We stop by Tenglong every time we're in the city, hungry or not. Been coming since 2014, and the food never misses. The Dry Fried Chicken Wings are amazing. Get the diced version for boneless pieces. Christina introduced us on to the Cantonese-style Salt and Pepper wings, which are just as good with a milder but satisfying kick. Dinner portions come as 6 huge pieces, perfect for sharing. For family-style dinner we round it out with Beef Chow Fun and Honey Walnut Prawns. Any of their fried rice versions pair well with their wings and shrimp dishes. Also, their dim sum options are nice appetizers. It's a smaller spot with a lot of takeout traffic, so expect a short wait, but the place is so clean and it's always worth it! Christina runs the front and always makes time to talk food and family. If you're open to it, she'll steer you toward something new worth trying. I just had won ton soup, a fresh, healthy version with zucchini, spinach and water chestnuts along with the tasty pork won tons and umami broth. With a side of rice I'm warm and full. My companion had their usual hot and sour soup and pan fried pot stickers. We sort of battled over the bits of sauce and cabbage left on our plates. I searched for a place to eat in the Richmond District that was open and simple. I wasn't looking for anything that served exotic, expensive or fancy meals. A meal that I was familiar with that wouldn't upset my stomach. We ordered the lunch specials - Sesame Chicken and Kung Pao Shrimp. Both meals came with the soup if the day which was hot and sour soup. The food wasn't greasy or too spicy. Although, I must say, the choice of Kung Pao Shrimp made my lips and tongue tingle for a while. Thank goodness for antacids if this meal would upset my stomach later. (It didn't by the way) The woman who seated and served us was very nice. The restaurant was clean and inviting. I rated my visit the way I did not because anything was wrong, but that the meal we had wasn't too exciting. However, I would definitely be coming back and ordering a different dish that doesn't have a pepper next to it! read more

I got the notification that food was ready (took me about 20 minutes to get there because I was leisurely walking the pup), so I went with my pup to pick it up and by then it started raining. First drizzling and then heavy rain. When I got there, the lady working there told me that she accidentally tapped the button that says it was ready on the app, but in reality they haven't cooked anything yet because she said it will take another 30 minutes. I told her I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes (raining and I have to get my pup home) and ask to cancel. This is where it went really downhill. She told me to cancel on the app. Well guess what?!? Because she tapped the order as done earlier, it wouldn't refund me. It said that the vendor already started cooking (they haven't; why ask me to wait another 30 minutes if it's ready?!?) The App said that the restaurant should have cancel if they can't fulfill the order. Not the customer. Hmm...is that why she ask me to cancel instead? Now I know... So beware. If it's not ready when it's supposed to be ready, and you can't wait, don't let them trick you in canceling. read more

This place is awesome. While hospitalized, a visitor brought me chicken soup, garlic noodles and salt & pepper shrimp. (Yes, medical staff knew ahead of time food was being brought to me. 3 meals a day for 10 days and only 1 of those hospital meals was edible. I NEEDED real food.) I wasn't able to eat very much but what I did eat was amazing. Two days out of the hospital and I had to try Tenglong again, just to make sure hospital hunger didn't make Tenglong's food taste so good. AGAIN, AMAZING! Every time I go to San Francisco, I will be getting food from Tenglong. I don't even mind that parking is a nightmare. There are several restaurants in the area that I will be trying. Tenglong is now my favorite Chinese food restaurant. Excellent customer service and the place was extremely clean. We can in for super late lunch and there wasn't any diners but a few take outs at 3pm. The food took a while to come out so we knew nothing was precooked and reheated. That's a plus. Decor was dated but cozy. We had 6 people and they were able to combined another table for us to seat comfortably. This place is suitable for singles, small groups, party of 4, and I would call to confirm if it's more people in your party. Service was good. Plate size is definitely small portions.
