Stopped in here on Saturday just before the lunch rush, I am glad we did there was a line out the door by the time we finished. Staff was good with checking in on us throughout the meal. I ordered an omelet with hash browns (extra crispy) there was a lot of food and the hash browns were cooked up to where I like them.

Stopped in here with friends after a 5k. The place was fairly busy, but we were seated quickly. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered pork belly and chorizo breakfast tacos. The tacos were great, but the hash browns were hash burnt. My friend had asked for his hash browns to be extra crispy and I must have gotten his as the ones on his plate were just as I like them. Mine were pressed very thin and very crunchy. Well, the tacos made up for it and next time I plan to try their Belgian waffle to see how it is.

Went for brunch. Love all the creative names for their plates. Atmosphere is casual relaxed. I had the Shrimping ain't easy skillet. I was a bit disappointed because the whole dish was extremely greasy. I could not even find the cheddar cheese grits in the skillet. There was very little , little sized shrimps. It was heavy on the peppers and pork belly which maybe the reason it was overly greasy. Even the base hash browns were greasy. I would not recommend this dish. My hubs got the build your own plate which had generous portions just nothing outstanding taste wise. Our food came out super fast which maybe precooked. Our server was friendly.

Shack could be sooooo much better, and given that they have great spot in a great location, one would hope that they would improve. The space is amazing, from the living graffiti walls to the decor to the higher ceilings. There is plenty of seating, including the bar area, and even a wait time is not uncomfortable. Even with a great space, the service staff seems to be disorganized in the front part of the house. I can't put my finger on it, but it is almost as if they struggle to have a host function or even a host. But you're here for the food, and the menu is really strong. Breakfast options galore, some decent lunch options, and a strong bar menu makes for a great lineup. But the food does not stand out and it doesn't seem to have been made to my order. That's fine if I'm ordering at a fast food drive-thru; if I'm seated, then I want my order to be made correctly and served in a timely fashion. And I am FAR from *that* guy, generally not one to raise a fuss. Maybe I should, but I won't. Just know that I liked Shack once upon a time and it seems to have slipped. SW JoCo has plenty of customers with free time and healthy wallets, so my three stars is more my way of being generous and hopeful than a true reflection of my experience.

First time customer while visiting the area and I loved this place. The atmosphere is very cute and interesting. The menu is soooooo funny and interesting with great names for all the items. There is a great variety from which to choose. I ordered the sandwich that had a pretzel bun, two eggs cooked your way, bacon, avocado, salsa, cheese and garlic aioli. I can't remember the name but it was a funny one. We didn't wait long and our food arrived. Mine wasn't very hot, but the flavors together were very good. I really liked my choice. Service was ok. I did like the fact that they gave us a whole pot of coffee so we didn't have to wait for refills.

Tasty breakfast and I loved all of the options. In fact, it was pretty impossible to decide on just one thing!! I landed on the protein bowl, packed with quinoa, eggs, avocado and smoked turkey. Delicious!! The egg was cooked to order - a nice touch. This is an excellent restaurant for a leisurely brunch. One thing I didn't like was the temperature. It was so cold while we were there that my fingertips turned blue.

If I could put 10 stars I would!!! First things first, this 80's girl LOVED the music and the menu vibe. Such great names for every item. I ordered breakfast after taking 20 minutes to decide. I definitely need to come back to try more things. I'm still dancing in my seat to the music- thanks for the great meal and the

We had forgotten just how good Shack is for breakfast. Our daughter was in town from Chicago and wanted to have a great breakfast. I had the breakfast tacos (pork belly) and they were amazing. My wife had the Nashville Hot Chicken and loved it. Our daughter ordered the biscuits and gravy and said they were fantastic. Our waitress (Mercedes) was very busy, but she was attentive and checked in on us frequently to make sure our breakfast was to our liking. We did enjoy reading all the "Crayon Graffiti" on the walls. It's a cool way for kids and kids at heart to further enjoy the experience. We won't wait so long between visits! Definitely a great place for breakfast.

I could spend the day just reading the menu! This is such a lay back yet creative place! The wait staff really seem to enjoy their jobs and the food is delish! If you're looking for g for a fun new restaurant, this is the place for you! We like the "I almost made it to Denver" omelette and the "Do it your way Meg Ryan"!

Great place in Lenexa for lunch or breakfast. Their service is super fast & food excellent. Bring a pencil to graffiti the wall!

We love grabbing a work lunch here. Our server Sheree was great! I love that they have a large GF menu- so many choices. Their menu has fun and funny names for dishes. It's a super fun atmosphere where people have signed every surface they could possibly sign.

    BIG A#! BURRITO

The ambiance is fun but busy and the regular menu is HUGE. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his burrito. As a celiac I was very excited for the dedicated gluten free menu but was a little bummed as it was a lot of eggs (which is bad for many celiacs too). The gluten free lunch menu looked delicious but was not served on the weekend. Great service though and fun spot.

Visiting Kansas and had to stop by Shack. I recommend ordering the Gringo Killer, Starchy & Cluck, and Spicy About Mary. The Gringo Killer has a nice spice kick and the Starchy & Cluck was both savory and sweet. I would've loved more of the aioli within the waffles of the Starchy & Cluck. The Spicy About Mary has such a great zesty and spicy peppery flavor. I love the Zing Zang mix. The service was prompt and attentive. The location is kinda tucked away, wish more people knew about this location. Give this location a visit!

Before we left the hostess person who failed to see the need to step out of her box and wait on patrons had time to smooch her beau who came in after us and was served breakfast at the bar before we got our food. So disappointed. We recommend the Shawnee location but not the Lenexa location.

The ancho woodfired chicken salad -- charred corn, black beans,…read morecotija, crisp tortilla strips, chipotle-honey vinaigrette -- had the right balance of smoky, sweet, and crunchy, and the chicken itself was cooked perfectly. The other standout was the raspberry coconut chicken: crispy coconut-breaded tenders draped in a raspberry coulis with toasted almonds on top, sitting over a creamy slaw. Sweet and savory done right, though heads up if you're dairy-sensitive -- that slaw is loaded. Portions are generous, flavors are bold without being over the top, and everything tasted made-to-order rather than assembly-line. Will definitely be back to work through the rest of the menu. Eventually the get us seated in the main area. My wife ordered mashed potatoes and green beans as sides, and the mashed potatoes were cold. They took those back to fix, so we each tried some of her green beans. We both looked at each other in shock and said "These taste like fish!" Plus they were cold, so cold fish green beans. So when they brought out the warmed mashed potatoes we mentioned that, and they grabbed those to fix up, and asked us to check our steak. They were supposed to be medium, but were rare. So they took the steaks and my fries (the only thing edible so far). After 10 minutes the steaks were back, and looked good, along with a new order of the green beans, and we each got a replacement flame singed sliver of bread. So we taste the green beans, and now they taste like warm fish. So we got the manager again and I asked if they ever taste any of this stuff, and she didn't really know what to say. She said they'd take it off our bill, and we could have a free desert. Okay so back to the steaks, which were cooked right but too salty now. And that's when I realized they never brought back my fries. So we flag them down again, and eventually get the fries, which are good. The desert menu is a bunch of uninteresting goo, but we settle on something and get it to go. I pay the bill, tip 20%, and we get the heck out. Later we realize that they had accidentally added another steak entree to out order, then credited it off, just like the green beans and "free" desert, but their little machine calcutes the tip off the total before credits, so I actually payed a 50% tip. Unreal.

This spot is owned by the same team behind Kate's Kitchen up north--which I've always found fantastic--and I'm happy to report this location is on that same elite wavelength. The Experience: The atmosphere is clean and impressively airy, making for a great morning vibe. Both the hostess and server were exceptionally engaging, even providing a personal water pitcher for the table--a small touch that makes a huge difference. The Food: Chicken Fried Chicken: This is the real deal. It was clearly prepared fresh, not frozen, which is a rarity these days. The Sides: The home potatoes were perfectly crispy, and the gravy was thick, peppery, and hit all the right notes. The Biscuit: This "super-sized" biscuit was essentially the icing on the cake. The Eggs: I ordered my eggs poached soft. They arrived a bit too soft (runny yolk was the goal, but these were just under), though in fairness, that's likely on me for the specific request! Verdict: If you want a breakfast that feels home-cooked with high-quality ingredients and attentive service, this is the place. I'll definitely be back for their famous French toast and medium poached eggs .

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

Many, MANY thanks to Robert, who seated us, took our order, brought our food out, and settled our bill. He was friendly, efficient, and so welcoming. It was a joy to watch him work; he made sure to greet each and every customer coming in the door, and was consistently so upbeat and positive. And many, MANY thanks to Tony at the grill! Our food was FANTASTIC!! I have high standards for Mediterranean food, and the falafel wrap was totally delicious! The falafel itself was perfectly cooked, with a crispy outer layer, and the other ingredients in the wrap were chosen for a perfect melding of flavors. I had the side salad, with homemade Thai peanut dressing, and it was equally tasty. My husband had the patty melt, which came on homemade bread (!) and was, per his report, perfectly done. The open reception area and kitchen/grill make it easy for the staff to respond to what's happening in the dining room (e.g., new folks arriving). The menu has lots of options, from standard pub fare to housemade pizza to some rather artisanal salads. I'd suggest the chicken sandwich, hand-breaded and fantastic. Or even the Hinkle, roast beef & thinly cut pork tenderloin with a sweet pepper aioli, is a fabulous sandwich. But don't miss that happy hour from 2:00-6:00 on weekdays. The smashburger special runs $6 for a single, and even that is a fair-sized burger, and maybe share a side with someone special. Secret of the pros: get two patties, because it's worth the extra $3 and it's sensational. If there is any knock, then it might be the speed of service. Having stopped in several times, I don't think I have ever had the kind of turnaround that I can get many other places. But the food often makes it worth the wait, so I can only knock it for one star. Pricing is fair and certainly on the level with the area, parking is shared with other spots along the strip, and the atmosphere is wonderful. There are a TON of TVs in all directions, and you can even sit on the patio in nicer weather. It's a neighborhood spot with great food, great atmosphere, and great specials. Get there.
