This was our 3rd time eating here and it will now be our last. Our waitress Courtney S. today was so unbelievably rude. Eating out has gotten so expensive now that having to pay for such rudeness is so painful. Our waitress talked more to the wait and kitchen staff more than she did to her tables. The table across from us kept looking for her as she would disappear and talk with the other staff constantly. She told us she forgot our garlic knots and when she brought them out they had shrunken drastically from the last time we ate here. She then talked in the back hallway and never brought our salads so when the other gal went to bring our food to the table, she told them to take our hot food back because she hadn't brought our salads yet. She then continued to talk, then finally brought our salads with the wrong dressing and with the ingredients we told her our son couldn't eat. So then she brought out 1 too many salads then yelled you can just have that one for free we won't charge you as she walked away and told the whole restaurant. She then brought out a cheese pizza and when I nicely called "Ma'am"to get her attention, she turned around and glared at me and just stood there. It was SO WEIRD. I motioned for her to come back so I didn't have to yell across the restaurant and tell her that she brought us the wrong pizza because we ordered a pepperoni. She then went to the kitchen to tell them and then yelled to them "you take it out". The whole time the manager with the Fedora hat never came over and just looked at us and he usually comes over to check in when everything's fine. He got off the phone in the kitchen and we could hear him say, "crazy American doesn't need to eat our pizza". Who knows who he was talking to. The food came out and wasn't the hottest because it was sitting in the kitchen while we ate our salads, the correct pizza finally arrived, but then we did need to get up and go ask for the waitress to bring our bread because she forgot that too, when we were almost finished eating. It's a shame. Pretty unbelievable how people can be so rude to paying customers, especially since none of it was our fault and we were never rude to her. I would highly encourage you to skip this place. People say it tastes like New York. We've eaten in New York quite a bit and Italy as well, and this place doesn't come close to either. read more

Im from NY and we all know you cant get bread like NY in Summerville, SC. WELL we can now...The bread at Sangaree Pizza is the best, the owner Mario has it flown in twice a week from NY or NJ its the best. From the Hostess to the Owner you cant get any better service than that. The minute we walked in the Hostess was extremely gracious and accomdating. We had questions for the waitress who was very happy to answer all of our questions and not in a hurry. The owner Mario, came out of the kitchen to make sure everything was as we wanted it. It was more than okay. I had the Penne with Vodka sauce, it was the best I have ever had and I've had it all over the US. You will get a very nice hometown experience, with a staff that truly wants to serve you the best food while having a great dining experience. They also have live music sometimes. I order through Uber eats. 3 items and one gallon of tea got left out. I also order hot sandwich which wasn't how I order it . Then the other item was cold.. usually I don't have problems with my order here but, this time I did. We catered a Holiday Lunch from Italian Bistro Sangaree and it was delicious. We had Lasagna, Cheese Manicotti and a super fresh salad. Not only did the owner Mario deliver us lunch for 210 employees, he went out of his way to keep the dishes hot for several hours before we served. If you are looking for fancy dining this place is not for you, but if you are looking for decent Italian food at a reasonable price this is your place. I had the seafood pasta and besides missing the tenacles the dish was a ten. Fresh cherry tomatoes made the dish so fresh tasting. The penne ala vodka was also on point. Let me get this out there before I review the food. The wait staff is friendly as can be and great at their job. Now on to the food. The brushetta was not brushetta. It was untoasted soft Italian bread. The tomatoes weren't tossed with olive oil or seasoned, and there was no basil. It was pretty much just tomatoes with cheese on soft bread, and for some reason it was served on a bed of lettuce with olives? The mozzarella sticks were of the frozen variety and had a sauce that tasted like spaghettios. The spaghetti carbonara had zero flavor other than the bacon. Way too creamy and the pasta was cooked to mush. The eggplant Parm didn't have fresh mozzarella on it, it was hard cheese, probably the bricks you buy from the grocers. The dish also had no flavor other than that sweet spaghettios sauce they use for everything. Will not go back unless they do some serious taste testing. read more

One of my good friends works here and the owners use to own the Italian Bistro on Dorchester road that was featured on Restaurant Rescue. The food is ABSOLUTELY amazing. And the owner (Frankie) is super friendly and kind hearted. He actually works and helps prepare the food too. He's not one of those back seat owners/managers. They are pretty busy and get your orders out fairly quickly too. So anyways I ordered the Calzone large which really is LARGE and could feed a family of 4 easily. I should have ordered a small because it was that big. I also had the calamari which you can tell is freshly made in house. Not pre-battered and frozen. Now (Frankie) my only complaint is the garlic knots. Because Im comparing them to what they use to be. They are much smaller in size and not as soft and definitely way more garlicky than they use to be. Which was slightly disappointing since I was looking forward to what I use to remember. Now with covid pre-cautions I noticed some staff members not wearing a mask/ or wearing it properly or sanitizing their as frequently as they should be between customers. I really wish we loved the food here. The staff was so nice, fast, and friendly! Unfortunately though the food was mediocre. The garlic knots were the smallest we've ever seen (and look nothing like the picture on the menu), the pizza was average, and the shrimp Alfredo was lacking flavor. Even though we were not a huge fan of the food, the staff and atmosphere was great! Overall the food was not horrible, just lacked that depth of flavor we were hoping for. Update on 6/11 - we ate here on Wednesday 6/9 and I've have food poisoning ever since. Both mine and my husbands stomachs were upset Wednesday after dinner. This restaurant is very average, decent food but our main complaint was a problem with the service. We explained to our server we wanted chicken parmigiana but no sauce on the pasta. She was very confused for some reason & asked us several times to explain the order over & over? Needless to say it arrived with no sauce on the entire meal & no butter in the pasta, so we kindly asked that it be corrected. Chelsea, our server, literally rolled her eyes at us, was extremely rude & argued with us that this is what we asked for to the point that other patrons overheard. She was extremely unprofessional & incompetent. We then asked for a manager, who did not apologize for her employees's bad attitude but easily understood what we had asked for & brought us a corrected order. The customer at the next table witnessed our server Chelsea's rude behavior and said he not only would have comped our meals but he would have fired Chelsea on the spot, as he owns several restaurants himself and their was NO excuse for her attitude & argumentative behavior. We were not offered an apology nor any compensation by the manager and therefore will not patronizing this restaurant in the future as they made no effort to keep our business. read more

I love this place, even though I have never been inside. From their cheesesteaks, to their pizza, to their spaghetti and meatballs, banzini bread, and their sauce/gravy. Our family loves their food. Door dash delivered hot and fresh today within 30 minutes :-). What I really want to mention though is that we would order from here once a week instead of once of month if they had in-house delivery. I do not understand the reasoning behind not having in-house delivery. The prices pretty much double going through a 3rd party. Definitely a hole in the wall place, yet the food is excellent, the service is exceptional, the people are very friendly and if you aren't drinking alcohol the prices are extremely reasonable. Unfortunately, while eating Italian, you have to have a nice Chianti, so the price becomes a bit more unpleasant, as they do charge a high premium for their liquor. I usually get the Stromboli, the Classic and my wife gets the Cheese Ravioli, both are very good, and always get the side salad with extra house dressing, very good and slightly more healthy than the entrees. Though with most of their meals get the small size for the Stromboli, as is, I eat half for dinner and eat the rest for lunch. Definitely worth a try if you have never been there, granted wish it was were Laura's is now, but what the heck, can't have everything. read more

We finally made it to the Italian Bistro. Definitely felt like we were back in New York..nothing fancy, just incredible food. There was a problem. We waited 45 minutes for our dinner. They were backed up in the kitchen because of a large order coming in. We were just about ready to walk out when our server brought out 2 of the most delicious plates of pasta! Shrimp, clams and muscles in a devine red sauce. The pasta was so light and the seafood was cooked to perfection. We couldn't believe the seafood wasn't over cooked because the sauce was so hot. We both looked at each other and had the same reaction.. This was worth waiting for!!! I have found my ultimate go to for pizza. The food was delicious! I haven't had good pizza in decades and this was exceptional pizza!! From the thin crust to the perfect sauce to the fresh toppings, just perfect!! The service was friendly, the food was quick, and the ambiance was casual. They don't deliver, but they do participate with Uber Eats and Door Dash. They also have a rewards program you can sign up for, which I did. I grew up in New Jersey, and spent years in both Philadelphia and New York City, and I'm calling this pizza "legit". 2. It's in Summerville, South Carolina.
