I was starving on a Saturday night and searched on yelp to look for some nearby Korean restaurants around where I live. I have been craving Korean food since my recent trip to Seoul. I was happy to find this restaurant and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is huge! There is a bar and sushi bar area. There are also a lot of tables. The menu is pretty extensive and there is a variety of things to try. I ordered the Korean scallion pancake with kimchi, kanpoogki (a sweet and spicy chicken), and seoleongtang (a Korean soup made from ox bones with beef brisket). Everything was delicious and the portion is really big! I shared this with another person and we were only able to finish half of what we ordered. The kanpoogki was really flavorful. The chicken is super tender. My only complaint is that the sauce was a little on the salty side. The service is great! The staff is very attentive. It's good that I don't have to go all the way out to Allston to get some good Korean food! They have an extensive menu with korean and japanese food. I tried the korean scallion pancake with kimchi, kanpoogki (sweet and spicy chicken), seolongtang (ox bones and beef brisket soup), and bibimbap. When you order korean food, it comes with banchans (side dishes) too! Everything that I ordered was delicious and they are generous with the portions! I really recommend the korean scallion pancake! The crust is crispy and it's soft and chewy in the center, just how I like it! A lot of people that sat around us saw that and asked what it was and they ended up ordering it as well! The seolongtang is pretty interesting. I have never had it before. It's basically a beef soup. They give you salt and pepper on the side and you can flavor the soup yourself! The kangpooki was really good! It's the korean version of sweat and sour chicken! I also recommend the bibimbap! It's as good as the ones I had when I was in Korea! They also have an extensive drink menu. My friends and I tried the soju there. They have chum-churum and chamisol to choose from for sojus. They also have sake, beer and wine. Seoul serves decent Korean food in Boston. Its the best you are gonna get if you don't watch to venture out to Allston. We made a reservation for a Saturday night, which was not necessary. There were people there, but given that it is a large space, there were empty tables as well. We started off with soj. There are only 2 types - we went with the chum churum. I really wish they had flavored soju! The menu has both korean and japanese food. We came here to eat Korean food and started off with the pajeong ( or pancake). The pajeong was delicious, and came with some spicy dipping sauce. The ba chan was not bad- there were only 4 dishes. I am used to having way more free ba chan at other korean restaurants. We had the soon doo boo and spicy pork bulgogi for our main course. The soon doo boo was soooo spicy, that I had to take breaks in between each bite. It was delicious but a little too hot. Love the décor and huge menu options. The place offers sushi and the traditional Korean dishes. We were pretty excited to find a hip Korean restaurant in the city. There were many dishes that we'd wanted to try. We opted for the following: Appetizer - Ichiban Maki Roll (tuna, salmon, albacore, white fish on top of spicy yellowtail) Entrees - Seoul bbq combination - Seafood tofu soup and bbq chicken Seoul bbq combo - seafood soup and bby spicy pork The appetizer came quickly and tasted pretty fresh. As for the entrees - they forgot to ring in the ticket and it took over 1hr for us to get our entrees. Let's say when we did get the entrees - it was a disappointment. The soups were overly doused with pepper seasoning - lacking any other flavoring. The spicy pork was more sweet than spicy. The bbq chicken (white meat) was rather bland - the seasoning/marinade did not adhere to the meat. Service was a total miss. Initially, we asked our server about our entrees and she said the kitchen was swamped. Another server (appears to be the head server) later told us they forgot to enter the ticket. Our server never followed through with her service (maybe because she was embarrassed of her mistake or simply didn't care). The head server was apologetic and gave us a discount on our bill. This restaurant is so-so, not good but also not bad enough to give it a 1 star. First, u can make reservations but probly not really necessary. We went on a Saturday night during peak dinner time, and restaurant was less than half full. They sat us right away. Service is horrendous, honestly. I know not to expect good service at a Korean restaurant, but this is one of the worst I've seen. They took an outrageous amount of time to take our order and you have to wait a really long time for the food to come out. If they forget anything, be prepared to let everyone's food get cold before they'll come back with that missing item for you. Food is just okay. It's a fusion restaurant. Tofu soup is pretty bland, not worth getting. Bulgogi is good, but you can't really go wrong with that anywhere u go. Japanese curry is not good: it's not like any Japanese curry I've ever had anywhere. It was kinda watery and not very tasty. Would never get this again. Portions are decent. I recently had a craving for Korean food. So while I was in town on business, I figured I'd give this place a try. Seoul may be a restaurant that suffers an identity problem because they also serve Japanese cuisine. And while I'm only writing about MY dining experience, I'll have to admit that some of the sushi rolls that passed by my table looked quite appetizing. FOOD: I ordered the Seafood Scallion Pancakes and the Seafood Bibimbop. Both of the dishes were TOP NOTCH. In fact, I would put these dishes up against my 2 favorite Korean places in NY (Korea Spoon - Midtown, NY...right in the heart of Koreatown) and NJ (PoongLim - Ft. Lee). BEVERAGE: My only knock was that my beer was warm. I asked to exchange it for a colder bottle, but was told that ALL the bottles were the same temperature. I drank it anyway - but then switched to diet soda. SERVICE: I read some reviews about slow service. The place wasn't packed (I'd say half capacity, including one party of 12). I was seated immediately and didn't really wait long to be served. The server was very polite throughout. He offered to take my beer back (it was my decision to keep it). He even asked if I wanted the pancake served first vs. bringing everything out at once. PRICE: One beer...one soda...one app...one entree. $34.08. Great food...great service...I'll be back. Came here for a girls early dinner. It was four and early so hardly anyone in the place. Plenty of seating, decor simple and clean. We sat next to the open windows, which on a warm June afternoon felt really nice. Our waiter was excellent. He came many times to the table, to clear things off, or top off our wine and didnt mind that we just kept chatting:) We had the Kimchi scallion pancake and gyoza for apps. Both were really good. I didn't set high expectations for the food since Beacon Hill is not where one typically gets Korean food. I got the beef bugolgi. The portion was large. It was good for sharing for two people, but if you were hungry like me one person could polish it off. The beef could have been marinated more. It was tender but it just didn't have that "bugolgi kick" to it. I was just eating beef. The meal came with some traditional side dishes and a small container of rice. Adequate for the Beacon Hill area. Tried it out for delivery and eat-in several times now. The soondubu chigae is my all time favorite dish and they have it here. It's been perfectly delectably tasty every single time. For my most recent visit with a friend, the waitress suggested the tofu/meat combos which was a great idea. We opted for the soodubu chigae with an order of bbq pork belly. Then we added our usual manduk with rice cake soup since it was a chilly day! We were very pleased with the meals. The service has always been pleasant. For delivery with friends who have a newborn, we always get the kalbi (2 orders), a bibimpap, japchae, pajun and some other rice dishes. I've gotten it extra spicy which set my mouth on fire in a good way, and loved it. But I love this dish even more a notch down just at "spicy." It's so flavorful and I love the sauce it is in. Great portion size for $18.99. I love that if I make a note on my order, Seoul has an attention of detail to take my note in consideration. I was craving for Korean food but could not resist ordering sushi. Uni was fresh no oceany smell to it. And out of curiosity, I wanted to see what the spicy tuna salad looked like. Pieces of tuna was big on top icebergs lettuce. Although the spicy part was more so sweet then spicy. I also order the sake clams which had a steaming broth but no flavor to it yet it wasn't annoyingly sandy either. They were good size clams. I'd go back and try the Korean dishes they have. The food here was definitely good, but nothing special. The noodle plates are a generous helping, and was delicious. The sushi was just ok -- maybe I should have gotten a more adventurous roll. I tried their spicy tuna and spicy salmon, as well as the edamamae and the miso soup. I liked the setting of the restaurant more than the food -- they have big windows that they open up when it's warm and nice out. We really liked that! I am going to go straight to the point here. We ordered 5 items off of the menu: seafood pancake, bbq kalbi, Jokbal(pig feet), spicy stir fried baby octopus and the cod stew. The sea food pancake feels slightly undercooked, which makes the whole thing very sticky and hard to cut. The dipping sauce is underwhelming with almost no flavor. Overall 2/5, but I gave it 1/5 for screwing up something so simple to score high. The kalbi is not as tender as I was expecting, but the meat it self is a pass. However what baffles me is that the sauce seems like is cooked separately from the meat and just poured on top afterwards. It feels like eating meat dipped in sauce rather than a coherent dish. I have never seen this done before in any other Korean restaurants for this dish. 2/5. Jokbal tastes pretty good and the sauce is not bad. However we did notice that there are a lot of hairs not removed from the skin. I expected more from a restaurant of this price caliber. 3/5 The stir fried octopus looked and tasted 5 dollar 1 item entree that came out of a fast food Asian restaurant at a small airport. 0/5 if I could actually do that. Spicy cod stew is pretty spicy, with not much else flavor in it. I am not a fan of Korean soups but I still can enjoy them once in a while. This dish simply taste subpar. 1/5. I would have this a 2/5 if this was opened in a small town in the middle of nowhere and this would be the only Korean restaurant. I got the tukboki and my friend got the bibimbap. She gives hers a 8/10 since there wasn't that much pork given and she has had better. I give mine a 8/10 as well. So ofc the mix didn't taste good at all since it was burnt and had the taste of it being burned. The mix was also sweet, unlike what I was excepting it to be (salty). For the kimchi pancake, the texture I liked (it was chewy) but it LACKED flavor. There was no kimchi flavor or anything. The sauce that did cake with it was not good (I think it was just vinegar and hot oil). All in all the food was disappointing as the flavor was either lacking or just not what we expected (maybe the mix would've tasted better if it wasn't burnt? but I doubt it as it the sauce was sweet when we wanted salty). So to end this...I wouldn't come back personally as the food we did order was not good and under our expectations, but I don't wanna say their other items are bad as well. Try Seoul if it's your last option, but if there's other Korean places nearby choose those instead. read more

I actually sat down for dinner tonight. The ac is not cold enough and the seats are So uncomfortable. Plus, there's a gym upstairs and it's annoying with weights being dropped on the floor. We had stone pot bibimbap, takoyaki and kanpoongki. Everything was good but takoyaki rather small. We thought the kanpoongki was chicken wings but wasn't. Overall staff was nice but waiter Gary dropped chopsticks on me and left a stain on my jeans. He didn't say sorry, only, just leave them there (referring to chopsticks on floor). I have had stone pot bibimbop in a few places in different cities and this is up there with my favorites! Apparently some people leaving reviews are ordering dishes they've never had before then acting mad that they don't know how to eat it. Here's a pro tip: if your stone pot is sizzling, maybe don't touch it, smarty. Would you touch your sizzling fajita pan? What's wrong with you? And the rice is supposed to be crispy on the bottom. How crispy is up to you! Stir the bowl right away if you don't want it too crispy. If you like it basically burnt, leave it and eat off the top to start. Also, these are pretty customizable bowls. They'll pretty much put whatever you want in these! Want more meat? Just ask! Extra egg? They'll do it! Sub veggies? Also possible! This place is great! This is a great lunch spot which has a lot of options and lunch specials for a great price. It is definitely not extraordinary food but you get what you pay for. They have Korean and Japanese food options, and its cooked decent. The location is great too! I've only been here once during the lunch hours and got their lunch special ($10.95). I must give it up to Seoul. After some confusion with the menu about what the combo tofu soup comes with, they gave me what the menu said even though the menu was incorrect. They were very sweet about it and the delivery guy was SO NICE!! This time I got some kalbi with my tofu soup and OMMMMMGG friggin' delicious- I didn't leave an ounce of fat on those bones. I mean, AMAZING! I am in love with this place. My only gripe is the tiny tiny amount of meat on the bibimbap but that doesn't mean it's not a 5 star bibimbap.
