I was disappointed with my experience tonight. I was in the area so I called in a to go order of a family size pepperoni pizza to bring home for my family. They told me 25 minutes so I timed it perfectly. The pizza wasn't ready when I arrived, in fact it wasn't ready for another 15 minutes from then. That was annoying, especially since I had hungry kids waiting at home, but I was pretty sure the pizza would be delicious and the hostess and staff were really nice and apologetic about the delay. Fast forward to arrival at my house. My husband opened the box to discover that half of the pizza didn't have any cheese. And of course we live 15 minutes away so it isn't like we are going to dash back over to get a replacement. I called over to let them know. I got an apology and a reason that it happened, but nothing else. I guess I expected an offer for a free pizza next time, or something more than "sorry". The half of the pepperoni pizza that had cheese was pretty good, but the other half was no bueno. Additionally, a family size pizza here is NOT cheap. Overall just a bad experience and I am disappointed. Edited from 2 to 3 stars - the manager just called me to apologize for the mishap. He was very polite and did his best to make it right. We'll give Skipolini's another try in the future. It is nice that they took time to call and make it right. Edited to 4 stars - my husband says I am being too harsh especially given the manager's response. I'm still grumpy but hopefully our next visit will be a 5 star visit. read more

So I'd like to start by saying I'm from the Bay Area but I have family that lives here and eats at this place pretty often so we decided to try it out.. so we ordered food for take out since we had a big group.. My uncle does come here often so he called the food in they said about 30 mins but when we got there to pick up food they were packed... so Jose and Todd (the Mangers) came out and addressed my uncle by his name which I thought was cool and said hey we got really busy so we will go to the back to to get your meal done.. 15 mins later Todd came out and said here is the food and let me help you out and load it in the car for you... this is what's its all about customer service at its finest!!!! Alright so Skipolini's comes to Reno! I grew up eating at Skip's in the east bay (Antioch to be exact) and anytime I go visit family I am sure to pick up my favorite pizza along with a side salad. Today was their first day open and my sister and I got there around 1pm. The interior of the new location has more of an Italian restaurant vibe instead of the casual pizza parlor feel of my hometown Skipolini's. No sawdust on the floor. No play structure outside. That surprised us but not in a bad way. It's nice inside though. Definitely could be a place for a casual date or maybe somewhere to take the parents when they come to town. I have never ordered anything from Skip's besides cheese pizza and a side salad. Always. But they have a nice Italian menu with your usual pastas and salads. The cocktail menu has a lavender mojito that I plan on trying sometime soon. They have a lunch menu (11-4pm) and also a small kids menu. My daughter and niece both ordered the kids spaghetti (6.95). It comes in a tomato based sauce with no meat and came with a side of bread. A pretty decent sized portion for a child. My picky daughter finished the whole bowl. My sister and I ordered the house salad (6.95) and a slice of cheese pizza (4.25 lunch menu). The pizza is exactly how we remember it. Sometimes sticking to the basics is best. I love their sauce. Perfect blend of tangy, salty, and sweet. It's a thin crust style of pizza and the crust may seem plain to some, but I love the simplicity of it. Sodas and Shirley Temples are 2.99. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because there were a few mix ups with the waitstaff but that's totally forgivable in my book because it was their first day open. Just a couple small things that I'm sure will get better in time. They brought my sister the wrong salad (but took it back no problem) and they tried to bring us more salad when we were leaving. And getting a drink refill was a bit slow. BUT everyone was very nice and professional and quick to fix the mistakes. I'm sure that will resolve itself in time and definitely won't stop me from returning. We also ordered extra pizzas to bring home to our boyfriends (and to eat later ourselves!) The table we were seated at, was dirty, but this was pointed out to us by the server and within a couple of minutes, the table was promptly cleaned. I am sorry, I forgot our server's name, I want to say Justice, but I can't be certain if that is correct or not. In any event, she was very attentive and efficient in taking our drink orders and answering any questions that we had. We ordered our favorite pizza the family sized Prego pizza and two Sangrias. We also asked for a side of ranch, oil and balsamic vinegar (i'll be adding a tip for this). When the pizza arrived I served everyone and after taking my first bite I noticed that the ground beef was under cooked (raw) on a couple of pizzas. I promptly informed our server who, informed Tony (owner/operator?) who then asked Clayton to come talk to us. Clayton was pleasant and professional as i explained to him what was going on and showed him the raw ground beef, he promptly took the pizza away and got a new one fired up. Without even asking Clayton brought a sangria by and asked me to please accept it for the inconvenience. The replacement pizza came out very quickly and it was cooked to perfection! The toppings were plentiful and the crust was like having fresh bread sticks at the end of each slice. There was so much food that even with the four of us eating this pizza and we still brought some home. While we were there I took a stroll around the restaurant and found that there was a full bar and plenty of comfortable seating both inside and out as well as rooms that can be "rented"out for large groups (hmm yelp event?). Small bites and cocktails is the way to go! You have to come in and try the artichoke dip. I have to say I'm totally not a huge fan of artichoke dip at normal places... But I seriously will come in here for cocktails and artichoke dip! It has this amazing smooth texture almost like a hot avocado dip?!?... And the fettuccine was just as good. The service here is amazing, the location is easy to get in and out of, it's nice and open and wide, you can see your food being made it through a glass Wall!, You guys know that it's important for me to see the way the kitchen is ran and how the food is prepped. They have this really cool outdoor fireplace area, that is my most favorite to sit and sip and nibble on a few things while enjoying amazing company. I have to say... I wasn't very impressed with the pizza. We have so many amazing pizza places in town, they will really have to step up their game to compete. This is your typical chain Italian place. Inside is very nicely set up, however, it is very dark in the main dining room. We had the calamari for an appetizer which came with a creamy dipping sauce. It seemed like it was premised and just tossed in the fryer which is normal for these kinds of restaurants. I got the Cajun pasta. It was a large portion size with great flavor. My friend got the chicken Parmesan which they said was pretty good too! They have a large piece of breaded chicken with it. Our service was good. We didn't really like how the manager treated some guests who wanted to sit outside. He could have said the outdoor seating was closed, but instead he said something along the lines of "come on. Why would you sit out there? Don't you know that everyone over here will have to hold on to their food when people come in and out of these doors?!" He wasn't wrong in that it was ridiculous to sit outside, but it wasn't the nicest way to treat a customer. Really 3.5 but I'm feeling generous. Nice place to meet up with friends before or after a movie. My friend and I met up on a early Sunday afternoon for lunch and ordered a simple meal of drinks and appetizers to share. They are fairly new, so they are still working out the kinks here. I got the calamari, which for just a tad under $10 was pretty pricy for the amount they served. I had to ask for lemon, which seems standard to serve with calamari everywhere else. The two different sauces served were okay, nothing too memorable - in fact, I barely touched either one. My friend's Caprese salad was lovely, nice thick slices of heirloom tomato with little ribbons of basil and thin slices of mozzarella. We had one very tiny glitch, which was a misunderstanding on the tip on final bill of $23. The manager was able to fix it without too much fuss and we were grateful that it was sorted out without drama. PRO TIP: Let them know as soon as you sit down if you are headed to the movies so they know if you are concerned about timing. My husband and I were so excited about a new restaurant opening at the Summit Mall, and bonus it's Italian. What a disappointment!! Do not fall for the 'greatest garlic bread' hype. It's not and definitely not worth the price. I ordered Chicken Piccata. It was completely tasteless. It was swimming in some type of juice with ton of capers. I like capers but this was ridiculous. They served it with 2 wedges of lemon that were filled with seeds (shaking my head). Who is going to squeeze lemons over their food knowing they would have to spit out seeds later? Way over priced. Overall slightly better than average. The Cajun pasta had a bit more heat than it should have which diminishes the flavor profile of the entire dish. I prefer a well rounded flavor vs higher Scoville ratings. Not "hot" by any means, but a bit overwhelming for the style of dish. Chicken Parm was flavorful and tender and the penne pasta was nicely cooked. The lower rating is a result of running out of beverage and having to eat the majority of the meal dry. Also observed the server clean the floor with a napkin, pick up the napkin with her gloves hand, throw it away, and then immediately grab the water pitcher and filled my glass. For those of you with at least a baker's dozen of brain cells, you will understand that the soil from the floor is now transferred to my glass, the pitcher and everything else the server touches until they wash their hands/gloves. Skipolinis is where the old Firkin and Wolf was located in the Summit Mall area, great location and the owners did a great job with the interior and exterior of this place. When you walk in you see a giant "SKIPS" sign made out of cool lights, nice touch and classy. Off to the left there is a room with shuffleboard and seating (another nice touch and possible late night hangout). On the same topic of shuffleboard there are also two cornhole games outside. The patio has a nice seating area with a nice television and both tables and lounge areas. Now onto the food! We got the fried ravioli and a pizza, both were great and on par with other good pizza places in Reno. It had TONS of pepperoni on it and that's pretty much the sole reason for 2 stars. It's a thin crust pizza and there was a pool of grease underneath it, on the pizza pan. I got the Mediterranean pasta with gf noodles. One of the worst pasta dishes I've ever had. The noodles were so over cooked that they were mushy and falling apart. Very little flavor or seasoning. I didn't know this place existed! I noticed it when I was getting my movie ticket for Mamma Mia next door at the theatre. Met my daughter there and we were not disappointed! Happy hour is until 6 pm, and drinks and appetizers are at a reduced price. I had a 22 oz sangria which was huge with plenty of fresh fruit and flavorful ! We didn't get an appetizer as we felt it would be too much food with our pizza and dessert. We shared a medium 14" pizza half cheese, half pepperoni mushrooms artichokes. This was my first time at this restaurant and I was not disappointed. We sat out on the patio, which got a little chilly, but the heat lamps warmed us up. The only downside was the main fireplace, which we sat right next to, was being serviced so they couldn't light it. In terms of food, you can't go wrong! We started with the bacon wrapped jalapeños which were nice and spicy and savory. Not breaded as I had expected but still so good. I ordered the eggplant Parmesan with the zucchini noodles which was incredible. It was a little cold but I asked for a side of sauce which warmed it up nicely. What I loved about this meal is that I was able to eat the whole thing and didn't feel stuffed like I would have with regular noodles. My friends ordered the margarita pizza and the Cajun pasta which I tasted to give the stamp of approval and they passed. All the food was so satisfying and the portions were very large. Then we finished the meal with a creme brûlée, a tiramisu and some decaf coffee. The service was phenomenal and our waitress was very patient with us. Not going to lie, when we first were seated I was kind of rubbed the wrong way. The restuarant was not very busy and they still tried to sit us at a tiny, little table tucked in the back corner of the restuarant until my boyfriend asked for a different table. They did happily oblige. We were approached quickly to get out drink orders. I ordered the Cherry Bomb which was AMAZING and my boyfriend was happy with his hard lemonade drink, not sure what it was called. We ordered the garlic bread appetizer and I'm so glad we did. Perfect garlicky flavor with delicious melty cheese on top and a garlic sauce to dip it in. Yum! I ordered blackened salmon and the boyfriend got shrimp scampi. We came as a group of 7 during the pandemic and they seated us at two tables next to each other, four and 3. Both tables started with Calamari which was served with a tomato dip (somewhere between marinara and cocktail sauce), plus an aioli. We all seemed to prefer the aioli, as there was none left when the plate was empty. I had a half Caesar which had an appropriately creamy and garlic dressing, just as one would expect. For entree, zucchini noodles featuring artichokes, cauliflower and feta (Pappardelle on the light menu). I've had this dish before, this time it had way too much liquid (possibly water?) and I pushed all of the cauliflower to the side, I wasn't feeling it. But I did enjoy the rest of the components! My tablemates had chicken parmigiana that looked and was reported to be delicious. We forgot about gelato and were reminded on the way out that the door that we would have ordered some to finish! I avoided going to Skipolini's for the longest time because I heard it was super expensive and overpriced. I went yesterday with a girlfriend of mine and I have to say that they menu is not priced much higher than your standard BJ's or Red Robin. The food is pretty much the same as those types of eateries as well. The customer service is where they were lacking though. Seating happened quick enough. The host was a polite young man who smiled and gave us menu's right away however when our waiter asked us if we knew what we wanted to order (we didn't) he disappeared without a trace for a good 20 minutes while we waited for someone to come back and ask us if we wanted a drink. Our food came up pretty quick which was nice but the funny part about that was we hadn't been given any silverware so we had to wait for that as well. My Italian sandwich was pretty flavorless. The waitress asked if I wanted a box to take the rest home. I told her truthfully that I didn't because it wasn't very good. She unexpectedly took the whole sandwich off my bill which was very appreciated. I might go back if friends or a group wanted to but it wouldn't be by choice. Had a very nice lunch with a friend here today. The restaurant inside is very beautiful and first class. Our waitress Ashley was on top of it, a great server, food all correct and in a most timely manner. I enjoyed the Italian Wedding Soup and a delicious Caesar Salad Fresh with lemon and croutons and lots of parm. cheese. My friend had the Godfather sandwich with roast beef mushrooms and caramelized onions and a nice Caesar salad also. We both thought the portions were on the small size, not much meat on the sandwich, rather small salad, and soup on the small size also. I hosted a bridal shower at Skipolini's in June and it was absolutely wonderful! From the start Todd was so great to work with. He listened to everything we asked for from special linens to cocktails to the room set up. No detail was overlooked. Jose, the Manager, took over for Todd and he didn't skip a beat. He helped set up the room and made sure the day went smoothly. The servers were outstanding! They kept the food and drinks coming. We ordered both white and red sangria, caesar salad and garlic bread, shrimp scampi with zucchini noodles, pesto ravioli and three different pizza options. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!! Tried this place for dinner after someone told me about it. This is a chain restaurant, which I'm not a fan of, but I wanted to try it anyway. The chain is from Los Angeles and it's new to Reno. Truthfully, I never heard of it. The location replaced Tequila Rock and among other businesses. The interior is well-appointed, if too much for what was a family-type restaurant. The drink menu had a good assortment. I opted for a Cline zinfindel. I ordered a roast beef panini with caramelized onions and mushrooms with a horseradish sauce. Order came with a choice of Caesar salad, soup or fries. I chose the soup, which was clam chowder. I didn't order a pizza (the specialty) because my company and I were not that hungry. My verdict was that my order was dry and overcooked, but the clam chowder with bits of bacon and parsley was very good. We also ordered a beautiful and tasty caprese and a Greek pasta. The restaurant's power went out toward the end of our meal, but was quickly restored in about 10 minutes. I've been here a couple of times and was never really impressed. The service is great, the atmosphere is nice, but the food is just terrible! Everything has always just been really tasteless and has always left me with an upset stomach, definitely not worth it. This last time we went, our table was next to the patio doors. My friend and I watched for over 20 minutes two girls, about 6-9 years old, tearing apart the patio, throwing the cushions over the glass, climbing and standing on tables, and kicking chairs over. Parents were nowhere to be seen outside, and staff did nothing to put an end to it, which I can understand, but I would think they would try to find a parent to stop their kids from destroying their patio. The bar doesn't disappoint with lots of seating options and big screen TVs if you are into sports. The bar appetizers are also a tasty snack. However, we ordered dinner here this week and it was overpriced and highly processed (adding chicken to a dish was not the best option for my guest). It didn't stand up to the bill. We've been living in the area for over two years and have been talking about visiting this place the entire time. Luckily, today was my birthday and we wanted to try something new. We were greeted promptly and with friendly faces. They accommodated our need for a booth with our baby boys carseat. Our daughter loved the big family style booth! We had some Meiomi wine, which is always fantastic. I had the blackend salmon and my wife had the Cajun pasta. Each dish had their amazing touches. I love this restaurant!!! They have great Italian food, great gelato, and great Italian sodas. All of there calzones, pizza and pastas are outstanding. The employees are all friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more
