Very happy to have found a place nearby with such amazing vegan eats. Getting into the...meat of the review I will say that overall the experience was good and the food was amazing. The beet burger and fries are pretty much what you expect, no more or less and hits that sandwich craving. The loaded nachos are fairly hefty, and as a flexitarian the jackfruit they add does an above-average job of imitating shredded pork or chicken. As you can see by the attached picture, the heavy guac is much appreciated. The star of the show for us, though, had to be the pesto dish. Perfect al dente penne with a savory additions to an already solid pesto. Highly recommended. Given the location and ingredients, the prices are obviously going to be a bit higher than nearby alternatives, though nothing unexpected. And lastly, the service was...alright. There was a middle-aged gentleman who may have been the owner who walked around and was quite kind to everyone dining. However, there were a few staff when checking-in who kept giving us a bit of a cold-shoulder and standoffish at first. Went in during the afternoon and only a few people were there, so we were able to get a seat fast. Sat outdoors, a nice area with trees and shade. Server gave us a free salad for some reason, but it was very good and had tofu cubes in it which I really liked. We ordered the K bowl, the nachos, and the burger. Portions were huge, but all of the food was very salty for us. The K bowl was nice and spicy and the kimchi was very sour. The nachos were again, very salty but had a nice crunch. I just ate here again today, ten years and two days since my last review. I was a customer back in the food truck days and all the way through until now. All of that time, Seabirds has been wonderful! I like the look and feel of the shopping area and Seabirds itself. It is very relaxing. The service is always great, The restaurant is always clean. Everything is always perfect. I used to be addicted to the Beer Battered Avocado Tacos, which are great, but as of late I seem to order the Rigatoni Pesto. Banana Bread is a nice desert! The daily specials looked intriguing- I was there on a Thursday and it was a loaded fries special. I'm a sucker for a crunch wrap and the So Cal wrap easily cleared my high expectations. I heard the server talking about a Reuben sandwich, which gives you a sense of the menu's variety; they put definite thought and creativity into what they offer. Seabirds has a sterling reputation as delicious vegan food, and now that I've finally gotten to try it, I can say it's a deserved reputation! I tried the deep fried avocado tacos and the macaroni and cheese. The tacos were delicious and a generous portion size. I have never in my life had a vegan mac and cheese that I didn't spit out, but this one was actually delicious! Finally I had a Fig and Vanilla iced tea. Seabirds is my favorite restaurant. The food here is outstanding. For our 47 anniversary lunch we had the roasted cauliflower, the So Cal wrap and for dessert the grilled banana bread with homemade ice cream and caramel. We started with the purple taquitos with guac and jalapeño. My fiancé got the chilaquiles Rojas and I got the chipotle Florentine. The beet burger was horrible, left this oily taste in my mouth and stuck to the roof of my mouth; it came with an onion and pickles and nothing else. There are sooooo many variations of a veggie or vegan burger; it can be based on tempeh or beans or quinoa or mushrooms.... Something to make the patty hearty and big enough to actually satiate you. In terms of bread, so boring so plain. The nachos had great toppings for a few bites, then it was literally endless dry chips. Also, not enough salsa or sauce. My family was so impressed with Seabirds! We are all vegan and we've been to a lot of vegan restaurants; everything we ordered at Seabirds was amazing. My favorite was the Warm Cauliflower Salad - there were so many levels of flavor in this dish. The tofu was amazing, and the dressing was equally delicious. My daughter ordered the Bibimbap Bowl which has fried kimchi in it and she absolutely loved it. My other daughter got the Breakfast Burrito and she thought everything in it was delicious. My son ordered the Biscuit Bomb and he was concerned it wouldn't be filling but he loved it and said it was plenty of food. We all shared the Chaffle for dessert and omg it was one of the best vegan desserts I've ever had! Side kale salad was a bonus gem. Small feedback, larger shells or add another stuffed shell. Purple Taquitos a unique take on taquitos that worked perfectly! Nothing else was needed. I love seeing more nuts used as dairy substitutes such as cashews and walnuts. We ordered the Mac & cheese, all three tacos: Battered avocado/ Al pastor jackfruit/ Grilled mushrooms, and stuffed shells that came with kale Caesar salad. Everything was so good like you wouldn't think it was vegan definitely a 10/10! The Mac and cheese was so creamy. While the avo taco tasted just like a fish taco and the seasoning for the mushroom and jackfruit were so spot on! The stuffed shells definitely stuffed me up - it was such a warm and hearty meal. I also enjoyed the kale salad it came with as it was so crunchy and full of texture. I am not vegetarian and I love this place. The food is flavorful and amazing. I don't enjoy when vegan places that try to make their food look like meat. This restaurant does not do that at all. The ingredients are super fresh and simple. I love sitting in their beautiful patio especially when it's sunny . The low point is probably the service because they seem to be understaffed. I mostly feel bad when I see one person running around trying to take care of everyone by themselves. This is the place to go for an all vegan menu. I'm not vegan, but I have vegan friends and it's hard to find places to go where we both enjoy the food. A typical restaurant will usually have a few awful vegan choices and most vegan places will have the fake meat stuff which isn't good. Seabirds offers good food in general, and it happens to be vegan. My two favorite dishes are the avocado tacos and biscuit sandwich. Full of flavor. Though while it's really good food, this is a not a healthy meal. Things a generally deep fried or filled with high levels of sodium. Parking is terrible. read more
