Have been here a couple of times, and have experienced good service and tasty food, with good portions. One of our favorites is the pizza. We ordered a veggie pizza which was amazing! The crust was nice and chewy, with flavorful sauce and super fresh and plentiful veggies. We are fans of more substantial pizza, not paper thin crust. Skipolinis delivered. Salads are also very tasty and fresh. Our server was very attentive, but not annoying. The place is pretty busy on weekends, but our server didn't skip a beat. Not impressed! I had only been here one other time, about 2 years ago, and it was fine. I came on family night. The pizza was decent too. Tonight we came, and it wasn't even busy, but the service was lousy. The waiter took our order, but then other waiters had to do his job. They had to bring us ranch (had requested original waiter), refill our water (after having to ask), take our plates away, and then had to ask for our check. The other server even had to ask us where our server was. Also, the pizza was really lousy. $35.00 for rock hard thin crust, and skimpy toppings on our 1/2 margarita and bbq pizza. My family and I love the Skipolini's in Roseville, so when we found out we were getting one here, we were super excited! We've been here a few times since the location opened and it seems to have significantly gone down hill. We used to LOVE their cheesy garlic bread but when we went last night, it was not good. Like would not bother ordering again, not good. We also ordered their raviolis and the Martinelli pizza. The Martinelli was delicious but the raviolis has little flavor. Extremely disappointed in those. The reason I am giving it three stars is because I know how potentially delicious this restaurant is but the last couple of visits have not lived up to the hype. We did a take out order for Mothers Day. While there ended up being some mistakes that I didn't notice until I got home, the food was good. Excellent veal parmigiana, very good chicken picatta and good blackened salmon. The family size ceasar salad was yummy. We missed the bread which is a highlight but was missing. I called and spoke to Todd, the manager. He was polite and accompanied us with a generous credit toward our next visit. After a little evening hike that ended up taking longer than anticipated, it was 9:15 at night and my friend and I were looking for a place to eat. Skipolini's is open until 10:30 on Fridays so we decided to check it out! The first thing we saw when we walked in was the cute little gelato bike! Even though we hadn't yet eaten, the young lady offered us a taste and we happily accepted - the chocolate and Crème brûlée were delish. We were quickly seated outdoors, where they have a great setup, especially for these warm summer nights. Our waiter, Wes, was great! Very attentive, helpful, and fun - even though they were less than an hour from closing, which didn't go unnoticed. I ordered the toscana panini and my friend got the zucchini pappardelle. Mine was good, the soft warm bread was definitely he highlight. I had a bite of the pappadelle and it was out of this world! I wish I had ordered that instead and certainly plan to return for it. Well, There was no wait which is a good thing, we did create confusion ourselves by asking to be moved to the bigger booth, they did but then there was a big party that arrived as we were placing the order and they kindly moved us to a smaller booth in a different section. I ordered angel shrimp pasta and my wife got a chicken Alfredo, we ordered garlic bread as well and we're sitting patiently waiting for the food. The food came in wrong, they messed up my order with angel shrimp pasta but offered to add shrimps on side, I asked them to remake the dish, little wait and it was all here, very delicious, I would give food 6-7 out of 10, it's a great tasting menu and the waiters were very friendly. This place has the opportunity to be different from the big chain Italian American fast food. The building is decorated really well and has a beautiful layout. The personnel are not the friendliest. I think I was seated across from where the owner was eating lunch so all the attention was on him and his party. It took over 20 min for my food to arrive from when I ordered it. I had lasagna and it could have been fantastic except that the bottom was burned, the noodles all in one piece and not layered the rest was soup. Plus I could have branded my face the plate was soo hot! Great way to ruin a classic Italian favorite. Let me mention that this was ordered off the lunch menu and came with nothing. No salad a tiny piece of microwaved bread that looked crunchy but In fact was a mushy mess. All of that and the bill was 18+ dollars a little high for a piece of lasagna soup and a Pepsi. Anyway has potential but needs to re evaluate quality and service. Update: 12/01/2018 Absolute dumpster fire!!! I won't be back ever again. Service has gotten worse to the point where I don't know how they stay in business. Food was about the same except for our appetizer. Sloppy gooey mess and they call it fresh. We ordered food for pick up. We got there about 30 mins later and they said it would be about 20-25 mins, food not ready. No biggie, because we have never been so we were checking out the place. After a couple of mins, they call us up and say the kitchen put the wrong ingredients on the pizza, we have to make it over. Again, no biggie because this atmosphere is pretty cool. Lots of "hanging out" room. Outside patio had nice tables and chairs. They have heaters outside and a nice flat screen. I loved the room inside because they hag a nice shuffleboard, which is cool and free! We played for a while waiting for our food. The pizza tasted good. Thick fluffy crust, however both pizzas were pretty close to burnt, a little dark brown. Tasted great besides that. We ordered 2 orders of winds and garlic bread also. I would think with all the wings and bread, they would give you more that 1 mini cup of ranch. The garlic bread was HEAVY on the garlic, like lots of small cut up pieces on top. Quickly becoming our go to Italian restaurant in South Reno! The food is good! The staff is fast and efficient! The drinks are large! A solid Italian restaurant! The staff is wonderful! There is not usually a wait! The food is great! The decor is pretty. The place feels clean. It's a solid restaurant! Is it the best Italian in Reno? No. But it's the only Italian in South Reno. And it pretty darn good! So we go here. The food is wonderful! My hubby always gets the spaghetti I always try different things. But the coolest part, for little kiddos, they let them make their own pizza. My little one loves it! She spends forever getting the pepperoni placement perfect. Her fries needed seasoning but were nicely done. The bruschetta was too vinegary and mushy. The bathroom was disgusting. This Business has gone down since my first review back in February: My wife and I have really enjoyed the food here at Skipolini's, however the last three times we have visited for a meal and has gradually got worst each time. I am not talking food! So we got a real lazy server and food was good. Then the next time, we were got another lazy server, we had to ask for second Beers, and we had to ask for water, not a big deal, then our pizza cam out wrong and the server, she just giggled and she said the cook screwed it up and she didn't offer to have it remade, we just accepted and our service got crappier, even more after our pizza came out wrong, it's like we were not even there! We had to get a different server to get our check... Last Friday night, September 29th, we went in at 8pm, always open to give a business a chance, when they have had good food! WHAT a mistake! So we tell the hostess, this young lady in her early to mid twenties that there is two of us and she tells us there is a tem minute wait. Ok, so we go and sit on the couches and watch a little TV and wait. She comes over to us 14 minutes later and tells us our table is ready, we follow her through the dinning room and there is 9 empty tables and she seats my wife and I at this little table up against the fare wall, it's the smallest table in the joint. Now, let me explain one thing I am 6'6" 330 lbs, so this little table is not going to cut it, so I asked the hostess if we could sit in one of the five open booths and she said "would you like to sit in the bar?" I said what about one of those booths, she tells me again, how about the bar? We walked out and as we walked out I told her we would not be back! This hostess was rude, and she cost the business $70-$80 check and now the business has lost a return costumer, at this point it is very clear to me that Skipolini's doesn't train their employees. That hostess, what does she care, it's not her business, she didn't lose a costumer, shame on the management for placing that type of responsibility on a millennial, who has no common sense on costumer service! Good Food only goes so far, continually poor costumer service is hard to fix and our last three visits have stunk! I plan on making sure my 880 Yelp friends stay away for this poorly operated establishment. Went in on 4/16 as a last ditch effort to go into labor (my due date being 4/17). I had heard about the famous prego pizza and figured while it probably wouldn't trigger labor, it also wouldn't hurt things. Plus who doesn't love pizza? Well, not only was the pizza wonderfully delicious and filling it actually DID trigger my labor. Or maybe it was a coincidence. Who really knows. All I know is that at 12:21am I woke up with contractions and had my baby in my arms by 2:11am on 4/17. So if you're ready for labor or just craving a tasty pizza, this is the place to go! I'm sorry that I have to write this review as this has been one of our favorite restaurants, and we just tried to place an order for pick-up .... trying to support one of our local restaurants during the Coronavirus outbreak .... and we asked them if their employees are following the mandatory guidelines required by the State of Nevada in regards to using facemasks and gloves to protect their employees and customers, and the response by a male employee who answered the phone was, "We use gloves but no masks. We must have not gotten the memo about the need to wear masks." My husband said, "Okay. Thanks anyway," and hung up. My wife and I have been here several times and it is time we write about all the positive things there is to note about this place. We most always sit in the bar because our friend Gabby works here as a bartender. We follow her anywhere she works. Gabby always is upbeat and on top of anything you need. She goes above and beyond for her customers which is why we think she is the best. Brooke, Thomas and Gabby are all fantastic! Last Friday we went in for dinner and Gabby was not working. We contemplated leaving nut decided to stay. We sat in the bar area where we usually do and were greeted by Thomas. He took great care of us from start to finish. I love a good vodka martini extra dirty, but my favorite part is for it to include fresh blue cheese stuffed olives. I find that several places will not hand stuff them for me even if I'm willing to pay extra. With no hesitation Thomas was pleased to make this happen for me. Not only was this drink made to perfection the first time, he checked on us often. Our food was served hot and quickly. We both were very impressed with the service. Todd the manager came by to check and see how our visit was going. My wife asked him if he was the manager and we both went on and on about how great the service is here undeniably every visit. Came here on a stormy night during the holidays and it was the perfect choice. The hostess Karina went above and beyond helping us with a smile and sweet disposition, the manager Todd was unbelievably helpful and on top of the various and serious food allergies at our table. He also made spot-on menu recommendations (ie Tuscan Chicken), Katrina was always at our table asking if we needed anything and made the best dessert!! The ambiance was cozy and so pretty, decorated for the holidays. The chef in the kitchen worked closely with Todd to make sure the food was both delicious and safe for those with allergies. I've had so many good visits to this restaurant so it's time to write my review! My husband and I have a very close friend, Gabby who works here as the bartender that we follow anywhere she works. She ALWAYS takes extra care of us and we get the very BEST drinks and service from her. Tonight we went not knowing if she was working or not. We sat in the bar area and noticed she wasn't working and was a little disappointed. A bartender greeted us named Thomas and took our order. He said he had taken note of us being in there a time or two to see our friend Gabby. My husband loves a extra dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. Most of the time bartenders will not hand stuff the olives for him even if we are willing to pay extra, but tonight was different. With no hesitation Thomas told us this was no problem and brought me a beautiful glass of wine and my husband his martini made with the most delicious blue cheese stuffed olives. Quickly after, he brought us our food which was nothing short than perfect. He checked on us often and took extra care of us. I was very impressed with the service we received, so much so that when the manager, Todd came to ask how our service was I ranted and raved about how above and beyond our service was. Todd was happy to hear positive feedback. He let us know to ask for him if we ever needed anything. Overall, this place is amazing. We love going to this place because of the food that they serve, it is phenomenal! In that case, we asked them to cater us for our wedding. Their Manager Jose, set up everything for us including the chafing trays and rack. We do really recommend this place not only for any day of the week. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I'll share my experience, the server was fantastic and my Tahoe blue mule was great, but the food was not good my garlic fries were as hard as rocks, my wife's sandwich was flavorless and a soggy mess, my meatball sandwich was soggy on bottom and the bread on top was so hard it felt like eating broken glass, the actual meatballs tasted like one spice that was overwhelming I had to dip it in ranch to Temper the hard flavor. For 50 on a lunch date with my wife well let's just say we won't be returning any time soon. Disappointed because the place is nice and the service very good. I'm really upset. I love going here and usually the food is delicious. I had been looking forward to coming here all day and even had a very small lunch so I can order whatever I wanted. Well I decided to try something new and ordered the chicken piccata because it's one of my favorites. Let me tell you, this could have been the worst dish I've ever tasted. When they set the plate down in front of me I immediately felt disappointed. The chicken had zero color and was swimming in watery sauce. They served it with broccoli and carrots (?). I took a bite of chicken and had to choke it down. It literally tasted boiled, and had zero seasoning or flavor and was incredibly tough. The sauce tasted like water with lemon. I took 2 bites and was done with it. Unfortunately for me, I hate complaining to the staff and I just can't do it so I had to bite the bullet and paid $20 for this horrendous, dry, unflavored dish. I've had world class dining, I've been to other countries, I love food and am selective about it I also only give credit and tips when they are earned and this place earned them first of all the hospitality and ambiance was five stars plus its good for a night with the girls, family, or a romantic valentine date. The wine was so delicious my mouth still waters and the food was perfect amount to where you wont need a dessert or snack at home but not to much and ingredients are vip so it wont make you reach for tums. I made an order through DoorDash, it was tasty! I never tried paparadelle noodles before, not my favorite style, but still good. There wasn't very much bolognese sauce on the noodles, but the flavor was very good! The garlic bread is cheesy, herbaceous focaccia bread and is wonderful. I'll definitely order from here again. This was our first visit to Skipolini's Italian. The atmosphere was warm and the people all seemed to be having a good time. We were seated quickly and drink orders were taken as we sat down. The menu is full of Italian food delights, including a great list of pizza offerings. I selected Veal Marcella . Wonderfully flavorful served with mashed potatoes. My wife had Shrimp Scampi,sadly she felt the offering was a little to bland . We will be returning to this great addition to the great restaurant here in Reno. read more
