Some Like It Hot and some like it Sizzlin'. I received my $5 off b-day coupon from this sizzlin' place, so I paid their salad bar a visit. Who knew that you could now take the salad bar to go? With all the salad bar options, I'm not sure this would be an inexpensive option but anywho.... You also wouldn't have an ENDLESS SUPPLY ---- of that incredible cheese bread that Sizzler is known for if you take it to go. I guess I haven't been to a Sizzler in a while since I didn't know that they had Carnitas now. Their meat was so flavorful that I had to go back for seconds. I made my own nachos with the chips, cheese, sour cream and carnitas. Then I made myself carnita tacos. I really couldn't get enough of that meat. By the time I finished my carnita tacos, the waiter brought out my cheese bread. The cheese bread wasn't toasted enough. I was so mad since I was jonesing for some scrumptious Sizzler cheese bread. This particular Sizzler location is located in Culver City across from the Westfield Mall. It is DEFINITELY worth a visit or two. To be truthful, I honestly don't even know why this place even has a menu. Certainly, they've got steak & shrimp, Malibu chicken and even hamburgers on deck.... all of which, are tasty HOWEVER.... it's obvious that the "break out star" of this establishment is by FARRRRR......... This is not an inexpensive place to get a steak. a steak and a salad cost as much here as it would in a regular steakhouse. but, you do get all you want from the salad bar and you get some dessert. The steak was very tasty, relatively tender, and cooked exactly as I asked. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant seemed relatively clean. Parking was close, and it was safe. This is the first time I had eaten at a sizzler in about 20 years. Honestly, I did not know they still existed. I'm glad I stopped here for dinner. one of my favorite things at sizzler continues to be there blue cheese salad dressing. It might be the best blue cheese salad dressing on Earth. A friend and I went to this location in Culver City after leaving the mall. We were promptly seated, the food arrived lukewarm, and the ribs severely burnt! I asked for a manager; he arrived and stated it was a new law showing me something online saying all barbecue had to be cooked like this to a certain degree!! Okay... it has been YEARS since I have been to Sizzler, so it was fun to get reacquainted with this restaurant chain. All entrees are eligible to add 'Soup and Salad' bar. This choice actually also includes a dessert bar and another area with spaghetti, fried chicken and taco bar. This costs an additional $5.49. I ordered Fried Shrimp and a baked potato off the 'Small Plate Menu' at a cost of $10.49. Our entire bill for two entrees (my husband ordered a Small Plate 6 ounce Tri-Tip Steak). We both felt the food was pretty good. Our server was named 'Guy' and he provided great service. The restrooms were really in need of service (see photos), but the restaurant was quite crowded, so maybe I happened to go in there right before cleaning. I have never seen such cheap silverware at a restaurant- like something you would purchase at a 99 Cent Store. There was an informational flyer on the Sizzler Real Deal E-Club, which is a nice addition (free entree just for signing up). Despite the condition of the restrooms and cheap silverware, I am still giving Sizzler 4 Stars, because of the overall value. We paid $31.39 plus Tip, which we considered a bargain. Here's the deal: Was a delivery. Food was packed into a leaky, half open, wet, styrofoam container. The upgraded steak was jammed in up against a dried-out tiny lobster tail. The fries were in a soaked-through paper bag and smashed over the food. I mean, for this kind of $ I'd expect some care. Oh yeah, a single slice -yes, a single slice - of some kind of wonder bread, again soaked, and I'm guessing cheese? Look, for not much more $ I could have gotten dinner from Ruth's Chris, Del Frisco's or for the same $ any number of places that don't dump their food in a pile with grease all over the place. I patroned this is there Tuesday, August 30 around 7:30 PM. I ordered a steak and potato with the side salad bar. The salad bar was awful. Everything about it was wrong. I went especially for the broccoli cheddar soup. I went to get soup the pot was empty. I informed the waiters, 2 of them that the soup was empty. They bought a new pot out. I went to get a bowl & I filled my bowl with soup I don't know why I continued to fill my bowl because the soup was more liquidy than water. There was barely any broccoli in the soup. I took my bowl back to my table & I tasted it & it was jus awful. I informed my waiter & he jus agreed with me that it was watery. I also got the Cesar salad & it was sandy like it had sand or ground glass in the lettuce. OMG the worse experience ever. Another family came in & sat just a table in front of me & I overheard them tell the waiter about the salad. The waiter then took the bowl of romaine lettuce & came to their table with it to inform them that he had washed the lettuce off. At this point I AM DONE! We visited this location yesterday evening. Management of this location came off very unprofessional. This is mainly about the manager working at the time we visited. I believe her name is Gigi. It started while trying to order our dinner and her assumption of who was going to eat the added salad bar and being told it couldn't be shared. She wasn't accepting my order until she charged us the full price vs "added" salad price. Honestly it was a few dollars and I did not want to continue with this. I've never experienced this at any other Sizzler. Then when I asked about the senior discount for 50 and over she said no it was only for 65 and over. This is also something that was done different at another Sizzler. When I asked about it she said it could be different because the restaurant is a franchise. Moving on, we proceeded to sit for dinner. My mother order a ribeye steak cooked medium. It came to her so hard that she had a hard time being able to cut it so she sent it back. Then it came back rare with the blood coming out of it when you cut it in the middle. So we sent it back again and then it came back closer to what medium is. We all finished eating by this point and so my mom decided to just take everything to go. There's nothing worse than when you take your mom to eat and she couldn't eat what she ordered and did not enjoy herself! Meanwhile our waiter was clearly stressed the whole time and I saw the manager questioning him but she never came over to ask us anything. Our waiter later apologized and explained that they were short staffed because someone called out. There was so much tension in that restaurant and I truly believe it starts with management. I paid for a stuffed potato with Sour cream, chives, butter, and bacon. I received a baked/boiled potato that was taken right out the pan. A small cup of butter was next to it. No accoutrements were to be had. Additionally I paid for a bottle of Steak Sauce and it was omitted. I was charged almost $5 for it. The cheese toast had hard seeds in it. A quality sourdough bread needs to be used. The ribeye steak was very chewy. It wasn't memorable. I paid $94 total for a meal that was maybe a 6/10. I do not like not receiving items that were paid for. Additionally, the wait time for someone to acknowledge my presence was 20 minutes and I ordered via Grubhub. After frequenting the location on Western for years, we decided to give this location a try as it appeared slightly higher rated, and are glad we did. For those that may not know, Sizzler is far and away one of the best values for AYCE in LA--which is a rarity outside KBBQ. If you want to have a great meal where everyone is stuffed for $12-$15/pp, look no further--everyone in this economy is looking for a nice dining experience that won't break the bank and it doesn't get any better than this, esp for AYCE in LA.. The cold, hot and dessert bars are enough to satisfy any appetite and the variety is more than sufficient. This location was brighter, airy, and had a festive atmosphere with a lot of regulars that came back, and for good reason. There are little extras I haven't seen at other locations, like roasted jalapeños and even menudo soup! We were especially impressed with the service provided by Guy, who clearly is a career waiter and takes pride in everything he does--even asking if you want lemons with your water. He mentioned he's been with the company for 35 years and at this location for 15--Guy was truly the icing on the cake for a very pleasant experience and everyone left satisfied. Decent all you can eat salad bar. Some good menu items. Steaks are ok I'm a big fan of the Malibu Chicken and who doesn't like the cheese toast ? No one! Everybody loves the cheese toast. I once had a job interview at NVIDA they flew me to San Jose and the sizzler was right by my hotel. I was broke as crackhead at the time and I used the per diem debit card they gave me to eat lunch at the sizzler. I got the all you can eat shrimp. I had a zip lock freezer bag in my back pack and I loaded it up with several pounds of shrimp then took them back my hotel room so I had food for the whole weekend. During the 5 hour 6 person interview Process I was sneaking shrimps out my backpack. The office is under complete video surveillance and they caught me eating the shrimp! I'd say that this was perhaps one of the best deals on the menu. The "salad" portion of the bar was your typical smaller-sized salad bar with pasta salads, prepared salads, cottage cheese, jello, fruit, and other fun things. The soup section was stocked with three soups - Fall Pumpkin, New England Clam Chowder, and Chicken Noodle Soup. There is also a really neat Taco / Naco bar at this location, where they have taco shells, ground beef (?), cheeses, fresh salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and all the fixings. The best thing was the salt and peppered roasted jalapenos! There is also fried chicken wings and spaghetti at this bar! Winner! The dessert section looked really fun - soft serve ice cream, four types of cakes, brownies, and all of the fun toppings to go along with it. For my meal, I got 1/2 cup serving of the clam chowder and one taco. I was done eating after this! :) I'm sure glad that my coworker enjoyed her meal! Anyway... they were visiting tonight and we all decided to go here for the first time. There was actually a LOT of people in this Sizzler. At the salad bar.. it looked like one big traffic jam. I'm not sure why it was packed... Although.. 80% of the people in here liked to eat...... Compared to other Sizzler Restaurants i've been in.. this one is actually one of the better ones. Their Cheesebread for one is bigger. Also.. there are more dessert items. :) Their clam chowder wasn't that good though. It was worse than Jerry's Famous Deli's clam chowder. 5 Stars for the service here . We stopped by to have lunch today and the young lady Rejean at the found counter greeted us and was so friendly and made us feel very welcome . She gave us options and told us about the lunch specials. We had the salad bar and everything was clean and fresh and delicious. There were so Many items to choose from . The waiter Raul stopped by our table several times to check on us . As soon as we finished, he cleared our plates. But one of the most impressive things that happened was I left my phone in the booth and didn't realize it u til I got home . I rushed back to the restaurant and the busboy turned it in and Martha and Raul were right there to let me k ow they had my phone . Unbelievable!!!! Definitely one of the nicer sizzlers around. Salad bar is always fresh, clean, and fruit in season even in the middle of winter :) And there clam chowder is my fav outside of Boudin's in SF. I've always had very nice and attentive servers here and the restaraunt itself is clean. I never eat anything other then the salad bar so I can't speak on their actual entrees, but the salad bar a lone is more than satisfying. read more
