We had the Carrera and the M.O.S.T. with added prosciutto for extra cost. Pricey for grilled cheeses, but it delivers with the quality of cheeses and meats. Cooked perfectly. There is definitely a sandwich on the menu for any craving. I've enjoyed the Del Paso Del Sol, the Cheesy Italian and the Mardi Gras and all of them were tasty. Their habanero jack is an awesome cheese option and I love that they have a mango habanero hot sauce as well. I didn't know coffee and grilled cheese went together until my first meal here, but now it's a combo I'd choose over and over again. The outdoor area has this beautiful gate that sections off the seating from the street, you can't miss it. So my better half saw somebody asking about under rated eateries in Sacramento. Someone mentioned this place. So naturally we were curious, we came out to look for it and I was blown away! Such a cute little shop with a nice dining area, the staff was really friendly and the sandwiches.... next level delicious. Good lord have mercy! I went both times with the dark chocolate mocha, iced since Sacramento was already hot. The richness of the chocolate was devine and the thick organic cream created a delicious wake up concoction. Fresh pastries are available. But the selection of grilled cheeses are phenomenal. The entire shop smells of melted buttery goodness twined with coffee. I have NEVER liked tomato soup but this was the best!!!! Okay, sooooo this place lives up to the hype. They pride themselves in having the best grilled cheese in California & I can see why. It was definitely the best grilled cheese I ever had. I ordered the Bay Area brisket & the cashier recommended that I get it with the BBQ sauce. The entire sandwich was sooo good. I've never eaten something so fast in my life lol. I know it's a coffee place, but the grilled cheese is definitely the star here. But my drink was good too. They have a spacious outdoor seating. It can accommodate a lot of groups, but still have adequate spacing among tables. The staff here are very energetic, helpful & friendly. They look like they really enjoy their jobs. This place for sure puts a smile on your face. I 100% recommend this place to everyone, especially if you are a grilled cheese fan. Why is this little gem all the way over here? I want to pick it up and drop it somewhere in downtown Sacramento or in LA. It certainly deserves some more lovin. When I first looked it up on yelp, I thought it was somewhere in Natomas. It was only after I turned on my gps that I realized I messed up (oh well). I'm glad I ended up here and got to experience their delicious latte and pastries. While they offer some great breakfast items, I was more impressed with their Vegan baked items. I had a cinnamon roll and absolutely loved it. Unless someone tells you these pastries are vegan, you'd never know. It was a fantastic start to a Sunday morning. For those of you that don't wish to venture to Midtown Sacramento but still want to be close to that area, "Shift Coffee" just might be what you're looking for. And since I absolutely love the family-owned and operated coffee shops that are opening up everywhere, I'm surprised I did not come here sooner. Located directly on Del Paso Blvd. and adjacent to Arden Way in North Sacramento, Shift Coffee has been opened ever since the fall of 2017. And since then, it has a very impressive amount of above-average Yelp reviews. Parking here was very easy to find, especially with a dedicated parking lot. There is additional parking on the street directly outside of the business. The exterior of this place offers generous seating in a quaint yet lovely courtyard area. The theme of Shift Coffee is that their business focuses primarily on the vintage automobile culture. Throughout the interior of the business, you will see a classic 1950's motorcycle, antique auto parts, a giant photograph of the great actor Steve McQueen, and much, much more. Additionally, this place offers plenty of seating including some cozy lounge chairs which gave this place a nice touch. The menu here is quite extensive and unique. Here, you will find all the basic coffee and espresso beverages but also a very generous assortment of their homemade grilled cheese sandwiches. I ended up ordering their " Lenae's Lavender Latte" (for $4.50). This drink consisted of whole milk, lavender syrup, espresso, medium foam, and candied lavender. Since it was around 11:00am on a Sunday and I had not eaten anything for breakfast, I opted for their "Smokin' Pig" breakfast sandwich (for $8). This consisted of pulled pork, sliced apples, and a mix of Havarti/Chipotle Jack cheese on whole wheat bread. My latte arrives in less than 5 minutes and the taste was spot on. I definitely loved the unique lavender taste that sets it apart from the more popular vanilla and caramel flavors. In about 15 minutes, my breakfast sandwich arrives. I will tell you, the portions they serve here are extremely generous. I was absolutely satisfied with the gooey cheese melting. The crunchy apple slices mixed in with the tender pulled pork really made this a very unique experience. On the morning I came here, there were only two ladies working here. But they were very attentive, friendly, and made me feel at home. Overall, this is a small business that I hope will survive the test of time. With you combine an amazing ambiance complete with exceptional customer service and excellent food and drink, this is a place worth checking out.
