Tried this place as takeout. Food was good for a midrange steakhouse. The meat was well seasoned, flavorful, and cooked to our desired finish. I don't think it was super high quality meat since I've had more tender New York strips but for the price, I thought it was reasonable. The mashed potatoes were also good, though the presentation is in the picture doesn't do it justice. The salad was pretty standard but next time we'd skip the mac and cheese. We've been many times to Saltgrass in many locations. It's always "good", you know what you're gonna get and what to expect. This time I was a little disappointed in that my $32 steak was not nearly as good as my wife's $22 steak. Go figure. Other than that it was as expected. But here's the kicker. My wife's favorite drink is a Sangria Swirl margarita with a shot of Grand Marnier. Can someone explain how a $9.75 drink can have a maybe 2 ounce shot of Grand Marnier at $10.50? I asked the waiter thinking that it was certainly a mistake, but nope, that's the cost. I realize there's markup but a 750ML bottle is $30 or under. All three of us had 6 oz Filet cooked perfectly to order and baked and mashed potatoes as our choice sides. Tossed Salad was delicious. Grilled pineapple margarita was a favorite of the night! I am updating my review to a 4 because my experience was pretty other than this issue with the pork chop. As I mentioned in my original review - On the night of our visit - we were seated quickly. Our server was very friendly. The BBQ burger my friend had was good as was my soup (which normally I don't even like baked potato soup) and the Mac and cheese was delicious as always. I appreciated that someone actually rewatched out after I shared that even my replacement pork chop wasn't great. Left the review a 4 because of the overall hassle to resolve the issue. Actually talked to someone on Monday 6/6 and received acknowledgement electronically of this issue 6/16. The ultimate resolution ended up being a little different than what I was told on the phone, but appreciate that the company took the time to see their reviews and look at the situation to make sure it doesn't happen to others in the future. read more

I fully planned on getting up and making Sunday brunch for myself but I had Saltgrass' Salmon Caesar Salad on my mind. I had it at another Saltgrass location in New Orleans and it was tender and juicy. I also had the Grilled Pineapple Margarita and it was delicious so I decided to shoot my shot at it today. The Margarita was was slightly sweet and the pineapple flavor was perfect. This is my go to steak house when in Richardson. The food and service is always excellent. I've never had a complaint, knock on wood. Saltgrass used to be the best of the steakhouses out there. The steaks were always cooked to order, and you could tell they were quality steaks. I'd say the last 4 or 5 times we went (over the course of a few months) the steaks have been getting worse as to the quality. More fatty, more gristle, just a worse cut of steak. With prices going up (which is everywhere, so I get it), the quality you'd expect to be the same. It isn't anymore. My wife and I are now considering what other steak places we can go to when we feel like a good steak dinner. Went out on a double date on Thursday, the food was good but found a piece of hair in the salad, stopped eating but didn't say anything to the friends I was with. The waiter came over and said you done, to where I discreetly said there was a hair in my plate. And he said oh yea I would have stopped eating too. Embarrassingly Disappointing! We hosted friends to celebrate my husband's birthday since we had had lovely meals here before. From the time we were seated all through the meal the service was haphazard, took a long time to get ANYTHING and no personality at all. Our appetizers came at the same time as our salads. After a LONG wait we finally received our entrees. My 6oz filet was the thinnest , sorriest excuse for a filet I have ever seen. I told the waiter I was not happy and he said he would look into it. A few minutes later the manager brought the plate back intact and explained to me that the six ounce is thinner than the nine ounce and when you order it med well it will have to be thinner to cook properly. Having eaten 6ounce filets in many establishments this is straight up nonsense. In addition, the asparagus had so much "seasoning" it was salty and gritty. The service was again so slow, our dessert arrived before our entrees were removed. And since they knew it was my husband's birthday, I was disappointed that they didn't do as much as stick a candle in the cake we purchased. Our dinner for 5 ended up lasting 2 1/2 hours. Earlier today, we ate at the saltgrass location in Plano, Texas. It was mid afternoon so the restaurant was very empty. Our server had a total of 2 tables when we first got there. And only one other table besides ours by the time we left. I have a real problem with paying $3.39 for a soft drink and then not being able to get a refill. We waited and waited for the server but finally had to go hunt someone down to get a refill. We had to ask several times for bread and was given lame excuses like "I thought someone else was going to do it". The Queso was cold and lumpy but couldn't get the waiter to help us. We still left a generous tip, but talked about it on the way home. Never once did we see a manager and only occasionally we saw our server. Once we got home, we realized that we really were not happy with the service and our meal so my husband called to speak with the manager. He wasn't able to do anything until he spoke with the General manager. They finally called back and said that they would credit our bill $10. That was about what we left as a tip. They also said they were going to go into our Landry account and subtract the $10 point value. If you want my opinion, I would stay far away from here and just go to roadhouse or outback or any place else. read more

I have never been more disgusted in my life that had nothing to do with a bug in my food. My husband and I were trying to figure out what we wanted when I saw a Saltgrass. We were at another Saltgrass (110% better) last week and had an awesome experience. We tried the Pickles & Peppers. Holy moly the peppers were good and oh so hot. It took me about 15 minutes to eat just one. Tiny bites dunked in ranch was not enough to stop my tongue from protesting. They really were good. The pickles. Oh my. I love me some fried pickles. These were golden brown and just amazingly good. What did we get when we ordered the Pickles & Peppers at this Saltgrass? Dark Brown, greasy and as crunchy as hard candy. We couldn't eat it. We told the waiter who agreed and said he would let his manager know. I ordered the Gulf Coast Steak & Shrimp last week at the other Saltgrass. Oh wow! It was a sirloin steak but it was good and very tasty but the shrimp. I am not a shrimp girl. Give me fried baby shrimp with lots of cocktail sauce and I can eat that but for some reason I ordered the grilled shrimp. Oh my goodness!! I am so glad I did. They were nice and warm as opposed to cool shrimp. The flavor of the shrimp at the other location was phenomenal as opposed to being tasteless. No actually it's like some sort of flavor was trying to come through but nowhere near what we experienced at our past visit at another Saltgrass. The shrimp was cool. Not even warm. After the first bite I wanted to gag. No flavor cool and rubbery. I asked our waiter if he could have them warm them up. They came back hot indeed but way overdone now. My husband ate 2 of them. He'll eat anything when he's hungry. There was 1 left and the half piece I tried. The steak? Salt was the only flavor it had. If I didn't put that on it would be as tasteless as the shrimp. The worst part is eating about a quarter way through when I heard mooing. I look down and there is my steak. Rarer than I've ever been served. Waiting for the waiter I ate my baked potato. That was good. The waiter shows up and I show him the steak. He agrees that it was indeed rare. He asked if I wanted it warmed up. I said no. At this point I want to just go home. Or maybe McDonalds. He then tells me to take it home and cook it there. What? Are you kidding me? I spend $26.99 for a side salad with ranch, loaded baked potato, no bacon and a medium rare steak only to be told to take it home and cook it? Never in my life. Then the manager shows up. I tell her it's mooing. She looks at it and said yes it's mooing. She asks me what the waiter asked. Do I want them to warm it up. No thanks. Husband is more than half way through his meal. I'm not going to wait 10 minutes while my husband finishes his meal. If you can believe it she says I can take it home. Then she laughs and says I ate the shrimp. In a way that was like you ate the shrimp so I can't do anything for you. Okay. 4 shrimp. I'll pay for 2.5 shrimp. The 2 my husband ate and the half I ate. Fine I'll pay for the potato too. Oh and throw in the salad as well. She offers us dessert. We say no thank you. She says we can take it home. No thank you. She then says she would do something with the check. Just then the waiter shows up with a to go box. She says oh look he's got the to go box. What the ....!! I said no on taking it home but he says I can make a steak salad with it. Just cook it at home. Then he pushes on the dessert. No ....... thank you. We have cheesecake with strawberry blah blah, chocolate cake with ice cream, carrot cake. My husband perks up and fine we will take the carrot cake home. We wait for the check. The waiter comes back and says.."we comped you for the appetizer and dessert." Holy hell. It's whatever now. We sent back the appetizer because it tasted like crap. We didn't want the dessert but it was pushed down our throat but hey they comped us for something right? I was so utterly disgusted with this whole experience. Guests are definitely not as important as making money. Go for it but I'll be damned if you ever get my money ever again! read more

Came here expecting just another chain restaurant like Olive Garden, Red Lobster, or Texas Roadhouse, and got exactly that. The Mac n Cheese side was good, but the rest was all just "okay". I got the bone in rib-eye, and I wish there was a disclaimer on it on the menu that said "we choose the cheapest leanest cut of steak we can find" because this steak had almost zero marbling, I could taste how lean it was. What a great addition for the area. We had just finished kids sports and decided to try this place out. We walked in and were greeted quickly and walked to our seat. We were given menus and greeted my our waitress. I ordered the cheese fries as an appetizer as well as drinks for our table. The cheese fries came out pretty fast and were like blocks of potato with cheese, bacon and sour cream, they were delicious. I felt the waitress was attentive and was always there for us. After what felt like years, my family finally decides what to order (can you say indecisive?) I order a T-bone with a loaded baked potato, my wife orders shrimp and the kids ordered kid stuff that I didn't pay too much attention to other than my son had mashed potatoes (I kept stealing spoonfuls) My steak comes out, and while it was supposed to be medium and was a little more than medium, it was still super yummy. There were a total of five of us and we all enjoyed our meals. I recall the food coming out and a lot of the forging in between the arrival of the food is almost a blank to me; I was happily assisting everyone at the table with their meals. End of the day, this place is awesome. Three adults and two kids, yet the check was reasonable. This place will be added to our family rotation as a welcome new dining spot. read more

Checked out the new Salt Grass as it's usually a go to steak place for me. Since it's newer, we didn't have to wait before being seated on the weekend! Since this is a newer restaurant, I'll cut some slack. However, one item was messed up so we were told they had to remake it. Honestly, I wouldn't have even noticed it was a long wait time unless they mentioned they had to remake the meal. With that, the other entree, a steak, most certainly came out lukewarm/cold and was cooked rare not medium rare. the steak most certainly came out rare instead of medium rare. After already been told one item was remade and having commitments right after, we decided it was ok eating my rare steak to ensure we made it to our other plans. Regardless, if one item has to be remade, certainly can't be that hard to keep the others cold. And a steakhouse really needs to know how to cook their steaks. I may seem harsh, but as a new restaurant there's time to fix it. The staff was very welcoming and had a great service. By far my favorite restaurant in Plano. Great service and food and always consistent in what they provide. I'm a Landry's club member so that always helps and you always get a personal visit from the manager at your table. CJ is the best waiter around so just ask for him. They tend to change managers a bit too frequently for me but that's their business. The only drawback is that some of the waiters are way too weird in their appearance and the way they present themselves. Management needs to pay attention to how their waiters go about their jobs. read more

For the high price, I would expect some lovely spring mix instead of paltry ice berg lettuce! And, they forgot my dressing! Have been looking forward to trying this restaurant because I've heard many great reviews about Saltgrass (especially with the location being close to home). However, after actually trying it, it was a bit disappointing. Came in and was immediately seated, which was nice, but no one checked up on us for about 10-15 mins. Texas Long Island Iced Tea was delicious, but the Pina Colada was not good and tasted like a sweet smoothie. We ordered our food and waited about 30ish mins but ended up having to send back our steaks because they were all served way more rare than we originally ordered. Honestly, not too sure if I would come back because the steaks were way too overpriced and didn't really taste that special.
