I always feel bad when I have to give less than 4 stars on a review. I know most people try to do a good job when serving customers and appreciate them trying. But when something comes up short, I have to be fair and honest. Usually order pizza for delivery but ordered 2 heroes on the way home from work with a delivery time of 7:15. 1 star for being on time. 1 star for getting the order right. 1 star for trying. 1 star lost because the food was not hot or even luke warm. Noticed the delivery guy had 3 bags hanging off his arm when he handed me my order. My guess, the heroes waited while other orders were being prepared and just didn't stay warm. The other lost star, a hero that is parmigiana is supposed to have mozzarella cheese. Both heroes ordered were parmigiana but lacked any noticeable amount of cheese. Seemed more like reminiants than loaded. For Salvo's, we will stick with the pizza. Seems to be their specialty. Probably gain a star back for that. read more

Ordered Rigatoni Alfredo with Chicken here for takeout and did not disappoint. The pasta had a lot of cheese and flavour with the chicken added. Preparation took about twenty minutes and staff was friendly when I arrived to pick up. If you need quick takeout, I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Just ordered delivery for the first time and was extremely impressed. Firstly, their prices are super competitive for the area. Got dinner for 2 delivered for under $25- pretty unheard of in the UES. Got the Margherita pizza and a chicken parm sandwich. Loved the pizza- tasted very fresh and the sauce in particular was spectacular. Chicken parm was also good, but would probably explore another menu item before getting it again. Not sure if it's an in house guy or not, but the delivery guy was super friendly. Fast too. Very good food and reasonable prices. The portions are also huge. We started with mozzarella sticks which were great. Even though they were delivered, they were still crispy on the outside. I got the eggplant Parmesan and it was a huge portion and thickly cut. The flavor of the sauce was also great and there was a perfect amount of cheese. I asked for vodka sauce instead of tomato sauce on the pasta which was really good. My husband got the chicken parm hero which was big and had great flavor. He also got the fettuccini bolognese and really enjoyed it. I would definitely get delivery from here again. read more

I've been going to Salvos since I moved into the neighborhood in 2017. Awesome spot, hard working people and always smiling. In their peak times (before covid ) , they really used to get the orders out. Now while it's died off a bit , same courteous service and pretty fast. The food itself is awesome , true New York style Pies ....and don't get me started on the fettuccini. These times are hard on everyone and glad to know Salvos is still on the corner serving up great food. read more

The servers are friendly and attentive! They're also very good about gluten-free options; there's little to no upcharge, and separate pans and pizza cutters are used. Leftovers reheat well too. We didn't love Salvo's the first time we went a year ago, but we're glad we gave it a try under the new ownership and had a much better experience! We'll be back. read more

Good quality, good prices, highly recommended. Came here and picked up a chicken parm hero and OMG it was good. The portion is huge, easily splitable between two people (although I alone ate the whole thing). Chicken was tender, nice crunch on the outside and the hero bread was not your typical dense white bread hero. It was what all Italian sandwiches should be made of. Soft on the inside, a nice hold on the outside with the impression that you are eating freshly baked bread. I would without a doubt go back again. read more

Busy little spot, popular for takeout and delivery, but we dined in. Wine and sangria is served in mini mason jars-a little too hipster for me. The pies have a wonderful crust but I wasn't too big on the toppings. We got a 12" pie, half margherita and half meat lover and an order of the calamari diavolo. Didn't feel like the calamari had a lot of flavor outside of the heat. Unfortunately had better New York style pizza on the west coast. read more

I stumbled across Salvo's because it's around the corner from where my friend lives. I needed a quick dinner to grab and go, so I stopped by on the way to my friend's. I wanted a healthy yet hearty pasta that could satisfy my hunger quickly. I got the Siciliano pasta which consisted of cubed eggplant pieces and mozzarella in a light tomato sauce. I've never had eggplant in such small cubes, but it made the pasta so much better. With my surface area to cover, the eggplants soaked in so much sauce that each bite packed in so much flavor. If I eat dinner before going to my friend's place again, definitely going to order from here! read more

Pizza is worse under new management. This place used to be 5 stars. Hopefully they can sort it out. Used to come all the time but now won't try again for a few months to see if they can work out the kinks. So far emphasis seems to be facelift to the space and a bigger emphasis on takeout orders. The rats running around near the outside, curb dining shelter could be forgiven, because they are all over Manhattan. The ridiculously big fans blowing the unnecessary air conditioning hard throughout the small indoor dining space could be forgiven (bring a jacket, and a box to cover your food). The annoying music that is so loud you have to shout to be heard by someone 3 feet away can be forgiven (tune it out, and yell louder). What will not be forgiven is charging us full price for a pizza that was made hours before we arrived, re-heated for five minutes, and then served to us (a native NYer always knows when the pie has been re-heated). Call me a whiner, but when I go to a restaurant I expect to be served food cooked only ONCE. If I want leftovers I'll stay home, where there's no rats, indoor hurricanes, or obnoxious loud music created for 16 year-olds. read more

2 weeks ago we had an amazing Bolognese slice, today we ordered 2 pies, one Bolognese pie and one hawai with tomato sauce for pick up and it was terrible. Hawai pizza had no tomato sauce, cardboard hard dough and cheap tasteless cheese, as for the Bolognese pizza it was nothing like we had two weeks ago, it was a regular cheese pizza with dollops of Bolognese on it, instead of a Bolognese base with cheese and fresh basil, it tasted sloppy and greasy. We called to share our disappointment, and all we got to hear is that there are new owners. OOOH! Reasonably priced Italian with the BEST risotto? Sign me up! I was sooo skeptical when our dinner party chose to come here. But don't let the casual atmosphere deter you from enjoying a fantastic meal. The restaurant is kind of cramped. It has a combination of nice and quick. I believe a good chunk of business comes from delivery, so it seems they focus a lot of their attention on those orders. However, our server was friendly albeit a bit scatter brained sometimes. He was super nice and helpful enough but would forget to bring us requests on a timely manner. Their portions were generous and two people could comfortably share one entree and an appetizer and be full. We got Penne Vodka Rigatoni and the Risotto Ai Gamberetti. The Penne was really good, the right texture, and the flavors were there. But it got tiring pretty quick since it was straight pasta and sauce and nothing else. I think I'd add chicken next time to break it up a bit. The risotto though, SO GOOD. Best risotto I have ever had honestly. The only gripe I have is there's too much asparagus for my liking. But I don't dock for it because the portions didn't suffer because they were filling with asparagus. So happily, I just eat around it. DEFINITELY get the risotto. What is great about NYC, almost every restaurant delivers to your door. Salvos only took twenty minutes to deliver our dinner to us. We ordered the Chicken Parmigina, Spicy Fra Diavolo Calamari, and a side Broccoli Rabe. The Calamari was very good along with the Broccoli Rabe. They also provided you with bread to submerge in their sauce which was well worth it. Next time I will actually visit this restaurant and actually dine their rather than hanging around on my butt waiting for the food to show up. read more

Salvo's is a hidden gem on the Upper East Side, reserved for the residents of Yorkville or anyone willing to venture out that far. Tremendous food, family owned vibes and courteous service put it above it's competition. They put love and care into everything and you can taste it. And their prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food and service you get. I genuinely love this place and their staff and am grateful to have them across the street. Favorite items include: Pepperoni Pie (their slices are good, but a whole pie from them is unparalleled) Chicken Francese. Lasagna. Spaghetti Bolognese. Chicken Parm. They messed up our order - after we had a conversation about exactly what we wanted, and it being something that we had received from them many times before. When we called to have it corrected, were told that they were busy, it was our fault, that we were rude and they hung up. I do want this to be great place so I can walk across the street and get good Italian food (like you can get phenomenal Greek food next door at Yefsi). I made my annual check today having been disappointed in the past. Sadly the experience repeated. $8.50 for a Caesar salad which was the size of a side salad, soggy with dressing surely from a bottle - I doubt that anybody opened a can of anchovies to make it. As we were scrambling for last minute restaurants, on Christmas Eve no less, we found Salvo's Pizza Bar. You SAVED our family Christmas Eve dinner!!! THANK YOU! A Christmas Miracle :) Not only did we get our food delivered promptly (40 minutes, as indicated on the delivery app) but it was delicious!! Their eggplant parmesan and baked ziti are a must have and my brother enjoyed the chicken parm and linguine. We are so thankful we were able to enjoy the Italian dinner we hoped for! My wife and I ordered dinner and it came with some issues (due to the seamless delivery process, not the food itself). The restaurant replaced our order and it was perfect. Solid pizza place! We have another pizza place by us, but I'm super picky about my sauces (other pizza place makes their sauce sweet) and salvo's definitely does a better job than them for my taste. I recently got a bone marrow transplant and pizza that is uncut/unsliced is the only takeout I can have until 100 days post-transplant. Salvo's always makes sure the pizza is uncut when my husband picks it up. It's the little things! read more
