Our first time visiting the Scrambler Café for breakfast and really enjoyed it -- especially since it had a clear Hawaiian food vibe that reminded us of our recent trip to the Big Island. We were excited to get another taste of some of our favorite vacation flavors! Standouts were the spam masubi bowl (savory and satisfying), the spicy chorizo omelette (great flavor with just the right kick), the build-your-own scrambler, which was fresh and very tasty, and the pandan pancakes (visually fun, and the pandan sauce was absolutely delicious). We also loved the drinks -- the ube matcha, fresh pineapple-orange-guava juice, fresh pineapple juice, and fresh guava juice were all excellent and clearly made with real fruit. Heads up on the ordering process: you order first at the counter, then they seat you and set up your table. Our only suggestion would be to tweak the pandan pancake recipe -- the pancakes were bright blue and tasted more like food coloring than pandan, though the sauce was fantastic. Overall, great food, great drinks, and a fun breakfast spot. We'd happily come back! read more

Jasmine at the Ontario location is so wonderful! She went above and beyond serving us, even when we forgot to order a coffee. The food is great! The service was awesome. Food is fine, but service is awful. We waited over 5 minutes in line to order with no one in front of us because they have ONE person who takes someone's order, then leaves the register to seat them, then gets them water at one station and silverware at another, then gets them condiments somewhere else and THEN finally comes back to take the next party's order at the register. All the while 3 or 4 employees are walking around behind the counter talking and laughing, but none of those employees help the original customer or the next one standing at the counter. Very poor customer service model. Oh, and then...even though there were 12-15 seats available, they would not allow us to sit where we wanted to sit. I ordered and sat down at one booth (after standing there for 5 mins waiting to order) and then after my husband ordered and paid, they made me move to the next booth over. Why? The booth I was in was open and was where I wanted to sit. Again, very poor customer service. read more

This place was not good. I don't get what all the hype is about. Food was bland and boring and sitting in the patio was gross because it smelled like wet dog butt out there which added to the unpleasant experience all around. I regret this so much. read more

My husband and I have come to this restaurant at least 4 times now and I officially have decided not to return. The ube pancakes are bomb, hands down delicious. If I ever order from here again, it would be for these pancakes. The rest of the food...it's good but Every. Single. Time. It is COLD. It really pisses me off to be honest. The flavor is THERE, but why is my food COLD?! This last time we went my husband had enough and asked if I could get hot refried beans instead of the cold ones on my plate. I had ordered the breakfast burrito. I was in mid bite when she takes the plate. My husband asked if she could bring an ADDITIONAL plate w the beans so I could eat my food, the girl said no bc she had to SHOW IT to the kitchen. I get back my plate with..cold beans again LOL. What is up with that?! Not to mentioned the horrible customer services of removing my food to fix a problem caused by their kitchen. Why not bring me a side of beans to not disturb the experience. WHY? Bc they don't care and obviously lack training. It's almost as if they plate the sides while the food cooks so by the time you get the food, only the eggs are warm and everything else is cold. I've had the chilaquiles here previously. Cold. I literally have to plan menu options to avoid having sides. Hence the breakfast burrito and even that had cold sides. If you don't mind cold food then go here. Otherwise, sorry not sorry, Butter in Claremont is just as good with hot food every - single - time. So long Scramblers! It was nice while it lasted but, work on your quality. At these prices and with their cold food and mid service, this restaurant was removed from our rotation. Good luck - teach your kitchen how to serve hot food and your servers how to properly treat customers to ensure a positive experience. read more

My husband and I like to try local restaurants on our days off, and we were looking for a breakfast place close to home. We're so glad we found Scramblers! We love that the assign the tables to you (their tables are numbered). They have a spacious patio area for pets, too! Service was great, staff were friendly. The food came out pretty fast. We ordered the Loco Moco with chicken katsu. Perfect crunch, sauce was not overwhelming, and the portion is perfect to share with two people. We also tried their Ube coconut pancakes which were light and fluffy, not overly sweet! Chef's kiss! Try them out, guys! We surely will go back to try their other food on the menu. read more

Unfortunately, me & my family did not enjoy this place as much as we wanted to. The overall ambience is nice and welcoming but the food didn't taste as great. We got the loco moco with spam, that was a 6 out of 10. We also got the island chilaquiles with pork and those were 4 out of 10. My daughter said her kids meal was a 10 out of 10 as she got a pancake, 1 piece of spam and scrambled eggs. The Hawaiian coffee tastes like syrup, it wasn't very tasty. read more

Hands down the best Hawaii brunch/lunch spot on the IE border. We got their loco moco and it brings back memories to when I was in Oahu years ago. Their juices were also good, fresh, cool, and sweet. I'm not an ube person, but my GF loved the ube pancakes. Visually, it looks super delicious because of the purple color. There are so many more options to try out. We will be back for sure to try their Katsu, and one of their other local favorite combos! read more

Moco Loco order and waffle was a big disappointment, sad to say. Hamburger patty tasted like it was a frozen patty with no flavor, gravy was just mediyoker and first waffle under cooked and second one came burnt. went to scramblers cafe at random just try it out. they had a line out there but was served relatively fast! everyone was very sweet and organized, and our food came in right on time. the food itself was a blast of flavors i will never forget. i forget the name of my plate but i had the chicken katsu with gravy and a fried egg over a bed of fried rice. it was so freaking delicious i couldn't get enough of it, even after i was incredibly full. all the items were incredibly delicious! i tried their mixed juice and was not disappointed. i definitely am aching to go back to try more plates and their coffee menu. they had some intriguing items that i just know taste incredible. read more

3.5 stars We're so glad they opened a second location because the Norco one was just too small. First impression was not bad. The interior was spacious and inviting. They have a few booths along one side and then the rest are standalone tables. You order and pay right when you enter and they bring the food to you. They seem to be busy with many people working but the communication could be better. We had to flag someone down a couple times to get a high chair to our table. We ordered three coffees and they completely forgot. We only noticed when we were halfway through eating. Like the other location, they are known for delicious Hawaiian/Filipino inspired breakfast entrees. I got the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs. The pancakes were soft and thin with blueberry mixed in the batter. Our party also enjoyed the triple two and vegetable omelet. Both were well made. We just came back from Hawaii over the holiday break and really missed the islands (especially the food). I came here with my son for a mommy/son date and we were pleasantly surprised. I found a piece of gum stuck to the side of my plate, and instead of apologizing, the owner came over and implied it was mine--claiming no one in the kitchen chews gum. A simple "sorry" would have gone a long way, but instead I was blamed. Disappointing and unprofessional. If you plan on eating here, check your plate carefully first... you never know what "extra" you might find. Feedback to Lily: I'm not the type of person who asks for comps, so I wasn't sure what you expected when you asked what I wanted. I wanted clean food -- duh. Policies look great on paper, but my plate still came with a side of pre-chewed gum. I even touched it thinking it was dried-up whipped cream. Maybe add a real double-check to your triple-check so gum doesn't magically crawl onto plates. read more

Came here the day before Thanksgiving. It wasn't crowded at all. We ordered our food at the counter and sat down. Place was clean staff was friendly. I feel like my rating stems from going to Hawaii so often and ordering loco moco out there then realizing the loco moco in Hawaii versus this loco moco is a big disappointment. It lacked in flavor and portion. Also got the island chilaquiles which also lacked in flavor. The best thing we had were the ube pancakes, would definitely get those again. Loco Moco was very good. Everything appeared to be made fresh. They have a covered patio and inside seating as well.

We have gone to their other location many times and were happy to see this on show up since it's closer. The food is always good. Like the pancakes and loco moco. the ube pancakes here are the best i've ever had in my life. i've had them at multiple spots and have had nothing like the ones here. they're huge, and covered in this ube sauce and comes with the best coconut cream. SO moist and no dryness at all (big pancake factor) and buttery as well! not too sweet which is also really important. i also got chiliaquiles with steak which were good, but the steak meat quality was just slightly bit off. but the flavor of the salsa verse was nice. once again those ube pancakes are a must try! read more

Good food and portions ok but not to good service, you make a line to pay and order if you want to order something else you have to back to the cashier and pay plus the cashier guy scratching his face and taking orders and serving food no way and a family behind me, their kid trow the water and no body came to clean it. Great spot for Hawaiian eats!!! This is the second location for this business. The interior decor is nice with a mix of artwork and text with light colors. Let's get down to the important stuff the food or grinds if you will. There's so many choices but my Mother-in-Law had their club sandwich, my wife had the kalua pork scrambled eggs and I had their loco moco. All three servings were really big portions so bring your appetite when you come here. The club sandwich was great because the toast on the bread was nice and not overdone the turkey was nice and moist. The kalua pork scramble was excellent. You don't lose the taste of the kalua pork within the scrambled eggs. My wife added the fried rice which was also excellent. It didn't taste overly soy sauced and oily. I had the loco moco and it was perfect. The eggs were cooked exactly how I liked my sunny side up. It wasn't runny but the yolk was. There was only one patty but it was big enough and it perfectly seasoned. The gravy was made to order and everything went great together. Now, my order took a little longer than the other two orders. Service was above and beyond so this place knows how to take care of their customers. Our waitress came by often to ask if we needed anything else, but something else happened that makes their customer service above and beyond. So my order was taking longer than the others. It didn't take them very long to come over to our table and let me know that there was something wrong with the gravy and they had to remake it. She had a plate of chicken katsu ready for the table while I waited for them to remake the gravy and serve me my order. The fact that I didn't have to ask our server where my order was and they had something ready while I had to wait a little longer makes their service top notch. The lady that came over was the partner of the owner. So hats off to Lily (owner) and Ovita (partner). I definitely highly recommend this spot and looking forward to coming back to try the rest of the menu. read more

This review has been a long time coming! We used to visit the one in Norco but we are so thankful that there is one closer to us now! After church, every Sunday, you know where to find us. Both restaurants are consistent in their food. They never disappoint! Service is always wonderful. Everyone is friendly and professional. Both restaurants are always clean and welcoming! I've visited Scramblers three times, and each time it's been to celebrate with friends that are first time visitors. I love it and they've loved it! It's not cheap but the portions, flavor, variety, and constant check ins make it worth it! Their savory foods such as cowboy chilaquiles, loco moco, Kailua pork omelette, or Hawaiian beef eggs are delicious! If you have a sweet tooth, you must try their banana, macadamia, vanilla pancakes-they're so large that you can share them between three friends. They also have a variety of cold coffees and serve regular refillable coffee with a variety of creamers. The staff check in on you regularly and fill up your coffee cup with a smile.
