We didn't realize the dishes didn't come with rice, and they didn't ask us if we wanted any bread, so we had to ask to add those onto our order after the food came. More experienced servers would have asked. Food: 3 stars. We had the Naurattan Korma and the Curry Pakoda. Both were ok. The curry was oddly lemony, which my partner liked, but I found it strange. The Korma was not what I'd consider Naurattan, maybe there are regional differences? In both cases, it was a lot of sauce and not much contents. Very little in the way of vegetables, and I'm used to having Naurattan Korma with nuts in it. The rice and naan were both good. Ambiance: 3 stars. We had a nice booth all to ourselves, but the places was busy and kind of loud. Puzzled as to why we didn't have a better experience here, since Yelpers seemed to like it. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things - we saw many other tables ordering what looked like meat. But if you're going to have vegetarian dishes on the menu, you should have vegetables on hand. Delicious Indian food with perfect spicing. We've been wanting to try the place since it's very close to home. We came on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. The waiters worked as a team, and did a great job. We ordered different things to share, and enjoyed everything! The samosas where excellent, with a wonderful crispy exterior and yummy sauces. We got the palak paneer, the goat curry special, the chicken tikka kabob and the rice and naan. Everything was very tasty and came to the perfect amount for 3 of us. We ordered Gobi Manchurian (8/10) Amritsar sag (8/10) chicken tikka masala (7/10) Veg Biriyani (7/10) . So overall food was 7/10. Now to not so good part Even though restaurant was 70% empty they would not let me sit on a table which was away from the main door . They wanted me to sit right next to door and on a cold day I did not want to sit there coz of cold air hitting us whenever somebody opened the door. They gave me some excuse that it was reserved and all that. I insisted I needed to sit away from door and they agreed ultimately. Ordered a Taj Mahal beer and the guy brings me cold (almost on the warm side) not chill beer which I promptly returned. The guy agreed that the beer he gave me was in fridge for only 10-15 mins. Asked for cut onions and pickles on the side that guy said they ran out of cut onions. Then the guy forgot to bring raitha along with biryani which again I had to remind him to bring. The tandoor roti that I ordered came with dripping butter (remember this is supposed to be plain tandoor roti not butter tandoor roti). By this time I was so tired of asking him again and again I just ate it without returning and asking for a new plain roti. This was the first time I've had chaat. We ordered Samosa Chaat, Pani Puri, and Papdi Chaat. It was all fun and yummy! Our server was so helpful, but I did have to laugh inside. I asked for some Indian tea, but they were out. I asked if there was anything with caffeine and he offered a Mango Lassi. I had to giggle! The essence of mango hits you just before the glass touches your lips and as soon as you take a sip the yogurty goodness (yeah, I know that's not a word) puts a huge smile on your taste buds. We had a veggie dish, a goat curry, garlic naan, butter chicken, and a chicken thigh kabob. Today we came to our favorite Indian restaurant. Since server Mr. KUSH is no longer here the customer service was mediocre. They had no ice, quite a few of the menu selections were not available. We asked server for fish pakora (fried fish appetizer) he said they were out of fish. But i could order fish curry. Omg! NO FISH!!! LOL. Unfortunately the first server did not speak English very well. So he sent another server. It was the new server who told us they were out of fish. This place was really great. The palak paneer was my choice and it was among the best greens paneer I've ever had. I think it was the mustard greens supplementing the spinach, though the sauce was well designed. Also the appetizer - that dahi batata sev puri - was exquisite with its crispy shells, smooth filling, sweetness from which seemed to include pomegranates and the mini sev topping. The garlic naan was unusually light & flaky with a tad of darkening from the oven and a balance of the garlic and herb. I had no problem with the service; they didn't hover but didn't put me off when I motioned for some help. I really wanted to give 5 stars ( I loved the Chana Masala last time). I guess I should try the other dishes as well, but the Chana Masala was so good last time, that I wanted that again. But today...it was missing a little something? maybe the Tomato did not taste as strong. Maybe it needed a little Lemon ( i dont know) but the Chana Masala was so rich last time ( with tomato) but this time seem to just have less flavour. i think I should have ask for lemon (or onion?) My Dad was taking forever to order. I guess he does not know indian food very well so he took his time looking at menu. They got pretty busy after Dad look at menu for 5 to 7 minutes. Maybe that is why the Chana Masala was not as good as last time. i recommend going on weekday? When they are less busy. My Dad want to order the lamb kebab ( or goat) I forgot which one, but I told Dad it was mince meat ( he does not know what it is). I used to work for a MiddleEastern place in Canada and i made Kofta/Kafta or it was mince meat kebab so I did not want him to order thinking it was whole meat ( & not know mince meat). But he also got the Garlic butter Bread (Naan?) I forgot & it was so good with the butter. I also liked the Jeera Rice. Maybe next time I will take my time to look at Menu or try something else. I should have tried butter chicken but I think I found Mint ( near where we live) they just open buffet so maybe try that. But they have good prices here so if we have chance come to Sunnyvale again, next time I will study menu better or ask waiter but he was busy today. Oh, Dad ordered Chili Chicken I think. My husband and I went to get dinner yesterday after I checked restaurant reviews. We ordered chicken tikka, lamb, and veggie biryani. When we were ordering he told us that the chicken takes longer , so do you want everything together? We agreed. Then my husband asked for appetizer and Nan while waiting. We waited for pretty long time around 20 minutes , then we called the person Who got our order, to ask him why are things taking too long , even for the appetizer . He came back and said they will bring it. After a while we receive the chicken, but it was the main order that I requested . When we called him , he realized the mistake and apologized then we cancelled the appetizer till they get us the full meal. Which took much longer. We called him again, to check what was the problem , them they brought the whole meal at last! The second issue was not acceptable to me. When we were eating the biriani rice, all the veggies was cut big and the rice was in lumps. Above all the potatoes had bad, black parts (rotten potatoes). I called the man again and he asked me if I want anything instead and I said no. He took the plate and showed it to them in the kitchen and came back apologizing and removing the item from our invoice. The staff is very kind, and even though it can get busy, the food comes out quickly. They will spice your food to your liking, and in our experience medium spice is just enough to flavor the food and create enough heat to make the dishes pop. Horrible restaurant. We went there couple of months back and it was delicious but they cannot keep quality and hygiene. The owner was least bothered. I showed him a small cockroach in the chicken wrap and his response was that we can take it back. He wasn't even sorry. Another family saw this and left immediately. Their attitude is horrible. The staff is sweet but the owner was rude and didn't care. Maybe the owner doesn't care to spend some money on keeping the kitchen clean. How can the chef miss the cockroach ? Went here on a Monday evening. The restaurant is well lit, almost too well lit. Bright orange chairs. It's vibrant, so doesn't have the intimate feel, especially for lunch. We ordered the tandoori mix grill, which takes about 20 mins the server said. It came out sizzling and the 3 different chicken flavors came in 8 pieces, on a bed of onions and bell peppers. The chicken with the green marinade was delicious. Also ordered Kadai chicken (very flavorful) and Makki di Roti (cornbread), which was surprisingly tasty when dipped in the tangy sweet sauce that came with the mix grill. Then we realize we needed rice and had to order a side of Jeera Rice (basmati w/ some cumin seeds). Very tasty meal overall and I will come back to try other dishes.
