After all the great reviews I was so excited to make the hour drive from my home to Resturant. First the good part the staff was very nice. BUT the food was not good, they put the same thick black sauce loaded with Soy sauce to where it was brine, in all three dishes that we got. I hate doing bad reviews but I wish someone had before Me. Went here based on other Yelp reviews...they steered me wrong! Got here on a Sunday around 1:30 for lunch. 3 tables had customers, 4 others had not been cleaned after previous patrons left. We waited for a few minutes until the man finally noticed that there were no clean tables for a group of 4. Looking at the photos on Yelp, we noticed that the food was served on the traditional white and blue Thai dishes - a positive sign; however, they had bottles of Sriracha sauce instead of traditional chili sauce on the tables... Should have realized that was a red flag. We ordered 3 dishes to split amongst us. The curry was tasty but the portion size was tiny! The Pad Thai was a gross salmon pink color and had no flavor. The cashew nut dish was extremely salty. To add insult to injury, their prices are higher than what we would pay in SoCal! Definitely not going back here again when were in Tucson again. read more

Awesome food. Forgot to take pics because I ate it all. Friendly service, not too intrusive. The only downside was when some guy came in off the street, placed an order very confusingly (I want the hot coconut soup, yeah dude, which one) and then went totally Karen because the wait was too long. It's Friday night, dinner time, and you can see the quality of the food on the other very happy tables. The owner came out, put up with this man fussing like a toddler over the restaurant's inability to bend time to his will. The icing on the cake was when after his charge was reversed and he said, loudly, "AND WHAT ABOUT MY SEVEN DOLLAR TIP?!" After he blustered his way out, I couldn't help myself I said out loud, "what a jerk!" The other tables agreed. Tried once years ago and I was craving drunken noodles so I went back. Not the best but definitely pretty good.

So wifey and I hit up Saing last night on the way home from Christmas tree shopping. As we had our monster of a two year old with us, we decided that our first time dining here would be take-out. That was our first mistake. The woman who answered the phone was undoubtedly Thai, and English certainly wasn't her first language. Due to this fact, I basically said "yes" to everything she said in response to my order. What resulted was likely one of the HOTTEST, and MOST flavorful Spicy Beef salads that I have ever eaten. So hot in fact my wife had to drink a glass of milk with it when we got home. Second mistake, I didn't order enough. This stuff is raw, authentic Thai, and the complexity in flavors between the salty, sour, sweet, and spicy is beautiful. If great Thai were a symphony, this makes American food a 6 year old playing "Hot Cross Buns" on their recorder. This stuff moves you. Sure, the interior of the place is a bit grim, needing a good scrub and shine, but the food is aces. I will certainly be back with the wife, this time to dine-in, to protect her mouth from the abuse. read more

Sa'ing Thai will always have a special place in my heart...and belly!! I have been to what seems like dozens and dozens of other Thai restaurants and this place is HANDS DOWN the best Thai food restaurant I've ever been to. I have been going to this restaurant on a weekly basis for the past 4 years. That's saying a lot because it's a good 20 minutes from my apartment..it's kind of out in the middle of nowhere, but sooo worth the drive. It's that good. Unfortunately-we moved and man am I missing this grub. First, the atmosphere is very laid back. It's a family-run restaurant. The family comes straight out of Thailand. They are VERY nice people, and kind of became like family (as silly as that sounds) because we saw them so often! The cook comes out among the tables checking on everyone, and they are very attentive. Service is excellent: they're great about filling your water, because you'll definitely need it to quench the spicy food. They are quick too-even if you have a large party, they are very good about getting your food out promptly, and better yet-it's always steaming hot. The best soup on the menu is by far the Hot and Sour soup. It's ridiculous, and it packs a punch. It has fresh garlic, cilantro, lemon grass, mushrooms, green onion, chicken, and all sorts of mouthwatering ingredients. I'll agree with fellow yelpers that the first bite of soup gets me every time-it chokes you up but it's amazing! Then of course you have to get the crab puffs. This place has the most amazing crab puffs! Cream cheese, crab, and I'm fairly certain they place Thai chilis in there for a little heat and flavor. They're amazing and served with a homemade peanut sweet and sour dipping sauce which has loads of minced garlic swimming in it. My favorite dish which I dang near ordered every time I went is the Panaeng curry. Simply delicious. Sweet, salty, spicy, peanuty, creamy. Served very warm, most of the time with fresh lime leaves and Thai basil, bell peppers, choice of meat and bamboo shoots. Out of this world. Their green curry is also very delicious, a lot hotter though, and it has the most delicious crunch green beans. Yum! They have a great lunch special that comes with soup, usually some kind of spring roll or dumpling and then your main dish. A lot of food for a very good price, it's only about $8 (they recently raised their prices a little bit). I've tried several things on the menu and there is nothing on it that is anything less than divine. My number one piece of advice though is to stick to the authentic dishes! Get curry! Live a little! Try their spicy noodle dishes, they are insanely good and the sauces are out of this world. Don't order something stupid like fried rice...because though it's delicious-it's still just fried rice. This place rocks. Lunch specials at Saing Thai are the fantastic! My co-workers and I crave this place. Happy days are when we order take out and bring it back to work. My favorite is the drunken noodles with tofu. The flavor is incredible. It is crazy delicious! My friend B is obsessed with the spicy pad thai but there are days that she will switch it up and have the drunken noodles. Customers can choose between regular pad thai and spicy pad thai. I will say that it appears you have got to like the heat if you go with the spicy. My friend JD never changes his order and always has the pad thai with chicken. The lunch special comes with soup that is scrumptious. B and I always rave about how great the soup tastes. We straight up love it. Lunch special also includes a veggie spring roll and rice. Extremely reasonably priced lunch special, which includes enough food that I can make it into two meals. It is either lunch and dinner or lunch for two days. I am a major fan of Thai food and Saing Thai is my favorite in T-town. It's worth the drive to Rita Ranch. read more

Oh Saing Thai, I will sing your praises til the cows come home. And they will, since you mostly service pork and chicken. And holy cow, do you serve it well. Delicious that is. Black tea, chai style. I live in Rita Ranch and I've been burned by a couple of *bad* asian places in this area. I was nervous to try Saing Thai's. But then I read a few glowing reviews and decided to give it a go. I went in mid-afternoon to a mostly empty restaurant - it nearing 3pm so this is expected. I was greeted by two lovely women who asked if I'd been there before (nope, first time), and what types of food I like (almost everything), and how hungry I was (very). I ended up going with some crab puffs - a larger sized order was only $3.95 - and Pad Thai for $7.95. I made it in time for the lunch special which also got me a spring roll and some soup of the day. I tried some thai iced tea as well. The tea came out and was divine. Wonderful homemade recipe that was spot on perfect. The crab puffs came out - large dumpling shaped, cream cheese and crab meat filled puffs - with some sweet dipping sauce. They were wonderful. The soup was *fantastic* - perfect spicy burn on each swallow, with bits of veggies, tofus, and tortilla strips. Finally came the Pad Thai and spring roll. The spring roll was standard, but delicious. The Pad Thai was absolutely exquisite. Great flavor, great spice, plenty of chicken. Just yum! And the price was great, too. Oh my God. This was the best yellow curry I have ever had. I went last night with someone who had been before and recommended the yellow curry, pad thai and crab puffs. The crab puffs were good and yummy, crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle. Then out came the yellow curry. They didn't ask us when level of spice we wanted, which at the time I had never experience before. I do not handle spicy well at all. But the curry was filled with onions, potatoes and chicken and tons of spice! It was super flavorful and the sauce was the perfect level of thickness. Enough to coat the veggies and chicken, not too watery and not gelatinous. I am going to be back for the yellow curry for sure. I am both a thai food snob and a thai food junkie. The snob part of me can't give this place more than 4 stars as I don't believe Saing Thai Cuisine merits my "As good as it gets!" I can name a bunch of thai places I like better than here... the problem is, none of them are in Tucson. Not even in Arizona, for that matter. The junkie part of me, however, is a BIG TIME SAING THAI CUISINE FANBOI -- for lunch. This restaurant satisfies my key lunch factors: deliciousness, close proximity to work, and a price cheaper than what I would typically pay at my work cafeteria. The hubby and I have become Thai food lovers in the past couple of years, and thanks to my fellow yelpers we found Saing Thai Cuisine. It was a 30 minute drive from our home, but due to the great reviews we were willing to make the drive. We have been to Saing twice now and we had great food on both occasions. We walked in and were greeted and given menus immediately. We ordered our usual entrees which are shrimp pad thai, lunch cashew nut chicken (comes w/ rice, egg roll and soup), green curry, and tom yum gai. The food was so delicious... Everything was perfect, from the flavor to the level of spicyness in each dish. I have to say that the green curry was one of the best I have had. I also want to mention the hot & sour soup because it was really good. It had a lot of flavor and was topped with fried wonton strips. The tom yum gai soup was also very flavorful, one of the best in my book! The thai iced tea was very good too. This is not a fancy restaurant with great decor, but they do have great food. This restaurant is family owned (everyone works there, from the son to the dad, mom, sister?, and grandma) and they are really nice. The service can be a little bit slow when the place is full but it is worth the wait. The second time we went, we were starving but decided to make the drive anyway since we craved their food. That's how good it is. I wished I lived closer to them...but definitely worth the drive! read more

I was craving Thai food one Sunday night and found this gem on Yelp. It has garnered the highest score of all the Thai places in Tucson and so, once again, we placed our faith in Yelp and decided to check the place out. The owner was the one serving us and he was friendly, attentive and had a great sense of humor. When he asked my husband whether he'd prefer "American Spicy", I chimed in and said that my husband likes spicy foods and so "Thai Spicy" would be great. (Note: "Thai Spicy" should be approached with extreme caution. It's a different level of spiciness indeed!) We ordered hot and sour soup (two thumbs up!), crab puffs (two claws up!), shrimp pad Thai for me (sweet, spicy and very good), and drunken noodles for my husband. His drunken noodles were extremely spicy. He loved it but he was sweating so much because of the crazy level of spiciness. Overall, we really had a very good first experience at Saing and we'll definitely come back! read more

This is by far one of my favorite places to go in all of Tucson, and it's worth every minute of the drive when I'm in the mood for Thai that I LOVE. Let me preface the rest of this review by saying that when I first moved to this oh so glorious city I was on the hunt for Hot and Sour soup. I was trying to get as close to a little restaurant in the middle of Aviano, Italy that my friends and I used to frequent. It was D-E-Licious. I found said soup at this restaurant and it was as close as I could get, and I was happy with that. I usually try as many different things as I can when I go to places, but my tried and true meal here is a cup of Hot and Sour Soup with The Chicken Patt Thai, and a Thai Iced Tea.... I wish I had it all right now. The food here is superb. I've been to a few others, and I roll to this little plaza every time because I've found their establishment. Like most places I try to frequent it is locally owned and that just makes it that much better for me. The family owned establishment is awesome and their customer service the same. **Would a chain that wasn't open on the weekend offer to make you the soup you crave and dream about just because you called and they answered on a Sunday? Would they? Please let me know if that's the case.** That is what won my dedication to Saing Thai Cusine. They made me soup when they didn't have to... On that cold Sunday afternoon LOVE was put into creating said soup and that was the only thing that saved me. Saved me from the disappointment of having to find something else that just wouldn't fill that void in my soul. After searching and reading tons of reviews on Yelp and Google, I decided to try eating at this restaurant. My boyfriend and I arrived relatively late in the evening so it was pretty empty but the employees gave us their full attention. I decided to try a creamy coconut curry and my god it was some of the most delicious curry I've ever eaten in my life. When you eat this delicious food you can tell that the employees have cooked it carefully and that they pay attention to your requests. For example, I requested it relatively mild and unlike some curry restaurants I've been to they complied and added the perfect amount of spices to bring out the natural flavor of the sauce. I also like how they include rice when you order curry; some places actually charge $3 or more for a separate plate of rice. The waiter filled up the water glasses often and made sure that we were comfortable. I wish this establishment was closer to my home because it takes a good 10-15 minutes to get there. It's also worth nothing that they raised almost all of their items by $1 because of economic difficulties. I kind of regret coming here now because I have cravings for it! When I go there again I'd like to try these crab puffs everyone raves about. If you haven't eaten here you're missing out! read more

Being half Thai and having family in Thailand I grew up around Thai food. This place is decent but I was expecting a little better considering there are Thai chefs in the back. First the reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because I ordered two Thai teas and I was expecting regular sized drinks and instead we got these little kiddie sized cups... which made us pretty upset. Second I got pineapple fried rice and it was very plain no special seasonings just tasted like rice and shoyu. Third I got the red curry, it was WAY too sweet. I got home and was choking on the sweetness. This place was okay but if I want to treat my family & friends to authentic Thai food this isn't the place I'd go to. read more

I got vegetable pad Thai and spring rolls. The pad Thai had no flavor other than some weird egg-like sweet taste which didn't resemble anything Thai that I've had. Pretty legit Thai food, amof I think it's the best in Tucson plus its the only place I know that have the Thai hot peppers condiment on the table. I used to consume the whole jar when I come here (mostly dinner). after few times I thinks its better not to do that just for my stomach sake....:)) I am sure I don't have to elaborate any further. Everything that I tried was nicely seasoned and not like most of the Asian restaurant in town has that generic flavor. My fav was "Gan ga rei" Its the wrong spelling and thats how I say it every time thus never once got me in trouble...:)) Since I moved away from that side of the town for awhile. But owner still remembers me and greeted me with the most genuine smile and asked how come he haven't see me for long time. Tucson has some great Thai restaurants. Unfortunately most are closed on Sunday. We drove 28 minutes out of town to find this place. It's in a small strip mall and has a fairly plain decor. That's where the " plain" ends. We started with the Tum Yum Gai soup. Plenty for two. Served in a Hot Pot. It was the one of the best I have ever had. For my entre I had the three pepper Pad Kra Pao #35 with chicken. It was just hot enough to tingle your tongue. Cooked perfectly with peppers and Thai basil. I usually take half of my entre home when I have soup or an appetizer. Nope ate every bit, couldn't help myself. Velvet had the Rard Nah #51 with chicken. Egg noodles covered with stir fried veggies and chicken. She loved it. If you love authentic Thai food this is the place in Tucson. It is totally worth the drive. Saing Thai Cuisine, can I take you home with me to Houston, please? AMAZING, authentic, flavorful reprieve after five days of Mexican food while driving through the Southwest. Made a pitstop in Tucson for lunch on the way to Cali and came upon this unassuming little thai restaurant in the middle of a stripmall. Tom Kha Gai - creamy cacophony of flavors, with a nice little spicy kick. Better than the best I've had in New York, I'd even say. Big portion. Comes in a steaming metal hotpot contraption with its own little flame. MMmmm.. hot soup available throughout the meal. I like. Chicken Satay - pretty standard peanut sauce, but very juicy morsels of chicken. Well seasoned. Fried fish with tamarind chili sauce - I loooove fish. and I looove anything drenched in chili sauce. a little bit sweet, a little bit sour, a little spicy, and a whole lotta DELICIOUSNESS. crisp on the outside, flaky and soft on the inside. the flavor is infused in every bite. Pork Larb salad - minced pork, lots of hot peppers, red onion, cilantro and a citrus-y marinade. not as sour as i'm use to larb being, but still solid. my least favorite dish of the evening, but still 3 out of 5 stars where everything else was 4 or 5. I have come here several times and the only problem is that their lunch specials are not that flavorful as other items on their menu. I just recently order the red curry with tofu and vegetables and pad kee mao with tofu and vegetables to go and it was really good. I was quite surprised since I wasn't a fan of their lunch specials. Since we don't have Thai places in Sierra Vista, we have to drive to Tucson to get it -- we've been to almost every other Thai place in Tucson, looking for authentic Thai cuisine. Every place we went, the food was ok, but not great. This place has GREAT Thai food -- The yellow curry is good (but they don't put carrots in it and I love the carrots), but the PaNang curry is GREAT! Whenever my daughter comes visit from Tucson, I have her stop by here and get 4-5 dishes to bring to SV. Sometimes, we'll even drive up on a weeknight if we are really hankering for Thai -- it's just that good. I've never had a bad dish here. Just ate here for dinner. This is a small mom and pop restaurant with amazing food. For being such a small restaurant, it was really quite busy. The only downside of the visit was a lengthy wait for the food to be prepared and delivered. The food was definitely worth the wait though. Since this is a mom and pop shop, there were only 3 people operating the restaurant, the son included. The wife can be seen through the kitchen door preparing the meals while the husband and son take the orders and serve the customers. Even though there were only a handful of people dining in the restaurant at the time, there were a lot of take out orders being called in and picked up. With the wife doing the cooking by herself, and the husband and son helping out when they can, the wait time for the food was a little lengthy. While speaking with the husband, he noted that lunch time is much, much busier than the dinner hours. My advice for people trying this restaurant for the first time would be to determine how much time you have for your meal. For those who are low on time, it may be best to visit during the evening hours or even calling for take out and avoid the lunch hours. For those who have more time to spare, the food is definitely worth the waiting for at the restaurant. In addition, there are plenty of photos along the walls that show off the Thai culture. Each table has several place mats that highlight various types of fruits, vegetables and delicacies in Thailand. The husband and son were very friendly and very talkative. And now for the dishes. But before I review the dishes we tried, I should note that each table has a selection of about 5-6 different condiments to accompany your dishes in addition to salt and pepper. For those who are concerned about ordering dishes that may be too spicy, don't worry, you can always order the dishes mild and then added more heat and spice using the condiments to your preference. The condiments at the table were: salt, pepper, green chili peppers in vinegar, pickled red chili peppers, red pepper flakes/powder, crushed peanuts, hot chili oil, and Sriracha sauce. I remember seeing the husband constantly refilling the condiments as they run out with the refills he kept in the refrigerator. This may bring peace of mind to those dining knowing that the condiments out on the table having been sitting around for long periods of time. We started off dinner with an appetizer, the Tao Hoo Tod. It is a dish of lighting fried pieces of tofu served with a side of sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts. The sweetness of the sauce went very well with the battered tofu. The peanuts added a nice nutty flavor to offset the sweetness as well as add a nice crunchy texture. The second dish we tried was the zesty chicken. This dish consists of small pieces of chicken that have been breaded, and the stir fried so the outside breading is very crispy and firm, while the meat is still moist and juicy. It comes topped in a sweet and sour sauce with carrots, onions pineapple and bell pepper. I found the dish even more enjoyable if you tossed on some of the crushed peanuts to give it an extra crunch. To offset the sweet dishes we ordered, we also tried their famous green curry. The curry comes your choice of ingredient, chicken, beef, shrimp and (i think) tofu? We tried the beef curry. It comes in a medium sized bowl, service with green beans, bamboo shoots and green bell pepper soaked in their famous green curry. The curry comes served with rice. If you happen to need more rice to soak up any extra curry, or sauce from your other dishes, don't hesitate to ask for more. The husband gave us plenty of rice to accompany all of the dishes we ordered, not just the curry. The third dish we tried was the Mee Krob Rad Nah. Like the curry dishes here, you have your choice of meat or vegetables. We ordered our Mee Krob Rad Nah with tofu. This dish contains egg noodles topped with broccoli, peas, carrots and mushrooms topped in a gravy sauce. Don't be fooled by the topped in gravy sauce. The dish seems more like a noodle soup dish as there was ALOT of gravy. This wasn't bad, but my first impression from reading the description was that it would have been a bed of noodles topped with sauce, however, it ended up being a soup bowl of noodles in a sea a vegetables and gravy. It was still delicious nonetheless. Our last dish was the Seafood Combo. It has a selection of shrimp, oysters, squid, imitation crab and vegetables mixed in a white sauce served in a bowl made out of fried wantons. The food here is the best Thai food I've had in Tucson. Even though this place is located in Vail and I live way on the north side of Tucson, I will definitely drive the distance to eat Thai food here again. I will definitely come back again. read more

"Sorry, there's a few decent Thai places here in town, but we should stick to other cuisines." This place turned me into an absolute liar. It is exactly what I look for in a low key Thai restaurant. I recommend any of the curry dishes, they're extremely flavorful and can also be extremely spicy (if you ask for it). FAST Review Food: (5/5) I wish I could say that I know what good Thai food is, but, like most other people I'm sure who use Yelp as a vehicle to express their opinions on a certain food establishment, I cannot claim absolute knowledge of what is good, authentic Thai/French/Italian/(insert culture/country here) and what isn't. What I can tell you, subjectively, is that their Pad Thai is like crack for me. Or, maybe it is like Oxycodone, and their hot and sour soup is like a pint of Smithwick's. Worst service EVER. Had to get my own drinks for my family. Staff has zero hustle and left the floor unattended for up to 5 min at a time. They prioritized to go orders before dine ins therefore many of us didn't get served for at least 45 min, while the to gos got their food and were out the door in half the time. I am no expert on Thai food, but I do know when something is just delicious. I have been here three times and the food has been excellent every time. Curry is sweet and spicy, but not over the top. After eating nothing but (albeit delicious) tacos in Mexico for two weeks, I was craving Thai food and decided to drive way out to the boonies to check this place out. Look, I'm not a huge curry girl. I mean, I like curry, but I generally prefer the flavoring of ginger and garlic and chili and basil WITHOUT a thick creamy sauce. Saing Thai converted me on the spot. After one bite into the red curry with chicken, I was engaging in a spoon sword-fight with my partner to get more. And more. And more. What was supposed to be a mere sample of the dish ended up being a shareholder take-over. The flavor was deep and layered and still somehow was fresh. The spice was on point. As for the drunken noodles with tofu that I ordered for myself, it pleased me less. The sauce was fairly oily, and the flavor bored me. It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. Just not special. It did have considerable spice which was nice (but easily tamed with a tasty, subtly smokey Thai iced tea). The restaurant itself is just on the border between cozy/intimate/warm and sparse/pragmatic/cafeteria. But it leans a bit more to the warm side so I like it. This review is from a Cali girl who loves Thai food and had access to the best restaurants in SoCal! This is THE best Thai place in all of Tucson!! Finally, some good asian food in this town of tacos and burgers. Spicy at this restaurant actually means spicy for once! Every other Thai place I've tried here I've always asked for extra spicy and well... it was never spicy. I just wish their Yum Woon Sen had more lime without me having to ask for it. :) Be sure to try the Tom Yum! Best stuff for cold weather. It was a complete miss for me. I ordered the pad thai and the noodles were too watery for my taste. There was a very strong egg yolk taste in the dish. The color was off, I am used to seeing a caramel color. I suppose the caramel color is from getting cooked in a wok at high temperature. This dish was almost clear. The noodles in this dish were not the traditional flat noodle I am used to seeing. The tables are labeled and we sat at A2. The table and walls were dirty. There was food splattered all over. If you see this place place and you are hungry, keep driving. read more

Alright just had some Saing again yesterday, I used to work 5 mins away and made a weekly visit some friends ordered it and picked it up and Sweet Baby Jesus did i miss it the hot & sour soup is a religious experience and i can't pronounce the other stuff but all amazing you are missing out on amazing food if you havnt been to saing Try the Thai Iced Tea its awesome - Anthony B. out !!! read more

This place never disappoints. Basically any time I am in Tucson I eat here because there are no Thai restaurants where I live. The staff is friendly and treats me well all the time. This seems like a family run business and has a very homey feel to it. I never ventured to ask, but I think it is a husband, wife, son, and maybe an aunt who run this place. I would recommend Saing Thai to anyone. This food is best enjoyed after a long mountain bike ride and washed down with a choice from the selection of their Thai beers. My favorite dish is the seafood combination Pad Thai and my wife's is the Pad Kra Tiem. Awesome place to get some food in a family friendly atmosphere. read more

Awesome curry! This has to be some of the best Thai in Tucson. I highly recommend the green and red Curry's. The flavors are wonderful and the restaurant staff is very friendly. I'm so glad I live close to here so I can enjoy this on a regular basis. read more
