Saigon Eden is a restaurant that specializes in Vietnamese food; mostly pho, Vietnamese-inspired appetizers, and more. I ordered the Pho Chin Nam Sach, otherwise known as pho served with cooked beef, brisket, and beef tripe. The pho noodle soup was served with bean sprouts, Thai basil, and lime on the side. The noodle soup was indeed pretty delicious! The broth was very rich, the beef was tender, and the noodle soup tasted great when mixed with some sriracha. The staff were very attentive and the service was quick. There had a large indoor dining hall and some outdoor seating. I will definitely want to come back for their appetizers and more! read more

My Vietnamese bestie chose this place. She's very picky and she enjoyed her vermicelli bowl. I liked my rare beef pho as well. It was a little on the oily side though. But the broth had good flavor, the noodles were cooked perfectly and had good flavor. The noodles didn't have that weird stale taste that some places have when they don't rinse the noodles. It was tasty and satisfying. My husband had the lemongrass chicken on rice. We were all confused when it arrived at the table because it didn't look at all how we were expecting it to. We were planning to eat at Borneo but there was such a long wait so we saw this Vietnamese restaurant next door and decided to give it a try. We're so glad we went here instead because the food and service were really good. They're located off Garfield Ave. and share the same parking lot as the other restaurants in the same block and a few on Main St. Food: We both ordered #84 & #96 the vermicelli dishes with charbroiled pork, shrimp (grilled or shrimp paste), and egg rolls. It was really flavorful and so delicious. Good portion size and you can ask for extra fish sauce if needed. This was my friend's first time trying the Vietnamese vermicelli dish/bun thit nuong and they love it. Vert healthy option with half rice noodles and half veggies. FYI: the shrimp paste cost more than the grilled shrimp. Their egg rolls are made from the spring roll/rice paper not the wonton/egg noodle paper. It reminds me of Golden Deli's egg rolls. Atmosphere: Nice, decent size restaurant. The lady who we think is the owner is so kind and kept stopping by to see if we need anything. Note: You need to walk up to the counter to pay your tab, but they accept credit card payment. Plenty of parking in the parking structure off 1st street. No wait whatsoever. It's conveniently located with a parking structure next to it and you can enter from both the front and rear of the building. Bun Rieu (4/5): Solid, it used to be better years ago and they've changed the type of the tofu used but the broth is still good. Wish the crab patty mixture was not so ground up but taste is there. Pho Tai Nam Sach (3.5/5): I usually get this cuz I like tripe and got my bf into it too. It comes with the rare beef and well done brisket as well. Meat is very tender. Not a super standout or best pho out there but it's not bad. Cha Gio Egg Rolls (4/5): This is one of my faves, it always comes out super crispy and I love the pork vegetable meat mixture inside. It's pretty no frills and nothing very standout but a solid choice especially if you're not up for waiting to get a table at some of the other restaurants in the area here. I've visited the parking structure near Saigon Eden a few times, and I can't believe I never entered despite the light decorations outside the back entrance. Seating is pretty quick on weekday nights, and I came with a small group of friends. The first thing I noticed were their clean, brown tables, which aren't oily but still have quite a bit of shine. Around the restaurant, there is quite a bit of greenery which pairs well with the white interior. The atmosphere is quite relaxing and easy on the eyes; the best view is sitting facing the street, where you can't see the rush hour cars behind walls of plants, but they're still slightly audible. I ordered the Bun Bo Kho was very good. The taste was neither too strong nor too salty. It was rich in flavor and not spicy at all, with most of the flavor coming from the meats and salt. The beef had tons of fat, but I enjoyed the carrots and all of the sides that came with it. Pho hit the spot on a cold June gloomy day. I like how you can customize your pho here with any of their toppings. My usual is flank, meatballs and tripe with a side of cooked bean sprouts. The soup tastes light, but flavorful. Compared to other pho restaurants in the area, I feel like the broth does not rely on seasonings as much for flavor. They are also generous with the meat in the soups. The large doesn't look much larger than the medium, but it actually is. I can easily finish a medium soup, but cannot finish the large at all. Best beef comes from Kobe(st) Saigon Eden promises you Kobe beef on their pho. I can't say if it's true or not, but this is the most tender beef ever pho sure! You can literally inhale the beef. So smooth and tender. But it doesn't break. You can get that satisfying chew of a bite-sized beef. Some other beef can be tender because it was sliced paper thin, but once it enters the pot then it becomes like, well, paper. It just breaks and turn into morsel. The broth is a little bit sweet, but it's never sickly sweet. You won't get tired of it until you've found the bottom of the bowl. THEN you'd be asking yourself why did you order the large portion. I love this place! This is literally my comfort food spot, I've been at least 10 times in the past year now. The service is always spot on, the waiters are so smiley and happy to help. There's super easy parking in the back in the parking structure if you're not able to secure a spot directly behind the restaurant. This is a solid and inexpensive Vietnamese place. Nothing fancy, but some good, traditional Vietnamese dishes that most people will like. I have typically gotten the Pho whenever I have come here. But, recently I tried the Banh Hoi which was quite good, different and maybe better than Bun in my opinion. Though next time I may try one of the rice (Com) dishes. The Banh Xeo was ok. We had it a few times on our trip to Vietnam a few years ago, and it's not something you see often on menus here. Anyways, their version was ok, maybe a bit too stuffed to eat with your hands, and no rice paper to roll it up with, just lettuce. I like Saigon Eden. This place is walking distance from work so it's more of a convenience more than anything. Their pho will hit the spot when you're craving some but it's not the best. The rice plates are too salty for my taste. But they do give big portions so you can def make two meals out of it. I like that they have the shrimp paste with tofu curd because that's my favorite. What I did try for the first time here was pennywort juice, which is apparently quite common in Vietnam. I've never seen it served anywhere else before so decided to try it. The best way to describe this juice is grassy and sugar cane-y. Although, I'm not sure if it's naturally sweet or if there's added sugar but there's definitely some earthyness/herballyness to the flavor. This is my favorite pho spot. I actually usually go to the one in San Gabriel but has started to come to the Alhambra location. Both places have the same tastes so that's great. This review is based solely on service... the food delicious as usual... restaurant ambiance relaxed as it was a Tuesday evening, not many people. We have been here a number of times throughout the years as we are locals and always enjoy the food. This evening however we were surprised to see 3 young kids basically running the floor instead of the usual adults. We had to ask for them to take our order, a young guy came over took our order which by the way was fairly simple. 2 pho and half order of imperial rolls. Order was taken. All three employees proceeded to stand around having their own conversation, joking and laughing having a good old time. Nothing wrong except our Pho came out and no rolls, we waited a bit to inquire and when we did ask the same guy who took the order. He said oh they must still be making them... fair enough. However,never once did we see him go ask the kitchen, or even enter the kitchen to check on the status. He just went right back to standing around talking to the other two. We finished our Pho and asked for the check. Another of the employees a girl, came over and told us the amount which I asked her to correct. She looked surprised at my request until I pointed out that we never got those rolls even though I asked her colleague on the status. She proceeded to ask if we wanted to cancel the roll order or take them to go. Mind you, this was an "appetizer" and here we are done with dinner. I requested she cancel the order instead. As we were walking out another woman was kind enough to bring out some dessert which we graciously declined. We really hope that these kids were just covering for one evening and that they are not running the show from now on. If that's the case, the restaurant may be in big trouble. We have never had such terrible service at Saigon Eden even during their busiest as bad as what we had today. These kids need a serious lesson in customer service and restaurant service in general. read more

After the name change, the dishes gradually changed a bit, not like before but not as bad as now. In the past two years, my family went back to eat, and there were many dishes that were too bad. For example, the spring rolls did not have the aroma of taro, the spring rolls were too soft and not crispy. The Hue beef noodles and pho did not have the aroma of pho and Hue.
