I'll be honest here, I kind of wanted to hate this place ever since I almost went a few months back but changed my mind when I saw six people wearing fedoras at a table and wanted nothing to do with that, but here we are, months later giving this place another real shot. My wife and I stopped here a few weekends back for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed the food. The ambiance here is pretty generic, white and bright and very copy and paste of a lot of places popping up recently. The staff was super friendly while taking our orders and dropping the food off, which is always appreciated. I ended up ordering the Santo's Turkey Melt which is smoked turkey, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and chipotle aioli served on sourdough with a side of french fries. The sandwich was really good and the same can be said for the french fries and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of fries given, so thumbs up to that. I forgot what the food costs so I visited the website and for some reason they don't think it's important to put that online, which is pretty darn stupid if you ask me. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience at Sandcouch Cafe and I would visit again in the future thanks to it's convenient location. The food was solid and the staff was friendly, and that's really all I need when ordering a sandwich.

it's a very cute venue with very nice Instagram pictures, although some section of the place looked kinda odd with the positioning plants. It was terrible that today I saw a sign of the restroom cannot be used, which is really outrageous. But this review is just on the food. And for that, it is really five star. It was very well made for the eye and the taste. Service is very friendly and fast and they'll bring your food out to you. There is a nice condiment area so you can help yourself to anything. The seating area is very comfortable and I see some people sitting there pretty much for hours working. It's a very peaceful spot and good food & coffee. What more can you ask for in downtown. It's right across a macaroon place so I can see it doing really well.

What an absolutely amazing place to stumble upon! I've been three times in the past two days. So why four stars and not five? Yikes, when you add milk to the tea, it becomes an $8.15 tea. That's... a bit much. I'll pay for quality loose leaf, but.. almost a tenner? Have also come for lunch; hubby had one of the avocado breakfast burritos and devoured it so quickly. I opted for the Club wrap - the bacon had an amazing flavor to it, which really made the wrap pop (a little bit of spice). The decor is super cute and the overall restaurant is very clean. High marks for that. Don't come if you're on a budget, but if you're OK with splurging a bit, I highly recommend! 2026: 16/100

I have ordered dine in, to go, and delivery. Food is always delicious, prepared and packaged great. My favorite thing on the menu is the avocado bacon croissant sandwich. Make sure to order it with a side of chipotle aioli sooooo good! Parking sucks but you'll find street parking and parking garage across the street if you are dining in.

I was looking for a place to have lunch in DTLA and came across Sandcouch Cafe. First impression was there were lots of people dining here and almost every table was taken and a bit loud too. I walked to the counter to place my order with the friendly lady at the order counter. I ordered a blueberry matcha and a prosciutto with arugula and fig jam. I looked around to see where I could grab a seat but only found a seat at the counter bar area. I went to sit down and shortly after my matcha was ready. Their menu said they buy their matcha from Japan so you know you are getting quality matcha. It was delicious. About 7 minutes later my sandwich was ready and a nice gentleman brought it to me. I was pleasantly surprised after my first bite. The bread tasted like it was made in house and super soft and fresh. All of the indents paired really well together and tasted so good. The fig jam gave the sandwich a little sweetness but not overly sweet. I will definitely come back and try other items from their menu when I'm in the area.

Ive only been here once so take that as it is. Ordered a Machata burrito and a mocha. When I was reading the menu, I noticed all their breakfast burritos had tater tots. A yellow flag went off in my head, as that is prime, cheap filler material. As I waited for my food, I noticed 2 separate tables that were emptied, both had food that was %75 uneaten... not a good sign. One had a chorizo burrito that had 3 bites and the rest remaining, the other had 3 pancakes with only half of 1 eaten. Once I got my burrito and looked inside, I realized that the burrito should have been named the Tater Tot burrito. %80 microwaved tater tots. See pic, no joke. This cost $20 with tax and tips? Wholesale you can buy a 2lb bag of frozen taters for $1.95. Way to make a profit!! Shareholders will be happy. Check out the generous egg portions too (sarcasm). They took 1 egg and flattened it to a ultra-thin layer you can barely telll its there. Overall the worst food value Ive seen in a long time. Very dry also. The mocha was good, so I'll avoid the 1 star rating. Go here for drinks, not for food... but then again the drinks you can get at the Whole Foods barista next door for $2 less. Trendy place with nice decor that young TicTokers will rave about. If you like wasting money, join them and keep this place afloat with your hard earned dollars.

Where's the bacon and egg or who ordered the tater burrito

Clean, warm, and cozy space. The baked goods are well presented and inviting. So why 1 star? Opening a restaurant in Los Angeles isn't easy--but doing it without a properly dialed-in kitchen is even harder. Add a poorly executed menu, and the results show. Take a look at my photo of the breakfast burrito: missing bacon and egg. I opened what was supposed to be a bacon burrito to add salsa (which, to be fair, was very good) and found lazily prepared fillings and what tasted like leftover bacon from the day before. I'm being tough because of the location--7th and Grand is prime real estate. Being busy wiping tables doesn't justify 4-5 star reviews if the food isn't there. This place needs someone to step in and help with the kitchen and flavor profiles, because right now they're just not working. Good luck--I'll be back, and I hope it improves.

Decided to give this cafe a visit after walking past it multiple times. Decided to order their machaca breakfast burrito and it was so freakin good. Lots of meat, melted cheese, and crispy tator tots inside. Comes with a side of delicious salsa. Service was excellent and loved the decor and vibe inside the restaurant. Cute, bright, and airy cafe serving breakfast and lunch. The bacon breakfast burrito was tasty. Cashier was friendly. She told me a few things people liked such as mortadella sandwich & other items. Great addition to Downtown; if you come on a Saturday, make sure to go stop by the mini South Park farmers market down the street. The only thing I can think of is the seating could be more comfortable, like maybe add cushions? I like the music playing in the background which wasn't too loud.

Came here during a trip to LA. Ordered the smoked salmon and avocado toast, which was colorful, large, and tasty. I liked the balance of the different flavors and textures, from the roasted tomato to the balsamic vinegar to the cream cheese, it all mixed very well. The service was quite slow. I waited longer than expected for this toast to arrive to my table. I tried some of my dining partners' bagel sandwiches, and they were all excellent. The ambiance is chic modern cafe. The restrooms situation was less than ideal: both had "Out of Order" signs, but when we asked, an employee said that one of them was working, if you used a code from your receipt. read more

The most amazing cafe in Downtown! The atmosphere is bright and friendly, and so are all the staff and the owner. The food and drinks are both incredible too, which is rare for a cafe to do both so well. And did I mention that the place also has WIFI, outlets, and plenty of seating?! My favorites are the raspberry matcha and the salmon avocado toast. (The regular latte is also great!) I'm super grateful that an amazing cafe that reminds me of the places I love in Pasadena has popped up right in my neighborhood! It's my go to spot to start my day. read more

My go to spot!! The food is always top-tier. My go-to order is the chicken pesto omelet with sourdough toast (pictured) and it's unreal every single time. It's my favorite thing on the menu, but honestly everything I've tried--or seen come out--looks amazing. The ambiance feels clean, cozy, and kind of luxurious without trying too hard. It's the perfect spot to slow down and actually enjoy your morning. The service is over-the-top good. Everyone is friendly, remembers you, and makes you feel genuinely welcome. I get the chai vanilla tea almost every day, and this place has become part of my daily routine. I come here so often that I'm low-key afraid to try other cafes because I don't want to be disappointed. If you're looking for a go to cafe in LA, this is it for sure. read more

Service was great! Very attentive and friendly from all the young staff, since It's hard to get this now a days in any business. Food was tasty and cook to perfection with great combinations. Steak was very soft and it taste amazing. Love the tomato sauce for the eggs and you can also use it for the steak. Bacon in the sandwich is the thick cut kind, I personally love bacon so if you don't like this type of cut I suggest maybe substituting it for something else. Ambiance is cozy and mellow, there is plenty of room to seat on the side counter or facing the street. There seems to be a patio but now sure if they open it. Just two weeks ago, my friend Justin and I checked out the soft opening of Sand Couch, and we're so glad we did! This place is a fantastic addition to downtown at Seventh and Grand--it fills that need for a casual breakfast spot perfectly. We indulged in the pancakes topped with blueberry compote, which were delicious, and I can't recommend the chicken sandwich with bacon jam enough--it was absolutely my jam! The icing on the cake was running into some friends while we were there. It's such an LA thing to bump into familiar faces on a Sunday brunch outing! Beautiful, spacious and super clean environment. I was traveling and wanted to try a few different places once but ended up at Sandcouch twice because the chai was perfect, the people (staff and customers) were friendly AND they're dog friendly. The bagel, egg and cheese sandwich had hot bacon - it definitely hadn't been sitting in a tray for hours or microwaved, like so many places do - and was very generous with the egg and cheese. Highly recommend - I didn't sit outside but it looked like a cute patio area as well. read more

I saw this on my daily walks and figured I check out their matcha. It's definitely worth the stop. I ordered a matcha latte with whole milk. It was the perfect temperature and at first I thought it was too sweet but after a good amount of sips, it ended up being just right. Solid coffee spot with a nice and inviting interior. A place to pull up a laptop and work on whatever. I'd definitely come back here again to try their other menu items. read more

I've been trying matcha all over downtown LA and this place did not disappoint. I loved the decor inside. It was clean and pretty. They had a nice chandelier and big windows to see the city through. I ordered matcha with whole milk and it was just how I liked it; nice and sweet. The service was good and so was their omelette. Their cinnamon roll was ok. I wish it had more icing on it, but it was still good. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Sandcouch. Nice interior, quick service, and pretty solid food. I had a pastrami sandwich and fries. I felt like the sandwich needed mustard or some sauce on it, but it was still pretty good. The fries were also good, very well seasoned, but I'm more of a fan of thicker fries. That's just me though. The food was filling and I'm looking forward to coming back and trying something else. read more

I live a block away and have been meaning to give Sandcouch a try. I had a friend visiting from Reno, and it is our tradition to try someplace new to me on a visit, so the timing was perfect. I did not know what to expect thematically, but it was very nice. It has a self-service aspect that helps reduce labor costs. You line up and place an order from an expansive menu, and then they bring your food to your table, which you claim before or after ordering. If you are a team, divide the work and have one member sit at your preferred table while the other orders and transacts for both of you. You bus your own plate to a bin when done. It is an airy, bright, happy atmosphere. The space is organized to maximize capacity, so there are a lot of different kinds of seating options. The tables are kept clean. When full, it can get a little loud, not Water Grill loud, but enough so that your conversation will take some attention. The quality of the food was very good. We had a bacon burrito, a protein-lover's plate (steak and eggs, effectively, with fresh greens, baby tomatoes, and avocado thrown in to guilt you away from purely carnivorous impulses--and toast for use with the eggs or avocado, whatever you prefer), and one 12 oz. coffee for which we paid a total of $44.15. It was all well prepared, which takes a little time, but you won't object. The atmosphere is conducive to lingering. It is a great way to start a weekend. read more

Looooove this place! It's the best way to enjoy your breakfast and watch the city swirl past you. It's a beautiful location and has beautiful decor, very Scandinavian chic. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. We started with coffee. My boyfriend ordered a mocha, and I ordered a salted caramel latte. His drink was fine, but mine had absolutely no flavoring. As a former barista, I could immediately tell it was just a plain iced latte. I politely asked the waitress if they had forgotten the syrup, and she insisted, "There is syrup in it, but I can ask them to add more." I knew there wasn't any syrup, but I didn't want to argue, so I said, "Sure, please add more." A few minutes later, the manager came over and told me they actually didn't have salted caramel. So I asked if I could just get a regular caramel latte instead. She then told me they couldn't make that either because they were out of caramel sauce, the very reason they couldn't make the salted caramel in the first place. So why hand me a plain iced latte and tell me it had syrup when you knew you didn't even have the ingredients? Why not simply come back and let me know you were out and ask if I'd like something else? Instead, I was given a regular latte at the price of a flavored one (plus they later charged me for the syrup they never even added). For context, I had originally ordered a dirty chai, which they also couldn't make. So that's two drinks they didn't have, yet no one thought to communicate that before serving me something completely different. When I told the manager I'd look back at the menu for another option, she responded, "Okay... are you going to tell the waitress what drink you want?" I just looked at her, confused, and said, "Well... yeah?" How else was I supposed to order a replacement? The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude. Then it was time to order food. My boyfriend ordered the truffle burger, and I ordered the French toast. The waitress came back a few minutes later and said they couldn't make the French toast. No problem, I told her I'd also have the truffle burger. She acknowledged it, wrote it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and what side I wanted. I ordered it medium-well with fries. So both burger orders were sent in at the same time. About 20 minutes later, the food arrived, but only my boyfriend's burger and an extra side of fries that we never ordered. At that point, we didn't even bother saying anything about the fries because we were trying to avoid making things more difficult. We waited another 20 minutes (even though it was so slow). My boyfriend finished eating, and my burger still hadn't come out. Finally, we asked for the check and requested that my burger be removed since it never arrived. That's when the waitress told us I had never ordered a second burger. I was honestly speechless. I reminded her that she had taken my order after telling me they couldn't make the French toast. She had written it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and asked what side I wanted. Her response was that she thought I meant only my boyfriend's burger. That explanation made no sense because my boyfriend's order had already been taken before she took mine. It honestly felt like we were being gaslit over something as simple as ordering a burger. To make matters worse, after we paid and were finally leaving, I looked at the receipt and realized I had been charged for the salted caramel latte that I never actually received. We had to go back yet again. Thankfully, a different employee, not the waitress or the manager helped us. They were friendly, understanding, and quickly corrected the charge. I'm not sure if management has changed, but this entire experience was unnecessarily frustrating from beginning to end. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Honestly, I should've taken the "B" health grade posted on the window as a warning. We ended up walking over to Blue Bottle next door for coffee instead, and I'd absolutely recommend going there if you're looking for a place that actually values customer service. After four years of coming to Zinc, this experience has me seriously questioning whether I'll ever be back.

I had the blueberry matcha and you could definitely tell the high quality matcha and the blueberry taste was great without overpowering. I also got the machaca burrito which came with an amazing homemade salsa. The tater tots added a great crisp and the beef was very well seasoned. Service was great and the register was able to accommodate any of my needs! I grabbed a couple things for my friend and she loved the quesadilla, great crisp and generous guacamole inside! The hazelnut coffee loaf was warm and so moist too. I would definitely want to come back to try the rest of their extensive menu. Ambiance seemed great to get some work done or study! A new gem in DTLA. This place is awesome! I found out the owner's daughter named the cafe after her dog who loves to lay on the couch. So cute! We went to try the new cafe and I was very impressed. The decor is fresh and beautiful. My wife loved it here. We tried a few dishes and they were amazing. For breakfast, I highly recommend Avocado & Burrata Toast and Strawberry Mascarpone Toast. For lunch and dinner, I highly recommended Crispy Herbed Fish and Cali Grilled Chicken Bowl. All very delicious. I also like the coffee here. The beans are fresh roasted and you can taste the difference. The ingredients were fresh and apparently they get much of their produce and ingredients from local vendors. The ambiance alone makes it a nice place to visit. I tried the Tiramisu Latte, but unfortunately, it was bland. I was expecting a rich, well-balanced flavor with hints of mascarpone, espresso, or cocoa, but it lacked depth and tasted a bit watered down. For a cafe with such a strong aesthetic, I was hoping the coffee quality would match. Overall, it's a nice spot to hang out, but the drinks could use some improvement. If you're coming here for the first time a must try is their Korean BBQ Bowl and their matcha, they're so GAS. The baristas in the front and the chefs in the back know what they're doing!
