The restaurant is located on the second floor, with large windows overlooking the shopping plaza. Food: Their menu includes plenty of traditional dim sum choices served using traditional cart service, as well as being brought by servers direct from the kitchen. There was even an employee coming by with a cart for smoothie-type drinks. Taste of the food items was solid and as expected. Portion sizes were sufficient for hungry teenagers. Service: The wait on the weekend was very long - almost a full hour during lunchtime. But once you're sat, the servers were fast and friendly, furiously stamping our order sheet and delivering the dum sum in quick succession. Ambiance: A loud hum was evident, but not too loud where you couldn't easily chat with your own table party. Well lit, clean, and spacious aisles between the tables. Overall Value: Price was steep for dim sum, especially since I'm accustomed to the numerous and competitively-priced dim sum restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. I rather have the leaves, not the bags. They kept coming by asking if we needed anything. It was kind of shocking for this type of restaurant, where we are not used to this level of service. Ongoing quest for good dim sum brought me here on a busy Saturday morning. I was hoping for excellent food but found most of the offerings underwhelming, plus some sticker shock at the end of the meal. Did not expect to pay close to $200 for what is essentially street food elsewhere in the world. Spacious area on second floor, elevator service available. Those elevators have seen better days: peeling floors and metal grinding sounds. Orders came out fast, maybe a tad too fast because I felt like the steam on the buns was undercooked so the bread was extra unpleasant mouth feel, same as the custard tarts which I usually can eat three in one sitting - did not even finish the one tart I got. We got sauteed pea shoots which was just fine, altho a bit oily. The shrimp with walnuts here is thickly battered and covered in an orange sweet sauce type. Something different is the almond milk tea that comes covered in a puff pastry. It wasn't anything special: the warm almond milk was just very MEH. As with many things nowadays, rice and tea are now charged rather than complementary. Service is quick, water refills frequently done and also someone came to check that things were in order several times. Wow the staff and vibes continue to amaze me whenever I come back after a while. Our party was very grateful for the friendly, attentive service (something uncommon in many Asian establishments) and the generous portion of every dish we had. What was also nice was that the room felt more spacious and less cramped than before. Not only is the service great, but the food still tastes deliciously balanced and satisfying. For example, the orange chicken wasn't too sugary and actually had a noticeable citrusy flavor, and the deep fried salt and pepper squid wasn't salty or greasy. We got the sizzling beef again, and those juicy flavorful meat cubes have gotta be one of my favorite dishes here. Fried rice actually looked fried but wasn't just oily pieces of rice with some mix-ins; it had many chunks of different proteins and a decent amount of veggies scattered throughout. Parking on a Friday night for dinnertime was surprisingly not packed!? I'm thinking of doing fam gatherings here more often haha. So be prepared to look for parking for awhile. Our bill came out to $112 so not bad at all, with Vietnamese drinks and Thai tea along with ordering Dim Sum. By 11am on the dot they serve other plates such as Soy Sauce Chow Mein and the shrimps/meat entrees just so you are aware. By 10:30am is when there was a huge line, and it was crowded. The cuttlefish/jellyfish in the app had too much vinegar and had astringent taste. The beef (bo luc lac) was the tastiest dish. Everything was mostly "meh." Not bad tasting but also not worth coming back for. Lobster is very, very disappointing. As for dim sum, It can satisfy the dim sum craving but the wait is also not worth it for more than 15min. It's been a while since I've been to SFC #2, and it really feels like they haven't changed in their food quality. Interior wise, they've definitely gone through a lot of updates. The chairs and decor feels a bit more like modern Chinese, but still with some tradition. I was sad to see that there are no more dim sum carts, but it's probably better for not wasting food anyways. My friend and I got a few different items to share: (2) shrimp rice rolls, (2) xiao long bao, (2) shu mai, (2) shrimp har gow, and (1) fried shrimp wonton. Our bill came out to about $60, which is pretty affordable for that amount of food. My favorite item here will always be their XLB! Dined here with my boyfriend's family earlier today and the food quality was better than average for sure. On a weekend, we had to wait approximately 30 - 40 minutes to be seated for lunch. What an interesting experience here. We came on a Saturday for brunch and it was pretty packed. Our party of 8 waited ~20min to be seated - not too bad! When we sat down, it was chaos. Menus were flying around before all of us had a chance to sit. Three wait staff were chatting to different people at the table. Our order paper was stamped, and within a few minutes, dishes materialized in front of us. They also had carts going around for drinks and a la carte orders, and some people were walking around offering their almond milk dish. 15min later, we still didn't have waters at the table. We followed up with them again. No water for another 5min. Someone at our table got up and flagged someone, and then a strawberry smoothie came out, but no waters for yet another 5min. Does it really take that long to bring out waters? Apparently. Service was mediocre at best. Just what we expected. As for the food - most of it was pretty tasty. They had the usuals - shumai, har gow, mustard greens, shrimp balls, noodles, etc. We also tried their wrapped donut, which was okay. Because it was wrapped, it was just chewy texture, no crunch.
