Have been looking forward to trying this restaurant because I've heard many great reviews about Saltgrass (especially with the location being close to home). However, after actually trying it, it was a bit disappointing. Came in and was immediately seated, which was nice, but no one checked up on us for about 10-15 mins. Texas Long Island Iced Tea was delicious, but the Pina Colada was not good and tasted like a sweet smoothie. We ordered our food and waited about 30ish mins but ended up having to send back our steaks because they were all served way more rare than we originally ordered. Honestly, not too sure if I would come back because the steaks were way too overpriced and didn't really taste that special. To be honest, Outback Steakhouse is lot better and more affordable. read more

What is it about this building? Every business that's ever occupied this building had terrible service regardless of the name on the building. This Saltgrass is no different. Just an ok steak, but the service is awful to include management. With as many options as people have around here, I'd say definitely skip this one based off of poor service alone. You can get an ok steak for a cheaper price and get adequate service at a handful of places within a 5 minute drive. read more

I have been to salt grass a few times before but this time just wasn't the best. We got had there an hour before closing so I'm not sure if they were rushing or just the staff wasn't good that day. I ordered my steak medium it came out well done. The manager offered to recook it for us. They brought out a different steak it wasn't tender and still wasn't medium cooked. The croutons in the salad were very salty. The overall service was mediocre we seen our waiter just when it was time to bring out food. The steak are fairly priced compared to most steak houses. Other than the fact that the Bacon Wrapped Quail was severely overdone, rubbery, and gray, the meal was wonderful. Don't trust call ahead seating at this location! Saltgrass is one of our go-to restaurants for family dining (party of 6). We were quoted an hour wait and two hours later told that they only had one table that could fit 6 and since the people occupying that table had been there for two hours there was no telling how much longer we would have to wait. I get that wait times aren't an exact science but if the front desk had shown even an ounce of empathy or at least pretended like they cared it would have been a little easier to stomach. If you're craving Saltgrass drive a few miles north to the McKinney location. They might quite a longer wait time but at least you'll have a good idea of what you're in for and the customer service is much better! read more

Try some place else. I ordered a ribeye and baked potato togo. I arrived at the time they said my food would be ready and went straight to the bar. The bartender and a waitress were having a conversation when I arrived and neither of the acknowledged me. I waited for them to finish their conversation. The waitress left and the bartender turned to do something on the computer. After a few more minutes I finally said "hello" to get his attention. He turned and said "let me finish this with an attitude and returned to pressing buttons on the computer. He finished what he was doing and begrudgingly asked how he could help me. I am not sure how and why these restaurants think it's ok to not acknowledge customers when they arrive. Even when you are busy it does not take much to acknowledge someone and say "hello, I will be right with you". I will not return to this location. Haven't been here in a long time. Seemed like many years ago they started to go down hill. Decided to give them a try since one opened close to us. Did not disappoint! Glad we came back. Megan took care of us in the bar today and WOW!! Stunning service. Everything came out promptly and correctly. Extra plates, checks, bread, refills? Didn't even have to ask. She had everything ready to go for us. Friendly and had a smile on her face the entire time. MANAGER NICK terrible location and manager. I am never a rude person I give Everyone the benefit of the doubt. But I will never go back to Saltgrass. All around terrible. I didn't complain I was calm and understanding they cooked my steak well done and I asked medium rare I already had an appetizer and they took forever the first round and to be wrong ok make my order to go. They did I said when telling them to just cut the steak before bringing it back that idc what it looks like just make sure it's medium rare. The manager brings it to me said I'm so sorry I said it's ok not your fault or my servers but I asked my server to cut into it to make sure it's right he said we didn't but we can so I do and it's right I say thank you he said no problem we will take care of that for you I'm sorry blah blah blah. I give them my card they don't show me the receipt but when I get it back it said kitchen error I'm like ok they took care of the messed up steak sign it 86$ and grab my food and start walking to my hotel then thought if they took off 38$ how is my total still 85$ I look and it's charged twice. So I go back in there and ask to speak to the manager to explain he said he took it off so I was asking why it was charged twice he said for inventory purposes I said ok you said you'd take care of it so I assumed it was meaning the steak y'all messed up and took forever to serve that I literally asked for it to go because y'all took so long my food was settling. he said no sorry I said ok he was like Ok Bye I said it's been a handful of years since I've been here for one it took ten minutes to be greeted then another almost 15 to be asked if I've been helped which I haven't. So my friends told me that since I love steak that I should definitely check this place out. So I ordered the 10oz sirloin steak and paid somewhere around $20. In my opinion the steak, it tasted okay, but I've tasted better. In my opinion, it definitely wasn't worth $20. I liked the decor & the waitress was on point with the service. read more

My husband and I are big Texas Roadhouse fans; not sure if there is a rivalry between them and Saltgrass (like Whataburger vs. In N Out) but after coming here, I feel like it is. They have a similar menu and concept but Saltgrass has a slightly more upscale rugged feel while Roadhouse is more casual and fun. We ordered drinks, which came in super large tall mugs. We barely finished our drinks (the guys has the Texas iced tea and I had a paloma). My husband ordered a ribeye steak, I had the chopped steak, and my dad went all out with the porterhouse steak (he totally deserved it, as he did a lot of fixes for my house the week before). All came with a side of salad (which was pretty large), as well as a veggie side; I got the green beans. My chopped steak was pretty good, along with the veggies. My husband's ribeye was okay, but my dad's porterhouse was really good. Oh! They also provided bread for the table, which we had with butter. The bread was just okay, nothing too special. The service was pretty good, as our waitress was nice and attentive. The restaurant had just opened a few months ago, so its brand new and clean. Overall, we had a good experience, but prefer the other restaurant for future visits. I wouldn't mind coming back and try it again! read more

We came here on a early Saturday evening and the food was pretty good- really no issues with it other than the steaks we ordered Medium came out more on the well-done spectrum. Not a big deal though. Our issue was with our server Monica. My elderly guest is a Landry's Select Club member and prefers to receive the receipt with the member points listed- usually a member of management brings the receipt to her that details this information. We received the receipt but there was no point total detailed so we asked for a copy of it from Monica. She left with an eye-roll (we assumed to grab a manager for us) and returned to tell me and my guest that if she wants to know her points, she should download the app because management was too busy to get this for her and walked away. Keep in mind my guest is not tech-savvy so obtaining this information from a staff member shouldn't have been a problem. As well, there were 3 managers in plain sight and not one of them looked to be terribly busy as the restaurant wasn't very crowded at all. We left feeling like we were rushed out and my elderly mother was made to feel like she was bothering Monica for making a simple request. Management should re-train this employee on proper customer service skills. In the meantime, we'll be taking our business over to Longhorn Steakhouse across 75. read more

After spitting out two out of three bites into my napkin I was embarrassed in front of my date. I asked for the rest to go, but upon exiting the restroom I noticed the manager and decided to bring it to his attention. Well he told me this was normal LOL. I've been excited to try this place since it opened because I've always heard great things about this restaurant chain overall - I could not have been more disappointed in the food. Nothing was terrible, but everything was just "meh". For the prices that they are charging I was expecting more, but everything was pretty lackluster. I ordered my usual ribeye to go and that was the tuffest,grisly steak I've ever tried to eat and my steak was cooked medium. I tried eating half of it but just couldn't chew the rest it was so tuff. Have been here several times, especially right after they opened up. Glad they did as I like the location better than the one in McKinney and they did a great job changing out the interior from the Joe's Crab Shack. Much more relaxed interior on the inside. Not too bright or too dark. Just nice and comfortable. Wait staff has always been polite, friendly and helpful. No issues getting extra napkins, refills or orders from the bar. Management has swung by a few times on our trips in just to make sure we were being taken care of, which we have been, but is never overly intrusive. Food has always been spot on. Medium is medium and the char on the outside is just right. Sides are good and wife and I almost always get the potato, which is cooked through and nice and soft, although I get the fries every now and then. Drinks from the bar are good, whether you are getting something off the menu like an Aviator or Moscow Mule or getting an Old Fashioned. Overall, this is our go to steak house for the area and recommend it if you want some good well cooked steak. read more

First visit to this Plano location and the place is beautiful. It must have just opened because only a handful of cars. Our waitress was thoughtful, especially during these Covid times. There were even horns from the mythical JACALOB or CUPACOBRA on the wall. We didn't even mind the LIMITED menu but FIX THAT DISH! The chopped steak and mashed potatoes came out with NO GRAVY and was served with cold shredded cheese and cold tomatoes on top. While the steak was cooked perfectly, we didn't order a bunless burger. I double check with the waitress and she said that's how it comes. TERRIBLE! My salad had wilted old and brown lettuce. DISAPPOINTING! You want to go and support the restaurants but $50 for this...no thanks. Even noticed the manager visiting tables but not ours. read more

We were hesitant because of the yelp reviews but decided to give them a try because of them just opening this location recently. We are long time Saltgrass fans. We got the fried mushrooms. Came out piping hot and crispy! I got the bbq ribs and shrimp. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and the ribs were fall off the bone delicious! No complaints. Ate here on my most recent trip to Dallas. Atmosphere is typical steakhouse feel. Seated right away but they were quite busy. Ordered the steak salad which was good but took quite awhile. Service was sooo slow. Our server seemed clueless as to how long we waited for our food, no second drink offer or water refill. We had to ask him for our check. If I could ZERO stars I would! This was the worse experience ever at Salt Grass. This was my first time to this location and will surely be my last!! I was there with a large party celebrating a friends birthday. The reservation was at 7 and at 6:50 the hostess stated the tables were set but there was not a waitress available. This was a surprise celebration so of course we wanted to be seated beforehand. We had 2 waitresses and one was better than the other but they acted like they've never handled a large party before. They really couldn't keep up with anything. Guests at the table were not getting their requested drinks or getting the wrong food. My wife ordered some cheese fries and the waitress came and just sat it on the table not even asking who ordered it. Someone else at the table had ordered some as well so they started eating it. Upon telling the short male manager what happened he picked up the fries and put them in front of my wife and said I'll make you another half order (I'm guessing since half of it was already ate)! That's the nastiest thing ever!!! Especially during these times of COVID. I asked him when he came back out what was the half order for considering the facts and that we expected a full order. I ordered chopped steak and the waitress came 35 mins later asking how I wanted it cooked like really. I get my food and it's burnt with burnt cheese on top of it. I was so disgusted I gave the plate right back to the waitress and told her I wasn't eating that. A female manger came out shortly asking what was wrong and if she could get me anything else and I told her absolutely not. At this point I was not even hungry and so disgusted by the nasty food and poor service that I was just over it. The only thing good I had was the Grand Sangria.
