First I should say I have been in customer service since 1983. That's 32 years and counting. There is very little out there in this field that I have not seen. Below my observation of this company after seeing all of these 4 and 5 stars. I had called this company to obtain an estimate for a job that could had run anywhere from 3200 to 6500. I called Service Champions to see what other estimates I can get. I was told their tech would arrive between 4 and 5 on the 8th. 4 comes and then 5 and then 6 and then 7. Finally I get a call at 7, to say their representative had an emergency, they apologized and offered to re-schedule to which I agreed for the following week, today the 15th. Again, 4 comes and then 5 and then at 5:15, a little improved from the last time, I get a call that their representative again had an emergency. Do I blame the representative or the person that called to re-schedule ? No. Rather, I hold the TOP manager, the owner, responsible. I called and asked for him to tell him it all comes down on him for having such dissatisfied "almost" client. Had he as the manager put rules in place and then enforce them to have his reps call BEFORE their appointment to say sorry I will be late which in my case should had been done long before 4 and NOT at 7, I would not had been as upset as I am now. I for many years worked as a field engineer and covered the entire bay area on almost daily basis. I always notified my customers of my arrival time and if anything caused any delay, I would call them LONG before their blood would come to boil. TWICE they had emergencies. As it wasn't bad enough to piss me off by standing me up twice, now insult my intelligence by using the same excuse twice. As I said, very little I have not seen in this field. So I called the main number and asked for the owner, Kevin. The lady that answered the phone was very persistent to know what my call was about as she was really trying to filter the good and the bad from arriving the owner's ears. She said Kevin was not around so I asked if she would be kind enough to forward my name and phone number to Kevin and asks that he calls me. After all being the owner you would want to know how your customers are treated. I was then put on hold for a couple of minutes and then a second female comes on the phone claiming to be the manager and again very persistent to know why I was trying to reach the owner. Again I asked kindly if she could pass on my name and number to the owner. Again my request was rejected. I asked if there was a problem with me talking to the owner. Again another answer to keep pushing me back to which lead to my telling her she will hear from me on yelp. Here I am !!! As I said, I have been in customer service for many many years. This company definitely does not deserve 5 stars from me !!! Since this posting got published, I have received multiple calls from this place. Despite my numerous times of asking for the owner, again it's either Gina calling or some general manager and NOT the owner,Kevin. It seems as I am not worth his time. Well, he's not worth my business !!! Being a customer service authority with 30+ years under my belt, these people have NO FREAKING clue what customer service is about. Gina and this so called "general manager" are just adding more fuel to my fire by leaving me vmails. Am I not speaking English when in the same words I ask to speak with the owner TIME after TIME after TIME ??? BUYERS BEWARE! My family chose this company to do their air conditioning upgrade with because they cost more than the competitors and we wanted to pay extra for better service. Let me tell you now that is not the case. The system was installed in 2020 and since then the problems begin: First, they took 3 days to come back and fix the screw ups they made during the installation such as spider web wiring in furnace closet, falling apart furnace duct work, some extra holes drilled in my house for some reason. The condenser was placed on an unlevel surface and was not attached to a mounting pad or anything for that matter. It was bouncing around my backyard until they came and fixed it. The a/c refrigerant pipes were not covered with insulation in the attic area because they thought I wouldn't take a look at it and see what they did. Next, in a week or so, the problem was me waking up to water flooding the first floor. After a quick inspection we noticed the water was coming from the A/C unit and when the technician came to diagnose the problem he found out that there was not enough refrigerant "R410A" filled during the installation process and that's why it leaked all over my first floor. Now a year later, in 2021, the condenser started to intermittently make very loud noises that were measured up to 80dB which is equivalent to a busy downtown street and is harmful to your hearing over time. I showed the technician my video evidence that I had of the dB reading and he dismissed it because he hadn't heard the problem himself which is very convenient for them. They came to check it out and said that there is nothing wrong and it is functioning as it should and charged me $89 for a diagnostic fee. In 2022, I tried to survive with the A/C being so loud for about another whole year but it started to sound like it was on its last limb so I made another attempt to find a solution with them and scheduled an appointment. The technician arrives and finds the problem and diagnoses that the compressor was faulty. He scheduled an appointment for the next day for a technician to come and fix it. But of course, the technician who was called to come fix the compressor says the he conveniently didn't hear the problem that the coworker sent him to fix in the first place so he left leaving me with a very loud A/C. A couple hours later I got a call from general manager, Mark. He says that they don't see any issues with the system and if we hear any issues they'll be happy to schedule another appointment and take another $89 for a diagnostic fee. Then I called the 1-800 number posted on the Service Champions website as a last stand trying to find a solution before legal action and the guy on my phone promised me that the general manager, Mark, will personally call me back in the next hour and he also promised me that he will follow up with me later today as well but of course nobody called me that day or the next. In conclusion, please look at other companies for your A/C system upgrades/repairs because these guys are only interested in selling and installing new systems but when it comes to needing maintenance or service they are completely useless. read more

I had the unfortunate misfortune of hiring Service Champions to tune up my home's AC system, and it turned into an absolute nightmare. I cannot stress enough how terrible my experience with them was, and I strongly advise everyone to steer clear of this company if you value your hard-earned money and sanity. First off, the supposed AC "tune-up" they performed ended up breaking my AC unit even further. Not only did they fail to address the initial issues I had, but they managed to introduce new problems that I had never encountered before. The level of incompetence displayed by their technicians is baffling. It's as if they have no idea what they're doing and are just experimenting with my AC system as if it were a science project. But that's not even the worst part. Despite causing more harm than good to my AC system, they had the audacity to refuse any responsibility and declined to refund the money I paid for their so-called "tune-up" service. It's utterly shocking that they can get away with taking money for a service they utterly failed to deliver on. Their customer service representatives were not only unhelpful, but they were also rude and dismissive when I tried to voice my concerns. And let's not forget about their MVP+ membership, which is nothing short of a ripoff. They lure you in with promises of priority service and exclusive benefits, but in reality, it's just a ploy to lock you into a never-ending cycle of paying exorbitant membership fees for subpar services. It's clear that this company cares more about squeezing money out of their customers than actually providing quality services. I genuinely regret ever giving Service Champions a chance to work on my AC system. They have demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, technical expertise, and ethical behavior. It's disappointing to see a company operate in such a predatory manner, preying on unsuspecting customers and leaving them high and dry with broken AC systems and empty wallets. Save yourself the trouble and frustration by avoiding them at all costs. There are plenty of reputable and reliable HVAC companies out there that actually value their customers and take pride in their work. Lar is an excellent professional. He is polite, clear, and knows what he's talking about. I was very impressed with Service Champions from my first encounter (SC was at my neighbors and I asked for an estimate). A young man came to the door (I'm sorry, I don't remember his name!) and he called the main office right there and set up my appointment for an estimate. Then came Lar, who was courteous and precise. Then came a comprehensive estimate, then the office called me to see if I had questions. Everyone SO polite and professional. I'm impressed, head to toe. Honestly not even the lowest estimate, but I felt safest with Service Champions because their Customer Service was stellar. Lar even went under my house and took video for me so he could explain what he was talking about regarding my ducts. It feels good to get such stellar service, it's not that common! I think I'm going to go stare at my nice, neatly placed compressor one more time! Adding my appreciation for the install crew here. Jose Ramirez was incredible. He was with a crew and they were ALL SO polite and professional. They ended up having to come into the house to go into the attic. They laid cloth down so they didn't make a mess.. there was NO TRACE of them being in my house. No trace of them being in the garage except for the new unit. Jose was a joy to chat with. He took his job seriously. He trained his new crew member as they went along. The young man who installed my compressor took me to the corner where the compressor was going to be and made sure I was happy with the location. He very neatly and cautiously removed my bulbs that were in the dirt and laid them aside for me. Again, no trace of them was left, except for that pretty compressor! All in all I encountered 6 or 7 SC folks, and each was was so well trained, and just so polite. It was a pleasure to do business with you all! Thanks, Lar, Jose & Crew! read more

I chose Service Champions H&AC because they are a Diamond Certified company. I needed to fix my furnace that was not working anymore, so I made an appointment with them for Thursday . An hour and a half after my appointment window, I called to ask what happened, no one had come by yet? They said, glad I called, they have been trying to contact me, but unable to reach me... neither one of us could come up with why I couldn't get the calls... but even though they are very busy, they immediately placed me as priority for the next day, Friday. Mr. Dakota Brown was sent out to my home for the diagnoses and fix. I was very pleased with this professional gentleman. If I had a possible unsure thought about this company, due to the communication glitch, I was completely reasured about the professionalism, knowledge, and ability of this company from the work performance and work ethics of Mr. Dakota Brown. He was professionally friendly and good natured, and in uniformed attire. He respected my home by wearing shoe covers each and every time he entered, and he showed me each step he would need to take in the fixing of the furnace, explaining those proceedures if I wanted to know about them. He never made me feel like I was not listened to, or that my statements were not worth his time. . He was thorough, and clean, and neither rushed, nor sluggish in the job. We have 4 units that need tune-ups, ( many years of no tune-ups), so I found that the yearly subscription was a good fit for us. I shall be using Service Champions again. { And I did have a "Happy Day" ). Recently tried to get a quote from this place. I will tell you straight out they will try to sell you services you do not need. We wanted our vents cleaned. First they will send you an inspector to check your vent system, which is not even free by the way. You have to pay them around $75 for that inspector. He takes some pictures and etc. He gives you a broad general estimate of the cost for what you need. Then they send you a "sales man" who goes over the exact price. This is where it gets pretty bad. Our ducts had asbestos and it was a problem. The dude says we need to take care of that before they can do work on it. He even had his own contract asbestos company who can give discounts. He's so pushy trying to get you to sign up on contract on the spot for thousands of dollars. He even offers that there's a discount if I signed on the day, but if later on I change my mind, the discount is gone. Very shady. I was so tempted to sign that day, but was I glad I didn't. Later on we found a different company to inspect our ducts and they said 2 of the ducts didn't even have asbestos. Service Champions said that "all" of the ducts had asbestos. I couldn't believe it. No wonder he tried to pressure me to sign on that day with all the incentives and fear mongering. I was so glad that I did not believe everything that sales man told me. I ended up saving thousands of dollars cause we found our own asbestos company who took care of only the ducts that were needed to be taken care of. And found another vent cleaning company who didn't scare us into trying to replace the whole duct work. read more

I understand now why your company is named Service Champions! My experience from the initial call for service, to dispatch calling me to confirm my appointment a day before and another call 30 mins before the technician arrived is highly appreciated. Jonathon sure did show up 30 mins after the call. He performed the work as promised and ensured me he would take his time being the furnace does have some age behind it. Watching him work from time to time I knew he was meticulous and very detailed in his findings. Throughout the visit his professionalism and expertise was easy to see. In the end he explained to me and my wife in detail as to the current condition of our furnace and for it's age is actually in good shape. He did not sell me, but I inquired about a maintenance contract. It was an easy choice to move forward with it along with my already discounted visit today. I'm sure there are many other HVAC companies in the bay area but the professionalism and standard of conduct this company has with it's employees and customers shows and you will receive top notch service. I've been in the service industry most all my life and the values your employees are very much in line with how I treat my customers/clients as well and I'm very difficult to please when it comes to service. I would highly recommend this company if you need any HVAC service at your residence. Wow! is what I have to say about Service Champions. When I called to set up an appointment for a quote, I was greeted with a courteous rep who was very patient and cordial. The day before my appointment, I received a reminder call and again, the person the other end was patient and courteous and very helpful with the few questions I had at the time. Typically my experience with customer service reps is they exhibit an 'I can care less' attitude and just want to get me off the phone or close the sale....Not with Service Champions, I felt like they were there to take care of me. The day of the appointment, 2 reps showed up; Doyle and Joel. After a tour of the home and attic, they took various measurements and then presented me with several quotes and options. Again, here I felt like they really cared about my needs and my comfort. I never, at any time felt like they were just trying to sell me an HVAC. They asked a lot of questions as to my lifestyle, whether I prefer it warmer or colder, sensitivity to noise, allergies, etc.... Once they presented the various options, they were honest about which one I should choose. I had initially been leaning toward the top of the line option presented, but after they explained that I may not utilize much of the additional benefit the option offered, I went with a less expensive route. Again, this really made me feel like they cared about what is right for me and that they were not just trying to upsell me. All in all, a great experience. If you want to feel like your being taken care of, definitely go with Service Champions. read more

I called Service Champions South Bay to take advantage of their recent special for a "Tune Up" on my HVAC system. I received a call the day before the appointment to confirm the time and date of the appointment and also received a call the morning of the appointment by Service Champions reminding me of the scheduled appointment and then one more call by the service technician Johnathan Vargas letting me know exactly when they would arrive. They arrived on time and were very professional. Johnathan came out with his partner Blake Hawkins who was also very professional and they explained the process and went to work. I have not had the best of luck with service companies in the past so I was naturally skeptical about what they might find wrong with the system thinking they would try and sell me services or parts I really didn't need but I was pleasantly surprised to learn my system was in good working order and did not need any type of repair. They even pointed out a possible future problem with a component on the compressor that showed signs of wear and suggested it be replaced in the near future. Based on my mechanical abilities they said I could replace this part myself and save a lot of money. I would highly recommend Service Champions South Bay for servicing your HVAC system and it is a good idea to have your system checked out every couple of years so it will perform as it should when you need it to! Joel A. provided excellent service on our annual tune-up the other day. The company consistently calls in advance to confirm the appointment -- the day before and a half-hour before the arrival of the technician. Joel came at the beginning of the window the company had given us, was courteous and knowledgeable as he examined our system, and explained options clearly to us. He offered additional (free!) services the company provides as part of our service contract, which was helpful because you don't always read the fine print of those things. We got the service contract because our HVAC system is nearing the end of its natural life and we need the discount on repairs, but good service like this confirms that we made the right choice going with this company. Thomas S. came the next day to do a performance test of our duct work. This is a longer process, but Thomas did the work expeditiously (crawl space, attic, and heat sensor of all interior walls and ceilings of home). He took over 50 pictures in the crawl space and a few in the attic, which was extremely useful so that he could walk me through the issues he found (it had been about 5 years since I'd been under the house, and wear-and-tear and workmen damaging the ductwork had apparently taken a toll). Thomas was clear, professional, and patient with all my questions -- it is really a confirmation of the quality of the company that EVERY service technician we have ever met meets this same standard. I had a problem with my AC. Called from a mailer I received, feeling nervous about doing that. Checked on line before calling and found no negatives about this company. The person answering the phone was very helpful and nice. Made the appointment. They also gave a reminder call. Rene was the first service man. Showed up on time, very courteous and professional, immaculate uniform, careful to leave no damage or mess in the house. Did a thorough diagnosis, found the problem, explained it along with my options. I was so impressed with Rene that I signed a service contract for both my AC and heating. The company contacted me to do a check on my heating. The specialist was Thomas. He was as courteous and professional as Rene. He was an encyclopedia of information on how furnaces work, what problems can exist, what can be done. He was extremely helpful, even offering to help replace what I had to move to allow him access to the crawl space under the house. Not only checked EVERYTHING, explaining what he was looking for but even took photos, which he uploaded to my iPad. A wow cost-free analysis of my heating system. This company probably is not the cheapest, but the service and demeanor of both of their employees was unparalleled. Impressive training and knowledge. No pressure to spend. Very helpful and considerate. Worth whatever it cost. I don't have time to fool around looking for a bargain or spending more time than necessary on repairs. Very impressive. read more

Service Champions helped revamp my HVAC system when my heater blew out. Our rep, Angelia, walked us through various options and helped put together a 2 step plan that fit best with my budget and ensure my home was upgraded with my family's comfort as top of mind. She was super friendly, knowledgable, and immediately made us feel like we were family. With such a big investment, Angelia answered all our questions patiently, provided various options, and put our minds at ease. The end to end service was impeccable. All service reps (Caesar, Paul, AJ, Greg - I'm sure I'm missing a few) were friendly, timely, and respectful. They were transparent and communicative about the process and the work they were doing. Overall we replaced my HVAC, all of the grills in the house, cleaned out and sealed my attic, added insulation and silver shield, a quietcool attic fan and whole house fan. Especially during the hot summers, you can tell off the bat how much cooler the house is and how much more efficiently my system is running. The quietcool whole house fan does an amazing job of saving me from having to run my AC longer, but also brings in a fresh breeze into the house. My attic was running about ~150 degrees during the summer and now it's closer to 110 and you can tell the improvement through out the house. At the end of the day, I could not be happier with the process and the end result. I'd highly recommend Service Champions for any HVAC needs. read more

This is my first Yelp review, and it is for Dakota! Out AC unit was actually installed last summer through the home warranty, but it stopped working at the beginning of this summer. BTW, we didn't renew the home warranty this year after that lousy work from another heating and air conditioning company. I got a flyer from Service Champions in my porch probably a month ago and finally got a chance to call them after checking their ratings on internet. Dakota came in and did a thorough examination on my AC unit, the furnace, and he also spent 10 to 20 minutes on our attic in this 85 degree summer. I am sure he was not taking a nap over there :) He showed me multiple pictures of the ducts that he found problems. He probably covered every corner and for the first time i got to know how rusty and dirty my attic is. During the entire process, he answered all the questions i asked professionally, honestly and patiently, as well as explained every examination he did. Bottom line is for the problem he found with the AC unit he suggested to contact the company who installed the AC unit last year and check the warranty with them, which most likely will save us some money. I have been a Service Champions customer for a little over a year and find their service outstanding, Recently I had asked them to provide me a quote to replace my water heater when they came for my 6 months service. The Tech Joey Mangano was very knowledgeable and found a few problems with my furnace that in my mind made sense to replace the whole unit because it was over 15 years old. So Joey worked out a package deal for a new water heater, and furnace and also a replacement of all my ducts as they had asbestos on them. In a few days an installation crew arrived, the day after an asbestos removal team had cleaned out my attic of the contaminated ducts. The Team lead was Oscar and he had a crew of three young guys, Pat, Nam and Fausto. They proceeded to break up the work among themselves with 2 installing new ducts and the others working on removing and replacing my furnace and water heater. This was a hard working team that worked non stop until the job was done. They were all very professional and you could see that they took pride in their work. Oscar and the others still made the time to answer any questions I had as they went about their work, The work of these men will assure my continued patronage of Service Champions and I highly recommend the company. read more
