The food is good. The waiters give ok service. We would drive to this location twice a month. This last two times they would not sit us because we had a stroller. They sat 15 white older couples before us. Im latin so I didn't expect that from a all latin staff. I blew a fuse when they sat a white man in a electrical chair. Seen sammys for awhile but never came by till recently. Overall looks like a nice basic diner with all kinds of food . Came in for breakfast and ordered the Azteca breakfast that said "new" , and it was really good . We went in to have lunch Iunch and we noticed right away it was very warm. We mentioned to a worker and she said she would ck on ot and we never saw her again and air never came on. Good place for a simple breakfast. They have a new sandwich which was really good. Crisp bacon, fresh sliced tomatoes on grilled sourdough bread with parmesan cheese. So I ordered breakfast off the senior menu it said 6.79 for bacon and eggs when I get there to pick up my order this is what I paid 9.69 lets just say false advertising! 1 they did not make my order as I asked for off the senior menu when I get there it was off the regular menu. Had to have it changed to senior menu and was still charged more than I expected off the online menu. When I complained about it the answer was those price's are from 5 years ago, so why haven't they been changed, no answer? Lure in seniors with cheaper prices than what you expect to pay really shoddy way to bring in business especially during a Pandemic!! There are two Sammy's. The restaurants were started by three bus boys that worked together at another restaurant. They are very attentive, respectful and just plain kind and gracious. Our favorite casual place to eat. Excellent service and their Mexican food menu is amazing. They serve breakfast all day and they have extremely reasonable prices. The breakfast to lunch servers are so friendly and they remember their customers. The place is kept really clean and the booths are comfortable. We eat here about once a week or more. I have had sammys twice the first time I got the country fried steak and eggs. the country gravy was good. The second time I ordered the roast beef open faced sandwich which was terrible with horrid mashed potatoes could not eat it. The roast beef was swimming in gravy and the pool was Olympic sized. Ample parking, very good service, competitive prices, food quality is good. Portion sizes are one of the reasons for 3 and not more stars. When compared to competition I think the portions are smaller in comparison. I've eaten breakfast and lunch here several times but never dinner. The weekday breakfast special at only $4.99 is hard to beat. Coffee is good, biscuits and gravy are good not great. The breakfast potatoes are only fair and lack some flavor that could be added with maybe some onion and or bell pepper in the mix. Went for breakfast and it was very good. had the country morning breakfast which was an open face biscuit topped with two sausage patties, eggs and country gravy served with breakfast potatoes. it was more than I could finish. Took my daughter there for dinner very enjoyable, she had the French dip with french fries very tasty enough leftover for another meal, I had the pork chops they were a little tough very flavorful they came with french fries carrots and broccoli delicious and a salad very good salad. our waitress was wonderful, we also took home a beautiful cinnamon roll. Let me just start by saying that one star is generous for this place. Unfortunately Yelp does not allow you to rate a place with no stars otherwise that's what Sammy's would get. The man who seated and served me spoke terrible English sprinkled with Spanish words that I couldn't understand (Not what one would expect at an rip off of an American diner). I'm clearly a Caucasian man who wouldn't understand Spanish so why use it with me? He also seemed annoyed by my questions about the menu items. If that wasn't bad enough, the food was sub par at best. It all tasted like food that has been frozen for far too long. I ordered the salmon with a salad and baked potato. The salad was just ok (obviously pre plated and refrigerated all day). I was really looking forward to the baked potato and salmon but when my meal arrived it was a great disappointment. The salmon was terribly over cooked and I was given mashed potatoes covered with the type of gravy that comes with biscuits and gravy...FAIL! When I asked about why I didn't get a baked potato, I was told that they don't serve baked potatoes until 5 PM. That would've been nice to know when I ordered. Needless to say I will never come here again and I would recommend that you do yourself a favor and bypass this place altogether so you don't make the same mistake I did. read more
