Had the Bo Kho, Bronzini, a pad see ew and Pedro made me an amazing matcha bubble tea to wrap it all up. I'm not really familiar with Thai/Vietnamese cuisine although if it tastes good I eat it, and tasty it was. I had to put a few stars for this review because the owners are very nice people. Sat with an empty plate in front of me for over 30 minutes. Funny thing is they only allow you a certain time limit at your table which is ironic. A scarce amount of customers in the restaurant and their excuse was they were short staffed. Waiter was sweating profusely and obviously disoriented and said that he thought we were still eating. Spoke to manager Michael and heard him utter under his breath that I totally exaggerated the situation. Pro: 1- very very clean 2- very pleasant and professional staff, checking on you, asking if you like the food, if they can do anything for you. 3- food is well prepared, the Pho was top notch, the summer rolls was excellent, particularly the sauce which makes the difference. 4- the Vietnamese sandwich was well prepared. 5- great view of Hudson River. I've eaten here twice - once when it first opened and then today to give it a second chance. I regret my decision. Their pad Thai and drunken noodles were just no, not like authentic Thai food. It was just bland and didn't even taste like the normal seasoning. Today, we ordered their heritage pork and sesame beef bahn mi and the pork was just fatty, both sandwiches lacked severely in veggies, the baguettes were oily, left a weird almost freezer burn taste in my mouth --and oh, they gave us chicken instead of beef The only good thing about this restaurant is the ambiance. I am writing this awful review, not for the food but of the manager Joanna. I went to the restaurant in the afternoon (it was empty) with my 3 year old who was starving and I was meeting a friend who drove 1 hour to meet here to eat. I have been to this restaurant many time with friends and have never had a problem. This time was different. I sat down initially with my daughter who is only 3 year old, the waiter saw I had chicken nuggets for my daughter since she cannot eat spicy food or have peanuts and we were served water as we waited for my friend. After 5 minutes the Manager Joanna RUDELY without any care for my child asked us to leave at once. They do not allow outside food. Ok well they also do not have a kids menu (NO KIDS MENU NOT KID FRIENDLY). Honestly, I was really disgusted by her and her attitude. She clearly is not a mother and lost out on a good check too. We dined elsewhere that afteroon and spent a pretty penny. I will say I have never felt discriminated against for being with my child out to eat before and this time I was. I will NEVER return. I will tell all of my local Edgewater, Cliffside Park and Fort Lee Friends to never dine Here. Hi So Thai in Weehawken is SOOOO much better anyway or River Thai. Their food used to be delicious. I've tried many thai/viet places around here and this place definitely topped them all. However just today when I came to eat dinner, another busy friday (no busier than usual), they had horrendous service and the food was luke warm. They have enough servers attending the floor so it was truly unfathomable no one could come to give us the vegetables (that are SUPPOSED to be served with the pho). The noodles in the pho looked like they just came out of the plastic packet (noodles were stuck together in the luke warm soup). The padkeemao was extremely bland and chicken was cold. Amazing spot in Edgewater, NJ. My girlfriend and I came here coming from Upstate New York. I saw a ton of great reviews for this place and my girlfriend being a huge fan of Viet food and me liking Thai food, I figured this would be a great in between. Seak is fairly modest and has that 'family vibe' attached to it. You are greeted immediately by a friendly staff. Every person who works here is extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about their menu and offer personalized suggestions. I started off with the Tom Yum soup, which had a fairly authentic chili base and two fresh jumbo shrimp. I then ordered the Kao Pad, which ha a flavorful heat and a heaping portion! My girlfriend ordered the Beef Pho, which she loved (she's a huge critic when it comes to Pho, and it passed her test). We also ordered the iced cafe saigon and fresh limeaid, both were crafted well and tasted amazing! Stopped by here for dinner after a lovely spa trip and was overly excited as Thai and Viet are among my favorite dishes - especially being a chili head! The Good: Best service. Period. Everyone from the door to the table and back were an absolute pleasure. The Bad: None of the food was good. We had the grilled chicken Pho and a Red Curry with Chicken entree. We also had shrimp rolls to start us off and none of it was any good at all. The flavors are a complete miss and both entrees lacked any vegetables. The soup tasted caned with just noodles and chicken, but the biggest disappointment was the red curry. I will not be returning, but I really hope this place gets better. Imagine eating chicken swimming in coconut milk... yea... that's the red curry chicken. The bamboo shoot, peppers, and chili are no where to be found. Food was good, but in the end it was the little things: Spring rolls came with a sauce that didn't make it on the plate, and we didn't get until they were all eaten. After ordering we wanted to move to the outdoor patio section and we were told by our waiter we can't because the order had already been placed (pretty simple request in the hospitality industry.) Our caraf of water sat at the edge of our table waiting to be refilled for a solid 15 minutes, and when our waiter came by to check on us he walked away and I had to stop him and ask for more. Obviously not the end of the world, but like I said it was little things, especially when the place was basically empty and we were surrounded by staff. Garlic chicken wings were great, the soft shell crab Banh Mi was massive, and the prices were good. We will go back, but hoping that the service improves. read more

SEAK is wonderful restaurant located in a plaza in Edgewater. I've always wanted to try SEAK, so my friend and I decided to try it out today. It was pretty annoying though finding parking when they have such a big parking lot. It gets full so fast because a lot of other businesses are in the plaza center such as Kuppi Coffee Company. Walking into SEAK, the decor of the restaurant looks great. They have a counter top seating as soon as you walk in. The rest of the restaurant has dim lighting which makes the ambiance pretty intimate. My friend and I decided to go to the outdoor seating because who doesn't want to sit outside with amazing views of the river and city? They have tables with umbrellas and ones without, so if you get annoyed by the sun, I suggest you request to get the table with the umbrella. I'd like to point out that service here is fantastic. Our waiter (Ryan, I believe) was great. He offered to talk about recommendations on the menu and was extremely knowledgeable about all the items. He frequently checked on us about our meal. Not only was our waiter attentive, but other waiters and employees as well. We were always asked if everything was okay and if we needed anything. They really care about customer satisfaction which is wonderful. My friend and I ordered the Vietnamese Spring Rolls. A little disappointed by that first because there's only 2 spring rolls and it costs $8. Second, the "regular" spring rolls comes with chicken and shrimp. Something was a little off about mixing the two together. My friend ordered the Bahn Mi Frites which she seemed to enjoy. For the entree, I ordered Pad Kee Mao with tofu. For $14, I was hoping for a little more. Honestly, it was good, but other Pad Kee mao's I've tried always had a signature spiciness to it, but this one didn't. So it lacked a bit of flavor. Let me tell you though, they put a lot of protein in it. The pieces of tofu in the dish were huge. I was expecting small pieces. If I had known, I would've went for beef which would have been $15. Still tasted good though. With our meals, we also ordered bubble tea. I went with the mango bubble tea which had a great flavor. It wasn't too sweet which I enjoyed. Tapioca pearls were a little hard to chew on, but it's nothing too major. All in all, prices are a bit high, but that's to be expected in Edgewater and especially in a restaurant with a view. Food was pretty good, but not amazing. You're coming here for the amazing customer service, ambiance, and views of the city from a waterfront. I hope to try other items from their menu though because there are other dishes that I might enjoy more. read more

We stopped in for Pho, not expecting much when we walked into the strip mall. But was pleasantly surprised at the menu, location, and food. This restaurant offered outdoor seating where you can see the water and NYC. As there was a waitlist for outdoor, we opted for inside seating. It's huge inside with high exposed ceilings, casual dining and BYOB! We had Pho and Special Bun, the ingredients were fresh and it tasty very good. We chose where we wanted to sit. The view of NYC is spectacular. Great start. We ordered a few small plates with Walter. Then our main dishes. One of the small Plates took a little longer than the staff here at the restaurant thought it should have taken and the assistant manager Michelle swung by to apologize (we didn't think there was an issue) and proceeded to offer complimentary dessert. The food was ok. I got Drunken Noodles, Wings, Banh Mi and Traditional Banh Xeo. Almost everywhere I've eaten Drunken Noodles, the noodles are spicy but these weren't spicy at all. The wings were way too deep fried and I hoped to have more sauce on the wings. The Traditional Banh Xeo wasn't good, it was a crepe and the egg almost looked watery inside. The Banh Mi was the only thing I enjoyed. It's a sandwhich, you cant mess that up. However the view was nice and the manager was really nice. Each item was unique in flavors and presentation. Caitlynn was so accommodating to a few in our party with dietary restrictions. She took the time to help put together meals that worked for them. Seak is pretty darn good. I'm usually not a fan of modern Asian food being a have a full Asian background so I am critical with new places like this. This place is authentic and ambience is a nice cool modern vibe. The place is also BYOB. I had the Seak Pho and it was delicious! We also ordered the filet minon beef cubes and the steak melts in your mouth! Definatley will be in my weekly rotation of restaurants and so so so happy there is a pho option in the area!!!! read more

Went here on a Saturday afternoon after movie. It was past 2pm so there was no wait time. Got seated outside by the Hudson River which had pretty great view! We ordered the Singaporean rice noodles with chicken and the yellow curry with beef. Both are pretty decent for the price and the service is fantastic. UPDATE: Had to revise my review of this restaurant after today's bad experience with service and food. Went to pick up my take out order. Hostess directed me to the bar to pick up my food. Stood where the take out food was on the bar (bagged). Was completely ignored even though it was not busy and people are chit chatting behind the bar and see me waiting. Had to go over to middle of the bar and specifically ask for someone about my order. Paid, the barista handed me my bag. Go home and the dessert was missing. And the food was terrible today. The bread was dry and hard for both sandwiches. There was hardly any pickled veggies in my Bahn Mi Saigon. Completely different sandwich experience than the last time I ordered. Night and day. And the chicken pad Thai was tasteless and dry. What a disappointment. Previous review: Ordered take out from Seak today and it was good. Their Bahn Mi sandwiches were tasty but bread could be a little crispier. Also got a black sesame bubble tea and avocado smoothie. Both were yummy. A lot of avocado - it was very filling. The papaya salad had more lettuce in it then anything else. Very small amounts of papaya, The papaya that was there was also cut too thick, and a bit limp, not the crisp that they should have been. Flavor was lackluster. The shrimp summer rolls - looked like they just had some vermacelli noodles lettuce and "bbq" shrimp ? It was a bit wierd.we were expecting some Thai basil and maybe some sprouts or something. The peanut sauce was also very bland. The combination of western bbq shrimp with lack of authentic flavors just made this a bit disappointing for us. The eggplant and chicken - wheres my rice ? Dish came with no rice. We ordered take out so we can eat, not cook. Ended up spending another 20 minutes at home making some noodles to mix in with the dish, because were not waiting 40 minutes to cook rice. My wife and I frequently dine here... when I say frequently dine here it's like 2-3 times a week! HA! We either eat in or order take out. The food there is excellent! I think I've had almost everything on their menu and everything was great! My wife is a vegetarian and there are a lot of choices for her! This spot is a hidden gem in the Trader Joe's shopping center. Their menu of Southeast Asian fusion is extensive but I've been especially loving their Vietnamese and Thai options. Vietnamese is nearly impossible to find in our area and the banh mi's and the pho are outstanding! They use quality ingredients and the flavors are complex, each carrying its weight in their respective dishes. I'm not vegan or gluten-free but I appreciate having clear options on the menu since that's also something rare in surrounding restaurants.
