I didn't take a photo of the disappointment of a plate I had but it was pretty much the chicken kabob plate w/ spicy hummus and potato salad: The chicken and veggies were way over charred/burnt, barely any chicken at all. The rice was all mushy nothing compared to how it was, and the pita bread cold as hell. Another thing is the hot sauce, I think it was Tabasco sauce they gave us, which was terrible with the food. I write this while I stand and wait. I cannot believe how slow and lack of urgency in filling orders!!! Wake up staff and owner! Called in my mixed shwarma order and it was screwed up when I got there. They have to remake it but even then, I am waiting over 15 mins now. The order was placed by phone at 630pm. It is now 715pm. Goodness sakes! And because they screwed up, my tabouleh is also all out so I can't even have my side! Geez. What a let down for my 1st time here. What they should have done was give me my messed up plate and provide the missing beef sharwarma so I can be on my way. Apologize so I can feel like they care about customer service and will want to return again. I went home and had the food for the very first time. It is really tasty!! I ordered the 2 kabob plate, 1 chicken & 1 steak. My favorite was the chicken, it had great flavor and was very moist. The steak was good, I just enjoyed the chicken more. The salad that came on the plate was delicious, I could drink the dressing. The hummus was super creamy. I loved the garlic cream stuff (don't know what it's called). I've cooked many cuts of beef, from rare to well done. I'm not even sure if we can call this Chicken Shawarma. "Dry unseasoned chicken thigh chopped on a griddle" was the exact thoughts that popped up as I saw the cook throw the chicken on there. I'm a fan of Mediterranean cuisine & I have to say this place may be a small hole in the wall but it's definitely a hidden gem in Whittier! Currently, there is no dine-in service only online ordering and take out. My bf & I ordered the Chicken kabob plate but with different sides. The plate is served with chicken, 3 sides, garlic spread, and pita bread. One thing I really like about this establishment is that you have the choice to pick 3 different sides along with the plate! You could replace the rice with salad or any other type of side. Some of the sides that I ordered & loved were the cucumber yogurt salad, cucumber & tomato salad w/light oil dressing, & these grilled veggies w/a somewhat sweet light dressing. The hummus is served with little green olives that had a very typical taste. The other sides they have are sliced potatoes, tabbouleh salad. The chicken is packed with flavorful spices and was cooked just right, they honestly give a generous amount (8 pieces). Don't get me started on the garlic spread.... it definitely had a kick to it, my bf said, "It's like a garlicky, creamy, horseradish type taste & it was pretty damn good!" I personally couldn't put my fork down, I ate the whole plate in one sitting. I will definitely be back along with my mom (another fan of Mediterranean food.) We ordered the the chicken kebab plates. The kebabs and rice were good & seasoned well, they cooked them to order so they were served nice and hot and were cooked right, not over or under done. We did not eat the salad on our plates due to not liking feta cheese and unaware that was going to be on them. This place is doing online sales as Mediterranean Rice Bowls and the food quality is terrible. O order from JDO about four years ago and never returned. Than, this past week I found the option in DoorDash as the rice bowl place and ordered without checking. So, when informed by the delivery person that the food was late, I asked if the restaurant was JDO and he said, yes. When the food was delivered, the food was as bad as four years back. Items were missing, the hummus tasted rancid, the meat was just defrosted and was salty. Nothing compared or had similar to the online menu pictures. The food went to the trash immediately and would not feed it to my enemies, if I had any! Finally, I had to go as far as disputing the payment and asked the card company to recoup the payment, because the attached pictures tell the full story. Update. Omar the owner contacted me to offer a refund and tried to flip the script, saying that I received a refund and a free meal, which is NOT true. The excuse shared was to blame it on being too busy. Being busy, does not excuse the poor food quality, where is the ownership for a bad product. As noted before he open a new business line to obscure the restaurant reputation and continue duping buyers. Hopefully, he can turn it around by selling quality food. NEW MANAGEMENT SUCKS. The new staff is okay and quite nice actually, but they got rid of all the old workers. I should add that the new manager is extremely rude and unaccommodating. I have been coming here for around 3 years and it is Not the same as it used to be. They Changed the pita, changed the falafel (more fried bread crumbs than chikpeas), halved the portion sizes while raising the prices for everything, got rid of/charge for sauce now, the new cheese borak is tiny and terrible for $2.50(they also only give you one prepackaged borak), the rice now is soggy and way too oily, it wont be busy but the wait times now are 20-30 minutes, etc... Honesty I have been really let down the past month (when new management came in) I have been coming here, I hope they can go back to their old ways. in the mean time I will be taking my business to the green olive. read more

JDO was one of my favorite restaurants, for years I would tell everyone who was visiting uptown that JDO needed to be where they grabbed food. It was always so fresh and flavorful. I hadn't stopped in for about 16 months due to a schedule change at work that kept me away, I finally got back on a normal schedule and couldn't wait to stop in. I decided to take a few plates to my coworkers and when I sat down and opened my togo plate I could see instantly that it had gone down hill in quality. The rice was flavorless and dried out, the beef shwarma had the texture of leather and the chicken shwarma was just inedible, It was gray in color and didn't look fit for human consumption. I'm so sad writing this. I truly loved JDO, I don't know what happened here, if there was a cook that left or if they changed owners, but the food they are serving now is just plain bad. 1/10 stars read more
