Starts off as a slap in the face to all the real Jewish delis left that serve great food and are run by multiple generations of a family. First, they were out of tons of things. Among them, tuna salad. How does a "not a deli" run out of tuna salad? Their days and hours of being open are strange, as are how their "not a deli" counter works... it's open in the mornings at times, but not at night from what I was told. Why not have it open at night where people can come in, like they do at a deli, to pick up meats, cheeses, breads, desserts, etc. to take home with them? Our waitress was very nice, but it was weird how she tried to awkwardly explain what matzoh ball soup was to us. We of course knew, but for a place that is supposed to at least serve deli food, it was weird that the staff was trying to tell people what the food was when we never even asked. I'm willing to bet that if someone goes into a restaurant and orders matzoh ball soup, they know what it is. Having said that, all the food was over salted... except for the matzoh ball soup. The one food that needed some salt had basically no salt in it. I'd feel bad for anyone that were to order the matzoh ball soup here and not have had it before thinking this is what it's supposed to taste like. Now getting to what basically everyone is talking about: the price. I can justify the price if I go to Cafe Pacific, Honor Bar, Bistro 31, or any of the other restaurants in Highland Park Village, because the food is actually good and the servings are at least decently sized. Sadelle's pricing is ridiculous. They want $31 for a triple decker sandwich??? I can go to an actually good DELI, Nate 'n Al's in Beverly Hills, and pay under $20 for a comparable sandwich... Under $20... for actually good food, at a real deli that doesn't try to hide that they're a deli because they feel it lowers their brand for some reason, in California (with their high prices), and in Beverly Hills like a block off of Rodeo? And you're telling me I should pay $31 for a similar, but lesser quality, sandwich in Dallas? The fact that they serve a lot of their sandwiches standard on some sort of scooped out, inverted bagel is a mess as well. A friend of mine ordered one and it was ridiculously tiny for the price. You can go to Bird Bakery a few doors down and pay significantly less, get significantly more, and better quality. In summation, the prices are nuts for the portions and quality of the food being served. Even comparable to Beverly Hills pricing, the pricing here is nuts. Things that shouldn't be salted much are over salted and things that should be salted a decent amount aren't salted at all. Their hours are weird, especially for the "not a deli" counter. Also just a slap in the face that they take Jewish deli food and serve it, yet won't call themselves a deli. I remember seeing on the side before it opened, and possibly still since, that they call themselves a restaurant and market, if I remember correctly. How hard would it be to just combine those two words, describe your restaurant correctly, and call it a deli? Even if it is a very overpriced deli that is severely lacking in taste. read more

Please note: even with a reservation and arriving 15 min. prior to your reservation, it can still take 45 min. to be seated. You must also deal with them trying to make you feel like a burden by asking "how much longer?" and then being loudly and rudely lied to by the male hostess. I did have a 78 year old member of our party which was never offered a chair during our 45 min. wait in the crowded area as we were constantly being bumped into by the the poor waitstaff just trying to get drinks from the bar. I will say the service is clearly still being figured out- a bit of a shitshow, but once that is settled it will be nearly perfect. Think these bad ratings are rating this as a bagel store, it's not. It's trendy, it's probably a better brunch than anywhere else in HPV, the bagel tower situation is meant to be slightly absurd and you just have to lean in. Loved eating brunch here last weekend. Service is really solid. The food and drinks are the best part. We ordered the oysters as a starter and they were pretty much what you'd expect. Really good quality. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with an everything bagel instead of toast and you can tell they use really quality ingredients. The manhattan cocktail was strong and nicely flavored. Parking in a little tough on weekends since the complex is very busy, but if you're willing to valet it is not going to be an issue.
