Pizza, chicken and mojos! Just add a cold pitcher of beer and you have yourself the perfect meal. I hadn't been to Shakey's Pizza in a such a long time but last nights trip was so worth it for more than one reason. I was helping out the Tiny White Sox little league team. Shakey's does a great job by donating 25% of the proceeds. How awesome is that? Most places only give back 10%. It's everything I remember about it, the flaky thin crust covered with melty cheese and thick pepperonis. The perfectly breaded mojo potatoes ready to dive into a pool of ketchup. The well seasoned chicken that is a treat bite after delicious bite. I used to be a regular of their bunch of lunch crowd back in the days. Inside was also very clean, clearly a priority for the management. I don't go to Shakey's often but I might have to break that habit. read more

Great pizza spot to come on the days they have buffet. Around 11$ bucks per person and it's all you can eat. Great deal if you ask me. Come early cause it does get packed. I just came back from my first bunch of lunch since COVID started and it was amazing. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Food is delicious! But the true hidden gem is their manager (older Asian man) . He is the sweetest person and makes us all feel at home. I cannot stress enough how kind he is. He comes over to check on everyone & is always working so hard. Ordered over the phone and had my sis pick it up. Had a group of hungry volunteers. Order was wrong, asked for original crust, I got thin crust on both pizzas...and worst of all...when all the volunteers had gone, there were a few pieces of pizza left...so I had one while cleaning up and that slice had a long hair. Stopped in on a quiet evening, with already low expectations because it is Shakey's. We're not expecting five-star restaurant coverage, and few of us had returned since we were in the single-digits ages. The atmosphere was quite relaxed, almost dive restaurant feel. Fairly good sized group, at least eight of us. I'd like to say the restaurant was clean, but we had to get someone out to our chosen table to clean up some chicken wings and other food pieces from the floor around one of the seats. The tables were at least wiped down...not sure when, but they were. My friends and I ordered the Rustic Chicken--alfredo sauce instead of tomato, chicken, mushrooms, cilantro--a good hearty alternative to the other pizzas, 2 large orders of Mojo potatoes and an order of cheesy garlic bread. By far, out of all we ordered, the cheesy garlic bread was definitely the best value for the price and quantity given. First, they screwed up the Rustic Chicken pizza order by keying it in as just a 1-topping chicken pizza. It arrived on tomato sauce with no cilantro and no mushrooms. This was fine, but a member of our group is allergic to tomatoes, so it was vital to have the alfredo sauce. It would have been nice if they knew what ingredients went into their pizzas. The time to wait for the pizza was relatively quick, so that wasn't too bad of a complaint. We just got the wrong pizza ingredients on ours. Well, two Rustic Pizzas, so they had two opportunities to get it right. Soda is soda, it's all served up the same way, can't complain there. The fact that the person manning the soda station (because they apparently can't trust customers to do their own soda refills) also had to cover the prize room for the arcade was a little irksome. But, hey, you wait a bit for soda refills because they don't trust you. Never mind that the soda was warm coming out of the dispenser. Grated Parmesan and red pepper flakes are distributed to you in small paper cups, also because they can't trust you by having these available at the table. But, they do have salt and pepper at the table, so there's that. The Mojo potatoes ordered were plentiful and warm, but sub-par on the taste I remembered as a child. Perhaps my tastebuds have matured and I've got adult bland taste now. I'm not sure. Overall, I've had better from Shakey's. This wasn't the great environment I remembered from the late 80s and early 90s. This was a sad shell of a husk of a pizza parlor restaurant. With food on the floor. And wrong ingredients on pizza. It was like the Jim Henson of pizza had died and now we've got wrong-tasting pizza. read more

I don't know why people are rating this place so low. This place is awesome! I've been coming here since I was young and it still has the same awesome ambience it has ever had! The arcade is cool (really tiny though) and it is very spatious. You can throw a party with a large group of guests here or just have a small one with close people. The food here is really good and original. my favorite this here would have to be the mojo potatoes. The pizza and food here are pretty expensive but you get fresh delicious food. The buffet here is pretty cool too. They serve different types of pizzas ( and they are very small slices) so you can choose/ try a variety. The buffet is really cheap compared to other buffet places ( I think it is $7) Awesome place that still continues to be awesome =) ** and to all those who like alcohol with pizza, don't worry this place has you covered. read more

Visited the Whittier Shakeys with my husband, daughters, son-in-law, grand-kids for dinner. I LOVE Shakeys pizza and I have visited a few other Shakeys in Pico Rivera, Norwalk, El Monte, Hollywood...all great restaurants with NO complaints. I was expecting a restaurant style dinner that I was used to from all other Shakeys, complete with pizza delivery to our table, condiment shakers AT THE table, mostly unchipped beer glasses, and a fairly relaxing ambiance, and of course their quality pizza...not alot to ask for on a slow Monday evening. However, I was extremely disappointed by the difference between THIS Shakeys in Whittier and all OTHER Shakeys. Immediately upon walking in you notice a big difference. It seems the owners of this Shakeys are very cheap! You do not have access to refill your own drinks at the fountain, here, you have to walk up to the counter and wait to have a staff member refill your drink. The pizza isn't delivered to your table either, your number gets called out from a loud annoying speaker, then you pick it up yourself. They also do not provide Parmesan and chili pepper shakers to keep at your table, you have to walk up to the counter and have a little ketchup cup filled...makes it difficult to shake it on your pizza from a little cup. Every single beer glass was chipped, EVERY SINGLE ONE!! The salad bar was at least 3-4 times smaller than the other Shakeys. The game room "sucked" according to my kids & grand-kids. The pizza was overcooked too, it cracked at the bottom and pieces fell off. The underside of the pizza was a little burned with blackened parts and it didn't have enough cheese, the bread bubbled through alot of the cheese. The mojos were way undercooked. I don't mind paying for quality food. We spent around $125 on a very disappointing dinner. The lighting was bright, glaring. The flooring is light colored tile, no carpeting like other Shakeys to help keep the noise down so even though there were not alot of customers it was loud, noisy, felt like I was inside a busy Kmart during the holidays. I saw ONE TV, it was so small and we didn't have a good view of it from where we sat, the decor needs some serious updating and some big screen TV's. The young lady that took our order was very nice, very professional, very knowledgeable, and prompt in taking our order. The restaurant was clean. The busboy did a great job bussing the tables. Food was ready fairly quick...15 minutes. However, I will not be back to this Shakeys. read more

Shakeys is So Pricey.. the PCM that was so popular in the 80s or 90s is so over priced and I understand ..times have changed..but if the prices are gonna change so should your game rooms that were super popular at one time obviously before technology took over. If you're gonna go..go during their buffet lunch..maybe you'll get your money's worth. GIft certificates are nice because if you try out a restaurant that ends up not meeting your standards, then you don't feel any regret for spending a hard earned 20 on an unpleasant experience. Case in point: Shakey's. Decided to check it out Thursday night. We ordered the #2 combo: a med. pizza and wings and potatoes (which are called mojos- so we went for it) for about 20 bucks. We sit down and notice that what is lacking in the air is the scent of hot, cheezy, pizza goodness and in it's place is the smell of "old building". 20 minutes later, we pick up our food and dinnerware which consists of 1-ply grocery store bought paper plates. Woops...had to go back for the utencils not given to us the first time. The wings were steamy, tasty, and greasy, with a fried chicken coating. The "mojo" potatoes were large and sliced up nicely. The pizza was nothing more than fair, at best. Not good, but not unedible. Though we did agree that it could possibly compliment 12 or so beers on one of those late nights. Being Chicagoans, we realize it is not fair to compare the infamous pizza we grew up on to most of the pizza here. With that being said, we offer two suggestions: you can drive to Tony's in Placentia for the real deal, or stick to your favorite frozen pizza at your local grocer. Either choice you make will conclude in a better pizza than what you'll find at Shakey's. Although we did not enjoy our food very much, the service was above average. Each employee we encountered was friendly and welcoming. In addition, they have a little game room complete with a prize counter for the kids. read more

Hit Shakey's up last night. My group ordered the following things to go: cheesy garlic bread, large cheese pizza, salad bar to go and Mojo Potatoes. The cheesy garlic bread was more garlicy, less cheesy. This worked for me, because I pick the cheese off anyway. My friend wasn't a huge fan. The Mojo potatoes... maybe they are better if you're not taking them to go. They were kinda soggy and less awesome than I remember them being. They were pretty tasty though, for all that. The pizza was, to quote, "Pretty good, not the best, but pretty good." The salad bar... well, that kinda left something to be desired. I mean, it's cool that you can get it to go, but the toppings were: croutons, mushrooms, huge slices of onion, raisins, pineapple tidbits and black olives. There may have also been bacon bits available, not sure. The lettuce mix was good though - and it was super fresh and crisp, so I was happy enough... but suspect it's not a great choice if someone is in the mood for a proper SALADy salad. Shakey's is a institution that most of us has grown up with! Yes, their food is not the same. It has changed, they have tried to go cheaper for bigger profits! Huge mistake. But I still like them. Love their mojo's! Do not take them to go! Not the same, eat them fresh and you will still have the crunchy mojos! Same with their pizza, eat it fresh and it's a lot better! This location has a huge parking lot, never seen it busy, and the service has always been good. Prices are not that bad, just follow the steps, and just eat your food their. My experience to this location was horrible, A girl by the name of Noemi working on the game station was so rude to my daughter and maybe even other Kids, when they trying to cash out tickets, She yelled at them and slammed her hand on the counter to tell my daughter to get back at the end of line. Not acceptable they shouldn't put people that don't know how to provide great service or that are not patience with kids. My daughter is 11 she was just looking at the options to cash out tickets, my Dad was at the end of line for her. I was so mad she yelled at my daughter just because she was overwhelmed with other kids all so close to the counter still not an excuse for her to loose her temper and be so rude. Shakey's pizza on Washington Boulevard in the city of Whittier has probably one of the best Bunch a Lunch out there. They have one of the better assortments of food. Plenty of pizza with no waiting for replenishment. The gravy for mashed potatoes is a chicken gravy. I like this better than a beef gravy. The Chicken and Mojos had plenty supply. The self-serve soda fountain is convenient, for refilling your drinks. I noticed they were quick with cleaning tables when people finish their dinning. Hello Yelpers! I have to update (downgrade) my rating for what was once my fayv Shakeys. This location made a huge nose dive when they got rid of their real pizza ovens and switched to the dreaded conveyor belt oven that does not make real pizza. It makes conveyor belt pizza. And now, they have changed their Mojo Potatoes as well. Sorry to say, now they serve factory pre made (frozen) Mojo's. The real Mojo's (fresh cut and breaded on site) are gone. And so too is the lure and desire to eat at this sorry excuse for a pizza house. No longer worth the trip. This Shakeys now is nothing more than a fancy Dominos or Little Caesars, only at a higher price. read more

WORST SHAKEYS IVE BEEN TO!! Let me begin with how small this location, there was a long line just to get your food during the buffet hours. Shoulder to Shoulder packed lines. Staff seems miserable and are unprofessional. I had to get up myself to ask for new plate because they had no one going around taking unused plates from the tables. The food was horrible only had 2 different type of pizzas to choose from, mojos were over cooked, chicken was over salted. The gravy wasnt gravy it was legit WATER. All the condiments were empty. Checked for Bunch-O-Lunch with the family. A little expensive but the food was hot, flavorful, and everyone got what they wanted. My complements to the crew on shift at lunch 6/30/17. Very helpful. My wife wanted a special pizza, and my son wanted cheese only. Not only made them pizzas but brought sevral prices to the table. C&M were perfect. Gave four starts because staff were helpful.
