I went in for lunch and after a few minutes of waiting , I was asked what I wanted to order. I got the 3 piece dark for about 10 bucks which honestly wasnt a bad price. As they chopped the chicken and prepared my plate i was surprised to see how small these pieces were. The plate also came with two sides with which I got rice and yucca. The rice and yucca were really good. The rice had a nice flavor and the yucca was crispy on the outside without being dry on the inside but nice and fluffy. read more

There were 2 signs out front advertising the phone number to call when you arrived, so the staff could bring your food to your car...curbside pick up. I called 3 separate times and received no answer. Finally decided to go inside, and when I mentioned I had called, was told they get busy. No ma'am, that is not the proper response during a pandemic when you advertise curbside pick up. Not only was their service misleading, the chicken sandwich was dry. My husband suggested going to Nandos for a quick family dinner on a Friday night but then I remembered Sardis had just opened near us. We walked in around 6:30 and it was pretty busy but we still were able to find a booth and get a high chair. We decided to split a half chicken meal (saving room for DQ next door) with plantains and rice. The chicken was juicy and I loved both the green and yellow sauces. The plantains were fried well and very delicious. The service we received on the line and at the register was friendly. Prices are more than reasonable as well. I have been a patron of Sardi's for years, but the last several months have been increasingly frustrating. First, the lack of service by phone. As of late, there is a lady who answers the phone and cannot understand what I am saying and somehow assumes I am speaking Spanish - which I'm not - and suddenly calls out for someone who speaks Spanish and won't come back to the phone. This has happened to me three times. Next, the quality of the food has slowly been decreasing. The sandwiches are filled with extra mayo, soggy tomato and lettuce, and I end up with a puddly sandwich. It's gross. Lastly, I was recently told that my order doesn't even include their sauce anymore. I just don't understand how it's all gone so wrong. read more

We placed an online order for delivery through their website, which is powered by ChowNow. I ordered the Inca Bowl with a side of yuca fries. It passed the time at which my email confirmation said our order would be ready, but I still hadn't received a text or anything from the ChowNow driver indicating it was out for delivery. I had to call the restaurant NUMEROUS times - yet no answer! I honestly thought they had closed and accidentally left ChowNow online for orders. All good things, apparently, must come to an end. While it is not unusual for Sardi to have "hit or miss" locations...this location is definitely a MISS! I've come here 3xs in the last two weeks, and today is the 4th and final. Overall, customer service is subpar, issues arise because of communication barriers, it also appears they cater to a preferential customer, as I noticed how my servings where on the skimpy side compared to the other customers. While I absolutely LOVE Sardis, this is one of the first stops on my trips to the DMV, I'll only patronize the Capitol Heights and Temple Hills locations for now...satisfaction guaranteed! read more

I was looking forward to a chicken place within walking distance. The chicken is ok and kind of dry. The sides are good with usual yuca, white/fried rice, black beans, etc. and sauces all have great taste. The biggest downfall of this place is their slow service and inexperienced workers with cooking chicken. The two times I have been here, I have had to wait a long time for my food because either the chicken is still cooking and I don't mean waiting 5 mins like the standard waiting time in the Peruvian/Rotisserie industry but more like 15 mins wait. And the worst thing is the "cooks" are not experienced at al so they keep taking chicken out and putting back and over cook it which makes it dry. Management should learn best practices from the nearby chicken places that have been doing this for decades in regards to cooking and hiring cooks! I've eaten at the Washington Blvd. location, too. Both were identical, I think. Quantity and quality of food for price is great. Sardis is a more upscale chicken place, so it's very clean and presentation is great for what it is. You see all sorts of people in here and for good reason! Roast Chickens - The roast chicken is, in my opinion, a touch better than the other "pollo a la brasa" places that are all over. Not nearly as greasy or overly salted as some of the dingier roast chicken places. The chicken is excellent and seasoned without being too salty or greasy. The lunch special is a half chicken, 2 huge sides, and soda for $12. Totally awesome. It blows the $12 trendy lunch bowls away, no questions asked. Milanesa - Had at this location and it was fantastic. Huge, thick, juicy, fresh cooked and lightly breaded chicken breast. Served over plain rice and topped with an egg. Fantastic dish. The chicken has light, fluffy breading like you used to find in old-school Italian American chicken parm. dishes. When I say thick, I mean thick like a steak and as round as a pancake. Super juicy. I'm used to Hispanic Milanesa being thin and pounded, almost crispy. This was unique and incredible. I hope it wasn't a fluke! Chicarrones - Skip this! The opposite experience of the Milanesa. Totally underwhelmed and disappointed. Way too salty, small dry bits of fried skins and some dark meat. I felt it was a rip-off, to be honest. The only "bad" thing on the menu. Wouldn't get again or recommend. Empanadas - these are a nice change of pace. Served as 3, choice of steak or chicken, with the onion salad on the side and sauces, of course. The inside isn't dry like many types of empanadas. It's a savory sauce with the meat inside. The steak is more popular, but the chicken was more unique. Steak felt like a cheaper hot pocket in a way? Plain rice - nice whenever I've had it. Fluffy, light, not clumpy or greasy. Plantains - not too sweet, which is good. Short and thick. Some plantains are cooked saccharine sweet and dripping in goo. These aren't. Would recommend. Roasted potatoes - excellent. Not too salty, not greasy. Nice seasoning and gentle crisp. Mashed - good but I need gravy with my mashed. The American inside of me, what can I say? I'm not sure if they forgot it or what. Some large lumps, but good. Not too salty, and you can taste the milk base component (which is a part of mashed anyway). Veggies - all pretty good. lightly seasoned and not terribly greasy. It's not a health food side of plain steamed veggies, but it's not drowning in oil and salt either. Fried rice - the problem is that it's never cooked fresh here. Fried rice relies on being fresh cooked. Instead, it sits around all day like Chipotle rice with the girls coming over to stir it occasionally. It's tasty and not too greasy or salty, but if you get it at an off time, it will look and taste like...well, old fried rice. OVERALL: Milanesa and roasted chickens are wonderful. Empanadas are an interesting treat. Skip the chicharrones. Sides are all excellent, but I'd probably avoid the fried rice unless you see it fresh. They're plentiful with the sauce containers, so get one of each and see what you like! read more

My girlfriend and I had an excellent experience with Sardis this weekend! We placed an order in advance to pick up and they were thoughtful enough to call us prior to pick up and ensure they had all the sauces we wanted correct. Unfortunately they might have been too focused on the sauces that they mixed up my yuka fries for plantains. That being said, I called them to alert them of the mix up, not expecting anything on my end. Edwin, their manager, told us to come back, and get a fresh order of yuka fries. We waited a LONG time for Sardis to open, and it was definitely worth the wait! The food was fresh, there were lots of options, and though there were lots of people in line, it moved quickly. The food has the classic Peruvian flavor with traditional fried yucca, but there are veggies that expand the palatial (; horizons -- think grilled veggies with potatoes, fried okra nuggets, black beans and rice, green beans, and others. Don't go expecting the tiny green and yellow pots of sauce, they offer mild, medium, and spicy sauces in sealed sauce packs. My only critique is the sound level in the building. There are high ceilings which make it a bit noisy to have conversation. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant because it's conveniently located, the decor is fresh and appealing, the staff is friendly and efficient, and most of all, the food is absolutely delicious! read more

I have not been in Sardis for some time now. Tried it again and was a disaster. We were aware of a $5.00 sandwich promo and we asked, the lady sent us directly to the cashier because she didn't know the offer, and the cashier did not know which were the sandwiches in the promo. Requested a Gyro and apparently the cheese was bad. Requested it to be redone without the cheese and it was worst. They put so much dressing that caused a mess and the chicken was tasteless. Food I have to say is pretty good. The lay out of the restaurant is nice. Comfortable environment. Nice design. The thing that of course makes every restaurant is it's STAFF. The staff in this place is not good. Unprofessional, rude, they don't take their job seriously or their customers. The management really needs to train their staff better on such things called "CUSTOMER SERVICE". I give their customer service a 0 (zero). Staff is very disappointing.
