I can't believe I haven't reviewed Senro yet! Since moving to South San Jose this quickly became my close to the house go-to sushi place. My favorite item to order at all sushi places is The Lion King roll, it is the first thing I look for when I scan a menu and this place does not disappoint! There are places that don't have it on their menu and I automatically can't trust them when I don't see it. Ha! Besides the Lion King roll, they have a wonderfully delicious unique role called the Walnut Prawn roll. Since honey walnut prawns are one of my favorite dishes in Chinese restaurants this was a great find and it is so good! I was pretty stoked to see a roll made out of that dish. I also highly recommend the Crunchy Roll. They must put crunchy crack on top, it's so good. Other favorite items I love: Salmon Donburi, Salmon Teriyaki , Beef Yaki Soba Stir Fried Noodles, and the amazing Fried Rice Baked Salmon with House Special Sauce. It's pretty epic and you should definitely check it out If you like salmon like I do. (You couldn't tell at all, right?) They also package their to-go food well and I love that they cut a little hole in the corner of the container for tempura so it stays crunchy and doesn't get soggy from the condensation. Met with my girlfriend for dinner here and must admit I was pretty impressed with the sushi, and dinner items we ordered. From oysters, to hamachi, to sashimi, to sushi rolls, and all the way to bento boxes -- this sushi spot has something for everyone. I would suggest going on weekdays for lunch or dinner as nights and weekends generally get pretty crowded. They have fresh wasabi and the assorted chilli powder so just ask if you're in the mood for a kick in your meal. There is also a full bar that offers wine, cocktails, spirits, and beer. My favorite roll: 49ers!! I love the salmon and lemon slice combination! I think this type of roll was done the best here compared to other locations! I loved the spiderman as well, it was so crunchy and fun to eat! I was cautious about coming here at first, but we received our rolls pretty fast and we didn't experience any bad service past reviewers may have. The restaurant seemed clean but the piles of wrapped fish behind the bar for everyone to see didn't look too appetizing. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more! read more

The sushi was mostly delicious! The fresh roll (non baked) was good except for two pieces with one fish variety which tasted too fishy. I couldn't eat it.. I wasn't sure if it was bad fish or something else but the other fish varieties tasted super fresh. I liked that the rolls looked aesthetic. I also usually never get the baked rolls but this time I wanted to try it. I loved that it was basically a California roll with extra topping on it and then baked. California rolls are my favorite rolls to keep things simple and not too complicated. I also got to use my new torch on the baked roll which I was excited about. I made the roll extra caramelized. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. I love sushi, but the spider roll I got tasted kind of burnt. I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen that day, I know there's soft shell crab tempura in there but is it supposed to taste burnt like that?? I was visiting a friend at the hospital and just didn't want to travel far for sushi. Found this place in a small plaza. They have nice outdoor seating and its spacious inside. I ordered oysters. They were a bit pricey but it was delicious. I got some salmon rolls and some eel rolls. They were fine. The mussels have a different flavor than other sushi places I go to, but was ok. Service was good. Everyone there smiled and was lovely. The nice thing about this day is that a random person, stranger, paid for my 75$ meal just so that I can have a better day. It's not the money, but rather the beautiful gesture. I want to mention this bc well, I'd really like to pay for you if we ever get to cross paths again. Comfortable, the place is very big where you can bring 10 to 20 people inside. The Sashimi was AMAZING. We love it here. We usually get takeout but it looks like the ambiance seems pretty happening here also. It seems like they have their fair share of bar regulars as well as people who dine in. Our favorite roll ever is the 49er roll- the lemon adds the perfect flavor. Sometimes we'll just get a California roll and add lemon at home. The Shelby roll is also incredible. Love the combination of eel, salmon, and that thin slice of lemon on top makes this roll so fresh and delicious. It melts in my mouth. I order this roll through door dash at least twice a month. Only critique is it does have a lot of rice packed into it. Not a fan of their gyoza. They serve it on lettuce so the lettuce taste transfers to the hot gyoza. The portions are big which is great and I love how they have pictures of their rolls in the menu so you can easily spot what you like. They have great fast service. We ended up at Senro Sushi when our regular place was closed and we absolutely fell in love. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and the menu is fantastic. There were 5 of us in our group and each of us ordered different dishes to share so we could try multiple items. The rolls are creative and flavorful, the salads are fantastic and the selection of non-sushi items is plentiful. Definitely recommend this restaurant and we cannot wait to go back! read more

Our server Jenni came to our table pretty quickly to get our drink orders. I eventually got the Orange blossom sushi as well as salmon hand rolls. My wife ordered California rolls for her and my 2 1/2 year old. Finally as an appetizer we ordered the Fried tofu. Food is fresh and service is outstanding! We landed at this place largely because it actually featured a full bar, a rarity among Japanese restaurants. Very often when searching on Yelp for a Japanese restaurant with the "Full Bar" feature selected, the search returns mostly false positives, possibly because the algorith misinterprets the term "sushi bar" with "full bar." (Try it yourself.) The restaurant was pretty good, better than I would normally expect from a mall establishment. Service was good, waiter and bartender were friendly, and food was--not bad. The teriyaki, shioyaki and udon were fine. There were also numerous other hot dishes that looked interesting, sush as a lamb chop appetizer. The problem was the sushi and sashimi, which were served room temperature, quite soft and not very fresh looking. The cocktails were great, though.
