I was in the mood for carpaccio and seeing that they had some variety and different cuts of fish, I came here! The carpaccio's had good presentation but ultimately was a 7/10. I think they should have switched the dressing for both the halibut and albacore to what they put on the octopus and yellowtail. The crispy onions were strong in flavor and yuzu sauce would have cut & balanced the overall bite. The nigiri was REALLY good and I normally don't even get nigiri. The sushi rice was 10/10 and I think that's a huge thumbs up! If a sushi restaurant can't make good sushi rice, can you even trust them?? The spider roll was alright. Proportions were a little off. Too much crab meat & no cucumber to add a little bit of freshness. The unagi sauce was a bit sweet for my liking and didn't compliment the roll. I couldn't taste the delicate soft shell crab taste & soft shell crab is my all time favorite! I would come back here for the nigiri. The staff were really friendly and on top of their work! read more

Man.. I've been in LA for FIVE years and anytime anyone has asked what's your favorite sushi spot, I had nothing to say. NOW I FINALLY DO I loveeeeee this place. Oh my goodness. The food 10/10 The SERVICE?!? Literally 100/10 (they're SO quick, I was barely finishing ordering and the food was already coming to the table) The actual restaurant? Beautiful and tucked away at the end of a shopping center so it's kind of secluded. I honestly love it and already made plans to go back in a couple days, heheh. read more

Sorry, but food is not good low-medium quality and I'm generous. No need weird sauce on the rolls, please cut it thinner & nicer, and bring out the appetizer before the main course. Last minute date night idea, my boyfriend and I were craving sushi and this place popped up. It's a bit hidden within the plaza where it's located but the ambiance is nice and the service was pretty great. It was a slow night so perhaps that helped but the servers were quick and the food was delicious! We had the spicy edamame 10/10, deep friend calamari 4/10 (kind of rubbery), and I had a salmon tempura roll in soy paper (10/10). Overall, I'd come back. read more

ALLERGIES! I SPECIFICALLY ordered takeout dishes with NO SHRIMP because I'm DEADLY allergic! Unfortunately I got home to discover that one dish was FILLED with shrimp! Don't know if the orders got switched or it was just plain wrong. I spent 49 minutes reading the selection descriptions to avoid just such a thing. Paid for something that not only had to be thrown away but removed from the house. Well at least I know my epi pen works. My boyfriend took me on a Friday night and we were seated right away at the bar. I've heard some nights are easier to be seated quickly than others, but this night was pretty busy. We had a front row seat to some amazing food and we stuffed ourselves. Wether from the kitchen or sushi bar, the food came out quickly and the service was attentive. It was so delicious we kept ordering more and more. As for the room, I have trouble when a restaurant is to loud but we were able to talk just fine! Was really happy with my first time here. Brought my mother in law for her birthday dinner. My dad doesn't eat sushi so it was nice to see the options they had. The chicken teriyaki hot bowl was really good had tons of veggies and the chicken was soft. I would ask for easy on the sauce or sauce on the side though! Which they are nice enough to do. Parking is horrible after 7 lol there's a restaurant/nightclub in the same plaza. read more

Place has changed ownership and chefs...used to be my favorite hood neighborhood spot but has completely gone downhill. Oil for tempura is old and rancid. You can taste it. Then the sashimi and nigiri sushi is not fresh. You can tell it's been frozen and thawed. Lost it's color and turning gray...Smelled like it's going bad and definitely mealy and texture was completely off and grainy doesn't melt in ya mouth like butter if ya know high end quality sushi. Nothing looked like in the menu photos. Went yesterday on Tuesday and got the tail end of fish about to go bad. Should've known better. So disappointed as I took colleagues there for first time for a quick lunch. My advice and to myself from now on...order one piece of nigiri to test the quality of fish if not good then leave. read more

Absolutely delicious sushi and very fast service. We were in and out within an hour. We got the amazing salmon roll (very fitting name) and the dragon roll. I'm obsessed with thin lemon slices on rolls, I think they compliment the flavors so well so I was a huge fan of the amazing salmon roll. Also I have to mention that I've never had water so delicious in my life, I know that sounds silly but I drank 3 cups of their water and asked for a to go cup. Not only am I returning for their sushi but definitely for their water too! ;) read more

As someone who lived in NY for 21 years, decent sushi is so hard to come by. This is one of my favorite spot in LA by far, amazing prices with really good food can't be beat. Their lunch specials are amazing too with SO much food. The staff is always nice and welcome you in when you sit down and it feels like a at home Japanese style restaurant ( Of course ). Really recommend going here for lunch or dinner. read more

I didn't take pictures of the food but it was DELICIOUS! ALASKA ROLL- isn't on the menu anymore but it's really a roll that's filled with fresh fish variety and crab and wrapped in a soy wrap but it's SO good! I ordered the A5 WAGYU SUSHI/Nigiri and it's like BUTTER in your mouth delicious! My mom tried it for the first time and she was shocked how good steak as a sushi/nigiri is. YELLOWTAIL DUO- Is on the special menu, it was a good spicy sushi roll to get. The other SUSHI/NIGIRI I tried was Albacore Seared, Salmon Belly, Toro Seared, and Yellow tail Belly Seared. ALL VERY FRESH! Last time I was here parking was a NIGHTMARE, but it's gotten a bit better for sure they still have a tight turn around but it's good. Highly recommend this place. Also, they are short staffed and they really do check your vaccine cards, without it you won't be able to sit down. read more

I've been going to Shiki for at least 15 years, but possibly closer to 20, and after tonight, I'm just not sure I'll be back. I went a few months ago, and it did have a different vibe and definitely noticed differences. Sadly, tonight was not better. Like a lot of folks who've posted recently, we experienced people seeing us waiting to be seated and just walking by, at least 3x. Someone in our party had to walk in and stop a server for us to be seated. They changed their shasmi salad dressing. It was the lovely ginger and sesame goodness, but not any more. The bottom of the crispy tuna was way over cooked, the Rolls-Royce was super small. We ordered dessert and they gave us plastic spoons. Trying to cut tempura ice cream with a spoon is not ideal. I don't like the way shiki has changed. read more

*LONG REVIEW* You do need your vaccination to dine in. Get vaxed. Kinda tucked in the back, parking could probably get hectic but we came around lunch time and wow. Everything about this place is great. From their chopstick packaging and menu, to their food. As soon as you walk-in you're greeted by your chefs and staff. Everyone is super friendly and very attentive. We decided to sit at the bar which was great and gave us a chance to talk to our chefs and see our food being prepared. Nice, darker ambiance within the whole building. I got to customize the 3 item Bento box. This comes with white rice, miso soup (really good), and a salad automatically. For my three items I got the salmon teriyaki, the salmon sushi roll, and the pan fried gyoza (potsticker). Everything was scrumptious! Salmon was cooked great, they keep the scales, but that's not a problem. Their salmon roll was great, your typical roll. Loved their pan fried gyoza. Nice and crispy. The best part to me though was the miso soup. Idk if they just made mine special today, but that was some of the best I've had. I would definitely recommend this place. And to go during lunch time. Slightly cheaper not a bad price for two though. Was expecting much worse. read more

Service here was really great. Super attentive and kind staff. We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was a hot day in the Valley but this place didn't seem to have regular air conditioning. They had air conditioning units and when they saw us fanning ourselves in the corner, one of the staff moved the unit so the breeze would hit us - very nice. The food ranged from pretty OK to almost inedible for me. We ordered salmon nigiri, jumbo scallop nigiri, special salmon blue crab roll, and a dancing albacore. The salmon nigiri was not fresh/a premium cut. The jumbo scallop nigiri tasted nothing like a fresh scallop is supposed to, normally it's fresh and buttery but this was such an odd bouncy/chewy texture. The salmon blue crab roll which was 21$ was terrible. The blue crab looked like it came straight out of a can and looked/tasted like tuna salad - I imagine it's a similar texture to cat food. The dancing albacore was pretty decent, the fried onions and sauce saved the roll. The place was pretty busy when we were there though, so people do like this place - it just wasn't for me or my husband. read more

This is definitely one of those places where they think they're doing you a favor by letting you eat there. I went here with my family who were visiting from out of town. We were told the way it would be 12:30 hour. Sucks but OK after an hour and 20 minutes, I asked any sign of a table And the person I spoke to decided they should talk to me like I was a moron. They spoke to me in an extremely condescending way making it clear that you have to just wait till we're ready. Obviously, if I was not with my family, who mistakenly thought they should eat here I would've left the food was average the service was abrupt and rude again one of those places that thinks they're doing you a favor for you to spend your money and eat their food give it a mess read more

Another great sushi spot! Walked in just before 7pm and was seated right away. I was delighted by the fish selection and quality, as well as the pleasant and efficient service. I'm always on the hunt for good sushi and this one hits the mark. Well done! Per usual, we ordered a lot: miso soup, seaweed salad, seared salmon belly, yellowtail belly, bluefin tuna, large scallops, sweet shrimp, uni, salmon skin hand rolls, and blue crab hand rolls. Yes, we had to roll ourselves to the car. I was excited to see a complimentary small serving of bean sprouts and edamame that was brought out while we looked over the menus. Everything was delicious!! Just a really solid spot -- I can't believe I haven't been here before. Overall, Shiki is a winner. Plenty of parking, lots of seating, friendly staff, great fish. Very disappointed.... This was my favorite spot and I went there very often. Today decided to order for to go and was very excited because haven't been there for a while since pandemic going... Tried to call them at 9pm cus remember that kitchen closing at 9.30pm. I called them like 10 times but they can't hear me so I asked my friend to call them and same thing happened. Something definitely was wrong with their phone! So I waited a little bit and called them at 9.31pm(!) And how surprised I was to hear that kitchen closed (!!!). I told them that I tried to call during last 20 minutes... but still NO. Great food but zero service, unfortunately. Don't recommend to order before closing... read more

Not on the menu but they do have hf soy & tamari. They were kind of annoyed with the whole celiac scenario when we tried it. Iroha down the street bent over backwards to assure my partner her meal would be gluten free w/o cross contamination.

Level with me, BBQ chicken is something I order really to test the waters and I can honestly say, one of the better BBQ chickens I have had.
