Scoopers is a Reno institution. I've been visiting here for ages, and their ice cream and milkshake game is absolutely legendary. As far as soft serve goes, it really can't be beat. Scoopers is your classic old school greasy burger joint offering diner classics in addition to an absolutely massive list of milkshake flavors. You order at the counter, and they'll call you up when your food is ready. They have a large dining room with plenty of room to eat with a large group or on your own. The food here is ok. Their meal options have never blown me away, so on this latest visit, we just grabbed some sweet treats. A Dr. Pepper float, a fresh banana milkshake, and a couple of vanilla soft serve cones. The ice cream lives up to expectations. Move aside, McDonald's- Scoopers has a WORKING ice cream machine, and it's BETTER! The ice cream is so creamy, and the cones are huge. The fresh banana shake has chunks of real banana. Is there better ice cream out there? Sure. But for inexpensive soft serve in that classic diner environment, Scoopers is great. And if you're feeling it, grab a burger too.

I heard this is where all the locals go. From the vibe, I could tell that's right. Simple but colorful fun interior. I had a Hawaiian burger because, you just have to when it's on the menu. And to keep the debate going. Do you like pineapple on your... oh, that's another food. The only downfall, raw onions. Service was a little slow but probably because you can't make a good thing fast. If you're looking for something unique and cheaper than casino food, stop by.

We stopped by Scooper's Kietzke Lane location to indulge in some sweet treats: ice cream sundae, a regular vanilla cone, a root beer float and an Oreo shake plus some drinks and a family-sized order of fries. The restaurant was pretty busy when we walked in hut the guy behind the counter was manning the register and the pick-up window like a seasoned professional. We didn't have to wait very long to receive everything we ordered and we were all very satisfied with each of our desserts.

Just had our second visit here. I really like this place. It's not fancy (a restaurant branding and interior design firm could take this place aesthetically to the next level) but Scoopers is always clean and you can tell the food is fresh and prepared well. Our most recent visit was on a Friday night and service was still prompt and it wasn't too crowded inside, plenty of open tables. Scoopers, I really like you guys. Thanks for the good prices, quality burgers, and effort you guys obviously put into maintaining a clean interior. I'm happy to be a reoccurring customer. :)

My quarter pounder with cheese, fries and chocolate shake was very good! I forgot to say no pickles but they were good! My son had the pastrami hamburger and he liked but says tomato was too sweet! Great service and couldn't believe how fast our burgers were done (Chili's takes longer and sometimes its raw)! The restaurant looks nice and they were busy!

I'd never stopped here before but for sure I will come back again and again. Conveniently located south of the shipping center that has Savers and Joanne Fabrics, alas Harbor Freight is gone. But this center is south of all those places, hard to find a parking spot. Maybe due to time off day? Beauty school? Record shop? Anyway, well worth the tour around the lot to find a space. My Hawaiian burger had pineapple and bacon and cheese and it was cooked to perfection! It was REALLY hard to decide what shaker to get but I made a good choice! Gingerbread. ESP with the Holly Daze coming!

There was a hair on the fries not mine (my hair is long and braided)

Hair in fries. Got taxed on cold ranch. .75 cent for one regular size ranch cup came out to .81 cents for ranch cup is ridiculous. I have never been taxed on purchasing condiments. Food is good but service and employee mannerism is terrible. Especially the cashier today Saturday 11:35 am

Definitely the best milkshakes in town. There are so many flavors and it's just the right consistency. But, I wasn't as big of a fan of their food. I got the chicken sandwich which was greasy and falling apart. Onions rings were just okay. Burgers looked better than my sandwich, should have probably gotten that.

I will forever recommend Scoopers to anyone that I know. I have been a huge fan since I was little. My grandmother used to take me to grab a milkshake and cheeseburger in her 1977 Monte Carlo. It was always one of our favorite things to do together, and I continue the tradition still. The burgers are SO good! And everything else too if I'm being honest. There really isn't one bad thing on the menu. Today, I had the Sgt. Cheddar burger with crispy fried onions, bourbon sauce, pickles, tomato, and shredded lettuce. I am so happy that exists on the menu because I cannot stop ordering it, along with the French fries that are almost perfect every time. They can be a little too salty at times, but they're still really good and salt can be dusted off. The service has gone through its ups and downs over the years at both locations, but for the most part they have had great people on staff. One of my favorite things about Scoopers has always been the classic soda signs and other artwork around the walls of each location. Always something cool to look at.

    Bradley K.

Actually a pretty juicy burger. Got the Sgt. Chedder with an extra patty. Definitely enough meat, no need for the extra patty. Great tasting burger. Burger was pink on the inside but unevenly cooked. Raw towards the edge. Wife got the bacon burger. The Matterhorn I believe. Another taster choice. Chili fries were pretty good too. Service was good. I do want to say that they closed at 8 and we got there at 7 so I don't know if our food was rushed on the grill or what but my burger could use a little more time on the grill. Also they stopped taking orders at 7:20ish-7:30. Man there has to have been a total of 10-12 people that couldn't put there order in due to coming in after that time. I get closing on time but I would have to say that there was definitely money left on the table. Not my restaurant, not my problem but just some things that I noticed.

Yikes. Where do I start...ordered 2 double cheeseburgers with bacon, comes with LETTUCE and TOMATO :) Got home, got 1 burger. Won't be back.

Also, don't miss the extra seating tucked away behind the bar if the front looks full. I also opted for their house michelada paired with a shot for $8 (I believe), which was a great deal. Another nice touch was their frequent visitor stamp card. I'll definitely be back and plan on trying the chicken wings next time. The owner of Ruby Shake Shop routinely parks his Audi in the limited public street parking spaces along South Virginia Street directly in front of Raising Cane's, Ike's Love & Sandwiches, and the surrounding businesses. Anyone familiar with this area knows parking can already be difficult, especially during peak hours when people are trying to grab lunch, pick up an order, or make a quick stop. What makes this particularly frustrating is that these spaces appear to be occupied for extended periods of time, often throughout the day, by someone who owns and operates a nearby business. Public street parking in a busy commercial corridor is a shared resource intended to serve customers and visitors, not to function as a personal parking space for a single business owner. This review is not a reflection of the products or service at Ruby Shake Shop. It is simply feedback regarding what appears to be an extremely inconsiderate use of limited public parking in an area where parking availability already impacts customers and neighboring businesses.

Was surprised it had a second floor with a small deck and pretty decent views! Big place. Great Happy Hour Deals (half off drinks) and other specials. I haven't eaten breakfast there but the burger I'd put in the top 4 in Reno. It is giant diameter wise but the meat is the same amount of a smaller thicker burger which makes it no too hard to eat. I'd call this a Purist's Burger. Crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, sauce. They went really light on the sauce to the point I didn't think it had any. Fries were excellent too. Price is very reasonable (that's typical near a college.) I've tried Royce, Juicy's, and The Parlor. I'd put Archies below Royce and Parlor but above Juicy's. I asked whether I should order onion rings or fries, he said order the Texas Toothpicks.. Combo of beer battered onions and jalapeños. Ok let's do this. Richard's must have checked in on us 5-7 times during our meal, great service! Actually we had an entire conversation about his service, friendly, efficient, quick, chatty, and gets the order right! Order Bloody Mary served with banana pepper, green olive and lime.. no salted rim, which is fine, missing salty component for me BECAUSE I LIKE SALT... Drink was GOOD. Bloody Mary and Corona brought icy cold within two minutes. Jalapeno burger and fries son loved his burger! Son felt his burger had appropriate amount of salt and great char crusting. Garlic butter burger and Texas Toothpicks which is beer battered onions and jalapeños. In my opinion this burger starts with the bread.. Delicious soft bun that actually fits the patty. The patty had a nice sear on it, it was under seasoned and almost well done. The burger was lacking salt component to complement the garlic. Had the burger been seasoned, and had I have ordered it medium rare, (my mistake) it would have been really good. The burger did come without condiments which I appreciate because I can put my own in appropriate amounts to my liking. I added a pinch of salt, no complaining and we were good to go! I didn't even eat 1/4 of my food! The burgers and portions were HUGE!! The Texas Toothpicks were really good, a good fry was achieved on them. They held up to being dipped in ranch. 1/2 order hot wings and fries The wings were ordered breaded and hot. They had a good crisp, and were fried appropriately! Good amount of salt. The fries were served super crispy, piping hot and perfectly salted. The order came with carrots and celery without having to ask. Ranch.. Ranch is a serious condiment in our household with food like this. It was good. An appropriate amount was served with wings, and of course for us fries and ranch go hand in hand. The restaurant was clean, all staff was friendly and great service!!!
