Visited on Saturday with friends. We arrived at 6:30 and were seated at table outside as we requested. Nice setup with the tent and fans to keep us cool. I read the reviews and was hoping to have a nice upscale experience. We Ordered within 10 minutes of being seated and ordered very simple meals, a salad with shrimp, two baked ziti Sorrentino's and one eggplant Rollatini dinner nothing complicated no special orders. After waiting more than one hour for our entrées we asked our waiter to check on our food. I noticed that the manager I believe her name was Lisa came by a table behind us after looking at the tables around us and seeing that there were no food at the table she walked right by our tables and went to the table that had been served food. She asked them how the food was and left. She never looked at our table or asked us how long we were waiting or how we enjoyed the bread? The waiter came back and said the kitchen was having some issues and our order was the next ticket to be ready. We waited another 15 minutes and our food arrived. The eggplant roll a teeny had a minimum amount of cheese and was so flat it looked like eggplant Parmesan. The two ziti meals were OK but the eggplant was so minuscule you could barely see it. The salad with the shrimp was adequate nothing special. The waiter apologized for the wait and explain that the kitchen was overwhelmed. I asked him to look for the manager and sent him over so we could let her know about our experience but he told us that she had left for the evening she's not there all the time. We asked for the bill and noticed that he did not charge us for the sodas that we had which was a nice gesture on his part. We paid the bill and left our usual 20% gratuity because we realized it wasn't his fault and he was working very hard. I would've expected that somebody from the management team would have come to the table and apologized on behalf of the kitchen. But that did not happen. On the way out I asked the hostess that had seated us was she aware of the long wait for food and that she should've told us before she seated us that there might be a delay in our food order because of kitchen issues. She told me that I should have asked to speak to her and she would have checked on the ticket to see what the timing was and why it was delayed because an hour and a half is too long to wait. But since we had already paid our bill there was nothing she could do. We weren't looking for a free meal but it explanation or an apology would've been nice rather than an argument. Given the quality of the food the pricing and the delay in receiving our order we will not be returning to Sanduccis in the future. My recommendation would be before you are seated if you are going to the restaurant to ask how the kitchen is doing and be ready for a wait if they tell you they have some issues. read more

Sanducci's has moved, they are now 1 block north of their old location on the same side of the street. Really nothing different here. Same good help, same good service, same GOOD MENU, AND GOOD FOOD AND BIG FLAVORFUL PORTIONS. You've come for the food, stay for the high noise level, so take the good with the bad. This is also a BYOB in case you're wondering. There are 3 liquor stores in the area so don't worry. Handicap parking is in the rear, with an elevator to the main floor. Enjoy the sauce! read more

Super disappointed. The busboys that deliver the food, must all be new because there was no manners in regards to how they did things. They showed up at table with the plates, waiting for us to make space on the table for the plates. And when removing dishes, they are not conscience of personal space and don't take into consideration that you're sitting there. The gnocchi with ragu sauce was ok. Nothing special about any of it. The shrimp and linguine, had only 5 shrimp on it. The personal margharita pizza was also plain. My husband had a the grilled calamari, which was done very well. I had the eggplant parmesan, and it wasn't wonderful, poorly done. Also, if you're on a low carb intake, and ask for a side in lieu of the pasta, they're not nice about it, stating that it's their policy not to replace the pasta with spinach. That u have to pay extra for the spinach. When I asked to speak with management, all she said was that she would only charge me half of the cost of the side. How ridiculous! Never been to a pasta place where they weren't willing to substitute spinach for the pasta.... All in all, I won't be going back. read more

Came in for a friday date night with my husband. We had a great experience. Restaurant is fairly big and has a family feel. They have classic oldies music playing lightly in the background. Its also a BYOB witch is always a plus! We were waited on by Patrick, all I can say is he provided us the BEST service, 5 stars to him. In regards to the food, it was amazing. We did try entrees that were highly rated, but I have no complaints in any sense. I had the black linguini which is superb and he had the Sanducci's seafood paella which is a risotto and it was equally delicious and a more than generous portion. The food is reasonably priced especially taking into consideration the quality. Bottom line: its a must try in bergen county. read more

I used to love this place but I can't hate it more now. At dinner last night, I was very specific and asked for the vegetarian version of the pasta and it came with meat. I asked for pepper flakes and nothing for 10 mins until I asked again. I have never posted a yelp review in my life. After going here yesterday I felt as if I needed to. The service is horrendous. They have no idea how to run a restaurant. I asked for a sprite in the beginning, it didn't come out until I was half way done with my dinner. It wasn't even busy. I asked for penne with broccoli garlic and oil for dinner, my pasta had no broccoli. And when I informed the waiter I asked for broccoli, his response was "all I heard was garlic and oil." Love this local Italian restaurant. Nice decor, byob, always jam packed and great food. We tried the black squid ink pasta and the farfalle. Both were beyond a doubt delicious. Even the bread that comes with olive oil is great. One variety is warm, light and salty, the other one is cold with rosemary and tastes like dessert. So love this River edge local gem! read more

PROS: I took my girl to this place for a Valentines Day dinner and it was great! The food was the best, and there was a lot to choose from at reasonable prices! The wait staff was very nice, and allowed me to choose a table with my reservation! The place, including the bathrooms were very clean and they even have an area for private parties. CONS: The place had limited parking in the back and was a little cramped inside. The food took a little while to come out, however, it was crowded. The bathrooms were a little small and could only accommodate 2 people. They also only allow you to reserve a table with a minimum of 5 people on some days. OVERALL: I love this place and would highly recommend this to anybody! Even the girl I took there stated it was her favorite place, and I can definitely see why!!! read more

Had dinner here the other night. It was super crowded and the food smelled delicious. Ordered the burrata, pappardelle with short rib , and a cannoli. Food was good. What stood out to me was the Burrata. It was delicious. Creamy and flavorful I bothered the waiters for more bread so I made the most delicious little crostini. Short rib pasta was pretty good. It was a sweet brown sauce. Very filling. The cannoli had a background taste of orange and it ruined it for me. Remember that t's BYOB ! read more

What a great local, family run restaurant! The ambiance is very comforting: romantic dim lighting, white tablecloths, black and white photographs on the walls, wooden booths. I was SO DISAPPOINTED!!!! The waitress was okay, but she seemed a little ditsy. Then there's the food. For appetizers, we ordered the sweet calamari and garlic bread with Parmesan cheese. The calamari wasn't sweet nor was the marinara sauce that came with it. When we asked the waitress about it she said "I think I put it in as sweet, let me double check" she checks and comes back and said "I asked and they said that there's really no difference between sweet and regular" (so please tell me what's the point of having it on the menu if there's no difference). The garlic bread didn't taste like garlic bread at all so we sent it back and got a new one. It tasted and looked like it was doused in oil and cooked with some garlic powder on top. Didn't taste like garlic bread at all! My husbands actual meal was fine, however, my lasagna was DRENCHED in cheese so much so that you couldn't even see the actual lasagna. A manager came over and asked if everything was okay and "is that the lasagna" I told her yes and I haven't tried it yet, there's a lot of cheese on it (if your staff can't recognize the dishes you might have a problem) I finally took a bite and was so disappointed, there was essentially no flavor other than the cheese it was covered in and barely any meat in it. If I wanted a meal like that I would've just gone to a fast food place instead. Worst. Birthday dinner. Ever. read more

I've been to this place twice: once to try it out, and a second time to see if the lower quality food from my first visit was an outlier. Turns out the food just isn't that good. When I went both times, I ordered the black linguini as I had seen it was raved about in other reviews. It was legitimately just pasta drowned in butter and cream. The dish is wayyyy too heavy to the point where it makes you feel sick after. It sent me to the toilet both times. That's not how pasta is truly made or served. I was born and raised in Italy, and spent a good chunk of my life in Brooklyn, so I know what a good pasta dish is. You can tell when a restaurant drowns the pasta in sauce, they're trying to mask the quality of something in the dish. I've been searching around a lot for authentic Italian food in Bergen County, and I've learned this is most assuredly not the place to find it. If you're looking for an Americanized experience, this is your place. Update: Apparently Lisa doesn't believe I can think for myself. Need I say more? read more

Ugh... this place made me sick, literally. Was really hoping to love this place. Upon arrival, I was super impressed at the dimmed lights and beautiful decor. I thought, "finally a quality sit down Italian restaurant in my neighborhood". Nope, WRONG. Food was decent ; you probably would've even considered it good if you're a fan of cold food that's supposed to be served hot. After waiting about an hour (no exaggeration) for our food, it was served COLD. Despite asking for my eggplant rollatini to be served sans prosciutto, the waiter asked me to check and be sure it wasn't brought out with prosciutto. Having waited an hour for this meal, it better be exactly as requested. Alas, no prosciutto, but still cold. I needed it to be sent back and heated. This dish was literally thrown in the microwave, which is fine but you'd expect that from a chain restaurant, not this place. On top of that, the waiter wasn't nice or attentive. He brought out regular tea when my friend asked for decaf and brought us the wrong check when it was time to leave. Definitely wouldn't return to this place. This was my first time going to Sanducci's and it was for my girlfriend's 20th Birthday. We go with our friends who have never eaten in an Italian restaurant in NJ so we did not want to disappoint. And Sanducci's did not! The pictures online do not do the scenery any justice. I was amazed by all of the family portraits up on the wall and the service was great. We waited only 10-15 minutes for a table on a Friday night! On top of that, food was excellent. I ordered the Di Lisa and boy was it delicious. However, Our waiter was not to enthusiastic which made ordering our food a little uneasy. This could have been do to the restaurant closing in a couple of hours so I understand the waiter's point of view because I worked in the Food industry and I know how it feels to get a new table right before closing. Nonetheless, my time and experience at Sanducci's with my beautiful Girlfriend and friends was amazing. I would definitely recommend eating here!!! read more

I live about 10 blocks away from this restaurant. At dinner It is always packed and there are no reservations. Sanducci's is bring your own bottle which is nice, however though I have tried several dishes on at least 4 separate occasions (I had to keep trying to try and figure out if i was missing out on something because of all of the positive reviews) I found the food here very disappointing to me. Although I cannot recall exactly what I ordered each time I dined, I can remember ordering one of the signature dishes, the 'Homemade back linguine with chunks of Brazilian lobster tails" (which by description sounds absolutely delicious). With this dish specifically, I was very disappointed that my black linguine arrived with almost NO lobster in it. There were certainly no "chunks of Brazilian lobster tail". It was almost as if some sort of essence of lobster liquid was cooked into the pink cognac sauce for flavor. This is one of the most expensive entrées on the menu and I suppose I just found the description to be a bit misleading; akin to the disappointment of ordering a bowl of New England clam chowder that arrives with no chunks of clam. I know there is a limitation on what you can provide with a $20 entrée that is supposed to contain lobster meat, but I would have gladly paid $30 to receive what I had envisioned after reading the enticing description. If you read some of my other reviews you'll note I am very fair and I think I have a good understanding of the price versus quality ratio. I always take that into account when I am reviewing a restaurant. I admit, when it comes to Italian food I can be difficult to please, for this reason I rarely eat at Italian restaurants. It seems I developed a mild fascination with Sanducci's popularity when personally, I cannot seem to find something on the menu that I would order a second time. I know it is inexpensive and family-style but the food here just does not justify me spending ANY money. Anyone that comes from an Italian family will immediately detect that this food is not of high-quality; I would not even call it mediocre. At this point I am beyond puzzled with its popularity.... Maybe people enjoy the family atmosphere, but to me going out to dinner is as much about the food quality as it is the ambiance. read more

I just love Sanducci's. It has been our go-to place for years for family birthdays and get-togethers. I don't love the setup of the new restaurant as much as I liked the old one (old one felt more like a trattoria and new one seems a little more chain-y, like a Papa Razzi). Also, it's a bit of a maze/challenge to get to the restaurant from the back parking area. That said, it doesn't detract from the food one bit. Lots of seafood and chicken options. Also, a lot of pastas with seafood or chicken mixed in, which I like, because I think it's boring when you order something to get a protein in and it comes with a plain side of pasta/marinara, as opposed to having the protein mixed into a delicious, creative pasta dish. They usually have a long list of specials, too. The restaurant does sell one brand of wine, but it's also a BYO, so I'd recommend Bee-ingYO if I were you. Service is generally excellent. I don't love the focaccia, as it's pretty dry, but I love the other bread and the red pepper sauce it comes with. If you can go on a night when they have the buffet, do it! It is not like some cheesy buffet you'd find at a junior prom that is either cold or dried out. They showcase a wide variety of options (usually a couple of chickens, a fish, at least 1 pasta, veggies, eggplant, salad, and pizza) and it is SO worth it, like $18. Food is fresh and replaced all the time. Note that the buffet technically does come with something for dessert (biscotti might be the only choice, but it's awesome biscotti), but that is not widely advertised. I think it took 3 separate outings to learn that. read more

Surprised at how many great reviews. Food is ok, not great. The wait staff do move and get the job done. Food came out extremely fast. Hosts were bi polar. The woman did not seem genuine however the gentleman was very warm hearted and apologetic when our table was not ready. We ordered the baked ziti sorrentino and veal Milanese. Again both ok. Not sure how the baked ziti came out luke warm but it did. It had a slice of eggplant which was cool. The pasta was mushy and overall the dish was ok. Same the veal was good, not great. We gave this place 3 stars because the wait staff was attentive offset by food quality. read more

This place has amazing, absolutely amazing thin crust brick oven pizza . The atmosphere is very professional and there is this one waitress with dirty blondish hair that my family is obsessed with! She is so nice! Well all the workers are :) just one thing the steak is Kind of chewy and my dad wasn't please with it but everything else is delicious! Also try out the mozzerella sticks!
