I like the food here. It is very flavorful. I had the chicken tikka masala and my husband had the pumpkin curry. We went on a weeknight and unfortunately, the service was a bit slow. There were only 2 waitstaff to handle the room. And although the room was not full, we still had to wait a while to get our drinks and our food. Normally, I would put this place into the category of "order take out / don't dine in," but it too far from our house for that. It is hard enough to get good indian food here in Tucson. Wow what happened! We usually LOVE this place, but tonight it was such a disappointment. It was tasteless. Maybe they changed cooks...so sad. Curry chicken boring, beef vandal of boring. We went here and the service was so poor. The food is hopeless. I have eaten at so many Indian restaurant but never had such bad tasting food. We ordered Samosas and the potato smelled like it was going bad. The chicken Tikka was so bland with tamarind sauce in it. The Malai Kafta is the best I have ever had! The vegetable biryani is amazing too. They are very consistent, always the same quality food- never disappointed. Super fast service too! This is my go to for carry out, delicious comfort food and they will make it as mild or as spicy as you want. Sooooooo good!!!!!!! I order double just to freeze some for later. Some people talk down on the atmosphere- it's not uptight, fancy, shwanky. It's not one of those places where your waiter will not hound you for updates or engage in overly enthusiastic, useless conversation for bigger tips. This place is always busy for dinner, and with good reason: the food is simply delicious! They just recently remodeled their dining area to make more room for diners but unfortunately the side effect is that now it can get quite loud in there. Food is excellent, but service has gone downhill. We visit Tucson often from San Diego, and always make a point of stopping in here. However, when we went on the evening of Mother's Day, 2014, the service was terrible. We were basically ignored once we were seated. Once they finally took our order, then finally got our food, no one ever stopped by to offer us water or see if we needed anything. We had to flag the staff down to get water. We had the Mango Lassa, Garlic Naan, Chicken Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka Masala. I wished that I had ordered several more of the mango drinks and more naan. It was all excellent. They have aggressive beggars that follow you in front of the restaurant, so be aware of your surroundings. read more

We visited the lunch buffet spontaneously today and were pleasantly surprised. The menu contained wonderful vegan options. This is my favorite place to get Indian food in Tucson. In fact, this is my favorite restaurant in Tucson hands down. At one point I was living across Grant and would phone-in orders and walk over to pick them up 2 or 3 times a week. I highly recommend the chicken korma (I like mine spiced medium-plus). The tamarind sauce for the naan is some the best I have had. Be sure to order a mango lasse as an extra treat for your taste buds. I bring all my dates here, and have converted many picky eaters to Sher-e Punjab. Now I am in Berkeley, CA and though there is tons of Indian dining around I still haven't found one nearly as good (especially when it comes to tamarind sauce). read more

To be fair I have not actually eaten their food, but that is the problem in itself. We waited over 30 minutes even after we were seated whilst receiving a blank stare from the maitre'd. We even waived credit cards in the air to indicate that we actually intended to PAY , but alas to no avail. Awful food and awful service. Not Indian food at all. Very clearly catered towards bland pallates. When we first got there for the lunch buffet on a Friday, we were told there was a 10-15 minute wait. Totally fine. Then another couple came in after us. The male hostess tells the couple that came after us if they wanted to have a seat at the bar, the couple looked at us and said "they were here first." The hostess looks at us and then looked back at the couple and asked them again if they wanted to sit there. The couple asked us directly if we wanted to sit there. And the hostess continued to ignore our existence. Horrible. Then we got their "buffet" which had only 6 options and only 2 for vegetarians, one of which was a pile of mushed spinach. That's not a buffet, and that's not Indian food. I asked the server if they had paneer, an Indian food staple and they only serve that on Tuesdays. They also had beef curry, which is NOT ACTUAL INDIAN FOOD. And to top it all off they were playing super cringy music videos. If you're looking for bland food and shitty service, go for it. If you want real Indian food and to be treated like a human being, look elsewhere. read more

One of the best Indian restaurants in Tucson if not ARIZONA. Incredible vegetarian options. Fresh naan tastes like I'm back in India. Everything has a certain spice level that you change to your liking. I got the hottest and it was fantastic. Mango lassi very thick and creamy. Only downside would be location. Lack of catering. And bathroom is dirty. But the food and service is fantastic. Been coming here since I was a kid and is hand down one of my fav spots for Indian food. Recommend to anyone. read more

The lunch buffet is a decent deal. It's about $9/$10 for a variety of food. Not the biggest variety tho, so don't expect to have a taste of India on your hands. The chicken curry is pretty good and is usually standard at the buffet. However, the samosas were AMAZING. Probably one of the best I've ever had. I was here a few months ago, and it was DELICIOUS. Probably the best tikka masala I have ever had. The naan was delicious, and I tried a little of everyone else's dish and it was all wonderful. My only issue was that we waited forever for our food, and there were only two other tables that had people. Went for the lunch buffet and it was unfortunately, disappointing. Many of the dishes didn't have a whole lot of flavor and a couple were very overcooked (e.g., the gobi; soggy cauliflower). Amazingly hot and spicy! When you ask for extra spicy at some places you don't get it. They didn't flinch and brought us pure awesome spice. The garlic naan was a good size but not too garlic flavored. A little bland but I live everything over the top. The chicken tikka masala which is a staple if what I get at Indian restaurants was fantastic. So smooth and creamy yet spicy. We also had lamb biryani which was packed with goodies. It wasn't quite as hot but super tasty. The rice was perfect. Can't complain. They didn't overdo the raisins or whatever it is they put in biryani. Lastly, the best water service I have ever had. When my water was even slightly empty they came by to check and refill. That's something I appreciate. I hate waiting for water especially with spicy food. read more
