There was a line out the door, social distancing happening, regulars chatting it up with the staff, lots of donuts still in the display case! If you've never had a cronut, picture if a croissant and a donut had a baby, this is the result. Flakey layered goodness with sugary coating/glaze on the outside. Awesome I found a new spot to pick up some sweet bites to share. The cronut holes are perfect for that. They feel light and fluffy with an outer sweet crunchiness. There cronuts are pretty big. These little beauties were amazing. Fresh for sure. Here is where I screwed up. I should have tried the cronuts but I didn't. For this, these bad boys were a little firm When I tried them hours later. That's my fault. I wanted to wait until I got home to share these donuts with the kids. The quality of maple donuts have sadly gone down. I remember when the old couple used to run this store or even right after the change in ownership a few years ago when the young ladies were running it - they didn't have as many options but their donuts were the best. My issue is the maple doesn't even look or taste like maple, so much that I didn't even think they had any maple donuts left in the case. Also the size of the donut and the texture of the donut has changed. It has grown smaller and not as dense / bready. The red velvet cake donut tasted nothing like red velvet (my daughter agreed) and also the cake seemed not as "cake flavored" as before. Not a donut person, but got a dozen donuts for my family on Christmas morning. This place is known for their Cronuts, so had to throw one of those in too. Everyone enjoyed these and said the quality was really good (a tad on the greasy side), but overall really good donuts. The best donuts in the UC/Newark area. If you don't know they make these amazing cronuts (croissant donuts) that my son loves. Either sugar or cinnamon sugar and they'll even fill them with custard for you. Yum! The donuts are very fresh made every day and we had them later in the day and even the following day and they did not lose too much luster. Which I consider a win. The service is friendly and they are super fast and efficient. I would highly recommend them for no frills and fresh donuts. If you are in the area, they are a must try. SK Donuts is a classic of Union City. This place is my childhood. I love these type of donuts over Krispy Kreme's -- hands down. However, they had Iced Vietnamese Coffee advertised on top of their donut display so I wanted to give it a try. In my honest opinion, I was very disappointed in the Vietnamese Coffee. Donuts are great ! They changed owners and I can't help notice that the place could use some changes. I was there today and honestly, the self serve counter has been neglected a lot, very messy and dirty.I know people make a mess but maybe they need more people to work on Saturday and keep it more organized. The owners that had it for years, kept it clean and organized at all times. I have not had a chance to try any of their amazing assortment of sandwiches. This place definitely needs to update their business hours on Yelp. The hours of operation stated updated 2 months ago, which I thought was fairly recent. Stated they closed at 4 pm. Got to the location at 2:20 pm and the sign at the door said closed at 2 pm. Called the phone number to double check and the voicemail said they will be closed on July 4, 2018. This shop and voicemail survived 2020. I think it deserves some credit. Update it. I hope the baked goods aren't as old and outdated as everything else in this shop read more
