This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. The flavor is authentic. I know the owner puts a lot of hard work and love into her food. It tastes always delicious and consistent. My favorite dishes are the bistek encebollado (steak with sauteed onions), fried whole red snapper (pescado frito), fried plantains (maduros), homemade flour tortillas with eggs (baleadas). Rudy always provides Excellent customer service. I don't understand the 5 star reviews. The food is not good and definitely not great. Maybe it was an off day, but the rice tasted like it came from a box. The beans had something odd about them as well. The service is the thing they have going for them. The guy that waited on us was very sweet. So if you are ever in Dallas, I highly recommend. We had the Pollo a la Parrilla and Carne Asada. Homemade tortilla (asked for flour because I'm not a corn tortilla fan), YUM! They are homemade and hot off the grill not warmed up in the microwave. The restaurant itself is not fancy but excellent food. It is homey on the inside which is a little deceptive from the outside because it just looks like a store front from there. Our waiter was pleasant and just the right amount of attentive. The slaw that came as part of our plate was tasty. The rice (of which they gave us double portions because neither of us wanted beans) was really good. Honestly I've tried Honduran food before and thought it was ok, my daughter found this place and I ageed to go because of her. I was skeptical and didn't expect much but I was blkwn away! Found this place by accident and are so glad we did! We were a group of 7 who never had Honduran food before. We chose almost everything on the breakfast menu and it was all delicious. My husband and I ate here a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Omigosh, were we shocked and awed! The food was indescribably excellent! I had grilled chicken with rice, beans and cabbage/slaw. It's like nothing I've ever tasted before. The seasonings and spices are heavenly. I'm not a fan of white rice, but this rice was fluffy and had a seasoning that was light and delicious. The cabbage had a ruby red sauce (the owner's mother secret recipe), that was unique but absolutely scrumptious. My husband had the red fish and said it also was delicious, light and flaky. This restaurant looks like a hole in the wall but the food and service is 5 star at very reasonable prices. The interior is bright and cheery. Son is the waiter and greeter, and Mom (from Honduras) is the cook. Viva la Mama! read more

The food was okay but the owners were really nice. I haven't had much Honduran food but I enjoyed the food here. I did not get exact change and I felt uncomfortable not receiving all of my money - and for that reason, I didn't tip extra. The food had good flavor but there was something about the atmosphere that was off. It was a Friday afternoon, a perfect recipe for good clientele and there was only one more customer. I am unsure why the business was not better. This brings me to my next point - my girlfriend and I were also uncomfortable because we were being watched like hawks while we ate. We tried the dishes and the breakfast baleada was our favorite. It's got a great taste for a great value. Some of the bigger plates did not have the flavor profile we anticipated for the price range. All in all, I wish I was a local so I knew what I wanted when I was hungry. It probably would not be my first stop in Dallas again. read more

From the second that we walked into San Pedro's we felt welcomed. Renato was working the floor and was quick to make a connection with each of the diners, being quick to start up conversation and recommend food options. To my fellow Hondurans, foodies and all those new to or interested in Honduran cuisine, I've been a fine dining restaurant consultant, chef and GM from the age of 20 for 18 years all over this country not including being a cook from age 14. In other words I have a very demanding pallet and very high expectations. So much that few restaurants impress me no matter where I go. I was recently at San Pedro's several times while on a business trip to the area. As a Honduran I seek out my Honduran restaurants wherever I go. I can't tell you how many Honduran restaurants have deeply disappointed me and even embarrassed me with friends. Honduran food is amazing and there is so few good restaurants in this country, even fewer that actually are modest. I've been to sooo many Honduran restaurants in this country and none has ever earned my return, review or respect. Whether here in Cali, Florida or Texas they've all pretty much disappointed. The two brothers that run this small and clean place put forth every effort to satisfy you. They're warm attentive host who truly care about your experience. This restaurant serves the most authentic and carefully crafted dishes. They are the finest example of Honduran food I've ever had here in America. The few times I've been there I've ordered several dishes just to try as much as I could. I've had many wonderful dishes here. The Sopa is incredible and the Honduran orchata is as real as it gets. I'm truly looking forward to coming back in Jan on my next business trip.
