A great option for Korean food if you are around the MGH area. The restaurant is conveniently located in Beacon Hill, right across the street from the hospital. The inside is large and spacious, and they frequently have open tables so I have never needed a reservation when I've come here. Might need one for large parties, though. The food is good and quite authentic. I got the stone pot bibimbap ($14) and the beef bulgolgi ($17). The stone pot bibimbap was pretty standard, and came with an assortment of vegetables and beef. I wish they had a higher meat to vegetable ratio. The beef bulgolgi came out sizzling and was very tender and flavorful. I only gave 3 stars because although the food is good, the prices are high for the amount of food and the service leaves something to be desired. read more

Love coming here for lunch or dinner. I usually get the beef soondubu & LA Kalbi combo. My coworker loves getting the avocado maki here. Soondubu is a different tofu texture than lets say Kaju Tofu house in Allston. It's more like broken tofu stew than the other soondubu I've tried. Their regular spice level isn't really that hot either, and it doesn't come with a raw egg to put in the tofu either. But the kalbi is pretty good, and they give you ample amount too so you're definitely full when you leave. Banchan is also very good, and you can even ask for refills. Service can be slow at times as it appears that there's usually only 1 or 2 wait staff running around the entire restuarant. read more

Did they change ownership??? Have been going to Seoul for years and food was great (pre-Covid) Recent went there for Father's Day and was totally disappointed by the food. First, ordered Kimchi jigae and it came out lukewarm!! How does that happen? You cook it in the bowl that you bring out to the table?!! My husband and I order the pork and potatoe stew for two, the propane burner went out in the middle of our meal and our ramen noodle basically sat in lukewarm broth while they were trying to figure out what went wrong. The worst part is that they brought out parts of our meal in take out containers!!! When I asked our server about the how the bowls were sytrofoam take out containers and I have never been served in take out containers, her response is that she's new. I tried this place last weekend when I ended up craving Korean tofu soup randomly. I wasn't in the mood to go out and get dressed so I did take out. I ended up getting the tofu soup with galbi and the tofu soup with chicken bulgogi. Let's just say it's the last time ever I'm eating at this place. The beef tofu soup literally had no beef in it, and it was so runny, what threw me off was not even the soup but the chicken bulgogi, the chicken tasted dirty and dry. It lacked flavor and it was so disappointing. The galbi meat was probably the best I ordered that night. If this had been my first trying tofu soup I probably would never try it again after that experience but after having it so many times at Kaju I will never waste my money again by going elsewhere to try it. read more

I looove Seoul, and even my Korean friends are fans so you know it's good. The restaurant itself is super spacious, which is quite a rarity for the beacon hill area. This is a great place for groups, and they have a full bar with soju too! I would highly, highly recommend any of the pajuns - light, crispy, chewy rice flour pancakes with veggies or seafood or etc. mixed in. The kbbq plates, although pricey, are also delicious. The meat is high quality and super tasty! In addition, the ddukbokki is always a win. The best part of Korean food is that you always get a ton of small side dishes, because variety is the spice of life after all. I can vouch that each side dish I've had here is well made and delicious. Service is also very fast and efficient, and I've never had to wait for a table. I'm a regular here for good reason. I went for dinner on a Friday night and there wasn't a wait, which is great for Boston! We got seated and our first waitress was very welcoming. She answered any questions that we had about the menu. After placing our orders for the Stone Pot Bibimbap, they brought out miso soup and some sides to share like kimchi and pickled cucumbers. A decent, reasonably priced Korean/Japanese option (most entrees $10-15). Not too crowded on a weekday evening. Service was fast/polite. The menu is overwhelming and about half Korean (soups, meats, appetizers) and half Japanese food (ramen, udon, sushi). Kind of a weird combo but if you've got cravings for both, why not? Solid Korean food if you don't want to go all the way to Allston/Brighton. Easiest way to get here by T is to take the red line to Charles/MGH. I'm usually in a big group, and we have been able to get a table without a reservation every time. However, if you're coming on a Friday/Saturday evening, you might want to call ahead to check. Oh, and they do take-out: it's pretty quick. Layout: There is seating on the main floor and down the steps on the lower floor. The bathrooms are all the way down the stairs, past the sushi bar. Food: I pretty much order the same dishes every time, depending on the group I'm with. Appetizer is usually the Egg Casserole (A16) and/or the Tukboki Mix for 2 (F1). I prefer the Mix over the appetizer version, because you get a lot more. I try to avoid gluten, so I ask for the dumplings on the side. (While the Mix is listed as an entree, it does NOT come with rice and side dishes. Some waiters have given it to us as a courtesy in the past, but this isn't always the case.) If I'm with 1 or 2 other people, I get the Firm Tofu Stew (E2) or the Kimchi Stew (E9): both are solid choices. If I'm with a bigger group, we get the Gamjatang for 2 (E20) and/or the Budae Pot (E24). Both of these pots are pretty big, and it has definitely fed 4 just fine. (I prefer the Budae Pot. This also comes with ramen, so make sure to ask for it if they forget!) If you're a meat-eater, try one of the BBQ dishes. I'm not a huge fan, so I've only tried the Kalbi (H1) and the Spicy Pork Bulgogi (H6). They're both good, but this isn't usually what I come for. If you order an entree, it will come with side dishes. These always change, so I've never gotten the same dishes (or same 4 dishes) twice. You always get kimchi, but the rest usually change depending on the day you go. If you're looking for drinks, my go-to is the Makkoli (rice wine). For $12.95, there's definitely enough for 7 or 8 people to each get a bowl. read more

The Japchae is really oily and really overpriced. There's a fair amount of beef in it, but seriously - an overwhelming amount of oil. We also got a Bulgogi + Beef Tofu Soup combo. Portion sizes for the bulgogi were a little small. And I was surprised to find the Tofu Soup was overwhelmingly tofu - with very little protein in sight. Overall, it was a decent meal but a little too pricey for the quality you're getting. I was craving Korean food and convinced my boyfriend to try this place out with me since it's a lot closer to us than Allston. We ended up ordering two combos: naengmyeon + pork belly for him, bibimbap + beef bulgogi for me which proved to be more than enough food. We really appreciated the generous portions and honestly, there wasn't anything we didn't like. It just didn't necessarily have a wow factor which is why I'd have to give it three stars. This is a great Korean restaurant. I really enjoyed the taste and the quantity. I was also impressed by the service. There was one very attentive guy and he served the entire ten tables by himself. I think the food is reasonably priced. They had excellent BonChon, kalbi, and fried squid. The only thing I prefer it is grilling my own Kalbi but the meat was just as good anyway. I wanted to have a quick lunch and catch a train from the North Station. This was one of the open restaurants that seemed to have good Asian food. So I went there. There were 2 waitresses. I stood near the bar waiting to be seated. Nobody came up to me to ask if I wanted to sit or waiting to pickup. After around 10 minutes, a waitress approached me and told me that I can sit anywhere. I chose a table and waited for the menu. I told her that I am in a hurry and hoped that she will be fast. I also told her that I don't want any drink, just water. It took her 10 more minutes to get the water. No Menu on the table yet. I had to wait longer and when she gave me the menu, I realized that I am not going to be able to eat in the restaurant, so I asked her to make a takeout order of Spicy Salmon Roll & Spicy Tune Roll. I also asked for some extra ginger. I love ginger and I always ask for it whenever I eat Sushi. I stood up and went to the waiting area and waited for my food. When the order was ready, I asked her if she gave me extra ginger. Apparently she had forgotten, she added a tiny box of extra ginger and charged me $1 for it. I have requested more ginger with sushi all my life all around the world. But this is the first time anybody charged for it. $1 is not a big issue for me, but it says a lot about how the restaurant treats its customers. First, they don't care about your time, and then they don't care about the service they provide. Not going there again and I hope you will learn from my review and avoid this place. Been here twice. First time I got tteokbokki and second time I got pork belly bbq. The tteokbokki was good but the pork belly barely had flavor. The seasame seed oil and salt dipping sauce would have helped it. Both times did not get any sides (banchan). I was by myself but I would still want the sides or at least offered some. A solid three star Korean food option. The best part of coming to this restaurant is the convenience of having it in the center of Boston, and it's quite spacious. However it pales in comparison to any restaurants in Allston. I ordered the Soondooboo, which is hard to mess up - it hit the spot well, especially when paired with some delicious rice. However none of our banchan were anything special, and my soup itself was quite bland compared to many other types I've tasted. Came here on a Tuesday night and the seating area right as we entered was pretty packed. They have a lower level too and that area was on the emptier side save a big group and a few tables to the side. My friend and I were seated on the upper level and service was a bit slow. I think there was only one server taking care of all the tables there, which I'm roughly estimating to be about 8 tables? She was busy, so it wasn't her fault. It took her awhile to come take our order and it felt even longer for the food to come out. :( We ordered the LA kalbi and gamjatang to share. The kalbi wasn't very exciting; it tasted very standard, maybe a bit on the drier side, which I didn't like. The gamjatang came in a big pot which was heated at the table over a butane burner. It's a big portion which can be easily shared among 4 people. My friend and I only got through half of it, oops. It was a very rich and hearty stew; it had a lot of ingredients and packed a lot of flavor. The spiciness was more on the mild side, which was nice. From what I recall, the stew had lots of potato chunks, watercress, enoki mushrooms, green onions, and pork bones with meat on them. I loved that the meat just slid off the bones without much effort. It's like you could tell they'd been simmering in broth for hours and hours to make that rich stew. I have to say that the porky aftertaste of the stew threw me off a little bit in the beginning. It's literally a pork bone based stew so I don't know what I was expecting LOL but it just tasted so...porky. My friend didn't notice it, so your taste may vary. While it may have been a bit strange to me at first, the flavor definitely grew on me. I hardly noticed the porky taste towards the end. I would say, though, if you're not a fan of pork, you should steer clear of this dish. While the service was on the slower end, the food was enjoyable. It's definitely worth another visit to try out other items on the menu. read more

That being said, I went here with my friend who grew up in Hong Kong, and she said it's pretty authentic. So, if you don't believe me, believe her I guess. I came to Seoul as an alternative to my usual Allston neighborhood for Korean food. They offer traditional Korean dishes along with sushi and Japanese noodle dishes. Because of this "fusion" menu that they offer, I don't think their Korean food is as great as the restaurants in Allston. + KIMCHI PAJEON: I really miss the kimchi scallion pancake that my grandma makes at home, but Seoul makes a pretty good one. The pancake texture is very thick, but the kimchi flavors are prominent with assorted vegetables and was presented in a skillet with a great crunchy exterior. - MUL NAENGMYUN: This is a buckwheat noodle dish served cold in a beef broth, and it was lacking serious flavor. I usually put a little vinegar and spicy mustard to complement the dish, but no matter how much of this I put into my cold broth, it didn't seem to change the flavor! I was very disappointed. - ICHIBAN ROLL: This roll is spicy yellowtail and cucumber on the inside, topped with tuna, salmon, albacore, fish, and a dollop of Sriracha. The fish did not taste fresh and the variety of fish in this roll did not make a difference in tastes. Although Seoul is a beautiful restaurant with plenty of seating and large windows overlooking Beacon Hill, I do not think the food here is worth the price. If they focused their menu on the Korean food items over the Japanese food, they may do better in terms of taste. read more

This is by far the best Korean restaurant that I have ever been to in the entire Boston area. That means a lot coming from me because I literally grew up in Boston ever since I was a kid. I grew up here, I went to school here, and now I work here. And I can't think of one restaurant in the entire area that offers this many variety of options at the price that they offer. In fact, this is probably the only Korean restaurant that you will be able to find in this particular location. Normally to get your Korean food fix, you either have to go out to Allston (which is really an illusion because half the restaurants there are owned by the same guy) or H-Mart out in Harvard Square or Burlington. Highlights: Korean Scallion Pancake - So crispy and delicious. I usually ask for oyster ones because I like seafood but you do have the option to go with just vegetables, including kimchi. They prepare it on a flat hot stone pot and it keeps it hot and crispy throughout your dining experience. This is a must dish! Yukgejang or Dakgejang - I highly recommend! The only difference is one is beef and the other one is chicken. But they both taste great. (This soup really goes well with soju lol) Special BBQ Combinations - This is where you really get your money's worth. You get to order a main dish and it comes with your selection of Korean BBQ dish. I love all their meat, but I especially like their spicy pork BBQ. Definitely give it a try! I'm so glad my friends introduced me to this gem on Beacon Hill. The restaurant itself is huge - I think it would be ideal for big groups in the back, but the vibe of the front of the restaurant was modern, warm, and cozy, even with the large windows encompassing the entire restaurant. I'm definitely coming back here just for this man. Naengmyun - I had one bite and I wasn't a fan. My friend said it was very very good the last time he had it so we ordered it, but the moment he tasted it, he felt like something was off. We kept adding vinegar and wasabi to it, but it didn't make it better. After talking to the waitress, she was kind enough to bring us a concentrated broth to try which we added to ours. There were people there, but given that it is a large space, there were empty tables as well. We started off with soj. There are only 2 types - we went with the chum churum. I really wish they had flavored soju! The menu has both korean and japanese food. We came here to eat Korean food and started off with the pajeong ( or pancake). The pajeong was delicious, and came with some spicy dipping sauce. The ba chan was not bad- there were only 4 dishes. I am used to having way more free ba chan at other korean restaurants. We had the soon doo boo and spicy pork bulgogi for our main course. The soon doo boo was soooo spicy, that I had to take breaks in between each bite. It was delicious but a little too hot. The spicy pork was delicious as well. I am glad to have found a decent korean place in Boston and plan to be back. read more
