This place is great with fast service too. I will say that they're a bit more on the expensive side, but the meat quality is pretty solid. I want to note that this is NOT an AYCE place for anyone who was wondering. I usually just get their beef toro because I'm cheap, but one day I'll need to try their A5 Wagyu. The skinny: good food but poor organization for now. When I called to make a reservation they said that the place was under new management but I didn't understand the comment they made about the food. Once we got there I understood. All those pictures you see on Yelp are from the old menu. The new menu only contains shabu for the main meal. We didn't have much of a problem with that. However after ordering there was a lot of random wait time and confusion. Half of our table didn't get their veggie trays until much later. I wish they could have been direct and told us what the problem could have been. It's understandable that since everyone is new they may have hiccups but we had to just wait and weren't given a reason. The place wasn't busy either and there seemed to be plenty of staff so this wait was baffling. Once we got our full food though things looked better. The base soups are good and the veggies were fresh. We all enjoyed our foods. The two side dressings (sweet sesame and ponzu) were yum as well. You do get a bowl of rice with your shabu and the veggies come along with tofu and two types of noodle (glass and udon). I feel that the prices were slightly high for the amount of food but maybe that's how much shabus run for? The staff ( and I think owners) knew about their shortcomings and they were extra attentive to our group. Fyi groups of 6 or more automatically have an 18% tip added to their bill. All in all a decent experience once we got our food. This place will probably become better as they get settled. It honestly didn't taste bad, but you would think if you paid $75 for two people that the protein would be a little more. we got the spicy miso tonkotsu and sukiyaki and both of the broth was solid, it's just the protein that was lacking. One thing that bothered me is that they were playing the uncensored versions of a lot of pop songs while there were children dining in with their families. I wouldn't mind if it's just an occasional cuss word that gets slipped in, but when the CHORUS is ariana going "f**k me 'till the daylight", and there's young children around, you should probably change the song! I came here for dinner with a pretty large group (we took up like half the restaurant) and was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting just some usual Chinese-Korean food, but this place is so much more -- it's SO good! Great for groups of 4 (perfect for sharing and portions are big). - Spicy Seafood Hot Pot ($17.99) - I've never had jjampong like this! It was a new experience and definitely very flavorful, packed with delicious veggies and seafood. It's your typical hot pot, but the soup broth is full of all the spicy seafood-y goodness. Pretty big serving. I'd say it's good for 3-4 people to share if you order other dishes to eat as well. - Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup ($9.99) - If you're not feeling like having hot pot, you can also order the noodle soup already cooked in a bowl. I believe the individual bowl order comes with some different ingredients that aren't in the hot pot. It's still super good and really big! - Black Bean Noodles - Delicious! Great portions (I think two people can share). It also comes topped off with an egg. - Deep Fried Shrimp with Chili Sauce ($17.99) - Delicious! Shrimp was fried nicely and the sauce was sweet with a little bit of tangy-ness. There were also some big pieces of shrimp, great portions! I came here with a buddy last week for dinner. The food quality was great. When you walk in you look at the menu and there's shabu shabu options in Medium or Large size. It's difficult to gauge when it's your first time of what size to exactly order. They also have a sushi menu as well for rolls, nigiri and hand rolls so it all depends on whether you want to order just the Shabu Shabu, or if you want to mix and match with sushi dishes or appetizers from the kitchen. We went ahead with the Large Shabu Shabu (which doesn't even look large at all when it comes out mind you) and we each hand a sushi hand roll and shared one large Asahi beer. This was the perfect amount of food between the two of us. Highly recommend trying this place out. The table on the very right when you walk in against the corner has odd spacing. When you sit on the bench against the wall, the space where you sit and where the table is -is VERY wide making it awkward for anyone to sit, enjoy and eat your food. I suggest you avoid that table. I'm not being a stickler, it's just legit weird and whoever installed that table totally messed up on the spacing, lol. Service was okay, but they can work on being more attentive. read more

It's also unprofessional to try and call the customer to ask to take the review down and to result to such a reply that's different from what was discussed. --- ... I have tried to give this place so many chances because this is the only hotpot place available in the Chino Hills vicinity. Today I ordered and got takeout of my usual two short ribs with the spicy miso tonkatsu soup... and after emptying the styrofoam of most vegetables .. I noticed tiny black dots. As I looked closely I realized they were tiny beetles!!! I told my family to stop eating and started looking closely at the soup which was by now filled with the vegetables that we already had mostly consumed and started to see tiny specs floating around which I first thought was sesame seeds... Once I started spooning them out and looking closely at them I realized they were tiny insects again. But this time 8... from just scooping them floating around. How many did we eat?!... Banchan was small with only three sides (got lucky and had a fourth unique side when we asked for a more). Has two TVs and two projectors. All were stationed to the same football game. Staff is friendly. Took a while getting the check. But I think they just forgot. Parking is average and shared with other vendors of the retail plaza. All-in-all: I see myself returning to try out their AYCE hot pot. Really well priced at either $25 or $30 per person (don't remember since I didn't order it). Remember: food adventures are out there. Literally just hot water with 2-3 pieces of seaweed/kelp. Like WHERE IS THE FLAVOR?!? It's not even salty!!! Even the tonkatsu soup base was completely watery and flavorless. They are also super stingy with the base ingredient you get with the pot. If you want hot pot just go to Boiling Point, Pot on Fire or Pop Pot. If you want the shabu shabu experience there's definitely far better options in Diamond Bar or Rowland Height. The first time i came here i had their emperor seafood hot pot which was delicious. They only have a single size for all emperor hot pots. It more than enough for a single person, I shared it with my boyfriend and ordered extra meat. The customer service is great here. He took our order and being Shabu snobs, asked for minced garlic, green onions etc., had to call him over to order additional add ons. He forget extra napkins, rice, felt the vibe he was getting annoyed but NOT MY PROBLEM if you keep forgetting and I have to keep asking. Everything is ALA CARTE. The prices for the proteins were surprising to say the least. I figured the portions would be decent. Now I've been eating shabu shabu all my life, eating at all the top spots and let me tell you, their portion was a small based on the other places I go; my all time fave in OC called YUZU has 2 mixed servings for WAGYU for $78. So I'm comparing top quality establishment here... the sides of veggies came out and I was so shocked I had to take pics. We ordered additional sides, those were satisfactory. I base my review on the quality of service, food, proportion and pricing. I'm giving 2 stars only because the meal was ok. Later on the lady came by asking if we needed anything and our broth was getting low. It was very low to begin with. She walked away then got sidetracked by other customers and was literally talking to them for over 10 minutes. Sitting on the booth side, it's uncomfortable because it's far from the table (you cannot move closer) the pot seemed deep because the broth was about 1/4 of the pot. They literally gave a ridiculous portion of enoki (without the bottom cut off) and unbelievably skimped on the udon and glass noodles. The glass noodles got lost in the broth because there were so few. You'd think they knew how to multitask. They didn't. My family owns multiple restaurants locally so I know the ins and out from the floor, register, kitchen etc., but they completely lacked in all aspects. Never coming back. Our meal including 15% tip (I usually tip way more) came out to $120. Totally not worth it. Maybe Chino/Chino Hills do not know quality Shabu. I used to frequent with the former owner and loved the handmade noodles with black bean sauce. Total downgrade from the original Wara. We always get the cheesy chicken here. It's so good! I suggest you share because it's pretty filling for at least 3-4 people. It comes with rice balls (furikake flakes included) and it's so delicious when paired with the cheesy chicken. The dan dan mien here is also a favorites dish here. Two others in the party tasted the short rib and had mild symptoms while the person who ordered it, was pretty ill the next day. They used to have the most amazing hand made noodles but now they don't. It also seemed like she didn't even want to serve us after. And she kept saying how am I supposed to serve you guys? Also, our dogs were small Pomeranians and a golden retriever. None of the dogs lunged at her or anything. I do I Understand peoples phobias, fears, past experiences, but it made the experience unpleasant, However they are all super friendly and informative. She said the first broth is pretty much water and seaweed and explained to me the differences in meat marbling. The broths were all amazing. Water comes in a bottle with red cups.
