This is a place you need to come with someone who has knowledge on KBBQ otherwise it's difficult. But it does have great tasting KBBQ. They also provide the typical sides and rice paper. What can I say about Shik Do Rak? Let's see.. the meat quality is the best in the valley. And I emphasize "in the valley." They don't do ayce but the pricing for their combos is fair and you can always take things home if you can't finish. Their service can be worked on. When I go with my parents, service is usually decent at best. When I go with a crowd of people my age, we are often not getting the same. It is extremely hard to get their attention, because frankly, it doesn't seem like they care too much and always look so overwhelmed and flustered. There are no youths working here and the ladies that serve look as if they hate their jobs and everyone around. Even my mom has her preferred servers. Maybe just preferred server. There's only like one lady that, although looks overwhelmed, is willing to be pulled away from her overbearing workload and service the tables. The others will almost sneer at you or overlook you. This is one of my favorite KBBQ restuarants to eat at! The food itself deserves 5 stars. The cuts of meat here are usually very lean and taste great! There's a lot of variety for the side dishes, and it comes with rice paper which not all KBBQ restuarants have. It also comes with 2 different sauces, a salt and pepper in sesame oil sauce and a spicy sriracha sauce. The service, on the other hand, only derseves 3 stars in my opinion. The servers here always seem to be in a rush, and when the restaurant gets too busy I often find my cup a little too empty. Sometimes it can be hard getting their attention, especially during rush hour which generally starts about 7 o'clock. One of the best Korean food stops in north ridge area. Their prices are not bad and the food is really good. I love their clauses as most places are not fresh. Every time I come here everything is fresh and yummy. Even when they are busy this place always has the best food and service. If you don't feel like cooking which is one of the best parts you can order cooked food. Normally we do our own but this time we didn't and wow it was soooo good. KBBQ in the Valley!!! With gas prices almost at the $4 mark, I was looking to get my fix somewhere close to home. Great place right near CSUN! The service is exceptional. This was supposed to be a dinner with a few friends, yet somehow we ended up with 15 people. I changed the reservation 4 times and they were really courteous about it. Nothing but smiles from the staff. Each table with 5 people ordered the $59.99 combo of Brisket, Short Ribs and Pork Belly. That combo also includes rice paper, some kind of radish soup, and a soju bottle. Because we were told that's not enough for 5 people, we added Bulgogi ($18.99) to each table. Additional Soju bottles were $10.99 and I can't remember the price of beer. The meat was pretty good. The bulgogi was definitely everyone's favorite (slightly large pieces, but still good). There were also a decent number of side dishes: kimchi, radish, bean sprouts, tofu, some rice jello looking thing, salad, onions, garlic, hot pepper, and a few different sauces. I forgot to take a picture of their menu, but they got some decent prices. Lunch: 11:00 am - 3:00 pm Dinner: 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm For Lunch: a lot of their stuff is between $10 and $18. Each of those dishes is more then enough for two people. For Dinner: certain items are between $18 and $25, but they also got decent priced combos for large groups starting from $30. If I had to pick one negative thing about this place, I'd have to say the early closing time and that they don't actually wait till you finish. April 11 was their one year anniversary and they stayed open till 10:30 pm, so it wasn't that bad. It was technically my fault, because I didn't pay attention to when they close. However, I was hoping they would at least let us finish up before they started cleaning our tables. Next time I'll make sure we come earlier. I usually go to the one in Garden Grove. But it was a Friday nite and didn't want to sit in traffic. So we ended up at this one. This was my second time to this one. I was surprise how good the meat quality was. So far so good. Once we got our order in the food came right out. I mean everything. The meat the sides the rice,soup,veggies and the beers. The food was good really enjoy it. But I'm giving them 3 star because of there service. Once the food came the waitress never came back. We had I keep on pressing the button to call our waitress and when they did come they would say " oh we'll get your server" ..... I was hesitant of coming here after I called and the lady over the phone was demanding I just "come in now" But I was craving Korean bbq and the wait at my regular spot was too long. The waitress kept telling us what to order, despite us already ordering. She was constantly talking over us and just overall bad vibes. Anyways, the food came (not that great 3/10) as I'm eating my salad I see a freaking FLY marinating. She came by and I told her there's a fly in my salad and she poked around it with her fork while my plate is still in front of me. I explained to her that this situation is unacceptable and they should do something about it. She proceeds to walk away without a word -- comes back and says I can give you another salad and we'll take the sprite off your bill. A fricking sprite? The cheapest thing that I got? These people are horrible. Horrible customer service. Horrible food. Horrible atmosphere. She didn't even show any emotions as her excuse was, "oh it's because we are now outside so it happens" I explained to her that it is not my fault , I shouldn't have a fly in my food. This place is sub par at best in the valley. The meat here is not bad and is probably the best you can get in the valley. The other traditional Korean dishes you can get here such as Yuk eh jang, is fairly good. My main compliant here is the service. Wow... I was probably an old man by the time the waitresses served my table. The waitresses are rude and do not tend to your needs. I believe I waited 15 minutes to get someone to take our order... And the place was not busy at all. It took another 15 minutes for us to get our ban chan. At this point, it was getting pretty tiresome to flag the waitresses down. Shik Do Rak is the ultimate Korean BBQ joint in my opinion. As soon as you step in the restaurant, everything about it feels authentic. They don't try to "Americanize" it one bit. Hubby and I love this place. The waitresses are always on point, constantly checking up on us and making sure that nothing gets burned. Food comes out super fast. We love the standard onions and mushrooms on top of the grill that goes along with the meat. We like to grill the garlic and jalapeños too. My favorite Korean BBQ in the Valley. We went for a special occasion, and were blown away by the quality of the food, the enormous quantity and the attentive and efficient service of the waitresses. We ordered chicken and beef BBQ for two, which came with a miso type of soup and a drink. We also ordered a bowl of mixed seafood noodle soup that we were told could feed 2 or 3 people. By the time all of our food arrived, we could have easily fed six people. The meat is cooked by the waitress and snipped into bite-sized pieces directly onto your plate, and the soup was ladeled for us from the enormous bowl being heated in the middle of the table where the BBQ was. Everything was very, very fresh. Always, always, wear something that you don't care will smell like cooked meat when going to a Korean BBQ. And your hair will smell too, by the time you're done. After my hubs and I returned from Moorea, my parents were nice enough to pick us up and take us to lunch at SDR. You can never be disappointed by Korean BBQ restaurant with the speediness of the service and what I appreciate a lot more, ever since I've experienced what the Korean restaurants in Michigan charge and offer, is the amount of food you get for what you pay. SDR is located next to a car wash on the corner of Reseda and Devonshire st. and conveniently across the Galleria Market and is only open for lunch and dinner. My parents were a little shocked at how much the prices went up and was told that since the cost of meat has gone up over the past months, they had to raise the prices. The quantity of the meat seemed to have gotten smaller with the price change and the quality as well. We ordered one of the combos that came with chadol-beef brisket and dae-ji bulgogi-spicy marinated pork, that also comes with doenjang chiggae -soybean paste soup and rice. We also ordered yukgaejang- spicy beef soup and split that four ways. I would say the whole meal was more than enough for the four of us. Once your seated, the waitresses will bring you ice water or hot water and soon after, banchan and two different types of dipping sauce for the meats. One is a sesame oil base with salt and pepper the other one is a soybean paste base. And if you ever need refills on the banchan or sauces, they are quick to get you more. I would definitely come back and stick with the chadol-a couple orders of it and the yukgaejang...which is a perfect soup to have on a cold day or night! read more

Been coming here for years. Although I haven't been here for a couple of years until recently. I love this place. If you want duck, this is the place to go. One of the few places around that does duck right. This time around, we ordered two different types of duck. The first order was the original duck that you dip with the sauce that they give you. You mix the sauce with lettuce, onions, and yellow hot sauce. Man does it compliment the duck really well. The duck is nice and tender with tons of flavor. The second dish, my favorite its the smoked duck. I love this dish. Use to eat it all the time in Korea. Would go to the country just to eat smoked duck. So when I found out that Shik Do Rak has smoked duck, I had to go back and check it out. How was it? Very good. Haven't had smoked duck in a restaurant in California ever until recently. It packs tons of flavor and you can really taste the smokiness in each bite. There wasn't too many side dishes but the ones that come out were really good. I do not remember this place being this good but it was. And the service for a Korean place is pretty good. Overall a great experience with great food and service. Came here for dinner on a weeknight, and the place was actually pretty busy. We were in a group of 10 so we had to split into 2 tables. The place is pretty small. After you sit down, they start serving you the side dishes. I really liked the tofu and seaweed, and the salad was pretty good too. I ordered the tofu soup with beef and seafood, and it came out pretty good. I ordered it at a level spiciness of medium and it was not spicy at all, but it was still flavorful. It came with plenty of small pieces of beef, but not a lot of seafood. The clams and shrimp were tiny too. I didn't eat the Korean BBQ here, but my bf said that it was good but a little on the pricey side. I think they only give you a set amount of meat, so it's not AYCE (still seemed like more than enough to get full off of though). Service was okay. The waitresses brought out our food pretty fast and stopped by once in awhile to help the girls at my table with their kbbq. Since it's a small restaurant, I felt pretty cramped. I didn't really like it when the busboy was cleaning the tables behind us and throwing all the plates/bowls onto his cart. I was afraid some nasty leftover food was going to fly onto me.
