Best steak ever! And we are regular steak eaters. We've tried the steaks and the baby back ribs. Both are delicious. The baked potatoes are Texas size, which are enough for a meal by themselves. Took my son out to celebrate his 50th birthday, along with his wife and my daughter! My sons steak was a rib eye half raw and gristly very disappointing especially for the price I paid! My daughter ordered the 12 oz prime rib cooked medium and it came out looking like the WORST EVER CUT of prime rib I have ever seen !! It was gray in color, loaded with huge globs of fat and looked as if it had been microwaved, with curled edges, SERIOUSLY! I will never recommend Saltgrass to anyone!! They did comp the prime, however we would have much rather had the delicious meal we had hoped yo enjoy. After all my son only celebrates his 50th birthday once! Ordered online & had a promised time of 6:15. We waited until 7 for our food to come out, meanwhile other multiple online orders came & grabbed their food as soon as they drove up with no wait. We actually pulled up a little earlier than the promised time (6:08) & an employer came out to charge us for the food @ 6:10. She said the food would be ready within 10 minutes. Around 6:45 we grew inpatient & decided to ask inside. We finally got our food @ 7 & when we checked to see if they had at least made everything right, we were missing a whole potato soup side with one of our orders. (I must add it wasn't a complicated order whatsoever, 2 main dishes & an extra side of fries). The fries were stale & tasted as if they had been sitting on a counter for a while. Was excited for there to be a steak house added to the Cypress area (and not another fast food place). Took my family here for a going away dinner for my son leaving to go back to college after his 1st semester. I was surprised that at 4pm on a weekday that the place was packed and we had to wait 20 minutes to get a table. I also didn't realize how casual this place is (or is it the fact that people don't know how to dress, not sure). We were seated and our drink orders taken. The menu is okay but I thought it was a little pricey for what we ended up with. They were nice enough to split an order for my daughter and me. My son loved the baby back ribs and we all liked the coconut shrimp. Our waitress was fabulous and earned the 20% tip we gave her. As far as the restaurant goes, it is loud, really loud. On top of the noise of the people, they were playing country music too loudly. The bill for 3 entrees, a kids meal, 2 teas, and 1 dessert was almost $100. Not something we could afford for a regular meal. Would I go here again, maybe for lunch but if I paying this much for dinner again, I'll go to Taste of Texas. P.S. I found out afterward that this was a Landry's restaurant. I'm not a fan of their over commercialized style at their restaurants so if you like their stuff, (and I know plenty of people who do), you will love Salt Grass. read more

Larissa, out server was wonderful! She was happy, knowledgeable, and on top of things. She made sure that everything was to our satisfaction at our table. She made good recommendation when asked and was "head-on." The hostess at the hostess stand did not greet me when I walked in until looking at me. She was waiting for me to greet her, I guess. We can in around 7:30pm on Thursday night, so it wasn't that busy. The salad, bread, and entrees were good, except for my Prime Rib. The taste was a little off last night. I ordered medium well but they brought out medium rare. I'm not sure if they cooked that one more or another one but it wasn't as juicy as normal. Carrot Cake was good. Was waiting at least 3 minutes before ever getting acknowledged by the hosts, somehow they managed to skip over me and take others like if I wasn't waiting. Did the call ahead which worked out good bc the line was long, they didn't have any more pagers for guests. This place is overcrowded & hard to find a parking space with all the restaurants nearby. My pat's ribeye was unflavorful & overcooked normally should be juicy & flavorful, been coming for years by far the worst steak ever. They forgot my daughter's mini corn dogs. Went for my usual birthday dinner and had their early dining sirloin. My very first bite was chewy and fatty. I gagged. Thankfully, my roommate had got their early dining filet and traded with me. (He's not as picky.) My filet, however, was delicious. Shannon was our bartender and was taking care of a spillover crowd at the bar and we still had good service. This is a no go restaurant and we were select members and frequented Salt Grass, we just left after having made a reservation for 7 for a birthday. We had our confirmation email and showed up at our designated time and was told 15 mins, a party of 13 came in behind us, also a birthday party. They seated them and told us it would be a min 20 mins longer. I asked to speak to a manager and Greg? Spoke to me assuring me he would seat us quickly. Again we waited and we left, we won't be back. That type of customer service speaks volumes in these times, hard to imagine even with their deep pockets that they'll make it going forward. But that is it for us no more, you could not pay me to eat here again, ribeye are you kidding me, thinness ribeye I have ever seen in my life. I went to Saltgrass with my family and my friends family... We ordered appetizers and the range rattlers were awesome... We ordered our food/steaks and I specifically wanted well done steak... I told the waiter please no pink well done please I don't wanna see any type of Red juice pouring from my steak... I was sarcastic but he knew where I was coming from...My wife ordered a medium well with a sweet potato... Nevertheless when the steaks came my wife cut into her steak and it was well done but she did not say anything she said oh well and continue to eat... I did not want to be a Debbie downer in the group so I looked at my steak and it looked medium well so I decided -let me just taste this awesome steak from the edge and when I cut into it ,It was just so pink... I know it's not blood but to me I cannot stand a steak which is medium well or rare... For me it look like a crime scene and it grossed me out and I played it off like everything was OK and told everyone that I was full From the appetizers... In the past at other steak houses when I Return my steak for them to cook it just a little more they basically bring me a dried up hockey pot... I love salt grass steaks because they let them rest just enough so there is no pink but unfortunately they dropped the ball and grossed me out and come to find out they gave my steak to my wife so nevertheless we did not say anything but thanks for messing up our dinner . Also believe me it is not cheap these days... I went ahead and picked up the bill for me and my friends family and for the first time in my life... Honestly, I have eaten at four different Salt Grass locations in Texas and the food and service are not consistent. I have found that the absolute best Salt Grass location in terms of good service and food quality is the College Station location, which is disappointing because that is two hours too far and we are only in College Station once in a blue moon. But, to focus on what WAS actually a good experience at the Cypress location, I can point out that the crab cakes are outstanding. It was very chilly in the dining room and they actually obliged our request to turn on the fireplace in that dining room and we appreciated that greatly. Plus, the fireplace contributes to the ambience...love that! read more
