Fast, friendly, and delicious. I am a huge fan and would recommend it to anyone who would love a great breakfast.

I was disappointed because one of my favorite things about American breakfast places is the amount of food they give you, and I feel like I paid $7 for one waffle with a bit of jam on top. My mom got an omelet and that looked a lot more filling for not too much more money. The hot chocolate was yummy and I love that you can write on the walls, it's so fun and unique! Our server was nice, and we were even given a free iced coffee because they made an extra. Too bad none of our table drink coffee, so we had to give it back! read more

My wife and I have been to "The Shack" a number of times and enjoyed it until today (1/29/23). We know that they close at 2:00, we arrived at 1:35 and were summarily told that they were closed. No sign on the door, no amended answering message, door was unlocked; just a young lady with a broom and a dust pan. Believe me I do not believe that this anyway to run a business. We will never darken their doors again..at any of their locations. I'm sorry that we were treated that way because we did enjoy our previous breakfast experiences at The Shack. read more

How in the world is this place a franchise. The lunch menu is very limited. I ordered a Reuben sandwich with a side of brussels sprouts. The Reuben was OK at best, certainly nothing special - boring and not much flavor. The brussels sprouts were plain boiled with some cheese sprinkled on top. Could only choke down a few. Would never return again. This place makes Subway look like gourmet food. read more

We have been going to the Shack since it first opened. We've since gone to each location and the service, quality of food and pricing remains consistent at each. My husband loves the Meg Ryan and I am partial to the Mommy Where Does Bacon Come From. Whatever you order, you cannot go wrong! Kid and infant friendly! My thoughts on The Shack are similar to graffiti (which adorns so much of its interior and I guess stands in for decor). It's uninspired and mostly sucks, and could have used some more thought. I've never waited so long for something so mediocre. The staff was very nice though. read more

The food here was okay. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs over hard and I know they are trying to put some humor into their menu descriptions but it tasted like it was described. The country fried steak was described as not made here and it tasted like it. It tasted like a premade frozen item that was thawed and fried. The steak was thin, and the breading was compacted. To be far their gravy was good it had large chunks of meat in. The eggs were overly greasy and over cooked. The items that were ordered from the kids menu were fine from those that got it. This place is ALWAYS busy. If you want to eat here anytime after 7am on a Saturday or Sunday you better throw yourself on their Yelp waitlist. That being said, it is SO worth it. All of their food has fun, quirky names, and the taste lives up to it. Their "Why the French Hate Us" is a personal favorite, and they legitimately have the best corned beef hash I have ever eaten in my life. read more

We went for breakfast and this place has a personality of its own and it's hilarious. The menu has unique names for the food and the food has great portion sizes. Coffee mugs even have funny sayings on them. Staff is nice and welcoming and the timing of the food was great. We'll definitely be back! read more

I'm not a huge breakfast eater but The Shack is probably my favorite breakfast place if for no other reason than you can get in line online. I refuse to wait 2 hours to eat brunch! I've had several things here and everything has been delicious. You really can't go wrong. However portion sizes are HUGE so I highly recommend sharing with a friend or being prepared to take leftovers home. read more

Solid breakfast place in Lenexa/Olathe area. I prefer this to first watch. Good cocktail selection (they are a little pricier). Hash browns are amazing! Everything else is average but all in all a good option. I also really enjoyed their iced coffee and it was reasonably priced, would like it if they offered refills on it. Could've drank two glasses! The menu is also very fun! The names of the entrees are really creative. Service is very meh. They are quick getting your food out, but once your waiter has taken your order and gotten drinks they are pretty scarce. read more

NOT COVID FRIENDLY! We expected them take the basic necessary precautions but it felt like we were back in pre covid times. There was absolutely zero social distancing enforced, the staff were not wearing their masks properly (showing their noses), they weren't using paper menus but regular menus that were not being sanitized, and when we saw people leaving they didn't even bother to properly sanitize the tables before having other guests come in. Horrible experience! There are also three locations of this place and I've heard they're all the same when it comes to covid precautions. Be careful! :( read more

I had the breakfast burrito and it was delish. I tried to come in a second time and there were around 10-12 people waiting for a table. The host didnt acknowledge me as i walked in and i had to say one plush a high chair. She said to me oh that will be over an hour. The other host said no it wont maybe like 30 mins and the first one looked back at me and said 45 mins, did you want to wait? to me it felt like they didnt want us there so we left. i get wait times but dont make me feel like i shouldn't wait that long. We put ourselves on the waitlist and ended up having to wait over an hour for our table once we got to the restaurant. Total of 1 hour and 45 minutes waiting for a table with a continual promise that it would only be another 10 minutes..... The hostess kept sitting smaller tables immediately, even those that came in without using the waitlist. In no world should it have taken that long. We even saw several tables that would have worked. Look, I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews. But I believe this is worth noting for anyone at Shack who can fix this problem. I joined the online waitlist, and it told me that the wait would be about an hour. I kept checking and it would update periodically shortening the time. Once it hit 15 minutes everyone packed up and headed to the restaurant. We got there and the hostess said it would be a 2-hour wait. I mentioned the online waitlist and she said that it is not synced with the actual wait time. We were all irritated that we wasted our time and left to go find somewhere else to eat. To anyone who works at Shack that is in charge of the online waitlist app, please fix this so no one else has to waste their time. read more

Hurray ! A home run addition to Lnxa/Shawnee dining options! We had an amazing breakfast on the peaceful spacious patio. Hubs had a monstrosity fried chicken/b&g/eggs/hashbrown combo. Biscuits that were at least a day old and not even re-heated. Gravy was cold. Like, less than 80 degrees. Sausage patties were clearly re-heated, soggy and spongey. If you're a breakfast restaurant, why are you using McDonalds sausage patties and not making biscuits fresh??? I was too scared to even try my eggs, and even the hash browns were somehow over-cooked on the outside and under-cooked on the inside. Server was kind, and quick to check in upon being sat at my table, and that's the ONLY reason I'm giving them one star. Just terrible read more

Have been here twice now and enjoyed very much. While they do t take reservations, they do have an automated waitlist that worked very well and we actually ended up getting seated about 10 minutes before our target time. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was fabulous! Becoming one of my favorite places to come for gluten-free options. Only disappointment was a fruit bowl ordered by my mother-in-law and the only fruits they had available were blueberries and strawberries. She is allergic to strawberries so that left with a rather expensive bowl full of blueberries wasn't a huge deal but guessing it was a supply chain issue. We will still be back very soon. read more

Had a similar experience to what others have said. Got in the online waitlist and waited around 2hrs at home. When it said 15 minutes remaining we headed over to the restaurant. Then we still waited over an hour in the restaurant lobby, as did many others around us. They really need to fix their check-in system so that they aren't wasting peoples time. This particular location also doesn't seem to have much seating for groups with more than 4. We had 4 adults and 2 children. Ultimately just asked them to give us a booth and crammed in. All that aside, we did enjoy the food. And it came out quickly once seated and ordered. read more
