Hungry after work, I was craving some chicken wings. This place is definitely my new go-to spot for wings! I tried the Cambodian dirt, which is a lemon pepper flavor, but way more lemon-y and pepper-y than I expected. That's a good thing, though! The wings were cooked perfectly. The employee recommended I try the garlic noodles. I got a small size, but it was a huge portion! They packed it like they bought too many souvenirs and had to pack it all in their carry-on. The noodles were delicious, though. You should definitely eat the food while it's fresh. Don't wait, just eat it! It's located in a small shopping center, so parking can get a bit tight. But inside, it's nice and clean with plenty of seating. I ordered my food to go, and it took less than 10 minutes on a Friday afternoon. Great wings. Got the Cambodian dirty (dry rub) and the spicy garlic wings (sauces); I enjoyed both but the edge goes to the spiced garlic wings.. it wasn't too spicy, just enough. Both flavors of wings were balanced. However, ordered the garlic noodles.. this was my favorite.. stole the show, in my opinion. Noodles were cooked perfectly and touch of cilantro was great. I didn't think the garlic was too overpowering. Great service, got my order to me quickly. The place was clean and in order. Ok these wings are GOOD. We drove all the way from downtown off a wing craving after seeing a picture of these wings and yes. If you're thinking about doing the same, do it. They're seriously so good. We were greeted so warmly by the woman behind the counter and she was more than happy to walk us through the way the menu works since it was our first time. We opted for 10 Elvis, 5 Tamarind Tiger, 5 Sweet Spicy Garlic, and garlic noodles. All were absolutely incredible. The Elvis gave us a general TSO's feel but not spicy. The Tamarind Tiger were sweet and tangy but not too sweet. Sweet spicy garlic was exactly that. The noodles were absolutely perfect with a balance of garlic and cilantro. The food and service is 11/10. The owners are lovely people and Shlap Muan is all the hype. The Cambodian dirt and buffalo are my favorite wings! I grew up in a Cambodian household so I had wings in a similar style but I can't get it quite like my family who isn't local, having Shlap Muan locally is so nostalgic, I love introducing friends to their food, eating way too many wings, and saying hi to the owners. So I'll return to try the popular flavors and update my review. Counter service was normal but kept having to run in the back to ask what they were out of. It happened to us and we had to pick a different flavor and then happened again with a guy that ordered after us! I don't know if this happens often ... I mean these are sauces, not bbq ribs that take 4 hrs to cook! Anyway Cambodian dirt was my favorite. Nice and crispy. Prices were fair as well.. about $1 per wing. Stunning, delicious, wow. The different wings were all so good. I normally don't like buffalo sauce but this water buffalo is the best, it has nice sourness! You haven't had buffalo sauce like this one. The lemon pepper is a perfect dry rub and has a little sweetness. The Dirty Elvis is my favorite, I could eat it all day. I would get it all again. Garlic noodles were yummy and they're generous with their portions. Service was quick and they were patient to explain the menu for us. Found this spot thanks to a viral Instagram Reel! It's in a small shopping mall you could very easily pass by, but you gotta try it. The dirty Elvis wings were so flavorful and a perfect crunch. Really love these wings. I'm a big fan of dry rub rings and the flavors here are really unique and delicious. The wings are nice and crispy and the chicken itself is juicy. The Cambodian Dirt and Jalapeño MSG flavors. The spicy Cambodian dirt is pretty good too. The heat isn't particularly that spicy but it's a slow burn so after a few you'll definitely feel it. But plenty of people have talked about the wings. I just wanted to give a shout out to the shrimp fried rice. I wanted some carbs with it and went for the rice over the noodles. The shrimp is crispy and the rice is a mix of sweet and savory. I'm not usually a fan of sweet and savory (and it's not that sweet) but it's really good. And they give you A LOT of rice for the serving. Highly recommend! read more

It really pains me to write this review, because not only is there a closer location to where I live, which would've made it very convenient if the food was good, but also because the owners and staff were beyond friendly and good natured. So, I really did want to love this place. Sadly, I did not. And, I am sorry to also report, we all got pretty bad food poisoning by the time we got home. First we got the fried rice with chicken, which turned out to be a nice dark soy fried rice covered with ample amounts of basically kung pao flavor chicken. This was the most successful part of the meal, and it was downed by my kid. This definitely was not the food poisoning culprit as he was the only one who didn't get sick. The garlic noodles was a large serving, but sadly I have to say the flavor was horrible; probably the worst I've ever had. I don't know why I've suddenly found two or three establishments where the garlic noodles are so completely different than what is usually a standard dish everywhere and generally tastes the same wherever else I usually find it. Then we had wings. The best ones we tried were the water buffalo, which had a nice, falvorful buffalo sauce on them. In the okay category were the spicy Cambodian dirt (a dry rub), which unfortunately was not spicy, and the spicy, sweet garlic, which looked great but were just okay. I think the culprit for the sickness was the Dirty Elvis wings. The flavor on these was actually good, but right away the chicken I noticed had a gamey flavor and odd chewiness about it. Basically, I had high hopes and they were not met by the wings or noodles, even if the fried rice was good. I doubt I will be try their other Pasadena location, and I definitely doubt I will come back here after getting so sick. Sadly, I cannot recommend. read more

I love it here! Shlap Muan is (or was) one of the best hidden gems in my area, but now I see it popping up on "best" lists, so I'm glad it's getting the recognition they deserve. What makes this place special is their unique Asian wing flavors and the exceptional service! The price is also affordable when wing prices at other joints seem to have really increased their prices as of late. If you're going for something savory, I would recommend the Pekang flavor for a dry rub and for something a little more sweet and spicy, I would highly recommend the Dirty Elvis. I've done large orders with them a couple times and they package the wings very nicely, with the box tops open to not make the orders soggy during the drive. The interior has a decent amount of tables to for sit-down eating, and also has some partnered dessert places and some swag for purchase. Parking is plentiful in a large plaza lot and the staff here is super friendly. Highly recommend! read more

First thing to commend about is their customer service. Sometimes Asian owned small businesses' service is not always the best. They tend to be rude or are difficult to understand, but not here at Shlap Muan. They are so nice, so helpful with their different sauces and seasonings. Very attentive and sociable even though it's counter order system, if you're eating there, they make sure everything is going well. As for the food, I was referred to by another YELP Elite member that I met at an event who recommended Shlap Muan to me. The taste of the chicken itself was phenomenal. Nice and crispy and juicy. Even with the wet marinade of the Dirty Elvis, it was super crunchy and flavorful. The other two flavors we tried were the Cambodian Dirt and Pekang. Even though the Cambodian dirt is their number one seller, it was not my favorite flavor profile. The Pekang having a Peking Duck flavor profile, it was my favorite of the three. The dried seasoning was saltier than what I like, but it was good. I will come back because they have other flavors I need to try.
