I'm a smoothie fanatic, so the Salad Bar at the Original Farmers Market caught my eye immediately! In addition to various smoothies and juices, they also have salads, sandwiches, wraps, and more! We came here at the end of the night, so they were basically closing up. I believe we got the Pacific Passion and Splash Strawberries, which were both the perfect sweetness and not overly sugary. They tasted fresh and were perfectly blended. We enjoyed our smoothies at tables nearby (there are plenty of seating in the market). I would 100% recommend this spot if you are a smoothie or juice lover. If I'm ever at this farmers market, I will stop by for sure.

Love a stroll through the OG Farmer's market and after a quick end of the year check up with my doctor up the street an amazing treat just felt like what I wanted and needed... Enter Salad Bar!! A chic cute cozy food & juice bar of dreams. Located at stall 424, you had more options than you realize to explore.... From super juices to super smoothies... Savory sandwiches, soups, salads, wraps and bagel... Talk about a wholesome healthy finagle!! The bar wraps around so you can see all the magic in front of you, but they only do orders on the main side with the cashier/order and pickup area... Though you can see their menu whether entering from the Dupar's side of the The Grove side. Shared tables and chairs for all businesses close by, so it's first come first serve... But 100% worth it, because what you are serve is perfection! Loved the prompt service, size options, overall quality and genuine care!

Salad Bar has a long history at the Original Farmers Market. It is one of the few places that you can grab a fresh made-to-order smoothie or juice. They also have sandwiches, soups and salads. It is a nice place to go if you just want something quick and healthy on the run. All of the ingredients that they use to make the smoothies are right there in front of you. After a long weekend of eating all types of food on my recent trip to Los Angeles, I was needing something light and healthy and was happy I stumbled upon this place.

The smoothies and juice drinks are popular here, but what I like are all the salad, sandwich, and wrap choices. It's located smack-dab in the middle of the Farmer's Market so you have many food establishments to choose from offering all kinds of eats. A healthier salad or sandwich is sometimes just what you need. Some of you might say, "Not sometimes but ALL the time." The service is very good. Everything is made fresh to order. It's clean and neat with seating close by.

Visited the original farmers market since I was in the area. It was lively and packed with people. Stall 424, inbetween a candy and gift shop and right across from french crepes. Got the Hawaiian Lost but substituted banana with mango due to allergies. Comes w/ strawberries, pineapple and coconut milk. They were accommodating with my request. I also ordered the special which was a honeydew cantaloupe juice. Drinks were really good and tasted fresh. Absolutely loved the juice but wished it was a little sweeter. The smoothie tasted good, but will ask for yogurt instead of coconut milk next time.

I'm obsessed with their peach pleasure smoothie! I think it's peaches, pineapple, coconut milk and a banana. Good stuff. It's was creamy and slightly sweet but not too sweet. Perfect. We also go the juice special which was the honeydew and cantaloupe juice. We expected to see some filler but the staff just kept throwing slices of cantaloupe and honeydew in. Last we got the watermelon lemonade. This one was not the greatest. Was expecting blended watermelon mixed in with the lemonade which was kind of on the sour side. Luckily we had a boba straw on hand so was able to maneuver some watermelon in with sips. I'm coming back the next time I'm here puteful for the peach pleasure smoothie. So good!

I love that everything is made to order and it is all super fresh. You can see the fruit and veggies in front of you that she is grabbing to make your juice and smoothies. We had a green sunset juice and island breeze smoothie. The juice was very very fresh! Smoothie was pretty good but maybe not worth the price.

They cut up fresh watermelon to make juice on the spot! Unfortunately, the guava juice wasn't freshly made. It tasted sweet and was ok though.

SO GOOD! We strolled around the Farmer's Market and were thirsty hunting for some good drinks. We stumbled upon this place and there were so many options! Highly recommend the fresh juices as you'll watch it freshly juiced right before your eyes. They use real fruits here and organic tea as well (there were tea leaves in our iced tea). Staff is friendly here and took our order one drink at a time. I'd definitely come back to try another one of their juices!

Even when we ordered the food, the server said "that's it?" as if she was offended that we didn't order more food (lower sales?) I'm not sure if we misunderstood her attitude but that's kind of how it felt like. The quality and size went down and it was just... not good. This used to be my #1 spot for cold noodles but our other fav place was closed today so we decided to come here. As you can see, the size of the cold noodles became smaller. Everything was packed in this small bowl which made it harder to eat. I think they changed the noodles they use because it wasn't doing anything texture wise. It used to be chewy and had a good buckwheat flavor. The broth tasted.. like water with a splash of bone broth. The quality of galbi was also a disappointing as I feel like it's became less and the meat was burnt with more fat/chewy bits. The leek pancake was ok but again, comparing it to my picture from January, it was bigger in size and more dough-y. Service was decent previously but it felt a bit cold today. Again, super bummed because we still love this place but I probably won't be ordering their combo again. You can see in my pictures how often we used to order the cold noodles from here and you can compare the quality.

On our latest visit we took the Metro, exited at Wilshire/Normandie Station, and walked 8 minutes over. The restaurant seems to have updated their décor to a more modern and new look since my last visit. Also they have introduced a lot of new menu items, so it felt like an appropriate time to update my review and renew my support for the business. On prior visits I have tried both the Clam Kalguksu ($22.99) and the Chicken Kalguksu ($22.99). Both are delicious depending on what protein you are craving. The broth is incredible soothing and great for a cold day or just anytime you need comfort food. The noodles are chewy and pillowy soft, it just melts in your mouth. When we arrived on our latest visit it was as busy and popular as I remembered. We were lucky that they were able to seat us right away. This latest visit my boyfriend and I tried new items from their menu. My boyfriend had the Tokmanuguk ($20.99) which has rice cakes, dumplings, beef, egg, and carrot in their anchovy broth. I had the Chicken Jook ($23.99) which is the Korean version of a chicken porridge that comes with half a small chicken, green onions, garlic, toasted sesame seeds, squash, onions and topped off with a smidge of sesame oil. Our meals came with a little palette cleansing introduction of barley rice. Just a few bites, but it sets up your tastebuds for the meal. They also had some side dishes for the table. The food took a while to come out, but understandable for how busy they are. This food is made with love and your patience will be rewarded. When it came, it was SO DELICIOUS! I tried a bit of my boyfriend's food and it was so comforting. Perfect for those who like the chewiness of the Korean rice cakes or dumplings. I just love my chicken porridge a little more cause I'm obsessed with porridge whenever I can get it. I love how much vegetables Koreans are able to hide in their porridge while making the veggies so tiny, you won't even notice it. So healthy, delicious, and soothing. It was like a hug for my soul. Also, the portion was huge and both my boyfriend and I had a portion togo that was the size of another meal. You can't go wrong with their food here. I definitely want to make an effort to come back more often. Until next time!

Taste: 5 Value: 5…read moreService: 5 One of the best Taiwanese meals I've had since coming back from Taipei at the start of the year. The hot and sour soup was thick and chunky, just how I like the soup. The scallion bread sandwich with 5-spice beef was distinct. The bread was perfectly baked and the beef was flavorful and juicy. There was both mustard greens and pickles that gave crunch and acidity to balance the meat and bread. The lotus root salad was refreshing while still having a kick from their in-house chili oil. Dan Dan noodles were also excellent. Fresh cucumbers, chewy noodles, flavorful sauce. Hearty portions with enough for a lunch the next day. Also appreciated the speed of service. Lines move quickly and food comes out quickly. Looking forward to my next visit!

I really liked…read moretheir interior decoration, it gave felt both modern Chinese and nostalgic at the same time. They also had really authentic and delicious looking cold appetizers like woodear mushrooms and lotus root salad. There was barely a line when we arrived and we were able to order and get a table without much wait. The food all came out at the same time and very quickly. We got their shrimp wontons, Chia Yi chicken rice, and sesame scallion bread stuffed with braised pork belly. I was ready to be transported back to Asia when I saw the dishes but tasting them left me wanting more. The shrimp wontons had very thin silky wrapper which was very tasty, but the shrimp itself was so bland and lacked texture. Most of the shrimp wontons I've loved had a nice bite to it from the baking soda soak but this was just soft dumpling skin on soft shrimp. The shrimp itself could've used more salt and white pepper too, but I suppose dousing it in chili oil helped. The scallion bread filled with pork belly is probably the tastiest dish. The pork belly was well cooked and paired well with the sweet sauce, crunchy peanuts and fresh herbs. The sesame scallion bread however tasted like it has been sitting out on the counter for hours waiting to be stuffed. The bread was cold and the exterior wasn't crispy, there were scallion pieces throughout but you couldn't really taste it. I would recommend trying other dishes before trying the chia yi chicken rice. The shredded chicken was dry and bland, mixed in with mostly soggy pieces of fried shallots. The rice was more flavourful because it was soaked in fragrant oils, but it also left it very mushy and almost congee like. The pickled radishes didn't add much to the dish either. I almost forgot but we also tried their honey lemon black tea and passion fruit black tea. Neither tea had a lot of tea flavor, it was mostly just sweet. The passion fruit syrup was pretty tasty but we both wished there was more black tea. I might be extra critical since I grew up with this type of food, but there are other restaurants in LA that delivers great quality Chinese food. TL;DR: Joy is a well decorated restaurant with good vibes that prioritizes speed of service over freshness and flavour of food.

Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.
