This place was really pretty on the inside! Just what i would expect in the city. It is two floor seating so you can sit upstairs and look down or out their windows. The cashier was very sweet and seemed like she enjoyed her job which I appreciate! We waited about 15 minutes for our food which sas a decent time. There was a mix up and we received the wrong order and it got passed around different tables so the organization was lacking a bit. The burgers were delicious and juicy, just as expected. The mac and cheese was described as baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs but I basically received stouffers mac and cheese you can get in the frozen section it wasnt baked because it was served in the same plastic container it was defrosted in and had no flavor or breadcrumbs and it was $6 for that. On my way to the 6 train, I had walked by Schnipper's a couple of times. Yesterday, I was craving a cheeseburger and didn't really feel like going all the way to Shake Shack, so I settled an walked over. I kind of went crazy with the ordering and got three things (I was starving!) : (1) Cheeseburger, (2) Cheese Fries and (3) Black and White Milk Shake. Bill came out to be around $18, so not a cheap meal. (1) The Cheeseburger was enough to satisfy my craving, but I wouldn't say it was anything amazing. Somewhere between McDonald's and Shake Shack I'd say. (2) I don't know why I expected more from the cheese fries.. kind of wish I just gotten regular fries or no fries at all. Also did not finish these! One of the reviews posted mentioned this being skinny frozen fries- I agree with that! Nothing special. (3) The black and white milk shake - vanilla milk shake with fudge syrup - could have been better. I couldn't taste more than the globs of fudge syrup coming up. I wish the cashier would have explained better - would have just gotten the vanilla shake. All in all, the food was okay... nothing special. And another thing - the menu is way too overwhelming. Clearly this isn't everyday cuisine, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't resort to a mouthwatering Schnipper's burger far more than I should when I just didn't feel like preparing my own meal to take to work. From the managers to the servers to the cooks to the delivery boys this particular franchise is run like a well-oiled machine. It sits in the ground floor of the GE Building, which is a gorgeous rose colored marble art deco style building on Lexington. However, my mode of consumption usually involves Grubhub. If I say I want it medium rare, it arrives medium rare. If I say I want extra pickles, I get extra pickles. Every time. The meat is clearly high quality, nicely spiced, and the portions are American sized (for better or worse). The insanely consistent quality of service, fare and adherence to specific requests make this place a great choice for anyone who works in the area, because you will never find your lunch break squandered over an unnecessary cock-up. My only gripe is that they charge a delivery fee which they say covers the administrative cost of deliveries (or some such jargon) and is not given to the actual delivery guys. Now, I work about four blocks from this place. The guys arrive on foot or by bicycle. Either way, I have a hard time imagining what extra cost they are incurring in this manner. My guess is it is either a scam to make more money, or a means of passing the cost of shitty tippers onto people like myself for whom 20% is the absolute baseline. I still tip extremely well (because I know from experience what their job is like) but It kind of pisses me off that the tip and delivery fee amount to upwards of one third or more of the entire cost of the meal. If anything, their delivery fee means I'm more likely to bring food from home, so perhaps it's for the best. read more

Every time I go, the staff gets ruder and ruder. It's a bunch of kids who don't really care what they are doing. No pride in their work. I usually stay at a hotel in the area, so I've stopped by more than once (although I won't ever go back now). Love their chocolate shakes, but they come with an attitude. Usually from anyone who is there, never met a pleasant worker there yet, I guess it reflects on the manager, who maybe should be let go and someone new should train the staff. What a terrible place. Food arrived over 2 hours and 10 minutes after I placed my order through Seamless. My office is just a block across from this restaurant. Yes, I get that there was a computer issue but that's their problem. They should have managed their computers properly and it's not the customer's fault, is it? I called them up after 2 hours, asking for a full refund and the manager told me that he could give me a refund but that in that case the food they already sent out would not be delivered. I was frustrated because it was late evening and there are few options due to my time constraints. The food eventually did arrive after over 2 hours and 10 minutes. Because the delivery was way too late, I should have gotten the food and at least a partial refund. When I made my order, I was purchasing a food delivery service that was to be completed within at most 75 minutes (as their Seamless page says). When they can't perform their part of the bargain, they should compensate their customers for their failure. After all, it was their fault for not taking care of their computer system. Never order from this place if you are hungry. The food is mediocre. They also don't properly execute their orders. I ordered an extra ranch sauce for an extra dollar and few cents as well but they forgot to include that sauce. There should be more burgers/fries options in Midtown East. read more

A big selection makes you step to the side when you are in the order line to have others pass till you are content with your decision and go for it. I went with a grilled chicken avocado sanGwich which I enjoyed. Prices are all reasonable for lunch and the staff is friendly. If you place your to-go order, you are handed a tablet that buzzes when your order is ready. During prime-time lunch hour, you can notice a bit of a cluster by the kitchen/condiment section...that's where you belong :) Expect to wait about 10 or so minutes for a single order and longer if you have more to go because the dining room is usually full and the kitchen is working double time. So I"m watching the Food Network and I see a show about burgers; and specifically about a green chile cheeseburger. And it hits me; I've never had a green chile cheeseburger in NYC. Why? Why is this meat confection missing from my resume? So I consult my Yelp guide and I find that just about the only green chile cheeseburger within 50 miles is at Schnipper's, which is about 2 blocks from my office. Oh happy day! I walk in and the first thing that hits me is the menu board and the price of a green chile cheeseburger is $9. I tell myself, "Self, this better be good, because you just criticized Shake Shack for their too expensive, too small burger." But I go ahead and order. The burger comes out, and the size at least looks reasonable, but not huge. I bite into the burger, and I am struck that unlike most joints like Schnipper's, they brought me a burger beautifully medium rare, and the juices are flowing all over the place! The green chiles are flavorful but not too spicy and the cheese is not intrusive to the flavor of the chiles. And the bun is fresh and is sopping up the juices nicely. I would guess if I was in New Mexico the chiles might be even a little more prominent, but all in all this is a pretty good representation of a green chile burger, and when I have a Jones for green chiles I will definitely go back. read more

I have definitely had better and no way I am returning. This seemed to me as just a better version of McD's. They have what they call as signature burgers etc but there did not seem anything signatory about it. It was a soft bun, mildly seasoned patty and the regular toppings. The meat lacked flavor of any kind. I also got a side of cheese fries and the cheese on the fries seemed to be very sparingly dispersed. Could definitely have done better. My wife and I came to Schnippers on a Saturday night after a day of work for both of us. We live in the area and have walked by this place for years and never went in (as another Yelper wrote, it does give a vibe of being for midtown tourists). We got the southwest chicken sandwich, the regular chicken sandwich, and chili fries. All in all, the food was pretty good, not amazing but quite decent. I would come back. We ate in and it took about 20 mins for the food to be served (which was slightly longer than I would have expected). There's a bunch of seats both upstairs & downstairs. I sat waiting for my order to be ready. It took about 20 min. I didn't get the notification that my order was ready, but the app said it was. I went to the back to get it. My order is sitting there. I was surprised to see fries included. There was a good amount in there. I wasn't able to finish. The fries were really good. This place allowed me to order online in advance (with a 20% off coupon for my first time doing so), had a great kid-friendly selection of food, and service was friendly. When we arrived, my husband's salad was missing the chicken. They were apologetic and gave us a free fountain soda for our trouble as we waited for the chicken to be cooked. Kids all sat down and ate while we waited. Decent atmosphere. Here's the deal...This is more like a 3.5 stars...My 1st visit to the Schnipper's establishments I had the old fashioned burger ( I think it's called) and their Mac & Cheese. I really liked the burger. They grill onions, then top with cheese. I was cooked perfectly medium and tasted great! I wouldn't say it was up there with some other establishments who specifically are "Burger" places.. But overall very good! I enjoyed the Mac & Cheese and the bread crumbs added a nice texture on top! One down note was the garden salad & grilled chicken. The chicken was dry & burnt. I would not say this place is better than Shake Shack, but it's pretty good and very close to where I work. I placed an online order for my 6 year old, to pick up on way home. They screwed up a simple cheeseburger order by omitting the cheese! I had to go back and ask for cheese. While waiting for that to get done, I ordered fries and a burger for myself, using the same app. They gave me back my kids burger with toppings -- even though the order asked for all toppings on the side because he hates his lettuce and tomatoes smashed into the melted cheese. Strike one. Then my order was supposed to be ready for pickup at 614p. It wasn't ready. Even though my order was the only order sitting on the rack 20 minutes prior, they simply didn't bother to make it. 10-15 min later, I finally got my food. Strike two. Then they completely screwed up my order! Burger was supposed to have pepper jack cheese. Nope, got plain American. And I asked for the BBQ sauce on the side. Nope, zero sauce provided. Strike three. I hope this place shuts down. With shake shack across the street, why would anyone ever eat here given the cruddy service. And this is each and every time I've been here. No literally, it's the half way point from my office to my house which is a little dangerous for my waistline buuuut I reckon it's what makes me qualified to brag about how good it is cause I've eaten like errything on the menu. Even though it's a burger place-I can really recommend tha chicken tenders are SO good AND they're gluten free, and the best burger is the blue cheese one. I'm a sucker for burgers and fries and if Five Guys were closer, I'd probably eat that a few times a week (and weigh 30 more pounds...and likely be single). I'd never heard of them before and when I saw their menu which has a wide variety of options they looked like they had potential. Unfortunately I've only had their burgers but what I can tell you is they have been consistent and are quality. This place was my go-to when I ate dinner/lunch late on my NY trip - it was right in front of Doubletree (where I stayed at). The place is huge and not too busy so I didn't feel awkward eating solo. Good for me, bad for them though. Overall 3.5 stars. I would describe Schnipper's as a higher-end fast food establishment. The burgers are made fresh to order and are pretty tasty. Our servings of sides (onion rings and fries) were decent in both size and flavour. Where I would knock off half a star is the price vs value ratio. Yes, they do technically have table service in that they will bring your meal to your table when it's ready but let's be honest, at the end of the day this is fast food. Lunch for 2 (burgers, sides, non-alcoholic drinks) came out to $28 dollars. A bit steep when matched-up against similar establishments like Shake Shack. Overall I would recommend them and would see it being a good lunch location if you work in the area. Be prepared to jostle for a table during lunch time though - elbows out!
