I personally thought they were ok. Not a restaurant I'd keep in my regular rotation. I think they've been on the social media promotion band wagon. When we visited this weekend, there was a table with 3 ladies speaking quite loudly and proudly that they were influencers. They had ordered a huge spread across two tables for 3. Needless to say, there were a lot of take out boxes. I don't care for the social media hype. I care about the food and service. Service today was fine. There were several staff members around and it was easy to flag them down whenever we needed something. They also did come around the table occasionally to check on us. Food is where it fell flat. Overall, the food ate heavy and greasy. This is rare since Vietnamese food is often known for it's freshness and healthiness with all the veggies etc. We ordered a pork chop over broken rice with shrimp paste in soy paper. The rice was perfect broken rice, the pork was perfectly seasoned and fried nicely, has some nice lean bites and fatty bites. The problem was with the shrimp paste. It tasted stale and old and hard. It was off putting and really needed the nouc cham to help masks it. Second dish was what I usually order at all Vietnamese restaurants. Grilled pork with vermicelli. The one we got included 2 fried spring rolls (or ja yo). The spring rolls were good, I enjoyed them! The pork was a bit dry. Vermicelli was fine. Veggie mix only had romaine, cucumber, and bean sprouts. No basil or mints. The nouc cham was too bland to fix this dish. We needed more acid. There were too many raw garlic in the sauce that it gave us heartburn. The best thing we had was my ice tea. Simple jasmine tea was nice and thick, not watered down. Very refreshing and comes with refills. They have been here for a long time, and I want them to do well but I can understand why business has been slow of there are way better options out there right now. read more

I ordered a thit nuong (charbroiled beef) with rice, my beef did not taste like charbroiled beef. To be fair, I knew it was going to be off when I saw it come out, but I was too nervous to double check to see if it was actually the correct order. The color did not look like how the beef is usually cooked, nor did it have the same taste, and the cut was a bit thick. It felt like they gave me pho meat and grilled it. My friend had the pork chop and we shared an order of egg rolls, and that tasted okay! Everything was on the more affordable side compared to other Vietnamese restaurants these days. I've been here for Vietnamese pho before and thought it was just okay, but after coming back with friends, it was a disappointment. The beef stew served with a French roll was the worst dish we tried. The meat was tough, and the broth was thin like a soup. We expected it to be thicker--more like a sauce for dipping the bread. We also ordered the oxtail pho, and it came with a lot of excess fat that hadn't been trimmed. My friend had to spend quite a bit of time removing it before eating. My pho with rare beef, brisket, and tendon was fine, which is probably why I didn't think much of the place before. But after trying more of their specialty dishes, it's clear they struggle beyond basic pho options. One positive is that they are generous with the meat portions. From eating here and reading the other reviews written, I'm wondering if we are at the same Saigon Eden lol. The spring rolls crispy and absolutely delicious w the dipping sauce. Would def come back to order just that. The pho though... the noodles were all stuck together and didn't taste like fresh noods. The meats for the beef rib and the oxtail were not tender and didn't fall off the bones. Again, didn't taste fresh. We left a lot of food on the table bc it really was not good at all. Have come here quite a few times over the years and it's a solid pho place. Usually quick with no wait and a wide selection of Vietnamese food. Good for small or large groups Food 9/10 Their pho is delicious. Nothing above average, but it's consistent and flavorful with tender meat and fresh garnish. We asked for some extra limes and they gave us a whole bowl full of them which was perfect for me and my group as everyone loves limes to flavor their pho broth. Their che ba mau dessert was pretty good, but wasn't cold enough or didn't have enough ice causing it to become warm fast. Their warm sago dessert though was so comforting, not too sweet, and the perfect way to end the meal. Service 10/10 Attentive, quick, and cheerful staff! There are a plethora of restaurants to try in South Garfield and each of them stand on their own. Whether you're in the mood for Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, or American, this street has it all. To that end, for any restaurant to survive, they must be competitive and exceptional. Saigon Eden is no exception to that rule. The storefront is quite large. Sporting two dining rooms that are separated by a single connecting wall, this restaurant has large windows in the front that show off its interior design. There is ample parking in the back (be sure to drive a little slow or you'll miss the entrance to the parking lot) and plenty of seats to accommodate even the busiest hours. The decor is well done! Their menu is well organized: each page is dedicated to variations of a specific type of dish. Pho, dry noodle dishes, rice dishes, and appetizers are listed on a menu that is well made and resistant to wear and tear. I had the pork hock and crab pho while my date had their combination pho. The flavor of their broths was distinct and unlike any other Vietnamese restaurant I've been to...and I've tried many. The small portion is more than enough. However, for a few dollars more, you can upgrade most dishes to large. I say "most" because not all dishes can be enlarged; mine couldn't be and I was fine with that. The service is quick and courteous. We came on a Wednesday evening and one of their dining rooms was full. This wasn't an issue since their second dining room was mostly empty. We were seated upon arrival with no reservations made. Our waiter promptly took our order and removed our menus from the table. Food came out 5 minutes later and we enjoyed it quite a lot. Their accoutrements were verdant and crisp, I added plenty of herbs and bean sprouts to my pho. Would definitely come back to try other dishes. I was torn between my pork hock/crab dish and Bon Rieu. Cozy Vietnamese restaurant with very friendly staff (they do speak English but you'll get brownie points if you're able to communicate with them in Vietnamese!)! This has quickly become one of my favorite pho spots. It's lowkey and straightforward and you get excellent food very quickly at a reasonable price. The staff is very eager and sweet and the move efficiently. I got the Pho Kobe and the meat is so tender, broth is rich and comforting. My boyfriend got the Bun Tom Thit Nuong and I got to steal a few bites, the pork and egg rolls in fish sauce were so delicious. The Thai tea is not super sweet or concentrated compared to others that I've had admittedly. The last time I came here I got the Vietnamese iced coffee and they serve it with a phin, it was sooo good I'll prob order that again next time. Parking was fine, but can be challenging, there are a couple of parking lots in the area, but sometimes they've been full. The pho is a 2/5. First, the herbs. The cilantro and basil were old and wilted. I got the rare steak pho but the slices were more well done because of how dry it was. Noodles were stuck together and overcooked. Best part about it was probably the price, which was $12 for a medium size, considering most pho goes for about $16 nowadays. The vermicelli bowls were a bit better. The vegetables were fresher and the charbroiled beef wasn't too overcooked. The egg roll was nice and crispy. The fish sauce had a lot of flavor. If I ever come back, I'd probably get this over the pho. I guess it just depends on what you get because their menu is very extensive. This is our favorite Vietnamese place in the 626. The service is exceptional and our tummies always leave satisfied every time we dine here! We always order their pho (with meat on the side so it doesn't get overcooked), their charbroiled beef rice plate combo (w/ imperial rolls and the egg with the minced meat & vermicelli wrapped in bean curd). Their bun rieu is delicious too. I love that you can order a half order of the imperial rolls because as an appetizer they give you a lot! I was curious about the pennywort drink once and they were kind enough to give me a sample to try. Not my cup of tea but I can see why people like it! Of the many pho places I've had in San Gabriel/Alhambra area, I can definitely say Saigon Eden is a safe bet. There's no frills, just solid pho. I was famished from running and pho is my go to. The salty broth, rice noodles and beef slices are all what my body needs to replenish electrolytes, carbs and protein. I usually order extra noodles, because I need the extra calories. I was originally going to go to Golden Deli for their Banh Hoi, but the wait was over an hour. So, I decided to check out Saigon Eden, which is about a 10-minute drive from Golden Deli. Parking was a nightmare at 7 p.m. on a Friday night, but the food was amazing! I got the Banh Hoi with charbroiled beef and imperial rolls. I love this dish because it comes with tiny vermicelli noodles and a lettuce leaf to wrap everything together. It's super filling and only cost $14! You can't beat the price. Had a delightful dining experience on a Thursday evening at 5:30 PM! Meeting my friend for a catch-up date after a few months, and this place was perfect for it. Ample seating, friendly and attentive staff. The waitress, anticipating well, suggested hot tea as soon as she seated me (I arrived first). The tea was fantastic--I regret not asking for the name to recreate it at home! I ordered veggie pho with tofu, and my friend had beef pho with clams. They never rushed us, and we spent a leisurely 1.5 hours chatting, with refills of the excellent tea. Great service, atmosphere, and a perfect spot for catching up. Will definitely return! I came to Saigon Eden for a quick lunch. I just wanted to grab a Bahn Mi sandwich to take away, but I ended up sitting down at the restaurant while it was being prepared. One of the waiters was nice enough to bring over a glass of water while I waited. The restaurant itself was pretty nice and spacious, so it looked like a decent place to go with a big group. My Beef Bahn Mi sandwich was tasty, but it wasn't anything spectacular. I enjoyed the beef flavor, but I think the sandwich could have used a bit more sauce, to counteract the dryness of the bread. I didn't try anything else on the menu, so I'm not sure how the rest of their dishes tasted, but I was decently content with my Bahn Mi. This place used to be my go to pho restaurant so I'm extremely disappointed. For years I've been coming here and never had issues but recently the new employees seem to not be able to take orders correctly. On one incident we ordered a large rare beef pho with thin noodles but a small pho with tripe and tendon was brought out. When we informed them of the incorrect order they proceeded to argue with us that that's what we ordered. Eventually they took it back but brought out another incorrect order. To make matters worse these young employees are hanging out in the dining area, openly joking with each other instead of paying attention to the customers. I'm a sucker for giving this place another chance and just had the same experience. I would recommend trying a different place since this place just can't get orders straight. read more
