The BEST grilled cheese sandwich you will ever have! I have been coming to this coffee shop for years and have never been let down by their amazing sandwiches. My favorite is Da Philly, which is a Philly cheese steak turned into a grilled cheese sandwich. Drinks are delicious! I am a huge fan of their latte's, especially the O.D.Bee. They also have some seasonal/holiday drink menus by the register. This place is decorated with automobile racing paraphernalia from wall to wall, which makes it a unique place! Parking for this location can be a bit difficult at times as most of it is street parking.

Shift as a great coffee house! There is a huge selection of different kinds of coffees and the environment has very unique vibes to it. The 'Shift' name comes from their main theme of cards and racing. Inside the cafe are all sorts of racing inspired memorabilia and regalia. It's all very tastefully done and doesn't come off as too much or an eyesore. Besides coffee, Shift specializes in a huge variety of grilled cheese sandwiches. I've NEVER seen a selection of grilled cheese sandwiches like this before. There are so many to choose from with different and varied ingredients. You can select a breakfast version, a savory brunch style, and even sweeter grilled cheeses. On my visit to Shift I went with a group of four so we had the opportunity to try a sample of different sandwiches. If you like a mix of sweet and savory, the peanut butter, bacon, jelly one is surprisingly good. That one probably was the most eye opening one. The grilled cheeses sandwiches are filling. We ended up asking them to cut them in quarters so we could all try the different styles. They were totally ok with this request so we had a great time sampling everything. The coffees we got were very nice. My friends loved their tiramisu cold coffee that was a special that day. I'm not sure how well coffee and grilled cheese sandwiches pair together with each other, but Shift somehow makes it work. It's a very enjoyable eating experience!

I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile because I love grilled cheese. I was in the area so decided to stop in. The ambiance is fun with retro style and car theme. Good place to work and meet up with a friend! I got the capitol sunrise breakfast grilled cheese and it was ok, but not amazing. I also felt the same way about the peppermint latte which was a December special. The service was great, the gals working there were sweet & kind! Otherwise, I would say this place is just average, 3-star. I don't think I'd drive out of the way for this, but if I'm in the area again, I'd try another grilled cheese since there are many!

Came in for some coffee and grilled cheese! Their chai latte was amazing. Not too watered with milk and just enough chai. Their grilled cheese is solid, nothing too special. Got cheese and bacon in mine and I enjoyed! Love their car shop decor they have. It's giving vintage and they also provide wifi to do some work while you're there.

Really cute cafe in car theme. My child was occupied with the cars and didn't bother us the whole time we were there. Loved the food, tastes homemade.

Cute decor!

Cute car-themed cafe, nice outdoor seating, friendly quick service We stopped in for coffee, and were delighted with their non-dairy add-ins. The flat white was a tasty brew, and we liked the creamy oat-milk, and we also could have chosen almond milk. They have fun with the racing-theme, including Steve McQueen's famous "salute" from the Le Mans film. After a day walking around Old Sacramento by the river, we doubled back here for more, to refill for the drive back to SF! Spacious interior, several outdoor tables. Lot's of great-looking food options for next time.

I was initially drawn to Shift Coffee House because of their grilled cheese sandwiches, but once I looked at the rest of the menu, I knew I had to try something a little different. I ended up ordering the PBB&J sandwich--yes, peanut butter, jelly, cheddar, mozzarella, and bacon. I had never seen anything like it before and wasn't sure what to expect... but WOW. It was a surprisingly delicious flavor combo that just worked! My friend got the Carrera sandwich with a side of tomato soup, which I also tried with my PBB&J--and let me tell you, that soup elevates everything. Super flavorful and cozy. On top of that, I had one of their sparkling lemonades with cold foam (recommended by the sweetest team member, Kaylee--hope I'm spelling that right!). She was so kind, helpful, and made the entire experience even better. I'd come back just for her customer service alone. Of course, I couldn't leave without dessert, and their s'mores cookie (chocolate chips, graham cracker, and gooey marshmallow) was soft, crunchy, and absolutely massive. One of the best cookies I've had in a while--worth the trip on its own. The space itself is super cute and tucked away in an alleyway-style strip. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, cozy couches, a charming vintage vibe, and plenty of space to work or relax. Great atmosphere, flavorful food, affordable prices, and lots of parking right in front. I'll definitely be back again soon. Again, huge thanks to Kaylee she made me feel so loved and welcomed!!

Bay Area Sandwich with brisket and bbq

I enjoy picking up my TooGoodToGo orders here when I can! The people up front are friendly and conversational. I finally got time to order the Bay Area grilled cheese and it's wasn't bad! I'd say to get more bbq sauce even though there was some on it already. I like a saucer brisket grilled cheese ahaha. I'd come back to try another one for sure. They're priced alright ranging from $11-15. They also serve coffee and teas, but i just opted for some water. Inside is cute and Auto/ Aston Martin themed and seems like they always got a drag race on.

I love the interior of this place! It's F-1 racing themed and alot of the furniture is vintage in timeless condition. The music was great as well! I noticed it lots ALT metal 90s and 2000s which is unique and I'm super happy it's not that of a typical coffee shop with hipster folk music. The service was great! Barista was awesome and helpful. It's definitely a place you sit and can get work done in. I ended up ordering the Bugatti royale latte to go. 8.5/10 definitely delicious and I would order again. Highly recommend this place if you want to try a niche coffee shop.

Here we are again! My daughter turned 17 today and wanted to start the morning off here ! We used our sacramento coffee passport and tried out Shift. Drew helped us and she was incredibly helpful and lovely. I had the Mexican mocha and it was yummy. I ordered a sandwich to go for my husband and he loved it. It's a cool place , super clean and inviting and plenty of space

Shift Coffee House has a variety of tasty drinks from lattes to tea! The star of this place is their grilled cheese options! Breakfast grilled cheese was a magical way to start our morning. My wife got the sunrise and I got the firehouse 20 breakfast grilled cheese. The staff were so lovely and even made the sunrise without bread for my wife. I loved their lattes and the options to choose from had such a great variety. They are very busy later in the day so make sure you come with enough time for a good treat. Support this local business and get cheesy!

Del Paso Del Sol

Our first visit to Shift Coffee House was long overdue. We went on a Sunday morning and we ordered two Del Paso Del Sol sandwiches, mine with no meat, and two Mexican Mochas. The sandwiches were delicious and we liked the coffee too. The menu is fairly extensive so it was a bit difficult to narrow it down, so we'll definitely make another trip, I'm looking forward to trying That's My Jam and You're Cheesy Honey. It took a little while to get our order, but only because there was a steady stream of customers. Love the decor and staff!

The happy hour prices were reasonable and had so many great options. Can't say for certain about the parking situation because it was a close walk from our hotel. We ordered 2 mocktails, the watermelon sugar and basil berry fizz. Both drinks were super sugary and tart, which I ended up diluting with water. Still refreshing and tasty, but I think it was a bit overkill on sugar. For our mains, we tried the rigatoni bolognese, trio of fries, and chicken tenders. All food and drinks for under $50! The portions were massive, especially the trio of fries, which I was not expecting. The sweet potato fries were a bit soggy compared to the other 2, which were significantly crispier. The chicken tenders were ok and probably the least exciting thing we ordered haha. On the other hand, the bolognese was by far the standout! Flavorful, rich, creamy and the cheese pull from the pasta was to die for. Our server was super cool and patient with us, as it was our first time coming here. Totally recommend checking this place out with a group of friends to enjoy happy hour.

My son's chicken tenders were great as well and looked homemade and not like it came from a frozen bag. There is paid parking around the area. We were seated outside which was lovely, especially given the weather and the slight breeze. I appreciate that they offer an option for reservations. Many brunch places do not do those nowadays, which I hate. Every brunch requires a coffee. I appreciate that they do lattes here, rather than just hot or iced coffees. They had some unique syrups, such as bourbon caramel and praline. The syrups were on the more subtle side, which some people prefer. I am not one of those people, but it was a good latte for a breakfast/ brunch spot. I wish there was more ice tho.  The skillet cornbread with sharp cheddar, creamed corn & garlic, honey butter & house made seasonal jam on the side was a great starter dish. I enjoyed the garlic and cheese. The temperature/ toastiness of this was yummy.  We couldn't decide between the cornbread and the sticky bun, so the only obvious solution was to order both. The topping of the sticky bun was delicious. It was almost pecan pie adjacent.

I ordered a Guinness and we moved to the back area as our group grew too large to have at the small front tables. They have breakfast and lunch available and had an impressive menu for what I thought was just a bar. We asked our server what she recommended and she said the waffle fries and French toast are great. While we passed on the French Toast (this time- I'm more of a savory breakfast person) we did get waffle fries ($7) and their Zebra Special ($15.50) that comes with two eggs, meat (ham, bacon or sausage), hash browns, and choice of toast. We paid a little extra to get a biscuit with gravy instead of toast. We also ordered jello shots for the group and it was very fun having morning jello shots with breakfast. They have a lot of televisions here and seem to serve as a watch party destination for a lot of sports fans. They also have an outdoor area, which is great for groups, but we also noticed that the small of people smoking wafted into the inner dining area from outside which was a drawback for me. The staff here was so nice and attentive and we had so much fun with our group here. Would highly recommend checking them out.

The food was delicious: I had the pear and pecan French toast and my wife had fried green tomatoes egg Benedict which she found super yummy. Their multiple line check-in and wait system where you line up again in a separate line once texted, process is an admittedly a bit clunky but I also surprisingly found it be very efficient. We went in on a Friday mid-morning and the wait for 2 was only about 15-20 minutes. I was blown away by how nice it was on the inside, it's a lot bigger and more modern than you would expect from seeing it on the outside. I'd say there are about roughly 25-35 tables combined inside and outside, so don't be discouraged if the line looks long. I promise it's not the hole in the wall it seems on the outside - it's really roomy on the inside! The food also comes out SUPER quick and the wait staff is super attentive and friendly. The only thing that I didn't quite understand was their pricing on their brewmosa. It's listed as $10 and it includes a PBR and only a splash of OJ but if purchased separately full cup of OJ and a can of PBR they're listed at $4 a piece. So I was a little bit confused and asked the waiter who was equality admittedly puzzled. I ended up buying the separate items and making my own brewmosa. I will say it was quite delicious! Their OJ is freshly squeezed which is a big big plus! Anyways I would highly recommend this place and we hope to be back soon if we find ourselves back in the area!
