I would like to update my previous review - it seems that was an unanticipated super busy night for the business, Jennifer (the owner) proactively reached out to me right after she investigated why the wait was over an hour long for one pizza that was ordered via their website. Her explanation made sense, and she shared steps with me on how moving forward - this wouldn't happen again to other customers. To top it off, I received a gift card to try their pizza again. I went a few days ago and my pizza was ready (this time I called their number instead of placing an order - the online ordering platform kept giving me an error message) for me! I ordered their specialty half and half (The Works is amazing) - the other half, the Hawaii 5-0 was missing pineapples unfortunately and I didn't check until I got home (that was on me). I'm confident third time is the charm and will return. A friend recommended this place to meet up with our kids and it was a good enough atmosphere. They had slices on the ready which is so clutch when you have a toddler who can't wait for the pizza to get out of the oven. We were there at 6:30 on a Friday night so couldn't grab a low top table. We had to use the high top bar seating in the back to accommodate 7 adults and 4 toddlers. The staff were super nice and I'm they're used to kids darting around them while they're carrying trays of pizzas! The pizzas were good but not great. They were delicious hot but once it cooled a bit, they weren't as good and seemed to go dry. However they did have these pizza pockets like mini calzones which were terrific and moist. Sgt Pepperoni's is a great place to eat pizza immediately. I've had SPs a couple times and each time I ate at their location, the pizza was perfectly hot and tasted great! I HIGHLY recommend the Meatball/Ricotta pizza as well as the pinwheels. Ask for marinara sauce with the pinwheels. I used to be a Pepperoni only person but now my number one choice is meatball/ricotta. The only reason this got a 4 instead of a 5 is because the pizza does not taste good after going cold. Let this be known, redemption has been made! I've gotten the pepperoni pizza (extra pepperoni) and pepperoni pinwheel time & time again. First the fact they use the small pepperoni is awesome. The crust has a great crunch throughout. DO NOT eat the entire pizza the same day. Save a few slices for the next day to preheat in your toaster oven. You will not regret it. This place makes sure that when you order extra pepperoni, you get EXTRA pepperoni! The pepperoni pinwheel has a good amount of cheese, and very filling. I also got a Cesar salad. Nothing out of the universe, but nothing bad either. It did do the job! Parking a the Irvine location is plentiful. The place used to be Gina's pizza, so the space inside is a good size. Let me say that I have what can only be described as "substantial experience" with the location in Newport Beach on Bristol (the original location). I've tried many of their crusts and pies, and I am a big fan. I was invited for a corporate event to this Irvine location, and I'm now a fan of two of their locations. The pizzas here are creative as well as delicious. The decor here is very clean and bright, and the service is great. They even have gluten-free pizza crusts, which made my dining companion happy. There are garlic knots, and chicken wings, and pinwheels, which are all good. Plenty more parking at this location than at the newport beach location (as far as the immediately adjoining lot). About a couple of weeks ago I had been craving pizza for a while. Now eating pizza for me is a little tricky these days because technically I'm a better person when I eat vegan and my tummy thanks me for it afterwards so I try to eat as clean as I can even though I sometimes eat outside the vegan box. After checking Yelp I found this pizza store that happen to have vegan options, Sgt. Pepperoni's Pizza Store (SPPS), and decided to give it a try! The young lady and young man at the counter were very helpful and answered any inquiries we had while ordering. We decided to order a Build Your Own Pizza with sausage, ham, spinach, purple onions, olives, half pepperoni (my husband likes pepperoni), mushrooms, Parmesan Cheese and Vegan Mozzarella cheese; it was Follow Your Heart Cheese and we do like their cheese)! Now when we inquired about the Parmesan Cheese, for some reason shredded Parmesan Cheese and Mozzarella does not usually upset my stomach like a lot of other dairy cheeses; however the young lady explained that it wasn't shredded Parmesan it was the powdered grated Parmesan. She also explained that the powdered Parmesan usually becomes a part of the sauce and tastes a bit creamy. Now I'm usually not a fan of grated Parmesan for that reason but we decided to give it a try. Oh well; still not a fan and I hate to say it but there are a couple other factors that I feel is worth mentioning to give you a good idea of a SPPS pizza. The crust is really thin and doesn't seem to support too many toppings. The red sauce is very light and that Parmesan cheese just seemed to blend in making it like a creamy Parmesan sauce; not what I wanted on my pizza. I actually did read someone else express in their review that they wanted more red sauce on their pizza and describe the Parmesan Cheese as creamy; we have to learn to believe what we read. The other ingredients on the pizza were all fresh and good overall; it was just not what I was looking for to satisfy that pizza craving. We really did enjoy the house salad we ordered and felt we got a lot for our money! Lastly as I've mentioned in many prior reviews customer service is just as important to me as the quality of the food that is served and again the customer service was exceptional! We had to go back several times to get one thing or another and they never made us feel like we were annoying them and always provided that extra salad dressing, more napkins, red peppers, etc... with a smile. I'm a Pizza Heaux but I'm not one for comparing pizza spots though:p I've had Sgt. Pepperoni on my list for years. I honestly don't know why I never been but then again the one in Costa Mesa is awkward to get in and out of. So when the one on campus opened, I jumped on that! Everything I've had here is so damn good. Even the buffalo chicken pizza. I don't even like buffalo chicken dishes LOL but the picture kept calling my name! I love how you can order any of their usual suspects as a slice. I tore into that in the car and it was soooooo good. Their wings are nicely charred, the pinwheels are packed with all the listed ingredients, the cheesecake is CRACK! I had low expectations on that ! Mama's was even good and I usually don't like meatless pizza unless it's basic bitch cheese. I really enjoy their food, so much I wanted it again the next day LOL. Sgt pepperonis is without a doubt the best pizza in Orange County. I've been to both the location near bristol and then also to the slightly new one near uci. I absolutely love this place. Their pizzas never disappoints. They have so many different options that it's so hard to decide what slices to get. I've never had a type that I didn't love. Found this place on accident just up the street from the hotel I was staying at. The service was quick and the beer while I was waiting was so cold. I had to run an errand after picking up the order so the pizza stayed in the box about 20 minutes and was still delicious. Finally! They open another location closer to me! This place is located in a plaza with plenty of parking and its close to UCI! Service was fast and quick. Dang good pizza. We came to this location after an event at the local park. We ordered a few pizzas, some garlic knots, salads, and sandwiches. I'm not going to lie, but the pepperoni pizza was fuego. Delicious, crunchy pepperoni. Big slices that reminded me of a pizza the ninja turtles would devour. A definite must come back if we are back in the arena or visiting the esports arena at UCI. Also the food was so good, I didn't even get to snap a picture of it. Good food and a cool ambiance. 10/10 pizza my hubby and I enjoy the half bbq chicken and half pepperoni and jalapeño, the dough is always so yummy and crunchy you can tell it's fresh. The ingredients they offer are fresh & not too pricey to add into your pizza. They'll sometimes have seasonal cheesecakes which is my favorite part of going here cause you never know what they'll have as a special. The staff is always so polite and funny.
