Device and food were great. Had the dynamite and aloha rolls and probably ordered too much but O couldn't stop eating them as they were both soooo good. The take-out service seemed to be quite busy with about half the place full on a Saturday night. Could be a nice place for a romantic dinner or a meetup for a small group. Referred by a work colleague. Delicious! It was a Monday evening and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was also attentive and gave a great recommendation that we ended up ordering: the deluxe plate. It was just the two of us so we split that (customized to chicken katsu; it also comes with various tempura, rice, gyoza, nigiri, cali roll, and applicable sauces). In addition we shared the veggie spring rolls and miso soups. The inside of the restaurant is decorated well but not too over the top. You can also sit (bar-style seating) in front of the chefs, if you want. Bathrooms were gendered but well kept. Can't wait to go back and try the curry katsu (my favorite from when I was last in Japan) and their bibimbap. I wish my office was in the area as they have a great deal for lunch specials. read more

I've been a regular at Sekai Sushi and it never disappoints. The prices are quite reasonable, especially given the current market, yet the quality of food remains exceptional. They consistently ensure the fish is of the highest quality and their unique marinades for each type of fish add a special touch. Additionally, their chicken dishes are outstanding; the meat is tender and not at all chewy. I highly recommend trying it. Moreover, if you have the opportunity to sit at the sushi bar, you'll find the chefs are not only friendly but also very knowledgeable about fish and their dishes. Went here and my husband ordered the BBQ ribs. Asked to change the rice to fried rice. Was told there was an up charge for it. Normally that would be $3-$5 but no he was charged $8.95 for chicken friend rice (no meat). When asked about it he was told it was cause they make it fresh. If you are wanting to change the white rice to fried rice make sure you ask the charge beforehand. read more

This place most definitely deserves a 5/5. Came during lunch time, Upon walking in we were greeted right away! The bill wasn't too much, $30 for two people to eat. They use quality ingredients here and you can most definitely taste it as I got the bento box which during lunch time is $9! read more

The vibes in this place were awesome, such a unique set up reminded of actually being in Japan and nice artwork on the walls as well! Service was very attentive and awesome! Not a huge sushi person but the sushi was fire. Gyoza was nice and crispy. Mainly came here for the tonkostsu ramen and it wasn't my favorite sadly. Broth was lacking flavor, egg was whatever, meat was also whatever but there was a lot of it. But surprisingly the noodles were fire! They were extremely firm but still had a nice chew to it. We came back after a 3 year absence from the valley. This the same quality sushi place. The lunch special changed a little. Before it was a 3 roll spicial, now it is a 2 roll special. I ordered the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls. They were just as I remembered. I thought the miso was better though. This place can never go away. My son and I went to get sushi for his birthday. We searched Yelp and decided to try Sekai Sushi in Mesa -it was delicious! We ordered many different rolls and some cold sake. This is another spot that I pretty much visit or order from maybe once a week or so. I am a huge fan of their sushi as it always taste incredibly fresh and authentic. Their entrée items are also equally as delicious. I highly recommend their Katsu plates. It's also a very cute establishment as well. Overall the service I have received there is always great. The only downside is that they tend to get very busy because they are very popular, so at times on the weekend the wait can be pretty excessive. I might recommend calling before you take a group out to there, just to be sure that they aren't too swamped. read more

Was brought here by my sister in law yesterday because she said their happy hour is unbeatable and their sushi is good. I 100% agree with her. I ordered spicy cali roll, spicy tuna roll and gyozas. I came here for lunch with my boyfriend. There was only one other party in the entire restaurant and we opted to sit at the sushi bar. The waitress was pretty good about making sure we got water immediately and taking our order. The only reason why I rated this place a 3/5 is for the following reasons: 1) Sushi cuts for the nigiri were sloppier than I've had at other establishments. 2) Although he apologized and was quick to make us the remainder of our order, we only received our nigiri after we said something to the sushi chef. We ordered the nigiri lunch special that comes with 7 nigiri and a roll. We got our roll and additional order of sashimi pretty quick but it took about 15-20 minutes after we finished eating for the chef to notice we hadn't gotten our nigiri and the waitress didn't check to see that we got it either. This is one of the Sushi places we go the most, apparently Yelp knows I go here a lot and suggested I add a review! The first time we ever went here, we got an I love salmon roll, at least that's what I think it's called, and it has extremely thinned sliced lemons on top of the roll with the rind left on it. It was so perfectly and thinly sliced, you could pop the whole piece in your mouth and the lemon complimented the salmon so well. It's one of my favorite rolls anywhere! Unfortunately, everytime I get it now, the lemons aren't cut nearly as thin and it makes it difficult to pop the whole thing into your mouth and enjoy it with the lemon, instead now I find myself taking the lemon off, eating the roll and then biting off the lemon from the rind. It's still an amazing roll no matter what, I wish more people had a roll like this, but it is kind a bummer it's prepared a little different now. Almost everytime we come in we have great service and food. Only once have we had "bad" service and being as I've worked in restaurants industries most of my work life, I can understand this lady was new, and she was very flustered. She didn't do a good job serving us, we found ourselves having to get up and ask for things we asked her for, but I don't hold that against her or the restaurant because she was learning. I love that there aren't too many tvs in the restaurant, I personally don't like when there are TVs all around, especially in sushi places, idk why but I feel it takes away from the experience. The music they always place is calm and relaxing but not the typical spa like / oriental influenced calm music in sushi places, they kinda place like... old fashioned jazz a lot. One of my favorite Thai spots. I come here 2 times a month. The happy hour has a LOT of great items to try, including a couple premium rolls and sashimi. I love their salmon sashimi! In fact I was not interesting in raw fish at all until I brought my friend her one day an he convinced me to try it. I was sold on the salmon. It took me a few more months to work up the courage to try it again, but I loved it! Josh the owner an his workers and very nice and friendly. They are a great group of people. Give this place a try! Everyone I have taken here loves and raves about it. The salmon dynamite (mild spicyness) , scallop dynamite, Vegas, shrimp tempura and Super Tiger rolls are all great! The Baked Salmon roll is really nice. I did not like the Philly roll. The only complaint I have is that lately the the Vegas roll comes out room temp, even slightly cold. A few time I had it and the tempura coating was soft and squishy, not crunchy at all... Like it was premade and refrigerated. It wasn't like this in 2018 so I don't know what happened. It only tastes good when its made-to-order, hot and freshly fried. I hope they go back to making them fresh. The complimentary miso soup is hit or miss. Sometimes is delicious and rich, with the flavor of green onion coming through nicely. Other times its watery and bland. I subtracted 1 star for the change in quality of the Vegas rolls, inconsistent miso soup and constantly changing wait staff. Maybe it's hard to keep people in Mesa, but I've seen at least 6 different people in and out as servers over the past 1 year. Sushi was delicious. I order the salmon sashimi. The hubby got the Crazy dynamite roll and we shared the I love salmon roll. The service was very accommodating to our 20 month old. The server came back with a big bowl for miso soup with rice and more tofu. My son usually loves miso soup but he barely ate it. I tasted it and it take super fishy and thick I couldn't stomach it (sorry for the exaggeration but it didn't taste at all). Well after reading the reviews I decided to check out this new to me sushi joint. I am a hard judge on sushi as I am from Seattle and have eaten a lot of fresh and amazing rolls. With that said on to the review. I just thought this place was eh. I started with the usual pot-stickers which were totally pre-frozen like I can get at the store and make at home. -1 star Next I got my Miso soup it was typical miso so nothing to cheer or talk bad about. Finally my two rolls came out. I ordered both off the special rolls list. First was the Dec. 29th roll. I asked about why it was called that and my waitress seemed like I was the first to ever ask that and had no answer other than that's what it's always been called. -1 star. It was ok decent flavor and decent presentation lots of rice. Last roll comes out and it's my baked CH3. I learned why the 3 was in the name there were only 3 pieces for $8.95. I was a bit disappointed then I took a bite. It totally made up for it the baked Halibut and crab and avocado exploded goodness in my mouth and I was happy this was my finale. So overall it's not bad but totally not in my top 5 best sushi places in Phoenix and surrounding areas. If your close stop in try the CH3 roll and you will probably leave happy. read more

Yum! We last-minute decided on this place to eat tonight as it's super close to us and we are so glad we did! We went around 8:30 for their happy hour deals. They started us out with some miso soup- a nice surprise- which was one of the better ones we've had . We got a shrimp tempura roll, las vegas roll and our favorite, the salmon dynamite roll. Went with family last night for dinner. We were surprised they were so busy being Xmas Eve and all. The place was packed, but adhering to social distancing rules. I thought they did a reasonably good job getting us our dinners in a timely manner, but I think the crowd threw them off their game a bit. A few other tables were complaining about orders being wrong or not getting things they ordered. We got everything we ordered and in a reasonable amount of time, but some things were a little "off". Our soups were lukewarm; very lukewarm. My theory is that the bowls of soup are all poured en mass, and the waitresses pick them up and deliver them to the tables as people order their meals. The problem here is that the bowls of soup probably were standing for a long time and getting cold. Next we all order the combo meals. Those are served on wooden, sectionalized trays. All of our rice was dry and crunchy. That means the rice was put on the trays, again en mass, while the trays are awaiting the other things to be added. Our tempura, our tonkatsu, and our teriyaki was all hot and properly prepared. But the rice was seemingly bad, and not soft and steaming. All-in-all, it was an OK meal and I believe it would have been much better if they were not so busy and swamped. read more

We ordered a whole bunch of rolls to share (spicy tuna roll, Sekai roll, Viva Vegas roll, cucumber rolls , etc) and they were all very good. I also ordered the spicy miso ramen which I thought had really good flavor. My criticism of the ramen is that my egg arrived totally hard boiled and there a quite a bit of cabbage in the soup and not a whole lot else. The flavor was good though.
