Once seated, you place your order using the iPad on the table which I actually like because you get to take your time and don't feel rushed. From what I can remember there's about 14-18 tables which fits about 4 each table. The plates come out sizzling, literally. And it makes sure that you leave smelling just like it. There's music playing inside of the restaurant which keeps the vibes great. Beef Udon -- 3.5/5. The portion is a lotttt smaller vs the rice sizzling plate. The udon noodles are soft so they get stuck to the sizzling plate which makes it harder to eat. Garlic Pepper Rice -- 4/5. I added chili powder and a lottttt of garlic soy. The plate definitely needed the garlic soy for flavoring. After mixing up the garlic soy and chili powder I'd say it was good. I honestly preferred the rice plate over the udon plate because of portion and texture. It seems that a rice plate is too much for one person, but too little for two people. It worked out perfectly since it was just my partner and I, so I guess it was a good idea that I got one udon plate and one beef plate. Next time, we're definitely sticking to the rice plate. This is the second time I have gotten the blonde waitress as my server today, and she is consistently rude, never speaks, and rolls her eyes over bringing a dish to the table. As a woman who has worked multiple service jobs I know service can be a hard job to handle. But I also believe that kindness can go a long way, especially to people who are kind to you. But she is always rude and won't speak, even when spoken to. She always creates an unwelcome atmosphere at the restaurant for customers and makes me feel uncomfortable. I assume everyone has bad days, but she has been like this both times and is consistently very rude; The entire table both times noticed and felt so uncomfortable to even ask anything. Every time she brought a dish to the table, she would walk up, throw it down, and walk away. She was also very friendly with her coworker in the back, but whenever a customer speaks to her she would not speak at all nor even really make eye contact and just walk away. Most of us had either ordered the Garlic Beef Pepper Rice or the Kurabuta Pork Belly Pepper Rice with added toppings. Our entrees came out in about 3 waves since had such a large party. Once we all got to dig in, the flavors were nice, especially with the added sauces on each table. Our fave was the Garlic Shoyu! While all the guys in our group downed their meals, most of the girls had some leftovers after - so depending on how much you can eat, it's a good portioned meal! One complaint some of our party had was that the rice-to-protein ratio seemed off, with the plates having a lot more rice than meat. Our server I hope I have her name correctly (young Filipina named Camille?) was very attentive, personable and explained the whole menu. Considering the inflation happening, I expected the sizes to also drop. Fortunately, they were not and quality remained the same. If you have not been to Sizzling Lunch, the food is served hot and meat is slightly uncooked, and little to no sauce is added. Although there is a variety of at the table. It was quite busy on a lunch time on a weekday, so come before 12pm or during afternoon. Definitely not meant for those who have a big appetite. You pick what carb (rice/noodle), protein (steak, chicken, etc), and add-ons to create a plate. The stone plate is very hot and cooks the food as it sits on your table, so be sure to mix it up real fast if you want your beef more cooked. I opted for the spicy beef with udon noodles (costs more to add noodles, $1.50, why?!). The spicy paste was good, and it comes with a ball of butter which wasn't exactly yellow, it was grey ish... what is this? After mixing them all together it was really good and buttery - way to buttery for my taste. I added the garlic soy sauce on the table which was a bit watery, and it enhanced it a bit. Folks are saying it's plain, that's because it's just rice/noodle with slice beef, and crap tons of butter... you can easily make this at home. So the next few days I went to an Asian market and bought sliced beef and udon, corn, bell peppers, and made my own at home. I enhanced it by adding my own flavors and spices. My soy sauce mixture was a bit thicker, so I wonder if Sizzling Lunch waters down their soy sauce mixture to scale more. We came here for the first time last week. I really enjoyed both the rice plate and the noodle plate. I cant choose which I liked more as they both had unique traits. The noodles seemed to soak up the flavor a little bit more but the rice had a cool texture as it started to get crispy on the bottom. The place is pretty small so it can fill up quickly. We came early on a Friday night (5:30pm) and were seated right away but around 6-6:30pm there were people having to wait for others to leave before getting seated. You just go in, the host sits you down, and then you order on the app. You even order your water on the tablet. They don't check in on you. It's kind of like those restaurants where you order and then sit down. The food itself is a bit bland to be honest. I had to drown my food in the garlic Shoyu sauce and spicy miso to even taste something. I wish there was more seasoning but I even added cheese :(. My BFF ordered the pepper beef rice dish for us. You basically cook your own food on a sizzling hot plate. The best part of this meal is every bite is HOT, I like it when my food is HOT. My other favorite part is if you order the rice dish, you get crispy rice bits on the bottom of the cast iron plate. Crispy crunchy rice goodness. I liked it alot!
