Firstly, I want to start off by saying that I don't ever write reviews good nor bad. But this experience was so terrible that I felt it was IMPERATIVE that I write one and warn you to save your money and go absolutely anywhere else but this establishment. Seriously you'd be better off at a run down Applebee's or Chili's you'd at least get food that tasted good and for half the price. So, let's start off with the wait. I was quoted 45 minutes for a table of 3. Which I understood because it was a Friday and it seemed typical. But when I took a peak into the dining room over half the tables were empty. Again, I thought logically and thought perhaps they were low on servers. I counted there was over 16 servers waiting tables.... We finally got sat and the waiter was awesome, however we sat pretty close to the kitchen and I could just hear constant screaming and quickly figured out the source of the wait. It wasn't the lack of servers or lack of seating, but the lack of communication that was going on with the cooks. Constant yells from the kitchen broke any form of atmosphere SaltGrass had going for it. Server was great and timely and brought everything quickly. Except for the food, which was without a doubt the kitchens fault. My steak was worse than a Hungry Man TV dinner steak. It was cooked to the right temperature but somehow was still lacking any resemblance to a good dish. My drink that wasn't that complicated took so long to make. I sat facing the bar and there was never an overwhelmingly amount of people to excuse the time it took to get a beverage. Overall I'm not sure how this place has a 3 star rating, horrible location, horrible food, and horrible kitchen staff. I kept hearing great things about this place so decided to give it a try. First impression was it's nice inside for a chain restaurant. The place was clean and our waiter was very nice. The manager also stopped by our table and he was very pleasant as well. We started off with salads and bread. The bread was probably my favorite of the night. We both went with a steak. Both steaks came out exactly how we ordered. Then we took a bite. Neither steak was seasoned well and just tasted average. For the price I expected more. Neither one of us finished our plate. This was my first time going here, and I'm not impressed. We went on a typical busy Saturday night. We ordered a new Range Rattlers for appetizers if they were good but not sure they were worth $12 for four of them. I ordered a Crown and Coke and my wife ordered a special Margarita off the menu. They brought it to us after making it and telling us they didn't have all the ingredients in stock. The waiter said "it is good enough though". It would have been nice to tell us they couldn't make it correctly so we could order something different before it was just made haphazardly. Especially since you're paying more than the average restaurant for mixed drinks . For dinner my wife got the coconut shrimp and she said it was good. I got the 12 oz prime rib which was a disaster. It was cooked to my liking but it had more fat on one slice of prime rib than any other piece of prime rib I've ever had before. Very long wait for mediocre, over priced food. I got the redfish and it was cold and over seasoned. I ordered Brussel sprouts as a side expecting just that and what you get is shavings of Brussel sprouts in again way too much seasoning. We started going to Saltgrass Steak House in Branson, MO and we love it. We were really glad to know there was a Saltgrass near our hotel while we were in town.... Okay, okay - we actually picked our hotel because the Saltgrass was in the same parking lot!! LOL. We were in town for four nights and ate here for three of them. We love their food - everything we have tried is amazing. Our favorite meals are Salmon Oscar and Grilled Shrimp. We love the Brussel sprouts and fried asparagus. All the staff at this restaurant were really nice. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It would have been nice to have outdoor seating to enjoy the nice weather while we were in town! read more

Ok folks. Don't come here. The front staff does not have a clue what they are doing. When we got here we were told we had a 45 minute what. Ok. Saturday night no problem. 2 hours later we were told it was another 30 minutes. We left and went across the street to Outback and got seated immediately. I understand they are busy but be truthful. Saltgrass is my very favorite restaurant in Tulsa of all time. Because my wife and I usually only eat breakfast and lunch we love the full menu at lunch time. Most restaurants, that we frequent, only serve entries like prime rib after 4 pm. but not Saltgrass. Because of COVID-19 all that has changed. We went for my husbands birthday. We were super excited because he haven't been able to go since it opened & we rarely get to go out to eat do to my husbands crazy work schedule & kids activity schedule. When we got there the restaurant wasn't too busy. Which was great. We ordered the queso with brisket. We found a hair in it but pulled it out, trying to think it was once of ours. Although the queso was in the middle of the table and none of us leaned over or reached over the queso. We ran out of chips quite quickly & asked for more chips multiple times. Finally 10 min later the chips came out. The queso was hard & cold at that point. Then about 30 min later, mind you, the restaurant wasn't full at all at this point. Only a few tables. Our steaks come out. My Cajun sirloin came out with no Cajun sauce (sauce with scallops & shrimp) no problem, they put the sauce on & returned the plate. I took a bit of the tiny shrimp from the sauce & it was super fishy tasting. The waiter said it's from the scallops. I've had scallops before & they were fishy but whatever. I cut my steak then my husband, who ordered & was super super excited for, the smothered steak, cut his piece & went to take a bite, thankfully looking at his bite before putting it in his mouth a thick pubic looking hair was hanging from the steak. Intertwined in the mushroom sauce. We couldn't believe it. We told the waiter when he came back. He got the manager. The manager apologized. He offered to make my husband a new one. He was starving so he said ok but we needed to take it to go. We had already been there for an hour and a half at this point. It was 9:00. A school night & work night. The steak came out in 10 min. (Weird since we waited 30+ min for it the first time). This time what we got was a skirt steak at best. NOT A FILET. It was near well done & super gritty. Not round, thick & juicy like a filet. My sirloin was more round & thick than this piece of meat. The waiter apologized again & comped just that meal. Not the queso that also had a hair. My bad for not keeping the hair & showing him when we saw it. We also had a free cheesecake coupon for joining the eClub. He gave us the free cheesecake & told us to keep the coupon. (As if we want to ever go back). We were going to get the cheesecake & then also get whatever dessert is offered for birthdays. Nothing was offered. In all... It was my husbands birthday. A horrible experience & a complete waste of 2 hours. So disappointed. Previous to yesterday we never had a bad experience at Saltgrass. Not so this time. All of the food came out of the kitchen way overcooked. I ordered a filet medium rare and it came out well done. The grilled shrimp was over cooked dry and tough. My wifes ribs were so over done dry and tough. I ordered asparagus which was terrrible. Never saw such small asparagus and some were inedible. I paid an extra $2.99 for this failed side. The only thing I enjoyed was my beer. Oh and our waiter Cue was excellant. We've liked Saltgrass since we lived in Texas 20 years ago. Especially the steaks because they come with came with a nice garnish of fried onion straws. Naturally, we were excited when they announced a location in Tulsa. Unfortunately, this is not a good execution of Saltgrass. We went for dinner shortly after they opened. Got our drinks, appetizers and then steaks. Our favorite garnish was noticeably missing. We let our waitress know and she brought them out (and later charged us) as a side order. We politely let her know and she made sure we understood how long she has worked at Saltgrass and that the garnish has never come on the steaks. We asked for the manager who apologized, said we were correct and we just needed to ask for the garnish and it would always be complimentary. According to the manager, a lower percentage of folks were eating the onion garnish so they made them optional for those who asked as to not waste items. That made sense to us. We returned today and went through the same process. This time another manager told us (via the waiter) that it was no longer available and was an up charge side order - $4 on our bill. Textbook case of penny-wise, pound foolish. How much do onion straws cost - 20 cents? On a $100+ order with appetizers, steaks and cocktails that certainly doesn't make business sense. If they're cutting corners on a simple thing - who knows where else they're cutting corners. Hey - it's their business. A mildly annoying experience. That said, we have no plans to return and clearly won't recommend this place to others. Many other good places to spend our money! read more

As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted with smiling faces eager to serve us with some of the best that Texas has to offer! We started off our meal with their signature appetizer, the Range Rattlers. These bad boys give you a nice taste of spice because they are a loaded jalapeño with a shrimp through the center and cheese all deep fried to perfection. The range rattlers are served with ranch dressing and thin sliced onion rings. The child in me noticed on the menu a Frozen Coke and Crown, and yes that is basically an adult ICEE. My daughter noticed my adult ICEE and she started to want one. Unfortunately she couldn't have any of mine, so I asked the server if they had a virgin version of it. They did not so they specially made one for her. Most places would have said "no we don't" and left it that. Saltgrass staff went above and beyond to make my child happy. The salad was of a good quality, but I am just dying to talk about my steak! I went in during lunch time so I was able to order from the lunch menu. I ordered a 10 ounce Pat's Ribeye medium rare. The steak came out cooked to perfection. Every bite was full flavored and properly seasoned. While chewing on the steak I felt my tastebuds being activated in rows of savory bliss. By the time I finished my steak I was too full to enjoy the loaded garlic mashed potatoes.(it's a shame really.) I was overjoyed to see a Saltgrass Steakhouse come to Tulsa (after all I am a transplant from Dallas and was used to this place). Tulsa Saltgrass Steakhouse did not let me down! We arrived early for lunch and of course immediately seated. Our server,Chris, was prompt in asking for our drink order. We both ordered the strip steak with garlic mashed potatoes. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were great. Our salads were not overwhelmed with dressings, yet we were asked if we would like more. Nope the salads were just fine as is. Ordered a ribeye to go this evening; the steak was supposed to be cooked medium but when we got it home it was very well done. Took the steak back to the restaurant and the manager couldn't do a refund due to alleged corporate policy. I didn't want to wait on another steak to be cooked and my partner's steak was sitting at the house getting cold. We've always had excellent steaks at Saltgrass before and have eaten there at least two times per month for the past year. So sad that "corporate policy" ruined the good past experiences I've had with this restaurant. I've never been to a restaurant that couldn't provide a refund for a bad meal, if that's corporate policy not to issue refunds then they need to change it. read more

I don't understand how this place is award winning. The only thing worth getting are the appetizers. Got the rib eye, they served me this 1/8 inch thick piece of what looked like a chewed on steak, that was well done and I ordered it medium rare. The Brussel sprouts side were burned beyond recognition. Sent it back, but it was taking so long that my dinner partners were already done with their less than satisfactory meals so I canceled the replacement. Then a few minutes later they brought it. They comped my bill for the dinner, at 28 bucks totally not worth it anyway. Walked out with a bill for 35 bucks for two grilled pineapple margaritas that were sort of good but nothing to write home about. Have had better steak at a Ponderosa steak house. read more

Went in today for lunch to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. The waiter came quickly, took the drink order and said he would bring bread. Came back with drinks to take food order. Eventually brought the salads still no bread. Finally, got his attention for the bread. Finished salad and waited for entrees for quite awhile. Wow! I like my steak rare, an apparently almost forgotten art, but this place remembered, and delivered the best tasting filet I can remember. Usually a steak ordered comes out medium rare or worse, with all of the flavor cooked out of it. This is by far the worse service I've received in a long time and really felt like I didn't belong. I'm here in Tulsa for the week on a business trip and tonight just so happen to be the first night I've gone out to eat... but why did I do that???? I'm pretty sure I was the only black person in the restaurant and if this is the way we are treated, I can see why. I sat down at 7:50 and no one stopped at the table to assist me until 8:06.. I thought to myself, they know I'm here because three servers walked by 4 times and didn't bother to look my way. Normally I would've gotten up and walked out but I wanted to see how long they would go or how many times they'd walk by without stopping. One of the server's finally stopped and said "can I get you something to drink? I know you've been waiting for a while!!" Oh, have I? Then why are you just now coming over??? I try to stay away from color but I can't help but to face my reality and that's knowing my almost 20 minute wait for water was because of the color of my skin. Some things will never change. Enough about the horrible service... the bread was ok.. my meal on the other hand was delicious. Pat's Ribeye medium well, with loaded mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were everything (just make that your two sides)!!! Although this is just one of the various locations and the food was great, I can't confidently say that I'll be back to any of their locations.
