Never coming back here again the person picking up the dirty dishes use the dirty napkins people had use to wipe their mouth ,hands etc to clean up the tips of all the sauces I was disgusted by this since I saw him doing it to two tables then it means he's doing it on every table. Saigon Eden is located in downtown Alhambra and very close to one of the free parking lots in Alhambra. I use to live here back in my teen years and I have to say, everything has changed for the better. Lots of free parking lots and places to eat and one of the cool spots is Saigon Eden! It's a local hang out spot for good pho that is tasty and flavorful. The noodles aren't hard and they are cooked really well and that to me is really important when your eating a bowl of pho. Came here for dinner with a group of friends and they were very attentive and also the food came quickly. Even though the food was finished they didn't rush us out and we sat for a bit to just chat. Tip: You can enter from the front or the back they have both entrances and exits that are open when they are open! So you can park in the free parking lot behind it. read more

I recently came here during lunch on a week day. There were plenty of tables so there was no wait. I was told this place used to be Pho 79. This restaurant is situated across from the Sprouts plaza and adjacent from the movie theatre. The food is mediocre. I've had better pho around the SGV. This was my first time here even though I've been around the area countless times. I ordered the House Special Pho (regular size). To me if you're going to to a new place, might as well try their "house special" since it would be their signature dish. I actually came here for lunch with a group of my colleagues. All of our orders were put into at the same time. Those who ordered pho got their food first, any dried noodles came second, and last the rice dishes. Just an FYI in case you order in a group and you're hungry. Might not always be in that order. When I got my pho, it looked pretty densely packed in the bowl. As I stick my chopsticks around the soup, meat, and noodles, it was all clumped together. The raw meat were stuck together. Nothing like having a huge clump of meat that's partially raw and cooked as a first bite. The noodles were partially cooked and partially raw. You can tell the ones that were stuck together were kind of still raw/hard. I really had high hopes for this place since I've heard it was comparable to Pho 79's quality. I might give this place another chance, probably to try one of the vermicelli dishes. read more

Had lunch here today with my friend. I ordered their medium House special Pho, peach green tea, and spring rolls. The pho was flavorful, and the meat was tender and just right. I went to this Vietnamese restaurant on a weekend with friends, craving Vietnamese. Like a lot of other restaurants in the area, Saigon Eden has a fairly large menu with various pho, vermicelli, banh mi, and rice dishes. While I've had banh xeo before (the deep fried crepe), I've never had banh uot (the steamed rice noodle sheets). I decided to get the banh uot with pork and imperial roll (essentially a spring roll). I think the imperial roll could have been sliced into smaller pieces, and it was a bit hard rather than crunchy. The flavor was on point though. The charbroiled pork was good, if not standard for Vietnamese restaurants. The rice noodle sheets themselves were pretty good as far as flavor, but maybe just a bit too firm with the texture. Overall, a solid Vietnamese restaurant for SGV, but maybe not the best in the area. read more

I've been to Saigon Eden at least 3 times and always enjoyed the food. This time around wasn't so pleasing. I ordered the Pho with rare steak and brisket. Upon having some brisket I noticed a foul smell and weird taste from the brisket and decided to take all of it out of my soup. As I was doing so I found a very long strand of hair. It certainly wasnt mine because I don't have long hair. When I told the waiter and showed him the hair, he apologized and brought me another soup. He gave me the same soup without the brisket this time as requested, except the soup was very VERY oily. As if they poorer a ton of oil right into my soup Purposely! I literally scooped out all the oil into the small bowl for the spoon. I showed the waiter again and he said, "oh so sorry, it was the kitchen". I was very disappointed that I would get served something like that after finding a hair in my soup. So he finally brings me a fresh bowl that had no oil in it and was normal like my first bowl. Anyways, I felt like sharing this because I thought it was very disrespectful. I never complain about food. But for this instance, I had to say something. TWICE. I won't be eating here again. Saigon Eden is my family's go-to Vietnamese restaurant. There is not a bad dish out of their huge menu selection. I particularly enjoy their sugar cane shrimp paste served with lots of condiments. My go-to Pho place. I think this place has been underrated. Pho is pretty good at good price.

Prices has gone up drastically and moving up very quickly too. I have three menus posted here starting from 2016 and they are raising at an astronomical rate of $0.75 cents on most items per year, or at least for the main courses like rice, noodles, and especially for their popular Pho soups, as well as for appetizers like fried Egg Rolls. Seems like a pretty consistent pattern and if this keeps going on, in two or three years we'd be paying minimum $12 for a medium-sized bowl of Pho, and $17 before taxes for the premium large bowl. That's insane, and I'm not even factoring in drinks! So if you planned on dining in (soon I hope) or order takeout for a family of 4, consider forking out close to $80-$100! This place was going to be my go to with my family of 5. Came on Saturday around 5 and when we left, there weren't that many people. This place has TVs if you want to catch the game. I personally like to come here for lunch or dinners if I am with a large party, because there's plenty of space here. Parking: Park at the structure off 1st Street. Food: Mediocre. I love this place! I think it's one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in the area, much better than the infamous slightly overrated and overpriced golden deli. I've tried Saigon Eden's beef pho, lettuce wraps, but my favorite is their beef stew paired with toasted baguette. It's perfectly flavored, sweet and salty enough. The old Pho 79 is now Saigon Eden! I really enjoy their food here. Whether it's the Pho Xe Lua (combination pho), Pho Ga (chicken pho), or the spring rolls, they're all freshly made and is delicious. The soup base here hits the spot! Very flavorful and it's hot. I'm not sure how much msg is used, but I don't believe it's that much to a point where your tongue can taste it. But I understand it's a necessity for restaurants to use it for flavor purposes. The spring rolls are tightly wrapped and is delicious. It comes with a Hoi-Sin dipping sauce that's already mixed with peanuts. Just be aware to not use it if you are allergic to peanuts please. The rolls are wrapped with shrimp, veggies, etc. And it's very good. I really like this place as it's also convenient for me. The prices are still very reasonable for their food. My large bowl of pho was $7.95, and the spring rolls was around $5.00 for two rolls. They also have other items you may choose from... maybe a rice plate combo with meat and egg, a different pho noodles combo, or your choice of a Vietnamese beverage. I would choose their hot Viet coffee with the dripper. Guarantee to wire you up. Lol. The service was just okay. The waitress will come right away to take your order and bring your drinks. Then again for your food. Anything after, you'll need to flag them down, or else you're on your own. You will need to walk up to the counter and pay too. A very typical pho place. The place is nice as it's well kept. Nothing has really changed inside since Pho 79, as maybe only a new layer of paint. Well, possibly new carpet too. There is a public parking structure nearby to park and a short walk over. Don't attempt to park directly behind their restaurant as it's always filled and it's too tiny. I've been coming here for over a year now after one of my favorite places for pho got closed down, this is my new favorite place. Food is great, I usually get pho or sometimes when I want something fresh on a hot weather I get the charbroil beef with shrimp, imperial egg rolls, and vermicelli. They make every penny worth it! One of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. About the food - delicious, authentic, and reasonably priced. We enjoy the vermicelli cold noodles with grilled pork and some sweet sauce, that I like to call crack because you just want more and more of it. Used to be a fan of the Old Pho 79, but felt that the quality went down the last couple of years. Excited that Saigon Eden has taken over the place. 4 stars! Saigon Eden did a pretty good job renovating the place, producing a pretty inviting looking restaurant. Pho 79 was a hole in the wall type restaurant in its last couple of years, and there's very few clues left to remind me of the old Pho 79. Glad to see also that Saigon Eden seems to have kept most of the old staff from Pho 79. The same overeager waiters who ask for your order within a minute of sitting down are still working! Like Pho 79, there's so much on the menu, and I don't think I'll ever get close to trying out all the food offerings. For the last three or so times that I've been to Saigon Eden, these particular 5- star items stand out to me: Com Bi Cha Nem Nuong Tau Hu Ky: Shredded Pork, Baked Egg, Charbroiled Meat Ball, and Fried Ground Shrimp in Bean Curd Skin on Steamed Rice. At less than $10, this dish is a steal! Such a huge portion, and it's definitely big enough to share. Loved the fluffy baked egg as well as the flavorful meat ball and ground shrimp. It's the perfect dish if you come hungry! Pho Ga: Chicken Rice Noodle Soup. Such a delicious chicken soup! Very flavorful and full of chicken pieces. The Pho Ga at Saigon Eden is one of the best I've had, and I think it can definitely rival Golden Deli's version. Also, at less than $8, this dish is also a steal! There's a free City of Alhambra parking structure right behind the restaurant, but if you're lucky, you might score one of the six or so parking spaces right behind the restaurant. read more

When it comes to pho I can definitely recommend Saigon Eden. I can't really taste a difference between Saigon Eden and golden deli when it comes to the pho Bo. But at Saigon Eden you don't have to wait and the food comes out really fast. The broth is super rich and has this "buttery" smell and taste to it. The egg rolls are really good too. Wouldn't really recommend the banh mi though. But all in all very yummy place! read more

This place is never crowded. So if you're looking for an instant sit down place, this is it. Plenty of tables. Food is decent. Nothing mind blowing. One thing I have to give this place credit for is that their service is quick. Each time that I've been there, five minutes after I'm done ordering my pho, it is out and ready for me to eat. However, each time I've been here, there is always an overpowering smell of bleach in the air. It definitely takes away from the food. Inhaling a mix of broth and bleach and not appetizing. (For some reason, I keep forgetting and keep returning to this place, haha.) Parking: none on the front of the street. There is a small private lot in the back with about 4 or 5 spaces? So you can play Russian Parking Roulette and hope to get lucky.
