Was very happy to have been able to get a reservation last Friday night. Once we were seated the service was perfect. Appetizer started with was the Tiger Ceviche which was absolutely delicious and perfect for the two of us. Went very well with the Chardonnay. Shared dinner included the Elk Chops and the lobster appetizer. Both were excellent! Highly recommend this restaurant and we're certainly looking forward to going back there soon ! read more

The ceviche was my favorite part of the meal. Our server was pleasant and attentive! But I think for the price the food is really bland and mediocre. It's a place to get pretty pics to post on instagram but I wasn't that Impressed. I'll come back for drinks but pass on the food next time unless it's an appetizer. We started with the Shrimp Aquachile and Caulfilower Ceviche; Then moved on to salads, and ordered the Butternut Squash salad, Roasted Beets salad, and Avocado wedge. They are trying to be a Vegas style dining; it took us 3 to 4 times -request for a refill on our water until the waiter not the assistant to give us our refills; they kept forgetting to comeback with the pitcher (not alcohol hmm ), and of-course they kept trying to apologize ; the food was good, agua chile, eggplant and gf options were good. We were seated outside -ambiance was good, party for 2 "table" could of been a little bigger, understood why. staff who smoke' even on their breaks, should not be visible to the customers entering in to the building- didn't look appealing/appetizing to us. From start to finish Saizon you were fantastic! Highly recommend the grilled oysters, winter risotto, scallops, prime rib and pineapple "date" cake. The What's up Doc and Blood Orange Negroni cocktails were ahhmazing. We also ordered the corn churros, white asparagus and choco taco which were good but I'd maybe order something else. I honestly really enjoyed the ambiance of Saizon. My boyfriend and I went yesterday and it was lovely. We started by ordering a cocktail called the Kingston and berry white. They were delicious. The costilla was divine. Our favorite dish was the prime rib that we both ordered. I personally loved it but my boyfriend thought that the sides could have been better. I loved having the cebollas because it reminded me of when my family would have carne asadas at our house and grill cebollas and it would accompany the skirt steak. We did enjoy the mango 50/50 for desert but we weren't wowed by it. We thought that every other dish was plated beautifully except this one that just came in a white bowl. The mango sorbet was a bit sweet but it was accompanied by the vanilla ice cream that toned it down a bit. Overall, it was a great night and the service was excellent and I cannot wait to make another reservation and try more. read more

This restaurant was incredible! From the moment we walked in, I knew it was going to be amazing. My husband and I are big foodies, finding great restaurants is our favorite thing about traveling. We've been to many incredible restaurants and we were so excited to have a new unique restaurant in our home town. We walked in to an 8:30 reservation on a Tuesday evening, and it was packed!! Saizon is unlike anything in Fresno/Clovis. The decor/ambiance, music etc is very trendy and vibey. We got the guacamole to start and it was so fresh and delicious; we called it "Sexy Guac", it was dressed up beautifully but didn't steer away from that great traditional guacamole flavor. We shared the Wagyu short rib tamal and Costilla, the meat was so tender on both dishes, and the tamal flavoring was familiar yet different. You could taste each flavor independently from one another, yet they blended so nicely. We finished with the choco taco of course, divine! Celebrated my birthday here with friends. All left the place raving about the experience. Atmosphere was modern and trendy but comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Menu was fun, most items are made for sharing which was great so we got to try a lot. Everything was delicious. Standouts for me included the risotto, Al pastor bao, cauliflower ceviche, and wild mushroom tlayuda and grilled lobster. Best dining experience I've had in Fresno. For a brand new restaurant we didn't sense any growing pains at all, everything was smooth top to bottom. I'll be back! read more

So we went to Saizon tonight but it really isn't going to be my favorite. My general impression is it's overpriced for what you get. It seems to try too hard to be upscale. I ordered the Saizon margarita thinking it would be a signature drink but for $15 I expected more. The glass was a plain rather small glass and had some salt on the outside but not around the rim. The glass wasn't even filled as much as it could have been. We had the guacamole which was good and it was served with what seemed like hand made, small tostada tortilla chips. We ordered the beet "salad" which was fine. Other items the table ordered were the relleno and taquitos. They were ok as well. I ordered the king salmon which they had deconstructed into several chunks with sauce and other accompanying bits, mushroom I think, on the top. It was different but I didn't like it. Our service was just ok and I felt like we waited too much for our server to come by while the water server was by constantly. We were at a table with a bench seat on one side and chairs on the other. But we were blinded by the setting sun because they don't have proper shades for their windows. Firsts things first, If you are expecting Mexican food with a bowl of chips and salsa to get you started, this is not the restaurant for you. If you are looking for a culinary experience with nods to Mexican flavors, this is the place for you. After waiting a week and a half for reservations, and a bevy of energetic buzz and recommendations of this new eatery; I admittedly went in a skeptic. It is rare for the hype to match the experience, but Saizon delivered on all levels. This menu shaped up as a choose your adventure, do you choose the small shareable small plates, or a plated dinner. This evening we opted for the small plate path. The drink menu was full of creative interpretations of some classic cocktails. I opted for the Oaxacan Old Fashioned, which substitutes an "Agave Blend" (Blend of tequila and mezcals). The drink was well constructed, not too sweet, with good flavor. I am generally not a fan of the scotch/mezcal peaty notes, but the agave blend had a muted smoky undertone that made the drink work. We selected a number of small plates. We started with the Hamachi Crudo. This was elegantly plated on a sea of a light citrusy vinaigrette, topped with creamy avocado and a crispy twill. All of the flavors came together beautifully and didn't overpower the delicate Hamachi. Second and Third plates were salad courses the Winter Salad and Beets. Both of these were deftly dressed and showcased the produce beautifully. We moved on to the Costilla, a wagyu short rib that was both flavorful and tender, and finally finished with the Pork Belly Bao. The pork belly was tender, but the start of the show was the Bao, that steam pillow of deliciousness that matched the tenderness of the meat. I found myself wishing there were about 17 more of them on the plate. All in all, the culinary experience lived up to the billing and the lip service it has been getting. Being a new there are a few service kinks that need to be worked out, my drink was delivered about 10 minutes after my wife's after I asked when it was comin. That said, our server was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, made some great recommendations and more than made up for a little hiccup. read more

This was our 3rd time to Saizon and the restaurant and food are amazing but I need to brag about our server Jonah! We went in for dinner with some friends and literally gave Jonah full rein to bring us whatever dishes he felt we should try. We got a total of 8 completely different dishes and honestly we didn't love one more than the other. This has to be the prettiest restaurant in Fresno to date. The inside is amazing and a very nice bar. The food was also very good. It's not your typical Mexican restaurant so if you want traditional Mexican food this is not your place. We split the Avocado wedge salad, the Octopus and the grilled lobster with a side of tostados. Everything is good to share and I'm not much of a dinner sharer!!! :) It is fun at a place like this though so you can try different things. They sat us on the outside enclosed patio that is closed in and has heaters all over the place. I was a little cold at first, as we weren't directly under a ceiling heater, but it did get warm enough to take my jacket off. We did end the night with the Choco Taco dessert and that was also amazing. Will be back if we can plan ahead to get a reservation. You can go to the bar and order from there without a reservation but probably go early as that filled up also. read more
